Synopsis

Let no blame lie at the innocents who have prayed
As Trypticon rises from the ocean in base form, Clouder orders his Tankor Drones to fire, only for the Decepticon base to transform into a monstrous mobile form that Waspinator says has no precedent in Transformers fiction. Trypticon devours the troops, then begins eating his way across Yokohama in the direction of Metroplex, left immobile without his transformation cog. When Fortress arrives with the Battleship Maximus to put a stop to Weirdwolf's plan, Full-Tilt transforms Trypticon further into an airborne mode, allowing him to take a bite out of the Maximus. The Autobot Headmasters deploy onto Trypticon's hull, but they too are defeated and the Maximus is left to crash while Trypticon continues to Akihabara which is devastated by his landing.
Trypticon transforms to dinosaur mode and Full-Tilt interfaces with him, uploading his backup data and restoring his mind in anticipation for their attack on Metroplex. Meanwhile, Fortress has hit upon the idea of giving the Maximus's transformation cog to Metroplex and tasks Blurr and Wheelie with the mission. Blaster attempts to halt Trypticon's advance with an ultrasound blast only for his Zone Base to stomped on, and Megatron fares no better, losing his transtector to Trypticon's mouth cannons as he tries to take responsibility for not protecting Metroplex's cog, though his life is saved by the arrival of Shockwave. As the two witness Trypticon eating Headmasters for their energy, God Ginrai joins the fight, blasting the dinosaur with Triplemaster Chōkon Power. On noticing Trypticon is drawing on the power of all the Transformers, humans, and beasts trapped in his belly, however, Ginrai realizes to his horror that Trypticon's power goes beyond that of a Triplemaster before the giant grabs him and tears off his Godbomber components.
Fortunately, Trypticon's repeated distractions has allowed Blurr and Wheelie to deliver the transformation cog to Metroplex, who transforms and confronts his old nemesis. Additionally, Alpha Trion has summoned forth Swerve, former victor over Trypticon. Swerve knows Trypticon has a weak spot on the underside of his foot and goads the beast into stepping on him, at which point he triggers explosives that injure the Decepticon and cause him to spit out his captives, allowing Metroplex to finish the job with an antimatter beam. While Swerve survives by being pushed into the ground, Akihabara is in ruins, and Alpha Trion calls on the Disaster Relief Team to help rebuild. Until then, the residents of Akihabara will live in the defeated Trypticon, who ends up decorated with all sorts of moe billboards, much to Full-Tilt's irritation.

Notes
[edit]Continuity notes
[edit]- Blurr and Wheelie were previously tasked with delivering a transformation cog to Metroplex so that he could fight Trypticon in "Five Faces of Darkness".
- Megatron calls Shockwave "Laserwave", his usual Japanese name. His Legends toy was sold under the name "Shockwave", so he notes here that he's changed names.
- Swerve learned of Trypticon's feet by being stepped on in both "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5" and "LG08 Swerve & Tailgate", before finally defeating him in Vol. 42.
Transformers references
[edit]- Trypticon's money shot takes its pose from Studio OX art of Trypticon, which, perhaps not coincidentally, is the main image of our Trypticon article.
- A billboard on page 4 depicts Artemis.
- The billboards on Trypticon in the final panel depict Animated characters Lisa Kane, Sari Sumdac, Shattered Glass Sari Sumdac, and Lyzack in celebration of the series' 10th anniversary.
Other references
[edit]- This comic makes many visual references to the then-recent Shin Godzilla film.
- As of this volume, Bonus Edition stops employing the furigana reading aid.
