This article is about the e-HOBBY organization. For the IDW organization, see Primal Vanguard.
In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape our sight!

In times of darkness, the Primus Vanguard (プライマスヴァンガード Puraimasu Vangādo) vanquished evil to restore peace. Formed by Primus to safeguard their ancient universe, its membership is composed of warriors from various dimensions. These warriors are individually referred to as Warriors of the Seven Lights (七つの光の戦士達 Nanatsu no Hikari no Senshitachi), as the Vanguard is split into seven colour-coded Orders. These Orders are associated with both an element and a Transformers concept. Each is lead by either a Convoy (司令官 (コンボイ), lit. "Commander") or a Prime (元帥 (プライム), lit. "Marshal"),[1] the latter of whom have Orders composed entirely of Convoys and Convoy-adjacent beings.

These Orders are:

Each Order has its own Matrix and its own planet.

Formed by Primus and led overall by Blue Big Convoy, the Primus Vanguard specialised in dealing with intangible and extra-dimensional threats. They were once led by Brightes. On one occasion, Blue used the power of his Matrix Sword to wipe out a group of Specters, but not before they prophesied the downfall of the Vanguard. Blue Big Convoy comic

The Blue Order leapt into action in order to save Star Convoy from an attack from Ultra Megatron, both of whom had come to the Vanguard's universe along with two teams of Seacons. However, a pair of traitorous Straxuses activated a berserker program they had infected the Blue Order with, forcing them to destroy each other. Blue was able to fight off the virus long enough to take his own life with the Matrix Sword, which the more intelligent Straxus took from his body. Primus warned the other Orders of the Straxuses and their alliance with Ultra Megatron, but the Seacons, empowered by Angolmois Energy, took advantage of the confusion to plunder the Matrices of all God Neptune comic 1 but the Purple and Blue Orders. Purple Wicked Convoy, who desired power himself, proposed to Ultra Megatron and the Straxuses that they form an alliance. God Neptune comic 2.

God Neptune, now empowered by the stolen Matrices, ended up in an outer space standoff with the Purple-Megatron-Straxus alliance. Though he was able to shrug off attacks from Megatron and Straxus, the combiner was surprised when Blue's spirit emanated from the Matrix Sword, having been sealed there upon the moment of his death, and blasted him with the stolen Matrix Buster. Yellow Splendid Convoy, Green Tender Convoy and Black Go Prime then arrived and restrained the combiner, allowing White Gallant Convoy to launch an attack in his own combiner mode: White Convoy Grand Prime. As he did so, he telepathically contacted Star Convoy, believing that the Autobot commander was his own future reincarnation, asking him to take care of the future. The attack failed thanks to God Neptune's Neptune Sword, and he was summarily bisected. Megatron then combined with Purple's trailer to boost his power in a new "SF Gun mode", knocking the combiner out of his combination. Halfshell attempted to call his accomplice Turtler for help, God Neptune comic 3 but was left emotionally broken following the revelation that he had been merely using him, leaving him totally alone. However, White's spirit spoke to him, having pulled the same trick as Blue, encouraging Halfshell to fight for his crew after reading his memories through the Neptune Sword. Halfshell then cut Megatron in two and used the power of the various Matrices to revive his crew. God Neptune comic 4

Straxus's rage program also granted sentience to Magna Convoy, previously a Primus Vanguard support drone, who was literally brought to life by his rage at this betrayal. As the last member of the Vanguard, he swore on his predecessors that he would recover the Matrix Sword. Cybertron Magna Convoy prequel comic After succeeding, Magna Convoy detected signs that other members may have survived, though he recognized that the Primus Vanguard of old was no more and sought to recreate them anew. Legends comic

Waspinator of the Legends World was unsure about which universe the Primus Vanguard operated in, so he asked Delta Magnus of the G1 World. Magnus clarified that he was part of the Primal Vanguard and had never heard of the Primus Vanguard, suggesting they were not from the same world. Bonus Edition Vol. EX

Notes

  • At the moment, it's not terribly clear how the Primus Vanguard setting relates to both the G1 World and the setting of the various Vanguard-related e-HOBBY comics. Though Primus makes a number of allusions to ferrying the deceased Blue Order to the "next world", there's not currently much evidence towards the kind of specific 1:1 reincarnation that White believes will happen. We've given most of the Vanguard commanders their own pages in the meantime as opposed to folding them into their presumed reincarnations, with three exceptions: Yellow Splendid Convoy and Red Sentinel Prime have been folded in with their inspirations due to Generations Selects being their Japanese fiction debut, while all signs point to Black Go Prime being the guy described by his original toy's bio.
