Cyberverse is the current encompassing name for the "micro play" play pattern starting with the Dark of the Moon toyline. It replaces the Legends Class (the size class has been absorbed into Cyberverse under the new name "Legion Class") and, to a lesser extent, the Scout Class (replaced by the slightly smaller Cyberverse "Commander Class", which takes its name from the Power Core Combiners line). The Cyberverse toys are in something close to relative scale with each other (though there's still scale problems such as Bumblebee, a Chevrolet Camaro, and Starscream, an F-22 Raptor, being the same size). Cyberverse figures are designed to interact with various transforming battle vehicles and playsets, creating a unified "world" children (or childish adults) can collect. While most are brand new sculpts, some figures are retools/redecos of Legends Class releases from previous lines, but the vast majority are tooled to accommodate 3mm weapon pegs and/or C joints. The entire gimmick of a small, compatible toy line with transformable, connectible bases seems to call back to the old Micromaster play pattern.

The Cyberverse play pattern continued with Transformers: Prime toys and the Beast Hunters subline imprint. Its Japanese counterpart, just as with the Legends Class, is EZ Collection.

Series 2
The vast majority of "Series 2" was the Cyberverse portion of the Prime line, and was therefore co-branded "Transformers Prime" and "Cyberverse". An unusual exception were three figures from wave 2 of the Legion Class assortment, which represent characters from the live-action film franchise, and thus lack the "Prime" title branding on their North American packages despite still depicting Prime characters as part of a uniform packaging design (their European versions do sport the "Prime" title on their packaging, however).

The light gimmick, meanwhile, has been completely dropped: All the weapons accessories (with the exception of Breakdown's) are cast in opaque plastic, the Commander Class figures don't feature any translucent plastic parts anymore either, and none of the Vehicles feature any electronics, even going so far as to retool redecos of Series 2 Vehicles to remove existing electronics.

Latest revision as of 13:29, 19 March 2026

This article is about the 2011-2014 play pattern. For the 2018 toyline, see Transformers: Cyberverse (toyline).

Cyberverse was the encompassing name for the "micro play" play pattern starting with the Dark of the Moon toyline. It replaced the Legends Class (the size class had been absorbed into Cyberverse under the new name "Legion Class") and, to a lesser extent, the Scout Class (replaced by the slightly smaller Cyberverse "Commander Class", which took its name from the Power Core Combiners line). The Cyberverse toys were roughly in relative scale with each other (though there were still scale problems; Bumblebee, a Chevrolet Camaro, and Starscream, an F-22 Raptor, were the same size). Cyberverse figures were designed to interact with various transforming battle vehicles and playsets, creating a unified "world" children (or childish adults) can collect. While most were brand new sculpts, some figures were retools/redecos of Legends Class releases from previous lines, but the vast majority are tooled to accommodate 3mm weapon pegs and/or C joints. The entire gimmick of a small, compatible toy line with transformable, connectible bases seems to call back to the old Micromaster play pattern.

The Cyberverse play pattern continued with Transformers: Prime toys and ended with the Beast Hunters subline imprint. Its Japanese counterpart, just as with the Legends Class, was EZ Collection.

Toys

[edit]

Series 1

[edit]

"Series 1" was the Cyberverse portion of the Transformers: Dark of the Moon line, and was therefore co-branded "Dark of the Moon" and "Cyberverse".

Legion Class

Despite being solicited through online retailers and the Hasbro website as "Bolt Bumblebee" and "Stealth Bumblebee", the American packaging for the 011 and 015 Cyberverse figures do not feature a prefix; it is simply "Bumblebee". Early shipments of the European version of the 011 figure didn't feature the "Bolt" prefix either, but it was added in a running change for later shipments of the European version. The European packaging of the 015 figure, instead, always called him "Stealth Bumblebee", and the American packaging got the prefix later as a running change.

An early name for the Bumblebee/Starscream set was "Cyberverse Evolution", which is still used by some websites (including the Australian and United Kingdom Toys"R"Us sites), but that name does not appear anywhere on the packaging. The Bumblebee/Soundwave with Rodimus three-pack was also available as an Asda exclusive in the United Kingdom and from Rossmann stores in Germany and Auchan stores in France, Hungary and Italy. Unlike the American version, the European version does not highlight Rodimus as a "bonus" figure. Neither packaging identifies the three-pack as being a Cyberverse product.

Series 2

[edit]

The vast majority of "Series 2" was the Cyberverse portion of the Prime line, and was therefore co-branded "Transformers Prime" and "Cyberverse". An unusual exception were three figures from wave 2 of the Legion Class assortment, which represent characters from the live-action film franchise, and thus lack the "Prime" title branding on their North American packages despite still depicting Prime characters as part of a uniform packaging design (their European versions do sport the "Prime" title on their packaging, however, incidentally creating separate characters).

