Slug doesn't like you and he doesn't like your face. Don't bother trying to give him orders, unless they involve head-butting an opponent into next week. And don't bother trying to make peace with him, because he wants a fight and he's going to start a fight. On your face.
Slug doesn't like you and he doesn't like your face. Don't bother trying to give him orders, unless they involve head-butting an opponent into next week. He's so powerful, he can level anything in his path with a fit of white-hot dino rage. And don't bother trying to make peace with him, because he wants a fight and he's going to start a fight. Slug was among the Dinobots trapped aboard Lockdown's ship until the Autobots detached that section for their own uses. When the smaller ship was shot down and crashed in the Wulong Valley near Hong Kong, Optimus freed the Dinobots, demanding they aid him against Galvatron and the Creators who wished to destroy them all. Though he initially had to be held back by Grimlock, Slug yielded to Optimus' charge when Grimlock was bested in combat. Slug allowed Drift to ride him into battle, where Slug's ferocity and durability proved a great asset against Galvatron's forces. After defeating the Decepticons, Slug helped escort the Seed to a safe location, destroying an Orbital Assault Carrier by simply ramming it with his head, but was briefly hampered by Lockdown's return with a magnetic vortex until Optimus destroyed it. Slug aided in holding the line so Joshua Joyce could escape with the Seed until Lockdown was defeated by Optimus and their human allies. The day won, Slug and his fellow Dinobots parted on good terms with the Autobots.

Slug, along with Grimlock and 3 new Mini Dinobots, were hiding out with Autobots in the Cade's junkyard. He seemed to be far less trouble then his brethren, appearing to simply wander about the area. When their refuge was discovered, he joined Grimlock in burst from the ground to attack a convoy of TRF vehicles.

Slug and Drift had cornered Lockdown inside an old barn, but Drift's lack of experience in fighting alongside his steed ensured it was a long day. Surprisingly, Slug had dozens of mundane services built into his body, including a toilet plunger, a yo-yo, and a coffee maker. Drift had all these deployed in his struggle to activate the weaponry. After an exasperating period of trial-and-error, Drift finally activated Slug's weaponry... but fried himself with it. Slug could only sigh in annoyance.

Slug was minding his own business in a Chinese forest, when suddenly Optimus Prime and his Autobots arrived intent on learning how to ride the mighty Dinobots into battle. When Drift attempted to learn how to battle atop his mighty steed alongside Crosshairs, Slug, and Scorn found smashing them together much more enjoyable. Eventually, when the Autobots queried Prime on why he wasn't doing the activities, he claimed he had mastered it already...only to be dragged along when Grimlock caught the scent of Decepticons! The figure is limited to 24 pieces, with 8 in each branch that was participating in the midnight launch. There were four different styles of the figure available, randomly distributed among the stores - this silver chromed Slug was just one of the four.
:Like Scorn, some of Slug's robot parts were not chromed due to being a straight vacuum-metalized deco of the painted standard figure's dinosaur mode.

The name or term "Slug" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Slug (disambiguation).
Slug is an Autobot Dinobot from the Movie continuity family.
The drink will flow and blood will spill from you.

On your face.[1] Perhaps the only 'bot he can tolerate is Drift.

Fiction

[edit]

Movies

[edit]
The five movies are the primary component of the live-action movie continuity family. Their events should be taken as canon for all other pieces of fiction listed below, unless otherwise specified.

Age of Extinction film

[edit]

Slug was among the Dinobots trapped aboard Lockdown's ship until the Autobots detached that section for their own uses. When the smaller ship was shot down and crashed in the Wulong Valley near Hong Kong, Optimus freed the Dinobots, demanding they aid him against Galvatron and the Creators who wished to destroy them all. Though he initially had to be held back by Grimlock, Slug yielded to Optimus's charge when Grimlock was bested in combat. Age of Extinction

The Last Knight film

[edit]
Quick, give him some hot dogs and Brain Grain cereal!

Slug was among the Dinobots hiding out with other Autobots in the Cade's junkyard. He seemed to be far less trouble than his brethren, appearing to simply wander about the area. When their refuge was discovered, he joined Grimlock in bursting from the ground to attack a convoy of TRF vehicles. The Last Knight

How to Ride Your Dinobot cartoon

[edit]

Slug and Drift had cornered Lockdown inside an old barn, but Drift's lack of experience in fighting alongside his steed ensured it was a long day. Surprisingly, Slug had dozens of mundane services built into his body, including a toilet plunger, a yo-yo, and a coffee maker. Drift had all these deployed in his struggle to activate the weaponry. After an exasperating period of trial-and-error, Drift finally activated Slug's weaponry... but fried himself with it. Slug could only sigh in annoyance before sniggering at a roasted Lockdown. How to Fight

How to Ride a Dinobot! comic

[edit]

Slug was minding his own business in a Chinese forest, when suddenly Optimus Prime and his Autobots arrived intent on learning how to ride the mighty Dinobots into battle. When Drift attempted to learn how to battle atop his mighty steed alongside Crosshairs, Slug, and Scorn found smashing them together much more enjoyable. Eventually, when the Autobots queried Prime on why he wasn't doing the activities, he claimed he had mastered it already...only to be dragged along when Grimlock caught the scent of Decepticons! Slug allowed Drift to saddle him as the Autobots and Decepticons followed their leaders into battle. How to Ride a Dinobot!

