Optimus Prime (Universe)
| This subject of this article goes by multiple names that apply to other articles as well. See Optimus Prime (disambiguation), Yellow (disambiguation). |
- Optimus Prime is an Autobot from the Robots in Disguise continuity family (via the 2003 Universe line).

Optimus Prime is a legendary Autobot leader and hero. Though her splendid yellow armor sets her apart from others of her archetype across the multiverse, she is as dedicated and honorable as any of her red-clad counterparts, unafraid to make difficult choices like downsizing herself and her troops into Spy Changers to conserve power. She does, however have one unusual quirk—she never calls out her attacks in a dramatic fashion before using them. Weird, right?
Sometimes, she is known as Yellow Splendid Convoy (イエロー華麗なる

Ask Vector Prime

I know! This female Optimus Prime doesn't have a fire ladder! Enjoy your negligence suit, lady!
When the Sky-Byte of her world accidentally turned all of Earth's energon toxic, the female Optimus Prime of Viron 1103.12 Gamma was forced to downsize herself and her troops into new Spy Changer forms to survive, much to the amusement of the Predacons... until the Autobots blew up the Predacons' pure energon and the bad guys ran out of energy. Prime's nemesis Scourge was the only villain that made the shift to a Spy Changer body, but she too was defeated by Prime's army. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/08/18

- Voice actor: Michelle Carolus (English)
Optimus Prime and her cohorts Prowl, Ultra Magnus, and Ironhide were later plucked from their universe and stranded on a frozen planetoid, a side effect of Rhinox's device that blocked Unicron's attempt to kidnap Transformers from multiple dimensions. These stranded Autobots were targeted for 'recruitment' by Reptilion but rescued by the Children of Primus. During the battle, Optimus took charge; a Prowl was left bemused taking orders from someone so short while Optimus was distracted (and annoyed) by his constant statement of what attacks he was going to do.

Precursor World

Chosen to bear the Yellow Matrix and lead the all-female Yellow Order in their defense of the universe of Yellow Star Power, Yellow Splendid Convoy personally delivered the news of Blue Brightes Convoy's passing at the ghostly hands(?) of their ancient enemies the Specters to Primus.
In the Primus Vanguard's final battle for the fate of their multiverse, she joined with the other commanders of the Vanguard to eradicate the Specters by unleashing all seven Star Powers at once, which had the side effect of knitting their multiverse into a single, multicolored world.

Splendid attended a subsequent conference of Primus Vanguard command to discuss the new threat of the Vok. After Primus resolved to scry into the future to gather intelligence on their foes, Splendid loitered in the hallways of Vanguard headquarters with White Gallant Convoy and Purple Wicked Convoy, remarking that Primus's vision must have been truly awe inspiring to give the god-king pause as they gossiped about what he could have seen. Shortly thereafter, Primus burst into the hallway to their collective shock, exclaiming that his pet Primacron had escaped and rambling about how he needed all of their Matrices immediately so that he could end the universe. An alarmed Splendid left with her comrades as the Vanguard commanders left Primus to ravings and returned to their respective planets, save an impassive Blue Big Convoy. Finale 1
While spending time next to a lagoon on the sandy Yellow Planet, Splendid received a message from Primus, warning her that the Blue Order had fallen and that Ultra Megatron Omega would be coming for the Seven Lights, including her Yellow Matrix. Instead of their expected visitor, she and her Order were met by Scylla, who swiftly defeated them using her Angolmois Kiss of Death, God Neptune comic 1 and the Matrix Gauntlet was taken and used as the hand of God Neptune.
Down but not out, Splendid flew into space along with Green Tender Convoy and Black Go Prime, restraining God Neptune after a surprise attack by the phantom Blue Big Convoy. Though they had the combiner on the ropes long enough for White Convoy Grand Prime to begin his attack, Splendid was sent flying with the others when God Neptune drew his Neptune Sword and subsequently expired. God Neptune comic 2 Her spirit still continued on, and assisted in fighting back against Primacron within Neo Primus with the equally ethereal Black Prime and Green Convoy in defense of their disgraced master.
Yellow Megatron sought to take Yellow Splendid Convoy's position as representative of the Yellow Light, but he and his cadre of like-minded Megatrons were defeated. Much later, Jhiaxus would come to represent the Yellow in Magna Convoy's Primus Vanguard. Finale Part 2
Toys
Universe (2003)

