So...what on Earth has happened to the TFWiki? Also, for some reason the old Wikia seems to have gained all of the articles that are now missing from here. (Such as the Season 3 animated stuff)

:Seems to me that we've reverted to a June 2008 version of the database which could be really bad news. Some of my articles Macabre for example are at the old site but not here, which would make sense since I wrote it in September 2008 before we moved here. I don't even have a login here anymore - Emvee :( 77.102.92.218 19:31, 15 March 2009 (EDT)
::Looks like our brain-damaged friend is back again.
:::There's some more info on the wiki thread in the Allspark forums. Looks like an upgrade handled very very sloppily. I'm hoping once they restore the old database it'll overwrite the changes made in the interim, seeing as how our favorite Idiot Vandal With No Life is on a rampage. (Sigh.) Wiping out his stupid crap in one go would be priceless. (This is Jeysie, BTW.) --72.79.219.120 19:41, 15 March 2009 (EDT)

Guys, stop worrying and check out the community portal talk page. That's been restored and its last post was only a couple of days ago. Unless that's the only page on the enitire wiki that was backed-up, the most that could maybe have been lost is a couple of days' worth. (Okay, as soon as I wrote this, that page got fucked up, too.) The main thing to think about is first-time visitors seeing the site like this. - Magnus Maximus

What worries me, is... why is the database even that far back? Even if we somehow lost everything, we should at least be stuck in how the wiki looked when we first arrived, but we've been rolled almost three months before that. (The last edits in the histories all seem to be mid-June 2008, but didn't we move here in mid-September 2008?) --Jeysie 72.79.219.120 21:02, 15 March 2009 (EDT)

::Only a few weeks at most, though, IIRC, not three months' worth. (Not that it really matters if we did lose everything, it just makes me even more worried that this backup/upgrade wasn't done right.) --Jeysie 72.79.219.120 21:24, 15 March 2009 (EDT)

::::::::::Hrm, as I more or less expected, Google throttled me. I'm not sure of a better way to get the cache pages though. :/ --abates 02:26, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

The not-entirely-ultrahorrific news is that the Google cache of every page I've tested for is from March 9th. So at least there IS a record of really everything we've done here; we've only "lost" TransWarped and one or two comic issues.

But for fuck's sake we have to get this nailed down SOON.

First question: is it possible for Google to make a cache of the current lobotomized pages? How long will they rely on their March 9th cache of, say, Kup, before they make a new image of it based on the piece of shit Bookworm reverted us to? Can we ask them to STOP updating?

And does this current incarnation of TFWiki still have the quarter-million implanted redirects to Wikia in it? 'Cos if it does, fuck, we're better off pulling the plug on the site altogether and only putting it back when it's presentable. Thylacine 2000 --74.73.131.210 11:03, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

Another thing comin'
Okay, people, look here. I don't know jack from shit about databases and backups and servers and whatnot, but what I do know is this:

This is a fucking catastrophe.

In the very best possible scenario, we've had a site that's been down all freakin' day. That's if we're very, very lucky, apparently. This is also a site that goes down every single night at 1:10am central time, and stays down from several minutes up to an hour. Every. Single. Night. Like clockwork. This is a known issue and in 6 months, nothing has been done about it.

That's if we're lucky. If we're not lucky, and I'm seeing no reason to think we are, then we've lost eight months of work, all thanks to some bizarre software update that... does what? Was it even necessary? Was something broken here? Was that whole thing where the site appeared to be working, was that just me hallucinating?

Furthermore, if this required taking down the whole site, why on god's green earth was a full backup not made immediately beforehand???

Daily outages for 6 months, lost backups, no backups before software updates, and a site that's now rudderless. We were supposed to make a clean, sharp, snazzy break from Wikia, show that we'd be better off on our own and didn't need them. At the moment, we instead look like idiots who can't hack it.

We HAVE advertising money, yes? It is time to find a professional site host, and PAY THEM for their services so we can in turn get reliable hosting. The free charity hosting thing was very nice, but it seems we've gotten what we paid for. -- repowers, not freakin' signed in.