Legends World

[edit]

Rattrap bought a Slug toy; its weapons storage in beast mode greatly confused Silverbolt, who thought it made the Dinobot look like he'd been impaled. Rhinox joked that he looked like the meat of a spit roast and that when cooked, he would become Grimlock's "meat on a bone" (what they called his mace). The discussion made the three friends very hungry. TF4 Toy Party Part 4

Kre-O cartoon

[edit]

Slug participated in a battle against the Decepticons until Optimus paused the confrontation to talk about the live-action film series. Slug was the one who wrote Optimus's script for his presentation, and became enraged when Bumblebee criticized his prose. Take Us Through the Movies To wrap up his monologue, the Autobot leader introduced Slug and the rest of the Dinobots to the audience. Then, a pizza was delivered to the battlefield, and the fighting started up once again. Take Us to the Movies Take Us Through the Movies

Robots in Disguise

[edit]

"Wait, how do you start a Triceratops?"
 • Autobot Drift & Dinobot Slug (Dino Sparkers, 2014)
Dino Sparkers Slug is a friction-motor dinosaur cast in semi-translucent plastic. When rolled along, "cold" sparks flash inside the dino's back end. Mounted to Slug's back is a simplified figure of Drift wielding one hella-long sword.

I'd slap you senseless...if I could move my hands.
 • Dinobot Slug (One Step Changers, 2014)
Part of the 4th wave of Age of Extinction Robots in Disguise One-Step Changers, Slug transforms from Triceratops to robot in just one step by splitting the triceratops head apart, although there is technically a second step in which the arms are moved into their proper positions. He features 5mm compatible hands.
 • Final Battle 4-Figure Set (Multi-pack, 2014-10-18)
 • Japanese ID number: LA-SP
The Japanese release of the toy, with no notable changes, is bundled with 1-Step Silver Knight Optimus, Galvatron, and Helicopter Drift.

 • Transformers: Age of Extinction Collection (One-Step Changer six-pack, 2014)
The "Transformers: Age of Extinction Collection" set includes an unchanged One-Step Changer Slug, packed with an equally unchanged Drift, Lockdown, Bumblebee, Grimlock, and the included One-Step Silver Knight Optimus Prime toy.

What will it be; precise dissection? Or blunt force?
 • Dinobot Slug (Power Battlers, 2014)
 • Japanese ID number: LA16
Power Battler Slug features a simple 8 step transformation from Triceratops to robot mode. Like the other Power Battlers, He also features an attack gimmick consists of smashing and slashing (which is supported by his molded mace on his right hand and the sword on his left) in robot mode.

Generations

[edit]
If anybody calls me Slug one more time, I'm gonna Slag Slug everyone in the room! (Hasbro version pictured)
(TakaraTomy version pictured)
 • Dinobot Slug (Deluxe Class, 2014)
 • Series: M4: #003
 • Japanese release date: 2014-05-17
 • Japanese ID number: AD07
 • Accessories: 2 swords
 • Known designers: Hironori Kobayashi (deco, TakaraTomy)
Part of the initial wave of Age of Extinction Generations Deluxes, Slug transforms from a medieval-looking robot into a robotic Triceratops with an opening jaw. His lower jaw and swords are cast in soft plastic. In beast mode, his twin swords "store" on the sides of his belly and stick outward. His robot mode helmet is a stechhelm, a type of great helm worn by knights on horseback.
Slug is slightly mis-transformed in the stock photos. His tail section can be folded up against the gray-colored part that forms his dinosaur mode's back, and that can be folded at an angle to give a slightly tidier robot mode.
Later releases of Slug features a running change: his front Triceratops horns were rounded.
The Movie Advanced Series release of the toy features slightly different paint applications, and it uses the rounded horns variant.

 • Dinobot Slug (Lucky Draw figure, 2014)
 • Accessories: 2 swords
This chrome redeco of Slug is released as a lucky draw figure available through the special midnight launch event of Transformers Age of Extinction toys at Taiwan (and Malaysia's) Toys"R"Us stores, by purchasing NTD $699 (or RM600) or more of Transformers merchandise, a random chromed Deluxe figure would be given away. The figure is limited to 24 pieces, with 8 in each branch that was participating in the midnight launch. There were four different styles of the figure available, randomly distributed among the stores - this silver chromed Slug was just one of the four.
Like Scorn, some of Slug's robot parts were not chromed due to being a straight vacuum-metalized deco of the painted standard figure's dinosaur mode.

