The name or term "Shockwave" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Shockwave (disambiguation).
Shockwave is a Decepticon from the EarthSpark continuity family.
Finally a Shockwave who's not afraid to show a little tummy.

Years ago, Shockwave served as one of Megatron's top lieutenants during the war. His ambitions, however, eventually outgrew Megatron's once noble goals. To Shockwave, the weak should serve the strong, and the war necessary to enforce the glory of the Decepticon Empire. To this end, Shockwave toils away in his lab, plotting to conquer not only Cybertron, but Earth as well. And Shockwave can back that up, possessing enough strength and firepower to go toe-to-toe with his former commander, in robot or spider tank mode. The tool he has instead of his left hand can be used to blast or ensnare other bots and probe their minds, combined with various weapons and traps he keeps up his sleeves (literally, as his left arm is covered in buttons to activate them). Only through Megatron's change of heart and defection was the mad scientist defeated.

Unlike most other Cybertronians, Shockwave finds the Earthborn Terrans abhorrent, viewing them as disgusting hybrids unworthy of being considered Transformers.

The war continues so long as I stand to oppose you!

—Shockwave, "Warzone"

A mobile turret on roller skates is perfectly logical.

Shockwave originally served under Megatron during the war against the Autobots, however he assumed a leadership role upon Megatron's defection to the Autobots sometime after the war came to Earth. Planning to use the AllSpark to bring to life a massive protoform army that would bring Cybertron and Earth under Decepticon rule, Shockwave was stopped by Megatron when the former Decepticon leader snuck behind enemy lines to steal the AllSpark and return it to Cybertron. Uninterested in Megatron's pleas for peace, Shockwave was forcibly shoved into a stasis chamber by Megatron when his back was turned. Shockwave only muttering a spiteful "traitor" jab at Megatron as he went into slumber. In the battle that followed, the AllSpark was sent through the spacebridge connecting Earth to Cybertron, stranding the Earth-bound Transformers on the organic world and leaving the fate of the AllSpark unknown.

Many years later, Shockwave finally awoke from his forced imprisonment when his long derelict stasis pod malfunctioned, emerging to find Megatron with a group of humans and a new Transformers species known as the Terrans. Horrified at seeing that the spacebridge was destroyed, Shockwave grabbed the young Terran, Thrash, and performed a mind scan on him to see what Megatron's interest in them was. Shockwave was disgusted to learn the Terran was a hybrid of organic and Cybertronian material, calling him and his type abominations.

Vowing the war continued so long as he lived, Shockwave battled it out with Megatron. Intending to finish off his old leader for good he initiated an overload of the old power core chambers beneath them, which would wipe the whole local area. His efforts were thwarted when the Terran Nightshade was able to disconnect the wiring of the power cores, with Shockwave himself getting forced, once again, into stasis lock after a shot from the Immobilizer, courtesy of Megatron, while he was distracted by the human child, Mo Malto. His threat neutralized for now, the inert Shockwave was handed over to the forces of G.H.O.S.T. Warzone

Toys

EarthSpark

  • Shockwave (Deluxe Class, 2023)
    • Accessories: Mandroid BAF piece, arm cannon, gun, hose
Part of the second wave of EarthSpark Deluxe Class toys, Shockwave is a redeco of his Bumblebee Cyberverse Adventures Deluxe Class toy, rendering the toy fairly inaccurate. He also lacks the blast effects and Maccadam Build a Figure piece, though he still transforms into a Cybertronian tank in 20 steps. His eye, blasters, shoulders, and shins feature 3 mm posts compatible with blast effects. The cannon, which also includes a removable hose, must be removed for transformation, revealing a normal left hand, though it lacks a wrist rotation.
Shockwave includes an alternate Cybertronian left arm for the Mandroid Build a Figure, to replace his normal left arm, though it is inaccurately based on Nova Storm instead of Brawl, as seen in "Home, Part 2".
Hasbro stock photography (right) is mistransformed; his "pincers" from his tank mode are not folded down, making it appear as though he has spiked shoulders in robot mode.