- Optimus Prime (Supreme Class, 2003)
- Accessories: Pistol, 4 missiles
- A Sam's Club exclusive, the Universe release of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime basically swapped out all of its red plastic for a yellow-orange color with a black "bandolier". She transforms into a Japanese-style fire truck of seemingly made-up design (but with the distinct divided front windows of a Mitsubishi Fuso K Series K201 ladder truck), the forward section of which truck detaches to become her standard robot mode. Her 'trailer' can be reconfigured into a sort of battle station, which can then be disassembled and attached around the robot to form her Battle Mode. For some reason, the Autobot symbol on her chest in Battle Mode is left unpainted. As an undocumented feature, Optimus Prime's pistol can be stored on the right side of a backpack.
- The toy incorrectly proclaims that Optimus Prime's transformation into super mode uses the code-phrase "maximize". Additionally, the toy has the unfortunate tendency for its rubber tires to split down its molding connection. The ladder comes complete with missiles allowing them to be launched one-at-a-time via individual triggers. The standard robot mode has four pegs on its arms that happen to be sculpted in such a way that they can function as Mini-Con ports, though they weren't designed with this in mind, since the original toy came out before the Armada toyline.
- She came packed in robot mode in an upright display package, which featured a sticker on the front with a hilariously mistransformed Omega Prime, advertising the toy's combining ability with the simultaneously-released, slightly-redecoed Sam's Club exclusive Universe release of Robots in Disguise Ultra Magnus.
- This Optimus Prime was also repurposed as Armada Hot Shot's "Shotimus Prime" body.

- Optimus Prime and Prowl (Basic Class two-pack, 2003)
- One of a half-dozen Wal-Mart exclusive Universe toys to hit in the span of a few short months in 2003, this version of Prime is a yellow redeco of the Robots in Disguise Spy Changer Optimus Prime (with an oddly-unpainted face), based on the Sam's Club version of the larger toy. Prime was only available in a Basic-pricepoint two-pack with Prowl.
Notes
- Michelle Carolus voiced Optimus at the OTFCC 2004 stage play, which was made into a joke as Prowl found himself 'distracted' by it even though Optimus was apparently male. Ask Vector Prime retconned this in 2015 and said this was an Optimus Prime who just happened to be female (this also established the Spy Changer Scourge as female too, due to Scourge being partially based on a scan of Optimus Prime).
- In the OTFCC script, she was designated "Optimus Prime (Micro)". With no stated universe of origin, being released in a franchise that wasn't tied to a reality, and questioning one of Robots in Disguise's tropes, it's likely that she wasn't intended to be a Robots in Disguise Prime... but it never explicitly said she wasn't, and so Ask Vector Prime established her to be from a divergent version of the Robots in Disguise setting!
- "Kareinaru" can also mean "magnificent" or "gorgeous"; we've chosen to translate it as "Splendid" as a midpoint between these meanings.[2]
- Yellow Splendid Convoy has her toy's Autobot insignia on her chest despite existing before the concepts of Autobot and Decepticon. This is presumably due to the fact that the Autobot symbol itself was repurposed into the Vanguard's sigil in the original Precursor World e-HOBBY comics.
References
- ↑ The Primus Vanguard utilize an elaborate form of Japanese wordplay to impart a sort of "B-side" moniker. In this case the title "Splendid Commander Yellow" is read as the name "Yellow Splendid Convoy." See the Japanese language article for further details on how this works.
