Synopsis

Having followed the Quintesson Cruiser back to Quintessa, Pythona and the Cobra-La Royal Guards watch as dozens of other Cruisers descend on the planet. Pythona orders Vipria to take them down after the last ship arrives so that they might avoid detection. Shen then goes to check on Grakula, but finds that her organic armor has mutated into a strange new shape! Believing it to be taking her over, Pythona attacks it, but Grakula tells her not to harm the armor; it was merely startled by Pythona's actions. The armor then releases Grakula and crawls off of her. Grakula isn't sure what exactly has happened to her armor, but she does know that it is becoming more than it was, and has even begun to speak to her. Pythona believes they should kill it before it grows too strong, but Grakula insists it means no harm.

As Zertonian troops pour into Agorria, Proximus attacks Springer. In response, Dulin mobilizes a platoon of Agorrian Guardsmen. All hell breaks loose as the two armies converge. Solila is confused as to why the Zertonians would attack now, confronting Proximus and demanding to know what's going on, as an attack from Zertonia could jeaopardize her diplomatic efforts for unity. Proximus reveals that he and Zalilak have both bathed in the light of Zerta, but that they believe unity is only achievable through subjugation. Solila remarks that Proximus was always too easily intoxicated by power, which confuses the hunter, as he has no memories of meeting her before their encounter in the wasteland. The two then begin to battle.

On the Skuxxoid Asteroid Base, Skuxxoid Alpha reveals to the scarred Skuxxoid that, based on his robots' examination, they have concluded him to be the first Skuxxoid division - Skuxxoid “Beta”. Beta balks at this assertion, but is quickly shut down by Alpha with the threat of physical force. Alpha then asks what happened to his Rockeroid, which was supposed to be the flagship of a fleet of vehicles culled from the Asteroid Base. As he talks, Beta begins to realize that what he's saying is true, and realizes that that's why his memory of his family, or rather, Alpha's family, are so vivid. When he asks if they are here, Alpha simply says that his family are not to be spoken of. Still, Beta pleads to know what has happened to them. Alpha orders his robots to take Beta to the divider, Beta protesting all the while and begging to know what happened to their family.

While the Agorrians and Zertonians continue to fight, Proximus is impressed at Solila's new abilities. However, just as the Agorrians begin to turn the tide against their invaders, the mind eyes of all the Sacred Ring inhabitants begin to glow, causing them pain. On each side, soldiers pull off their helmets and clutch their heads in agony. Hot Rod is confused, and Springer reveals that they all have Energon ports in their heads, speculating that something is causing them to malfunction. Proximus falls to his knees and cries out in glory: unity has begun!

  • We last saw the Cobra-La crew following the Quintessons back to their home planet in issue #17.
  • Grakula's armor has been mutating thanks to the effects of a mysterious green crystal pulled from the eye of their Leviathan in issue #14.
  • Proximus and Springer fought in issues #9 and #10.
  • Solila was first hinted to have had a history with Proximus in issue #8.
  • It was first hinted that something had happened to the Skuxxoid's family when Skuxxoid Beta first returned home in issue #9, where he suddenly "remembered." His relapsing memory was then seen in issue #14. This issue finally reveals the nature of his memory issues as being the residual memories of Skuxxoid Alpha.
