Does it really need to be "Ze little one"? As opposed to "Little one" or "Little Constructicon"? -- SFH 02:24, 13 July 2009 (EDT)

Probably for comic effect since that's all he's been identified as in the film itself, not unlike The Fallen constantly having the "The" preceeding the name, or other such articles. --Detour 02:26, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
It has the benefit of leaving no question who the article refers to.
Also-- I'm not entirely sure about the "looks like Scrapper, but has a different altmode." The scene in the film is clearly the product of two different 'shoots,' with backgrounds and vehicle positions not matching up, and the long shots showing different vehicles than the close-ups. A lot of the confusion about The Little One's identity comes from that-- there's a truss crane in some of the shots that's simply not there in others. -Derik 03:22, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
Perhaps, but in the shots it's featured in, it has a blatant Decepticon sigil on its side. We see no such thing with the loader. --Detour 03:25, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
Our best evidence, if we take everything 100% literally, is that he's a triple-changer and transformed between shots. Or scanned a new altmode between shots. - Starfield 10:54, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
Our best evidence, if we take everything literally, is that G1 Soundwave is a triple-changer capable of transforming into a perfect facsimile of Sideswipe's robot mode between shots.
It's a good thing we don't take everything 100% literally, because the inability to recognize a mistake as a mistake would be crippling. -Derik 19:07, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
It seems too unlikely to me that a red excavator transforms into a Scrapper-like robot - for one thing, there's no known example of a Transformer changing colour between modes in the Movieverse. It's possible that Scavenger was originally intended to join the others before they finalised his alt-mode, as occurs in some of the adaptations such as Rise of the Decepticons where the main image on the ROTF Constructicons page comes from. Given that the vehicle-shots before Devastator transforms don't match up with the transformation itself, I'm of the opinion that it's another editing goof and 'ze little one' is simply a Scrapper unit. (Which, given Rampage is smaller than him, puts Scalpel's eyesight into question...) Tarrn 08:18, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
The excavator is yellow, not red. It's not Scavenger's ginormous altmode, it's a smaller, yellow Volvo excavator. --Detour 13:30, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
Oops, you're right, my bad. I still think it's a editing goof, but the alt mode being smaller and the same colour does add more credibility to the theory. Tarrn 18:14, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
Wait, how did an allspark fragment revive someone killed by the WHOLE allspark?
Maybe because he was alive when he got killed but was dead when he got revived (I know it sounds obvious but keep reading because I don't mean it like that) just like electricity, when your alive it kills you (stops your heart) but when you are dead (with a stopped heart) it brings you back to life (restarts your heart). Lightning is actually more powerful than a defibrillator.90.198.156.78 13:33, 28 July 2009 (EDT)
The same way a cup of coffee jolts you up but a hundred cups kills you. --Detour 19:02, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
Jetfire indicated that Energon has some anti-entropic qualities. Mass doses will blow shit out, but lower doses can bring stuff to life.
Just like unleashign the full power of the matrix can nuke Unicron, but a tiny fragment of the Matrix's finite power can act as an 'extra life.' -Derik 19:07, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
Would it be at all possible to ask Orci, Bay, or any of the other reliable sources on this in the same manner we ask Wyatt things? If not, could someone remember to bring it up at the next interview with them (if there's room)? The compromise we're using works for now, but it is kind of iffy, and a clear explanation from someone in charge should clean this right up.KrytenKoro 00:35, 16 July 2009 (EDT)
Not that I'm against that or anything... But it seems blatantly obvious just from the context of the movies. "No Optimus! Don't put the cube in your chest! It's PURE ENERGY!" *Sam puts cube in Meg's chest* "Aaaaaaaaaargh!" *melt melt melt melt melt* (by the way, heat is a form of energy). Considering the cube was used to power up all of Cybertron... Yeah, the whole thing was probably too much for anyone to handle all at once. --Ascendron 03:49, 16 July 2009 (EDT)
I don't think Orci would be interested in that like Wyatt. In an interview he was asked to clarify Devastator and he said, "I suppose since we didn't commit either way, I wouldn't want to tie the hands of future writers with my non-canon opinion." - Starfield 09:13, 16 July 2009 (EDT)

Screentime

[edit]

