Cybertronian mythology read that, twelve million years ago, the Knights of Cybertron, the first children of the Guiding Hand, left Cybertron to spread enlightenment and make peaceful contact with alien lifeforms. Eventually the brave explorers touched down on a distant planet that they turned into a utopia, appropriately dubbed "Cyberutopia". The Death of Optimus Prime You, Me, and Other Revelations How Bright Their Frail Deeds The Return of the King It was, presumably, from this story that the Cyberutopian sect took their name. Chaos Theory Part 2

The truth of the matter was much less glamorous than the stories suggested. Though the Knights had found alien lifeforms, the life was organic resulting in them becoming patient zeroes for a new disease brought on from contact with organic life: atrophosia. The Knights sought treatment at the ancient medical moon of Mederi, with the planetoid's telepathic field resolving the Knights' desire to return home but still find new worlds by creating the illusion of a "perfect" Cybertron. Unaware of this, the Knights believed they had found the promised land and inscribed a map to the moon in the crystalline core of the Creation Matrix, sending it back to Cybertron so that the rest of their kind could follow it. Following this, Mederi's euthanasia protocols presumably claimed the lives of the Knights. You Are Here

Nonetheless, the fabled map to Cyberutopia eventually made its way into Cybertronian mythology with many of the more religious citizens seeking it out. Dai Atlas, leader of the Circle of Light, was so driven to find it to the point where his name in Old Cybertronian was "Dei Atlas", literally translating as "God Map".

After the Creation Matrix — now referred to as the "Matrix of Leadership" — was split in half after purging Vector Sigma of the D-Void, the map was found in one half. Drift correctly deduced this to be the fabled map to Cyberutopia, and Rodimus pushed to use the map to find the Knights of Cybertron so they could bring about a new Golden Age on Cybertron. The Death of Optimus Prime A similar map slowly revealed itself to Thunderclash in visions and dreams. The Sensuous Frame

Chief Justice Tyrest, overflowing with guilt following the Aequitas trials, took to mutilating himself as punishment for his perceived sins. One day, he drilled a hole directly into his brain module which convinced him of Primus's existence and that he was being beckoned to Cyberutopia once he'd absolved himself. The Divided Self To reach his destination, Tyrest sought out the Warren, an invisible network of spacetime-spanning "quantum tunnels". His plan fell through when he failed to actually find an opening to the structure, Filling in the Blanks so he instead opted for a space bridge built from the broken remains of Titans. The Divided Self When Skids entered it however, the portal was found to lead into the mind of the Grand Architect. This Calamitous Life The Return of the King

After assuming command of the Lost Light, Getaway, who'd been Tyrest's captive for a time, charged Perceptor with finding the Warren so that the Lost Light could reach Cyberutopia in a matter of weeks. Filling in the Blanks Shortly after Star Saber had come aboard the Lost Light, a trip through the Warren took the ship directly to Cyberutopia. Journey's End

Though the planet initially presented itself as Cyberutopia, the crew had no concrete expectations of the promised land, swiftly collapsing the illusion and revealing Mederi's true nature to them. Lūstrāre

Team Rodimus later arrived on Mederi, which had presented itself to them as the Afterspark, and discovered the truth of where they were. Upon discovering the corpse of Axe, a member of the Circle of Light, Rodimus realized the connection between Mederi and Cyberutopia. You Are Here

The Functionist Universe

[edit]

When several crewmembers of the Lost Light were trapped in the Functionist Universe, they were "rescued" by the Anti-Vocationist League. Clicker claimed the AVL operated from Cyberutopia, much to Rodimus's shock. Anomie As it turned out, however, Cyberutopia was just a nickname for the city of Adaptica. A World Misplaced
