Shockwave is a Decepticon from the EarthSpark continuity family.
Finally a Shockwave who's not afraid to show a little tummy.

Years ago, Shockwave served as one of Megatron's top lieutenants during the war. His ambitions, however, eventually outgrew Megatron's once noble goals. To Shockwave, the weak should serve the strong, and the war is necessary to enforce the glory of the Decepticon Empire. To this end, Shockwave toils away in his lab, plotting to conquer not only Cybertron, but Earth as well. And Shockwave can back that up, possessing enough strength and firepower to go toe-to-toe with his former commander, in robot or spider tank mode. The tool he has instead of his left hand can be used to blast or ensnare other bots and probe their minds, combined with various weapons and traps he keeps up his sleeves (literally, as his left arm is covered in buttons to activate them). Only through Megatron's change of heart and defection was the mad scientist defeated.

Unlike most other Cybertronians, Shockwave finds the Earthborn Terrans abhorrent, viewing them as disgusting hybrids unworthy of being considered Transformers.

A mobile turret on roller skates is perfectly logical.

Shockwave originally served under Megatron during the war against the Autobots, however he assumed a leadership role upon Megatron's defection to the Autobots sometime after the war came to Earth. Planning to use the AllSpark to bring to life a massive protoform army that would bring Cybertron and Earth under Decepticon rule, Shockwave was stopped by Megatron when the former Decepticon leader snuck behind enemy lines to steal the AllSpark and return it to Cybertron. Uninterested in Megatron's pleas for peace, Shockwave was forcibly shoved into a stasis chamber by Megatron when his back was turned. Shockwave only muttering a spiteful "traitor" jab at Megatron as he went into slumber. In the battle that followed, the AllSpark was sent through the spacebridge connecting Earth to Cybertron, stranding the Earth-bound Transformers on the organic world and leaving the fate of the AllSpark unknown.

Many years later, Shockwave finally awoke from his forced imprisonment when his long derelict stasis pod malfunctioned, emerging to find Megatron with a group of humans and a new Transformers species known as the Terrans. Horrified at seeing that the spacebridge was destroyed, Shockwave grabbed the young Terran, Thrash, and performed a mind scan on him to see what Megatron's interest in them was. Shockwave was disgusted to learn the Terran was a hybrid of organic and Cybertronian material, calling him and his type abominations.

Vowing the war continued so long as he lived, Shockwave battled it out with Megatron. Intending to finish off his old leader for good he initiated an overload of the old power core chambers beneath them, which would wipe the whole local area. His efforts were thwarted when the Terran Nightshade was able to disconnect the wiring of the power cores, with Shockwave himself getting forced, once again, into stasis lock after a shot from the Immobilizer, courtesy of Megatron, while he was distracted by the human child, Mo Malto. His threat neutralized for now, the inert Shockwave was handed over to the forces of G.H.O.S.T. Warzone

Croft gave Shockwave to Mandroid for experiments and the scientist placed a mind-control device on the Decepticon. Thus mind-controlled, Shockwave was waiting at the other end of the spacebridge when Nightshade, Robby, Twitch and Thrash went through. Stowed Away, Stowaways Shockwave pursued the group into Witwicky and was eventually taken down. The unconscious Shockwave was taken back to the Malto farm, where the kids successfully removed the control device and brought him round. As G.H.O.S.T. closed in on the location, Shockwave was able to give Hashtag an old Decepticon distress frequency, allowing them to call in Megatron, Optimus and the other Autobots to help against the attacking Ghoids. Shockwave was unaffected when Croft activated a device to deactivate the Autobots, though the Ghoids were able to restrain him. The Battle of Witwicky As a way of asserting his dominance, the newly upgraded Mandroid drained Shockwave of his energon, rendering the Con inert. The Last Hope, Part 1 Shockwave was revived when Robby and Mo used their cyber-sleeves to reverse the effects of Mandroid's energon-draining superweapon. The Last Hope, Part 2

A year after Mandroid's defeat, Shockwave joined the Decepticons' efforts to recover the shards of the Emberstone under Starscream's command. He was one of the cons sent to the naval yard to recover three new shards. During the fight he chased Thrash and Mo. When the shards were discovered to be part of a diversion, he and the others were ordered back to base. Aftermath Days later, Starscream tasked Shockwave with tracking down Croft's G.H.O.S.T. hard drive. To this end, Shockwave snuck into the recycling center where the Maltos were dumping all of the old G.H.O.S.T. tech. He used his extendable claw to covertly scan the incoming hard drives, but failed to find the right one. Shockwave reported his setback to an irate Starscream. He continued to spy on the Maltos and observed Hashtag moving several crates of drives. After Ravage likewise failed to retrieve the drive from the Autobot base, Shockwave deduced that the drive was in Hashtag's possession. Shockwave then intercepted Hashtag returning to the recycling center and demanded the drives from her. Hashtag refused, and a high speed chase ensued through the streets of Witwicky. Hashtag managed to briefly flummox Shockwave by scanning a new alt mode, but he later got the drop on her. During the fight, Shockwave managed to grab Croft's drive, but Hashtag reclaimed it and made a clean getaway. Back at the Decepticon base, Shockwave reported to Starscream that he lost the drive but had scanned the necessary data. He then projected a hologram showing a section of Witwicky topography, to Starscream's delight. Control Alt Delete Later, Shockwave was present at the Decepticon base and watched a body-swapped Twitch talking with Aftermath. The Imposters