Rampage and Demolisher got whole scenes to themselves, and Mixmaster at least had that thing on top of the Brooklyn Bridge, as well as being the focus of every panning scene with the Constructicons. Long Haul I think was also there for a while in the scene with Simmons, and is easily more idenitifiable than the other Constructicons in most of the scenes including them. Honestly, even if ze little one was Scrapper, he got barely any screentime whatsoever - I had to be looking for him in the desert scene, once I knew he appeared there, to even see him, and Hightower and Overload didn't appear at all in robot form. As such, I don't think that the Q&A thing can be claimed to explicitly identify Scrapper as distinct from ze little one with the wording it uses.KrytenKoro 05:41, 12 August 2009 (EDT)

Ze little one body-type as left leg

[edit]

Okay, right from the start, I'll admit this is completely baseless speculation. However, with the exception of Kickback (who might share Rampage's alt-mode, both being bulldozers), there are no other Constructicons that only have a single body-type, and it's been noted in several places that a single Rampage is too small to create Devastator's left leg. ZLO is a yellow tracked construction vehicle with a similar mass to Long Haul, and since we never see exactly what becomes the left leg in the movie...

I know there isn't a Volvo excavator in the scene where Devastator forms, but then, there's only one bulldozer and it's commonly thought that at least two Rampages make up Devastator, and the vehicles-rolling-up section doesn't match the transformation section of the scene anyway. I also know that all the official information on Devastator lists Rampage as the left leg component, but then the film contradicts that anyway as it clearly shows him becoming the left hand, and if two Rampages do form the leg then that also contradicts the single-Rampage-as-leg canon. Might as well throw out crazy ideas since there's no official consensus on which Constructicon does what. Tarrn 06:48, 15 August 2009 (EDT)

Is all this speculation neccesary?

[edit]

This is kinda pointless. Does it really matter what his actual name is? There are hundreds of other autobots and decepticons on Earth in this (like most, if not every) continuity that haven't been even talked about in the fiction, of course with not one being given a name. So what's the difference if this character has an actual name? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.100.243.71 (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.

Scrapper, ze Little one and Constructicons

[edit]

On the ship we see 2 shots. A short shot with a wheel loader and several shots with the Volvo excavator. The Excavator has longer shots (more screntime), clearly has a Decepticon logo and even gets a close up and even movement. Therefore it is safe to assume that the loader only see for a very short time in a overhead shoot is a mistake and the excavator is the corect alternate mode. So this means that this robot can't be Scrapper because Scrapper is a wheel loader. Judging on Devastors proportions Scrapper is one of the bigger constructicons, bigger then Mixmaster and Rampage so couldn't be referred to as 'little one'. Note that the loose Long Haul is a diffirent (bigger) truck type then the combining truck so can't be used for reference. Scrapper is seen in the desert battle and chasing Sam and Mickaela in the village so was clearly not dead (well untill being bombed by aircraft). It is unclear whethere there are multiple contructicons of each body type. The combining vehicles were never seen in robot mode nor do they speak or show any signs of being seperate sentient beings, they simply combine. Devastator could simply be a seperate robot with an alt mode that splits into several construction vehicles. Although the appearance of Grindor and a Decepticon identical to Bonecrusher indicates that it is possible to have multiple identical Transformers (unless these were in fact revived Blackout and Bonecrusher). If Devstators components are seperate robots then some of them would have survived as not all of Devastators parts were destroyed. There is a concept art by Paul Ozzimo shows a robot similar to Scrapper but who has clearly tracks (on his right arm and seen on the right side of his back) instead of wheels. Parts of Ze little one were used to repair Megatron, which after that Transformed into a tracked vehicle, indicating the constructicon killed had tracks. But perhaps they also used parts of Brawl's body. But if Brawl's body was close why would they bother to kill a constructicon and use his parts? Maybe they used a spark to revive Megatron and Brawl was dead for to long for it to be usefull.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.105.192.220 (talkcontribs){{#if:07:47, 3 October 2009| 07:47, 3 October 2009|}}. scrapmetal is also seen side hightotwer. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.157.50.68 (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.

