Valley of Lions

The Valley of Lions (獅子の谷 Shishi no Tani) is a valley in the North Continent of Gaia. It is a desolate place where nothing grows and little qualifies as a landmark but which is, for better or worse, rich in Angolmois Energy. On top of that, the area appears to be a rarity in that it holds deposits of Angolmois Energy in crystalline form. It is likely because of this reservoir that right next to the Valley of Lions the ancient Gaians built an underground facility in which they housed the Mother Computer. They also built a tunnel to connect the facility and the valley.

By the time the fight over Angolmois Energy broke out on Gaia, a white lion was living in the valley. In part due to his actions, it became the birthplace of Lio Junior.

After his Maximal Reconnaissance Ship crashed on Gaia, Convoy was close to death because of his injuries. That he didn't die was thanks to a kind white lion who took the Maximal on his back and brought him to his den in the Valley of Lions. Due to the Angolmois Energy-rich environment, Convoy not only recovered, White Lion, Run! but his Energon Matrix split into two, creating a whole new being infused with Angolmois Energy. This all happened while Lio Convoy was unconscious and, one way or another, by the time he had recovered enough to leave he had yet to take notice of his son. Megastorm Reborn The white lion that had saved Lio Convoy and that had modeled for his beast mode took care of the new being as if he was his own child. They made for a nice family until the supposed cub realized he could transform and his father couldn't and went looking for his origins.

Due to the approach of Nemesis, Gaia's Angolmois Energy began acting up. While taking status, the Lio Convoy Unit wandered into the Valley of Lions and encountered the son Lio Convoy didn't know he had. It was an uncomfortable and confusing first meeting, not helped by an attack by Galvatron who detected a threat in the new being who was recently given the name Lio Junior, but the foundations for better relations were laid. While working on stopping Nemesis from absorbing Gaia's Angolmois Energy, the Maximals were visited by a robotic emissary from Mars. Through NAVI, he communicated that he was made by the ancient Gaians to stop the Angolmois Energy if it'd ever get out of control, but to do this he had to get to the Mother Computer. As this was of interest to the Maximals, Lio Convoy, Apache, and NAVI came along with the emissary to help him out if needed. The emissary led them to the Valley of Lions, a place the Maximals hadn't been in a long time and needed a moment to recognize. The emissary informed them that the entrance to the Mother Computer was at the end of the valley and that would've been easy sailing if Hellscream and Max-B hadn't shown up. Hellscream captured the emissary and taunted the Maximals with his captive until the little guy was saved by the arrival of Skywarp. He, Lio Junior, and Santon went to fight the two Cyborg Beasts so that Lio Convoy's party could continue to their destination, which was only a short walk further. Emissary of the Fourth Planet After the deceptive emissary revealed that his means of stopping the Angolmois Energy was to blow the whole of Gaia to smithereens, NAVI swiftly returned to the Niagara Base to fetch the other Maximals. However, this second party too got ambushed in the Valley of Lions and this time by all Cyborg Beasts. The two groups were evenly matched and the Maximals would likely not have gotten past if Galvatron didn't intervene because it wasn't in his interest for the Angolmois Energy to be destroyed. The Emperor of Destruction went so far as to stay put in the valley to make certain that the Maximals succeeded and Lio Convoy later found him there. Aware of the help he'd given freely, Lio Convoy hoped that his old enemy was willing to consider peace and tried to make a connection, but Galvatron opened fire. At that time, the Galvaburg II flew over and took Galvatron on board. With him out of harm's way, the Predacons bombed the valley. The Maximals narrowly escaped. The Crisis of Planet Gaia

End of G1 Universe

When the white lion died, he was buried in his home in the Valley of Lions. Many events later, Leo Prime returned to the Valley of Lions when he was in need of a power boost only Angolmois Energy could give him and on the way picked some flowers to lay on his old friend's grave. Once at location, he used the traces of Angolmois Energy there to retake the form of the lion, once again becoming Lio Convoy, the Legendary Green Lion. Age of Primes

• The valley is named "Valley of Lions" by Gigastorm in "The Crisis of Planet Gaia". It is somewhat in jest, but so is Lio Junior's name in "Enter Lio Junior".
• It's possible that the canyon visited in "Megastorm Reborn" is the Valley of Lions, but nothing is said or shown to confirm it is.