: Yeah, seriously, what was the server guy thinking? The way this should have been done:
#Ask us first.
#Give at least a week's scheduled warning once we gave permission. (I mean... premiere of the first big TF info in a while kind of is a really bad time to be doing this sort of thing...)
#Put the wiki in locked-down Maintenance Mode.
#Backup the wiki.
#Upgrade.
#Test it out.
#Unlock the wiki.

:...I'm with you, there's gotta be some webhost we can pay that's better than this silliness. (I'd recommend Dreamhost, but admittedly, while they're more reliable than these folks, I still wouldn't offer it up for more than simple hobby sites.) --Jeysie 72.79.222.241 23:51, 15 March 2009 (EDT)

:Yeah, this was the one reservation I had against ditching Wikia - that entrusting our work to some random host would be riskier than a company that does nothing but wikis. Every time I mentioned it, I was either patted on the head or ignored. Maybe NOW the danger will be taken more seriously. - Jackpot 216.231.37.133 00:53, 16 March 2009 (EDT)
::In all fairness, this wasn't "some random host." This would be "the guy Walky pays to host Blank Label, where his livelihood resides." --Rosicrucian --67.232.209.132 01:15, 16 March 2009 (EDT)
::Not just Walky, but all the other people on BLC. Near as I can tell, this kind of thing has never happened with the BLC servers before. M Sipher--75.177.130.173 05:38, 16 March 2009 (EDT)
:::And the problem is that Wikia was unreliable too, in entirely different ways. If we'd stayed with them the wiki might be up... but they'd also be randomly breaking things by upgrading without our permission, and screwing around with our content. Personally, I wish we simply had a webhost where we were allowed to do our own backups/upgrades... --Jeysie 72.79.218.38 01:21, 16 March 2009 (EDT)
::::Well, we had no real reason to suspect this would happen. Walkypedia has been on this same server, with the same hosting and same maintenance guy for years (albeit it's not a wiki of anywhere near this scale). Bookworm had, previously, seemed to have his act together. We just have to hope that he gets it back up, and that he's properly chastised by this.--Rosicrucian, 67.232.209.132 01:24, 16 March 2009 (EDT)
:::::It's just that... personally, I'm dismayed we were trusting an "outside" IT person to maintain our site anyway. I had thought Suki and Derik were handling things. I mean, If I'm going to host something on my own webspace from a webhost, I'm of the "Take my money, give me webspace, keep the space online, and let me handle the rest" mentality. Or at the very least, not do anything to my site unless I authorize it and I'm there watching... --Jeysie 72.79.218.38 01:30, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

I beleve that we must do everything in our power to restore the wiki post-hast. Otherwise we will fall behind so far it may set us back weeks even months just to get caught up again. And if I might add that if anyone copied any of the articales we can use that information help fix the problem. I know it sounds complcated but we have to try. To me this not just a wiki it stands for everything Transfomers are. --D.J.Sky 03:35 15 March (2009)

:That's exactly what I was hoping McFreely, but sadly it wasn't. I was hoping the site would be back up by now and we'd have four days of work to recreate, but no, it's still down. I mean come on, the half-ass guys over at the wikia have almost everything we've put up in the past four days (not to our quality but still). I don't know guys... I hope it'll be back up by the time I get home from work tonight and might pull an all nighter trying to do what I can.--AWT88--98.19.92.58 10:53, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

I like the idea of the autosizing banner, but as mentioned previously, it looks really pixel-y and...well, bad. (Never mind that the Decepticon banner has some sort of smudge in the middle of the "K".) I'm looking at it in IE7 at a resolution of 1280x1024, meaning the banner image itself shows up at 1007 pixels wide. Still getting some major lag at various times, and not just at the "standard" time of midnight Central Time or so. For at least a couple of hours this afternoon, the wiki was taking too long to respond, delivering server time-out errors, or else generating a blank page. Frankly, until I was able to see it properly again just now, I was worried we had a repeat performance on our hands. I believe Suki/Scout said she was making regular back-ups, which is good. Is this periodic bog-down going to be SOP until/unless we move again, or is Bookworm gonna do something about it?--Apcog 20:27, 5 April 2009 (EDT)