Screen shot of technical errors

[edit]

I got a pic which can be used for Scrapmetal (ROTF)#Notes and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (film)#Filming / editing / technical errors. But it still need another image (in which ze little one's alt mode is a Volvo excavator) to be made into a picture like this. (I haven't got DVD, so I can't finish the job. Thus I can only provide a picture.) --TX55TALK 02:52, 21 October 2009 (EDT)

I'd like an image actually of Scrapper in robot mode jumping off the boat ahead of the others: so eager, yet so doomed. Alientraveller 04:03, 21 October 2009 (EDT)
Umm, I looked at the Main pic with Scrapmetal underwater and at the top of legs, he has wheels of a front loader there, and he has feet that of Scrapper's. Erimal 16:46, 11 June 2010 (EDT)

[edit]

It looks to me like the smallest Constructicon was Mixmaster. Is this an error?--24.69.64.254 18:47, 17 November 2009 (EST)

Not ze little one

[edit]

Im pretty sure that this guy is bigger than Scrapper and Mixmaster. So calling him Ze little one would be an error.--LesterX 17:26, 13 December 2009 (EST)

It's the only designation we have for the character. Also, you don't have to be the smallest Constructicon to die. You just need to be the slowest. -- SFH 17:58, 13 December 2009 (EST)

We have a name.

[edit]

[2]. Onslaught Six 21:51, 23 December 2009 (EST)

Well, what do you know? We actually have a name that is both Transformerish and descriptive! -- SFH 21:53, 23 December 2009 (EST)
That is so not fair! Why couldn't we get THAT Hasbro guy to answer our Constructicons Q&A question?! --ItsWalky 22:56, 23 December 2009 (EST)
Hasbro appreciates the fans' enthusiasm and support of the Transformers brand. To that end, Hasbro now solicits questions on a bi-monthly basis from leading fan web sites. Hasbro looks forward to responding to your questions!
(or to put it another way, NO) -- Repowers 00:02, 24 December 2009 (EST)
No clue, frankly I was surprised they answered it at all. I asked on a whim because we couldn't come up with anything better. I actually fully expected "We dunno! There is no name!" Onslaught Six 01:53, 24 December 2009 (EST)
His name is very descriptive. It could serve as his complete known bio! But they could have been a little more definitive. "On our side, we like to call 'Ze Little One' Scrapmetal." Is that an official name or an official designation? - Starfield 09:01, 24 December 2009 (EST)

Scrapper Unit

[edit]

Why don't we have him listed as Scrapper, again?--199.60.104.18 23:13, 22 February 2012 (EST)

Because he had a unique callsign at first ("ze little one"), a completely different altmode for most shots and because Hasbro considers him a separate character called Scrapmetal. --Detour 04:34, 23 February 2012 (EST)

Size comparison

[edit]

"Oddly enough, despite being referred to as "ze little one", Scrapmetal is not the littlest Constructicon in the scene. Mixmaster clearly stands at only half of his height in the dismemberment scene. " What about in terms of mass? "Little" isn't limited to height. --Khajidha (talk) 11:12, 29 October 2018 (EDT) That wouldn't really work, either, due to the fact Mixmaster is thin and spindly. Who is Scrapmetal

[edit]

Is there any reason to assume that the extra vehicles aren't just normal construction vehicles? Escargon (talk) 17:25, 7 November 2020 (EST)

They don't appear in the fly-over shot. It's just the four Constructicons shown previously and then they are replaced with two new vehicles. Plus in the over-head shot Ravage is quite clearly about to dive into Rampage's shovel but then in the next scene he hits the yellow bulldozer's shovel instead. Fanofcoolstuff27 (talk) 17:34, 7 November 2020 (EST)
The clip I watched: [3]. Timestamp: 0:23 reveals that Rampage has been replaced with a yellow bulldozer. Previous shots would make it seem it was still Rampage as his "wheels" on his tracks were also yellow in the film but closer inspection reveals that the pistons on the shovel appear briefly yellow (I changed the playback speed to the slowest YouTube allows just to be certain) before Ravage creates a bright yellowish glow over the shovel itself, the hoe on the back of the bulldozer also appears to be yellow which Rampage's is not. But the timestamp definitely confirms it's a yellow bulldozer as the body is yellow too and being parked in the spot that Rampage was previously in suggests to me that it was meant to be him much like Scrapmetal's continuity issues included in the same scene.
