Alaska is one of the fifty states that make up the United States of America. Unlike most of them, however, Alaska isn't connected to the rest of the country—it neighbors the northwestern reaches of Canada, separated from the eastern coast of Russia by a relatively small strait.
It is the largest state in the country (sorry Texas!) Like Canada, it's really cold.