Been Out for a While
I figured this would be the best place to do this. First and formost, I'd like to apologize to everyone on the Wiki for not helping in probably our biggest time of need. I have been unable to have internet access for the past few weeks, because the damn hospital wouldn't let me have a computer (and maybe only being able to use one arm on a laptop is pretty damn hard), which means I have been unable to update or edit anything. Hell, today was the first time I was on my Facebook or Myspace for weeks, have finally caught up on Lil'formers and ShortPacked as well.

Anyways, let me explain about these ramblings. Two or three days after the crash--on my way to work--I had some fucking dumbass in a riced Toyota run a red light and T-bone the side of my truck in my door and messed me up pretty good (he fucked himself up as bad as his car) and put me in the hospital. I was pretty damn lucky though, dislocated my shoulder and elbow, factured my forearm and wrist, broke three of my fingers; all on my left arm (and I'm a lefty), cracked four ribs and bruised them too, fractured my tibia and broke my ankle. My right side was farely untouched but still got bruised, oh, and my seatbelt cut into my neck (I've had worse cuts and scars before). This is all probably a bit too much but I figured I needed to explain why I haven't been on here until after everything was fixed.

I do have a few questions now though. 1) I can't log in under my name so do I have to set up a new one? 2) Was everything completely blanked when it came to users (i.e. Page Watch, Contribs., etc.) or can we retrieve that? I guess that's all the questions I can think of right now. Any responses, obviously write on the talk page, or hit me on my IP address Talk Page.--AWT88--98.19.92.58 23:10, 20 April 2009 (EDT)

Adding icons for the IDW Hasbro and GoBots wikis
For some reason, all of the Dinoforce articles show up twice in the Turncoats category. This doesn't happen with any other article in there, so I think maybe it's a facet of that little accented u in their names. They appear to not just be copies of the same article, though, since the talk page for one was the talk page for the other. I'm not sure if this is an in-joke or not, though, so could someone familiar with the articles please address this?KrytenKoro 19:52, 7 June 2009 (EDT)
There was some discussion on the Allspark thread a couple of weeks ago about adding icons for the two sister wiki to the Main Page alongside our Twitter and Tumblr links (and also remove the Blogspot link) with a couple of mockups made to show what it would look like. You can find the two examples in the couple of posts starting here. Any feedback welcome! --abates (talk) 18:47, 15 June 2019 (EDT)

So, I decided I wanted to try and make our Main Page a little less "unbroken sea of text" if I could. I basically consolidated Continuities/Categories into one, as well as merging Editing Tips/Holy Grails into one along with a resurrected "Improvement Drive" idea. I also added in some headers and logos to break things up, and trimmed down the Series list to show just the major fiction. Check it out here: Page and give thoughts? --Jeysie 20:11, 9 May 2010 (EDT)
Icon change (or not.)
:I like the consolidated "Improvement Drive" box and really like the separation of months in the Schedule. On the other hand, I like using logos in theory, but I'm not so sure about how it works in execution. Particularly I'm wary about the logos of the Japan-exclusive series. Having something on our front page that most of our readers can't read seems, well, unideal. Putting the titles under the logos in plain text would fix that, but that'd seem kind of gratuitous under the English logos. I also really don't like the use of the logo of the first series in a continuity to represent the entire thing in the Continuities box. It makes it look like the one series is the entire continuity, which also makes it look like an unnecessary overlap with the Series box. I think it'd be better to just leave the continuities as text, since it's clearer that way. -- HotAndCold 22:56, 9 May 2010 (EDT)
I assume that everyone's thoughts are "(in Dan from Dan VS' voice) I don't care how he rebranded Twitter, we're NOT changing the icon and its name." :::If anyone has any ideas on what logos to use in the continuities box, I'm all up for it. Maybe if someone wants to mock up custom graphics?
:::If we want things to be more generic, I could use this logo for Generation 1, and we could create a logo with the "Beast Wars" edited out. UT is still tricky, though... even if we edit out the series name, it looks close to RID then. Meh.
:::We could always switch back to text, of course... just saying, if anyone has alternative ideas.
:::As for the Japanese series, that occurred to me as well, but I'd really like to switch to the logos in that section, and anyone who hovers over the logos does get the English series name in the link.
:::But if there happens to be any English logos for those series available, we could upload them and go with those. Alternatively, my first inclination was to remove those series altogether and just stick with the major major TF fiction, but I didn't want cries of being biased or anything. :P --Jeysie 07:19, 10 May 2010 (EDT)

