So... quote/image/theme suggestions?

  • Beast Machines Rattrap must've done SOMETHING with the word "reference", with all his computer digging.
  • Something with Wreck-Gar, with all his actual quotes/references?
  • "EVERY place reminds you of some place else." -- Hot Rod -- Repowers 21:21, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
I for one would love to see an Animated character here, probably one of the ones everyone swears is a Gurren Lagann reference.--RosicrucianTalk 21:25, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Number three seems the best, even though we're awful G1-heavy on these templates. But I think we'd have a damn hard time coming up with anything more apt. --M Sipher 21:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
I agree with the notion of diversifying the templates across franchises, but yeah, that quote seems especially made-to-order. Maybe there's something else out there, though. I'll keep pondering... -- Repowers 21:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

The screencap of Animated Bumblebee clubbing away G1 Wreck-Gar's motorcycle mode. Metal Gear NOIZE 21:26, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Unicron standing on Cybertron with "Nope... I've never seen anything like this before." It's funny, see, because then Unicron shows up in other series and Unicron himself is just a big fat Galactus/Death Star ripoff and oh man kill me now. -hx 21:39, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Wait, even better - where's that screencap from Victory with C-3P0 in it? THAT'S NOT A REFERENCE DAMNIT THOSE ARE JUST ROBOTS. -hx 21:43, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
I think that's kinda... completely contrary to the point, Hoop. --M Sipher 21:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
That was kind of the point, Beavis. -hx 01:20, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
ANIMATED MEGATRON HAS TWO LEGS AND SO DOES G1 MEGATRON SO IT MUST BE A REFERENCE TO TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE OMG.
ANIMATED MEGATRON HAS TWO LEGS AND SO DOES G1 MEGATRON SO IT MUST BE A REFERENCE TO TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE OMG.
"EVERY place reminds you of some place else."

Two things may have some kind of vague, remote, or tiny similarity, but that alone does not a reference make. We try to avoid grasping at straws here.

Heres one with the hot rod quote. Donut 23:47, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
A close-up of Hot Rod with an exasperated expression on his face would work better -- there's no need to be literal. Anybody know if there's anything from the UK or IDW comics that would serve? -- Repowers 23:50, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Hot Rod facepalms (inadvertently) in Space Pirates! part 6, page 4 -- it's PERFECT. Somebody wanna scan it? -- Repowers 03:09, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Template name

[edit]

Why the hell isn't this at {{referencebastard}}? --M Sipher 01:39, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Calling people bastards isn't nice. Of course-- the bastard template names are easier to remember, so they'll be the redirects most people use. -Derik 01:44, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
This isn't SUPPOSED to be nice. I mean, it's nicer than stabbing them in the goddamn face, the preferable option, but still. --M Sipher 02:01, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
That's where it started, but somebody moved it for some reason. -- Repowers 02:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll cop to that. I'm just worried that eventually all of them will be named ____ bastard, and we'll have to invent {{bastardbastard}} for users that frivolously post them to talkpages.--RosicrucianTalk 02:51, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
That's silly. Everyone knows that if someone is abusing the {{bastard}} templates, the proper course of action is to call {{shenanigans}} on their behavior. -Derik 03:47, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