Commander Class

[edit]

Commander class figures all come with translucent weaponry, and feature some amount of translucent plastic in their bodies (blue for Autobots, but a variety of colors for Decepticons), a feature designed around interacting with the line's vehicles (see below). Each vehicle is equipped with an "Energon Booster", a light-up accessory that can plug into the Commanders' weapons or into the posts and ports on the figures' backs to illuminate them with glowing energon power.

The only difference is the slightly different packaging and the inclusion of a mini-DVD that contains the Transformers: Prime episode "Masters & Students". Yes, all four of them come with the same episode.

Optimus Maximus

Universal Studios

[edit]
 • Evac (Transformers: The Ride)
Evac is identical to the Series 2 figure. He was sold as the only toy of its size in Transformers: Universal Studios packaging (sporting a "Cyberverse" logo) at Universal Studios stores alongside his larger Deluxe toy (which was only available at Universal, unlike the Cyberverse figure) and various rebranded re-releases of Dark of the Moon Deluxe and Voyager Class figures.

Series 3

[edit]

"Series 3" is the Cyberverse portion of the Beast Hunters subline imprint of the Prime line, and is therefore co-branded "Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters" and "Cyberverse", although the latter logo only appears on the back of the toys' packaging (it's even completely missing from the European packaging). The new gimmick for Commander Class figures and Vehicles is pressure-launched missiles.

Legion Class

[edit]
Wave 1 Wave 2
 • 005 Soundwave (Prime) with Sonic Saw
 • 006 Prowl (Prime) with Justice Hammer
 • 007 Hun-Gurrr (Prime) with Dragontooth Saw
Wave 3 Wave 4
Abominus
Wave 5
Though not advertised anywhere on their individual packaging or in their instructions, Twinstrike, Hun-Gurrr, Windrazor, Rippersnapper, and Blight can be combined into Abominus. The most likely reason for this is that Hasbro didn't want to advertise a combiner whose components are spread across several waves. Redecos of the five figures with translucent parts were later released as an Abominus giftset as part of the Predacons Rising subline imprint, which (obviously) marketed the combining capabilities of the figures, but got all their names (save for Blight) swapped and didn't use the "Cyberverse" logo anywhere on the packaging.
Due to being released after the Christmas season and before the launching of the Age of Extinction toy line, Wave 5 was only ever released in Europe and Australia, in European packaging in both instances (an unusual occurrence for Australia).

Commander Class

[edit]
Wave 1 Wave 2
 • 004 Hardshell (Prime) with Plague Missile Launcher
 • 005 Trailcutter (Prime) with Howler Missile Launcher
Wave 3 Wave 4
Optimus Prime
Wave 5
Due to being released after the Christmas season and before the launching of the Age of Extinction toy line, Wave 5 was only ever released in Singapore, Hong Kong, Europe and Canada, with Canada getting them in trilingual Canadian/Latin American packaging and all other markets in multilingual European packaging.

Beast Tracker Vehicles

[edit]
Wave 1 Wave 2
Sky Claw with Smokescreen
The Bumblebee/Energon Driller set was notoriously absent from US retail for many months after being available from online retailers and even appearing at retail in Hasbro's Asian and eventually European markets. It wasn't until much later that it finally became available through discount stores such as Ross, although there have also been sightings at Toys"R"Us Express, Hastings and Tuesday Morning stores.

Store exclusives

[edit]

Redecos of various Beast Hunters Cyberverse Legion and Commander Class figures were sold under the "Predacons Rising" banner. For some reason, all of them lack the "Cyberverse" logo on their packaging. This subline was officially announced to be exclusive to Target in the United States, and to Tesco and Carrefour in Europe; it has thus far been found in its entirety at Target stores in the US, the first wave of each size class has been found at Target stores in Canada, at Tesco stores in the United Kingdom and at Ripley stores in Chile; and some figures have also been found at Target stores in Australia (and others at BigW and Toys"R"Us stores much later, in mid to late 2014), at Rossmann drug stores in Germany and, finally, at Carrefour stores in France. No wave 2 figures have been found at retail outside the United States.

Notes

[edit]
 • The working name for this line was "Megaverse" (with the MechTech subline originally having been "Cybertech"), which could be seen on receipts for Dark of the Moon toys purchased at retailers, in the name of some exclusives on retailer web sites, and on the shipping cases for the products themselves. The reason for the change is unknown.