:::::Well, the continuity families have been part of our main page since pretty much forever, so if you want to remove them, that's a wider discussion than with just me, I'm afraid.
:::::(Though if I had to cast a vote, personally I prefer to keep them, as continuity families are important to our wiki's structure and yet not necessarily an intuitive concept to the new reader. :::::But in any case, I tweaked them to be plain text links. --Jeysie 18:56, 13 May 2010 (EDT)
::::::It still seems to me that Continuity Family and Franchise are terms that should be covered in the series box. Following discussion on the Discord about the Series section taking up too much page real estate, I've put together a couple of solutions on a disused sandbox. I'm leaning towards take 2 or 3, since take 1 doesn't really fix the problem. Takes 2 and 3 look the same when collapsed, but behave differently once you hit the toggle to expand. Any thoughts? —TheLastGherkin (talk) 06:30, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
:For me, the problem with the series listing has never been that it takes up too much space, it's that the series are laid out in an arbitrary chronological way that means it's always easier just to google/search for the specific series than use it as an index—even as someone who's familiar with the franchise's timeline. If the list was fit for purpose, the size of it wouldn't be an issue, in my opinion. For that reason, I prefer take 1, as the dropdowns make it less efficient to use as an index. The way you've condensed the Generations toylines is great, by the way. —wadapan (talk) 08:41, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
:I agree with Wadapan on take 1 being the best. :: Yeah, "space" isn't really a problem here. At least, the downside of how much page space it takes is extremely minor (if this was up top it would definitely be an issue, but that far down? Being basically the last thing on the page? Nah), and the downside of reducing big obvious easy navigability of major franchises by using a bunch of dropdowns that rely on people already knowing where the series they're "after" sits in the sorting rather than being right there is, well, way more sided-downwards. And you know I'm all for watching out for pagebloat. I'm good with take 1. --M Sipher (talk) 16:32, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
:: Actually, one thing I'd change? Put RID2K above the UT, like you did with Animated. Despite the BW mold uses, I would not consider that part of the "Beast Era", it was a big break away from it and really should be treated as such. --M Sipher (talk) 16:39, 23 March 2025 (EDT)

:::How about just a format where it's kind of like a gallery where the series' logo is shown alongside all the subsections needed, then you scroll left or right to move forward on backwards in time? That sounds cool.
Like:
"Series information"
(Goes to wild king)<-(G1 logo)->(goes to G2)
(All G1 subsections)
Poliwag06 (talk) 11:20, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
:I'll be honest, I don't think ever scrolled down far enough to even notice how much space the Series took up, and I don't think it really bothers me that it does. With that said, I think take one would be an improvement because the current one is kinda just... noise? the nice thick dividing lines and clean formatting help with readability. - Foffy (talk) 19:44, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
:Side note, Transformers One should probably get the full name of Transformers One instead of just "One". It could even be snuck into the film series tab, with perhaps some clever rewording for the section so the "live action" bit doesn't exclude it. - Foffy (talk) 20:20, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
:In regards to SS, I think it should go under Generations since a) it’s a Generations toyline and b) it includes more than live-action movie stuff (86, TFO, and GE). Thoughts? - IGEBM13 (talk) 21:53, 23 March 2025 (EDT)

Go-Bots

[edit]

