Burn Out (Diaclone)
| The name or term "Burnout" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Burnout (disambiguation). |
- Burn Out is a Diaclone vehicle from Diaclone or a Velocitronian Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Though she's not the fastest or biggest bot around, Burn Out (also Burnout) is a warrior known for her determination and stoicism. Unfortunately, she's also known for her stubbornness, which frequently leads her to argue with allies like her partner, the Diaclone project pilot Dia.
Fortunately, Burn Out is heavily armed with an array of weapons from pulse rifles to concussion levelers, which surely helps in venting any frustration caused by butting heads.

Timelines

Burn Out was a mech created as part of the Diaclone project, partnered with the ambitious and dedicated Dia. To aid in targeting the mech's extensive weapons array while maintaining balance and maneuverability, Burn Out's central computer was equipped with an artificial intelligence based on Dia's personality. Unfortunately, as both Dia and the AI were incredibly stubborn, the two ended up arguing enough that Dia preferred to turn off the voice command function and pilot the mech herself, despite the physical exertion required to do so. Timelines Burn Out profile
Crossing dimensions in pursuit of the Waruders, Lift-Ticket/Cline and Burn Out/Dia found themselves stranded on Axiom Nexus. Following a Waruder signal underground, the Diaclone team bumped into a group of Cybertron's most wanted criminals. Startled, they fled the scene. The groups reconvened as they both wound up within the Waruder hive. Joining forces with C-81's group, as well as General Optimus Prime and Sergeant Hound, they did their best to hold the insectoid invaders at bay. During the battle, Dia used her mech to great effectiveness, but begun to become overwhelmed when there appeared to be no end to the Waruder soldiers. Things took a turn for the worse when the Lift-Ticket mech took a serious blow, forcing Dia to use Burn Out to protect her now vulnerable teammate. Thankfully, the Waruders were led off-planet thanks to the collaborative efforts of everyone involved. Cybertron's Most Wanted

A resident of Velocitron, Burn Out was one of the many participants in the Speedia 500, the race to determine the next leader of the planet. Tread & Circuits Part 2 She evaded Mayhem's onslaught, taunting the participants of the ensuing brawl as she did so. Unfortunately she did not win. Didn't even come close, if we're honest. But she didn't die, either! Maybe next time, Burn Out. Tread & Circuits Part 3
Velocitron Speedia 500

The AI robot partner to the human Dia, Burnout competed in the Speedia 500 (with Dia riding aboard) for the chance to become leader of Velocitron. In the race, the two scaled a steep cliff to create a shortcut for themselves. Road Rocket called it "cheating", but race official/announcer Cosmos didn't seem to have a problem with it. Toys
Timelines

- Burn Out (Souvenir set, 2015)
- Accessories: Small gun, large gun
- Timelines Burn Out is a redeco of Generations: Thrilling 30 Deluxe Class Skids, transforming into a compact hatchback car of made-up model. She comes with a rifle and a pistol that can combine into a larger rifle, and can be held or peg onto her vehicle sides via 5 mm post. Her robot-mode shoulders have hidden non-firing multi-missile launchers revealed by rotating part of the wheel hub up. The double-blasters attached to her forearms can split up and spread out for a wider firing angle. She has visible light-piping on the back of her head, but her eyes are painted yellow, rendering it useless.
- She was available only in an at-show "Diaclone 2-pack" souvenir set with Lift-Ticket at BotCon 2015.
- This toy was repurposed as Shattered Glass Skids. This mold was also used to make Age of Extinction Rollbar, and was retooled into Generations Crosscut.
Legacy
- Diaclone Universe Burn Out (Deluxe Class, 2022)
- Known designers: Mark Maher (Hasbro)
- Part of the first wave of the Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection sub-series of Transformers: Legacy, "Diaclone Universe Burn Out" is a redeco and retooling of the main-line Legacy Deluxe Class Skids, with a new "battle mask" head that closely resembles Crosscut. She transforms into a legally-distinct approximation of a Honda City Turbo, based on the black version of the Diaclone "No. 9 Honda City Turbo" toy.
- Both of her modes modes have multiple 5 mm post holes to mount these accessories, as well as making her compatible with the many "take apart to turn into weapons and armor for other bots" figures released in the prior years (first introduced as the "C.O.M.B.A.T. System" in Siege). Her two silver blasters are designed to combine into a triple-blaster by plugging the double-blaster upside-down into the bottom of the single-barrel one. You can even turn it into a quad-barrel weapon by adding the axe to the top; the silver single-barrel gun nestles neatly into the space behind the axe's handle-grip.
- The Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection was exclusive to Walmart in the US and the Farmers department store in New Zealand, with Hasbro Pulse receiving limited quantities of the figure. The series went up for pre-order on July 21, 2022, and started arriving in stores by August 1.

The new head is based on the box art of the original black Honda City Turbo Diaclone toy.

Notes

- Burn Out is based on the black coloration of Honda City Turbo (ホンダ・シティ・ターボ), the Diaclone toy whose blue version was used to create Generation 1 Skids.
- The black version of the Honda City Turbo was considered for inclusion in the Generation 1 line long enough to be used by Takara in a preliminary 1985 packaging mural.[1] (Said mural featured other oddities, such as the red Honda City R which would eventually inspire Reboost.)
- The name "Burn Out" comes from a Cobra-allied Dreadnok, as Fun Publications also held the G.I. Joe Club license at time of development.
- The official product description for Legacy Burn Out reads "He may not be the fastest, but Burn Out is determined to win the Speedia 500." The use of "he" is obviously an error, as Burn Out was explicitly referred to as female by the Hasbro team throughout the Hasbro Pulse livestream revealing her new figure, rather straightforwardly mirroring the original Timelines mech's female pilot.[2]