Purple and organic beast mode? Slug hates this.
 • Dinobot Slug vs. Decepticon Stinger (Two-pack, 2014)
 • Accessories: Tail/launcher, 2 missiles
 • Known designers: Ramon Campos (Hasbro)
This bizarre iteration of Slug is a purple redeco of Beast Wars Neo Guiledart, transforming into an organic Triceratops. He has a "third" mode that's supposed to look like a dead, decomposing Triceratops (although the innards have been left unpainted for this release). His beast mode tail detaches to become a spring-loaded missile launcher, plus his dino forelegs have flip-out (non-firing) blasters for robot mode. The photo at right is mistransformed; his beast mode front isn't properly extended and his left arm is hidden inside it.
This version was available only in a Walmart exclusive two-pack with a Cyberverse Legion-class version of Stinger.

 • SonokongBeast War Neo DX-01 Trikero

Version 2:

 • Dinobot Slug (Evolution 2-Pack, 2014)
 • 25 OF 30
 • Accessories: 2 swords
Available only at Toys"R"Us stores in the US, UK, Canada, and Germany, this two-pack features the "Generations" Deluxe Slug toy, with no known differences from the normal retail release, packed with a "Generation 1" iteration of the original character Slag (also named "Slug" here)... which is just a seemingly-unchanged re-release of the Dark of the Moon Mini-Con Triceradon. Go figure.

 • Dinobots Unleashed 5-Pack (Platinum Edition, 2014)
 • Accessories: 2 Swords
Redecoed from the Age of Extinction Deluxe Class figure, Platinum Edition Slug sports a vaguely screen-accurate gray color scheme, with heavy use of chrome and transparent plastic. He comes packaged with similarly-themed redecoes of Scorn, Grimlock, Strafe, and Slog. This figure uses the rounded horns variant.

Let's see what you can see...

This article is in need of images.

Hates how well he pairs up with Grimlock G1 Color Ver. and Thrilling 30 Slog.
 • Dinobot Slug G1 Color Ver. (Deluxe Class, 2014-08-09)
 • Accessories: 2 swords
This version of Slug is done up with a distinctly Generation 1 Slag color scheme, complete with silver chromed bits. It was available only at the Japanese Transformers Expo show in Yokohama on August 9 2014, but could only be obtained there with a 6000 yen pre-purchase ticket from Lawson stores, first made available on April 25th.
This figure probably uses the rounded-off horns.

His colors reflect his hatred for you.
 • Black Knight Slug (Deluxe Class, 2014)
 • Accessories: 2 swords
Another redeco of deluxe class Slug, this time in a predominantly black color scheme, Black Knight Slug is another Takara exclusive to Joshin Limited and Yodobashi.
This figure probably uses the rounded-off horns.

Construct-Bots

[edit]
 • Dinobot Slug (Dinobot, 2014)
Slug transforms from a purple Triceratops into a robot. In dinosaur mode he can be ridden by the smaller Dinobot Riders assortment.
Like all Construct-Bots Dinobots, Slug features a gear-driven gimmick. In Slug's case, spinning the gear on his back makes his Dino-mode frill spin though it kind of makes him look like a pretty flower.
For some reason, he doesn't have any forearm armor.

Kre-O

[edit]
"How do you start a Triceratops?"
 • Dinobot Charge (2014)
The Dinobot Charge set includes a buildable Dinobot beast based on Slug from Age of Extinction.
His stock photography shows a bizarre error in which the axle connecting his rear leg to his body appears to have been duplicated and shunted slightly down and to the left, resulting in an anomalous extra piece connecting to two points that do not exist. Funky.

 • Dinobot Slug (Custom Kreon, 2014)
Part of the third wave of Age of Extinction-themed Custom Kreons, Slug is based on the movie Slug's robot mode, coming with extra robot parts and accessories, with some parts reused from the Dungeons & Dragons building sets. His armaments include a shield, a flail, a battle-axe, a staff-thing, some sort of spear-like weapon, a clear purple helmet and legs, a clear torso, and a pair of purple arms (originally from the Kre-O Battleship aliens). Unlike most toys of the Age of Extinction Dinobots, Slug is coloured silver instead of purple. Screen-accuracy ahoy!

The Last Knight

[edit]

 • Dinobot Slug (Deluxe Class, 2017)
 • Japanese release date: 2017-07-15
 • Japanese ID number: TLK-12
 • Accessories: 2 swords
 • Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro)
Released as part of the second wave of the Premier Edition Deluxe Class subline, this Slug is a redeco of the original Age of Extinction Deluxe Class figure in somewhat screen-accurate colors. He uses the rounded horns variant which was found in the second wave of the Age of Extinction Deluxe Class subline.
Slug and Berserker are prominent shelfwarmers.

Turbo Change Series

 • Dinobot Slug (Tiny Turbo Changers, 2018)