Considering this wiki long ago decided to leave any non-TF-related Go Bots material to other wikis is there a reason the Go Bots comic is listed in the current release section? Indridcold13 (talk) 23:44, 7 January 2019 (EST)

Click the link to find out. Escargon (talk) 00:04, 8 January 2019 (EST)
I think he's asking why the comic series is included on here at all when it's not a Transformers comic nor tied to any Transformers media. Like, why not have GBWiki do that instead? Its main page has a News section; for lack of a "Current Releases" section of its own (understandibly so, of course), the comic series name and issue number could go there instead. --Sabrblade (talk) 00:19, 8 January 2019 (EST)
So we'd be advertising our side-wiki even less than we already do, then. Escargon (talk) 00:57, 8 January 2019 (EST)
Why not do both? It'll only be an issue for a little while. --M Sipher (talk) 00:58, 8 January 2019 (EST)

Adding icons for the IDW Hasbro and GoBots wikis

[edit]

There was some discussion on the Allspark thread a couple of weeks ago about adding icons for the two sister wiki to the Main Page alongside our Twitter and Tumblr links (and also remove the Blogspot link) with a couple of mockups made to show what it would look like. You can find the two examples in the couple of posts starting here. Any feedback welcome! --abates (talk) 18:47, 15 June 2019 (EDT)

I think the version that explicitly names the other sites is preferable, but I'm not convinced by the alignment of the text over the icons in your example. You'd have to play around with it some. --Broadside (talk) 21:43, 15 June 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, I kinda threw that together just roughly to put across the idea. I'll be doing a sandbox to get all that right before going live. --abates (talk) 02:25, 16 June 2019 (EDT)
Sandbox here --abates (talk) 06:14, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
I wish we had a third social media account to fill that gap in the middle and make the text look less off-center, but I like it in concept. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 10:25, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
I kind of feel like captions indicating what the other wikis are would be preferable, but I'm not sure how to make that not look like ass... (Also, is the TFWiki.info bit actually needed?) --Broadside (talk) 13:49, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, I feel like the ".info" bit can be safely axed. Locoman (talk) 14:09, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
I dunno, if we're paying for another domain name for branding purposes we should keep noting it. --abates (talk) 16:50, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
Why are we paying for another domain name? Just to stop anyone else taking it? Because I don't think anyone actually defaults to .info... --Broadside (talk) 17:18, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, I think that's why. A situation where Wikia/Fandom grabs tfwiki.info or whatever and points it at their Transformers Wikia would be a recipe for confusion. --abates (talk) 17:31, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
Mm. But if that's the only reason we have it, why have a link on the main page that's just a redirect to itself? --Broadside (talk) 22:28, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
I guess it's a case of it being added back when we left Wikia (We had an announcement that linked to both URLs) and the link was kept as the Main Page changed. We could perhaps instead note it on the Community Portal page. --abates (talk) 22:48, 18 June 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, I don't think there's any reason we need the link on the front page. Plus I like the balance of the text in the current sandbox. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 01:28, 19 June 2019 (EDT)
Any more input on this or can I throw it up on the main page? --abates (talk) 21:56, 26 June 2019 (EDT)
I feel like the icon that Ravage should be resting his paw on ought to be the Twitter icon. --Sabrblade (talk) 23:56, 26 June 2019 (EDT)
Twitter gets pretty snippy about having things interact with their logo/icon, while Tumblr sees to be more chill about it, hence why they're positioned the way they are. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 23:59, 26 June 2019 (EDT)
Did you experiment at all with text captions for the icons? --Broadside (talk) 17:09, 27 June 2019 (EDT)
I've added a version with text captions to the sandbox, though I'm not sure it looks as good as without. --abates (talk) 18:24, 27 June 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, the text just looks out of place and unbalanced. --M Sipher (talk) 20:11, 27 June 2019 (EDT)
It might look more balanced if the Twitter and Tumblr icons had text beneath them too, but one could also argue that all four having text would look too cluttered. --Sabrblade (talk) 20:16, 27 June 2019 (EDT)

Community portal?

