The name or term "Jazz" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Jazz (disambiguation).
Jazz is an Autobot from the brick-built world of Kre-O.
Next thing you know, he should be hanging out with Officer URL from Futurama.

Jazz is a particularly enthusiastic Autobot warrior, and hates that Optimus Prime has to be a killjoy all the time, what with their leader insisting on "restraint", when he just wants to get out there and fight Decepticons. In his downtime, Jazz enjoys chilling with his crew at the Kreon bloxing clubs and watching demolition derbies. He also likes listening to his favorite tune, "Nothin' But A Bot Thing".

Fiction

Kre-O cartoon

Jazz was in the audience of a tag battle pitting Optimus Prime and Bumblebee against Megatron and Starscream. Last Bot Standing He was in the audience of a dance competition too. Bot Stars

Jazz was also part of a crowd that waited at the finish line of a race between Optimus, Bumblebee and Megatron. He cheered for Bumblebee as he finished the race, though it turned out Optimus had already won the competition. The Big Race

Kre-O comic

Jazz was surprised when Optimus Prime brought a bunch of Decepticons to their picnic. Emergency! Hurry to the Base, Optimus! Together with Bluestreak he went looking for the legendary Red Bucket, only to encounter Bludgeon's Decepticons. Bludgeon tipped the bucket over on them, but Jazz was able to use the blocks in it to construct a Mega-Jazz robot and send the Decepticons packing. Treasure Competition! Defeat with Block Power! He was present when Megatron conquered Metroplex, having eaten some of Metroplex's blocks and thus contributed to his collapse. Two Giant Bases! Everybody Getting Along, Come On, Fight!

Jazz and the Autobots panicked when Optimus Prime was partially turned into an Alligaticon. Negligence Is the Greatest Enemy! Optimus Became a Monster!? When the Decepticons created Soundwave clones to brainwash humanity using hypnotic music, Jazz opposed them, offended by their use of music for evil. The ensuing musical battle between Jazz and Soundwave led to such good vibes that the Autobots and Decepticons actually stopped fighting and threw a party. Soundwave's Trap? Stop Operation Brainwash Humanity! Later, a space bridge accident sent Jazz and the other Autobots another world, where they scuffled with the Decepticons before returning home on a rocket. Robots in Disguise! The Transformers Are by Your Side!?

Games

Kreon Chaos

Jazz specialized in demolition. He could lay down mines to destroy obstacles, which came in handy in the Autobots' mission to infiltrate the Decepticons' base to retrieve the Optimus Prime Kre-O kit parts held within. The Autobots eventually succeeded in their mission, and assembled the kit parts into a colossal Optimus Prime. Kreon Chaos

Toys

Kre-O

Mama says "Spock you Out".
  • Autobot Jazz (2011)
    • Set number: 31146
    • Pieces: 122
    • Kreons: Jazz, Race Driver
    • Accessories: Pistol
The Kre-O Jazz set is based primarily on Generation 1 Jazz in deco, with a head sculpt heavily based on 2010 Transformers "Reveal the Shield" Special Ops Jazz's head, but with Movie Jazz's silver coloration. He transforms into a generic sports car that doesn't really look like either of Jazz's alternate modes, with opening doors and a flip-up roof. Sadly, neither of these features is actually useful for inserting a driver (the gap left by opening the roof is too small, and the sides are blocked by unfortunately-placed horizontal bars), but at least the thought was there.
The included Jazz Kreon is based directly on his Generation 1 self, with his characteristic coloration and deco, and "door wings." He also comes with a generic light gray gun used by some of the other Kreons that can resemble Jazz's photon rifle if you squint hard enough. The "Race Driver" Kreon wears a red and light gray racing suit and helmet, and also has a light gray baseball cap so he doesn't have to wear his helmet all the time. How thoughtful!
This set shows signs of having been slightly redesigned late in production. Included among the pieces is a red seat which is not used in either mode; there is an obvious place where it "belongs" in the middle of the car's cabin, but it cannot actually fit there due to other parts interfering. (Interestingly enough, a certain other company's equivalent piece will fit, thanks to its slightly different design.) Similarly, there is a black sticker with "vent" detailing which the builder is never instructed to apply anywhere, though according to stock photography, it is intended for Jazz's abdomen/pelvis section. Later releases of the set didn't include the seat, but still retained the unused sticker.

  • Ultimate Vehicle Pack (2012)
    • Set number: A4583
    • Pieces: 279
    • Kreons: Bluestreak, Sideswipe
This bucket contains unchanged versions of the Jazz (sans Kreons), Bumblebee and Optimus Prime sets, as well as the Bluestreak and Sideswipe Kreons.

  • Kreon Figure Pack (2013)
A boxed set of five Kreons, with Bumblebee, Red Alert, Mirage, Jazz and a fifth "mystery" Kreon; a randomly-packed robot Kreon from the first year of the line. There are no notable differences between these Kreons and the versions packed in with larger sets.

  • Autobot Jazz (Custom Kreon, 2014)
    • Set number: A7318
    • Pieces: 43
    • Accessories: Rack, twin cannons, sword, blaster, rifle, baton
Part of the second wave of custom Kreons, Jazz comes with a buildable rack to store his customizable parts. His torso, arms, waist and legs have a metal-flake sheen, plus his tampographs are more detailed than the ones on his original figure. His "normal" helmet and pistol (originally a Klingon disruptor from Kre-O Star Trek) are chromed, plus he comes with transparent legs, torso and helmet. He also has a pair of extra arms (originally from the Kre-O Battleship aliens), a buildable backpack, buildable rifle, baton, sword, and the Wheeljack wimi-wing backpack.
Though widely solicited, this wave of Custom Kreons ultimately never saw release outside of Chinese-market distribution circles.

  • Kreon Class of 1984 (Kreon figure set, 2014)
This version of Jazz, voted "Most Rad" by the Kreon Class of 1984, has much more toy-based tampographs than his prior version.
He was only available in a pack of 30 Kreons dubbed "Class of 1984". This set was made for sale at San Diego Comic-Con 2014. Remaining stock was meant to be sold at Hasbro Toy Shop online, except the set sold out at the show.
