Talk:Toy swapping

Does anyone think this page should be semi-protected or something? I mean, it's been "enhanced" a few times in the span of 2 days (probably by the self entitled douche bags the article speaks of). What's the consensus?--AWT88 19:47, 28 May 2009 (EDT)

Autoconfirm seems appropriate here. If someone has the balls to remove the line about toy-swapping being "undesirable," let them register for a screen name so we can mock them to their face. -Derik 19:51, 28 May 2009 (EDT)
Sounds like a much better plan to me.--AWT88 19:55, 28 May 2009 (EDT)

*forehead smack* Protected the wrong bit of the page! - Chris McFeely 20:01, 28 May 2009 (EDT)

Eh, you cool, Chris. I fixed it.--RosicrucianTalk 20:07, 28 May 2009 (EDT)

Bleargh001 found another case, this one Human Alliance Bee and Sam, where Bee's replaced with something else. --Lonegamer78 23:27, 18 September 2009 (EDT)

I ssem to remember on EBay, 2-3 years ago, an Ultra Magnus in Optimus packaging. I got no record of the listing, and I didn't buy it, so who knows.Hida Atarasi 23:41, 21 December 2009 (EST)

Painted piece of wood?

[edit]

Please tell me someone has a picture of that. ---Blackout- 14:15, 22 October 2009 (EDT)

Defending the practice

[edit]

Anyone got any links to message boards/usenet/somewhere where an asshole rationalizes doing this? Or are we just hypothesizing? -hx 09:10, 22 December 2009 (EST)

Does such a thing exist? Or are we just trying for less partiality?Hida Atarasi 13:19, 22 December 2009 (EST)
Fosterlager was banned from the Allspark for being real smug about doing this. Now he's a TFW2005 mod. --ItsWalky 14:15, 22 December 2009 (EST)
In retrospect, I think he may have been taking a joke too far and you guys were reeled in. --FFN 02:21, 23 December 2009 (EST)

Package Swapping?

[edit]

Does swapping packages count as toy swapping? I saw a ROTF Optimus Prime Leader with a first movie leader cardboard inside piece, inside a ROTF box. Bioniclepluslotr 20:24, 25 January 2010 (EST)

Tomatoes

[edit]

As this page is currently protected (though their doesnt seem to be a lock icon anywhere), I wanted to add http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/183502-lets-see-some-not-so-cool-stuff-transformers-only-edition-73.html#post4708953 to the list. Arborday 14:29, 6 April 2010 (EDT)

We stopped this article becoming simply a giant list of every instance this happens. We may consider especially weird/outrageous ones, though. --FFN 14:47, 6 April 2010 (EDT)
Just added it. Thanks for the head's up. --FFN 14:56, 6 April 2010 (EDT)

Image Gallery?

[edit]

How does an image gallery sound? Different pics of toy swapping, for more examples. I have pictures of a Recon Ironhide swapped with a regular ROTF Ironhide, with Transmetal 1 Primal's gun and some appendages I can't identify. I also have a picture of the recent Twins/Sideways HftD Target-Exclusive pack with the TRU-Exclusive Twins (that came with the white Demolishor; didn't have stickers) and a dark-variant Sideways with no head. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Karhukjnsi (talkcontribs).

Kid's won't notice?

[edit]

How would a kid not notice that the toy isn't the one he wants? Normally, it's the kids that know what toy they want, while the parents try to find it. It should be that the parents won't notice, because they probably just look at the packaging and match the names and not look at the toy. Bioniclepluslotr 13:40, 4 June 2011 (EDT)

Kids won't notice if they're kids who just see "cool-transforming-car-robot toy." Until they open the package and find that it's just a silly model car and not a robot.

Heck, my 8 year old brother noticed Movie Bonechruser in DOTM Roadbusters packaging (184.56.18.164 16:20, 6 August 2011 (EDT))

Indeed, kids aren't dumb. But alas, this is a reasoning toy swappers use nonetheless, even though it's wrong. --Detour 17:48, 6 August 2011 (EDT)

Universe Ironhide

[edit]

I'm pretty sure this trumps a painted piece of wood, honestly, is there any reason it's not in the page? (i.e. it has enough, this is not a real case of toy swapping, no one here found it until now, etc.)

That photo is mine. It's not here because it's fake. It wasn't found in a store, but put together by a friend for laughs. --ItsWalky 15:24, 26 June 2011 (EDT)
Ah, I thought that might be the case. Made me laugh, though! - ¡Usa El Queso! Complain here 15:33, 26 June 2011 (EDT)

Toy Swap times three

[edit]

I fond this little gem, snapped it and upped it here on the wiki: [1] Maybe we could fit it in somewhere? Editron 13:21, 16 October 2011 (EDT)

Toy swaps i found

[edit]

Here, three tomatos in a transformers packaging. AND, a cat in a Blitzwing packaging! OMG! --Karenjean5409 20:45, 25 July 2012 (EDT)

Please tell me you mean a TOY cat. --King Starscream 10:26, 11 July 2013 (EDT)

Hornet's nest swap?

[edit]

I think Walky originally had this on his LiveJournal or something a long time ago, but does anyone have any info on that figure that got swapped for a slagging hornet's nest? If so, I think that's definitely worth adding due to its sheer outrageousness. --King Starscream 16:22, 10 July 2013 (EDT)

http://shortpacked.livejournal.com/614371.html - from the comments, it seems like it was just on eBay maybe? --abates 16:54, 10 July 2013 (EDT)
Aaaah. That explains why it wasn't on here. --King Starscream 10:25, 11 July 2013 (EDT)

Inappropriate caption

[edit]

I think the caption that says "What the ****" should be replaced, it's sensored but i think it's still inapropriate.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pat (talkcontribs).

No. --M Sipher (talk) 22:28, 4 February 2015 (EST)
I thought there is a rule that says we may not use the **** word in captions, is it okay if it's censored?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pat (talkcontribs).

Having worked retail returns

[edit]

I can tell you that the reason stuff like this happens is that it's not worth the hassle for the returns cashier. Example: Cashier: I'm sorry, this isn't the toy that came in the box. Swapper: That's how it came. Cashier: I'm sorry, I can't return it. Swapper: I want to speak to your manager Manager: Go ahead and return it.

Unless you know you can get loss prevention on your side, there's no point in ever turning down a return. It shouldn't go back to the shelf, but if you aren't noticing (because it doesn't matter if you did, or you don't know the item), it's pretty easy to return it back to stock. Cosmos1 (talk) 20:04, 23 October 2017 (EDT)

So add it on the page under notes. I think it would worthy addition. west james/notirishman (talk) 21:01, 23 October 2017 (EDT)