I know this isn't exactly the right place to ask this, but what happened to the community portal? I clicked the link in the sidebar and it came up as "create this page".--Khajidha (talk) 08:58, 25 November 2020 (EST)

Okay, looking around a bit at places where I know it is linked from I have discovered that the sidebar links to Transformers Wiki:Community portal and the actual page is Transformers Wiki:Community Portal. Notice the capitalization difference. --Khajidha (talk) 09:01, 25 November 2020 (EST)
Yeah, the sidebar appears to have reset to a default, dropping the custom links to current franchises and changing to an incorrect capitalisation for the community portal. Once the sidebar's fixed we should be good. Jalaguy (talk) 09:06, 25 November 2020 (EST)
Huh, looks like it fixed itself? --abates (talk) 14:28, 25 November 2020 (EST)

Fall of Cybertron toyline

[edit]

I find it odd that Fall of Cybertron is the only franchise in the Series Information featurebox to not have a link to its own toyline. Even the original War for Cybertron has a redirect pointing to its five toys released on the Generations line. So wouldn't it make sense to also include a redirect for the FOC section of the Generations line under the FOC franchise here? Fritz (talk) 21:21, 25 November 2020 (EST)

Self Transforming Optimus Prime toys

[edit]

Any articles on the self-transforming Optimus Prime G1 toy which cost $700?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0SEYM9jHVg —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mzawutang (talkcontribs).

It wouldn't get its own article, though it's not absolutely clear where in our Optimus Prime (G1)/suite it would go. It blurs the line between toy and merchandise, and if it's a toy at all it would probably go on the "old" toy page simply because it isn't Generations. Not helping matters is that the Robosen and Hasbro Pulse websites each show different packaging with different product line names. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 09:47, 19 October 2021 (EDT)

Family Guy Cutaway Gag

[edit]

I remember seeing this cutaway skit on Youtube from Family Guy themed around Transformers. Something about a Decepticon named Negatron who turns into a canoe. Is it worth making a page about at all? GoodMudkip (talk) 15:48, 28 September 2021 (EDT)

Lots of other media references Transformers. We don't include any of it, because it's not official. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 15:53, 28 September 2021 (EDT)
^ Correct. We don't cover other shows making reference to Transformers unless it's an official collaboration with Hasbro. The only exception is we'll sometimes make brief mention on a voice actor's page if they reprise their character for a parody, such as David Kaye voicing Megatron in Robot Chicken. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 15:55, 28 September 2021 (EDT)
Funny you should mention the thing about David Kaye, since the skit I'm talking about had Frank Welker reprise his role as Megatron. I don't know if that makes it eligible to make a page about, but I thought it was worth bringing up. GoodMudkip (talk) 16:06, 28 September 2021 (EDT)
Still not worth a page. And we already have a note on Welker's page about him reprising Megatron and Soundwave in parodies on other shows. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 16:09, 28 September 2021 (EDT)
Gotcha, thanks for clarifying. GoodMudkip (talk) 16:11, 28 September 2021 (EDT)

UPDATE: So, about that. (Yes, I know it's still premature again) FigureGunplaFan (talk) 05:41, 18 February 2023 (EST)

It's still fine. Escargon (talk) 10:47, 18 February 2023 (EST)

Fan interactions

[edit]

So this happened, and it kinda jogged something in my head about what extent fan interactions like this can influence the wiki. How should I treat this next time I run into one of them?--Poliwag06 (talk) 20:38, 9 January 2023 (EST)

Nothing. This is commentary from a random writer on random fanart; it is not official material or something that clarifies it. Saix (talk) 21:29, 9 January 2023 (EST)

Icon change (or not.)

[edit]

I assume that everyone's thoughts are "(in Dan from Dan VS' voice) I don't care how he rebranded Twitter, we're NOT changing the icon and its name." FigureGunplaFan (talk)

I see no reason to indulge that stale bong rip with bad hair plugs and an apartheid-earned trust fund. --M Sipher (talk) 04:37, 28 July 2023 (EDT)

This day in history

[edit]

The "This Day in History" box takes up a lot of space on the front page as the date pages have grown in length over the years. What's the feeling about having it reduce so that the box just shows a handful of particularly notable items with a "More" link so people can click through to the full list?

The main drawbacks I see are (a) disagreements over what constitutes a notable item, and (b) some dates might not have anything approaching a notable item. --abates (talk) 18:16, 27 October 2023 (EDT)

GO to top feature

[edit]

I've noticed that the "GO to top!" feature that's been added, while cool, is a bit buggy. especially on mobile where it just doesn't even show up when you're at the bottom of the page and on computer is shows up at the top of the page and then disappears after you scroll a bit before coming back when you've hit the bottom of a page. I was just wondering if this was still being worked on? Carno (talk) 12:03, 6 November 2023 (EST)

You need to clear your browser cache. Press Alt + F5 or Shift + F5. As for mobile, it's probably the same thing and the issue will resolve itself in due time. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 12:08, 6 November 2023 (EST)

An "Energon Universe" wiki

[edit]

Greetings, everyone! I know it's too soon to ask, but just as a wiki based on IDW's Hasbro Universe was made, we now need to make a new wiki based on the "Energon Universe" by Image/Skybound. I ask you for help because the process of using MediaWiki is very different from using Fandom. Besides, I can't include lists of characters and story arcs on Wikipedia, as much as I can make other articles there. Thank you so much. Fico Puricelli (talk) 17:24, 6 December 2023 (EST)

There's no point to a separate wiki because we're covering the Energon Universe in its entirety. Saix (talk) 10:13, 8 November 2023 (EST)

Series

[edit]

Following discussion on the Discord about the Series section taking up too much page real estate, I've put together a couple of solutions on a disused sandbox. I'm leaning towards take 2 or 3, since take 1 doesn't really fix the problem. Takes 2 and 3 look the same when collapsed, but behave differently once you hit the toggle to expand. Any thoughts? —TheLastGherkin (talk) 06:30, 23 March 2025 (EDT)

For me, the problem with the series listing has never been that it takes up too much space, it's that the series are laid out in an arbitrary chronological way that means it's always easier just to google/search for the specific series than use it as an index—even as someone who's familiar with the franchise's timeline.
I agree with Wadapan on take 1 being the best. (Also, minor editing note, you forgot to add a “Toyline | Cartoon” section under Cyberworld.) - IGEBM13 (talk) 09:08, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
Yeah, "space" isn't really a problem here.
Actually, one thing I'd change? Put RID2K above the UT, like you did with Animated. Despite the BW mold uses, I would not consider that part of the "Beast Era", it was a big break away from it and really should be treated as such. --M Sipher (talk) 16:39, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
Agreed, and it’s also only the Japanese version that’s connected to the Beast Era anyways. - IGEBM13 (talk) 17:10, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
How about just a format where it's kind of like a gallery where the series' logo is shown alongside all the subsections needed, then you scroll left or right to move forward on backwards in time? That sounds cool.

Like: "Series information" (Goes to wild king)<-(G1 logo)->(goes to G2) (All G1 subsections) Poliwag06 (talk) 11:20, 23 March 2025 (EDT)

I'll be honest, I don't think ever scrolled down far enough to even notice how much space the Series took up, and I don't think it really bothers me that it does. With that said, I think take one would be an improvement because the current one is kinda just... noise? the nice thick dividing lines and clean formatting help with readability. - Foffy (talk) 19:44, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
Side note, Transformers One should probably get the full name of Transformers One instead of just "One". It could even be snuck into the film series tab, with perhaps some clever rewording for the section so the "live action" bit doesn't exclude it. - Foffy (talk) 20:20, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
In regards to SS, I think it should go under Generations since a) it’s a Generations toyline and b) it includes more than live-action movie stuff (86, TFO, and GE). Thoughts? - IGEBM13 (talk) 21:53, 23 March 2025 (EDT)