When Starscream's plans to conquer Earth neared completion, he gave a grand speech to his troops. Shockwave interrupted him and criticized his focus on Earth, saying they should instead focus on getting back to Cybertron. Starscream quickly countered, saying Shockwave had not provided proof Cybertron even still existed. During the Autobot attack on the base, Shockwave lurked in the shadows and watched Robby and Twitch grab the ember shards. Despite having the pair in his crosshairs, Shockwave ultimately decided not to fire. Later, Shockwave and the other cons watched Starscream raise a Titan from beneath Witwicky. A blow from the behemoth shattered the cliff they were watching from, sending all of them flying. Shockwave declared that Starscream's reckless actions endangered them all and called on the Decepticons to follow him instead. The group attempted to flee, but were trapped by the force shield created by the Maltos to contain the rampaging Titan. Witwicky, Part 2

When Bumblebee, Thrash, and Mo entered the dome to get a comic for Robby, Shockwave confronted them as they were about to leave. He snagged the comic they were after to use as a bargaining chip. He found the cover of the comic with his image to be distasteful, but he promised to return in exchange for being freed from the dome. He attempted to persuade them that under his leadership the Decepticons were more logical. Thus, they could be counted on to keep their bargains. When Bumblebee proposed a race with Breakdown to settle the standoff, Shockwave agreed. He mapped out the course and said that other than completing the course, there were no rules. When Bumblebee won, Shockwave returned the comic as per their agreement. He allowed them to leave but warned them the Autobots would not be welcomed on Cybertron if they did not release them. The Need for Read

When an Autobot spacecraft landed in the dome, the Decepticons sought to seize it in order to escape Earth. Shockwave ordered the cons to find a way into the ship without destroying it. He ordered a retreat when the ship’s defensive cannons opened fire on them. Later, Laserbeak's surveillance revealed that Prowl had arrived alone and the ship was vulnerable. Shockwave declared that capturing the ship was the priority over settling scores with the Autobot tracker. The Decepticons renewed their assault, and furiously fought against Optimus and Prowl. Eventually Shockwave captured Prowl, and Optimus was defeated. A jolt of chaos energy reactived the ship, and all the cons scrambled on board as it lifted off. Megatron landed on the boarding platform and ordered Shockwave to surrender. Shockwave coolly said that the Decepticons no longer followed his orders, but he could still join them if he abandoned the Autobots. Megatron refused and left to rescue Optimus, leaving Shockwave exasperated. The ship then left Earth’s atmosphere and warped away. No Soldier Left Behind

EarthSpark

[edit]
  • Shockwave (Deluxe Class, 2023)
  • TakaraTomy ID Number: ESD-06
  • Accessories: Mandroid BAF piece (Hasbro release only), arm cannon, gun, hose
Part of the second wave of EarthSpark Deluxe Class toys, Shockwave is a redeco of his Bumblebee Cyberverse Adventures Deluxe Class toy, rendering the toy fairly inaccurate to the character's appearance in the show. He also lacks the blast effects and Maccadam Build a Figure piece, though he still transforms into a Cybertronian spider tank in 20 steps. His mono eye, blasters, shoulders, and shins feature 3 mm posts compatible with blast effects. The cannon, which also includes a removable hose, must be removed for transformation, revealing a normal left hand, though it lacks a wrist rotation.
Shockwave includes an alternate Cybertronian left arm for the Mandroid Build a Figure, to replace his normal left arm, though it is inaccurately based on Nova Storm instead of Brawl, as seen in "Home, Part 2".
While the deco remained unchanged in the TakaraTomy release, Shockwave doesn't come with a BAF Mandroid piece.
Hasbro stock photography of the toy is mistransformed; his "pincers" from his tank mode are not folded down, making it appear as though he has spiked shoulders in robot mode. The stock photography is also inexplicably missing the panels on the sides of his waist.

  • Shockwave (Warrior Class, 2023)
Part of the fourth wave of EarthSpark Warrior Class toys, Shockwave is a redeco of the Cyberverse Shockwave toy, converting from robot to spider-tank-thing and back. His Action Attack gimmick causes magenta "energy blast" effects to pop out of his back-mounted cannon when it's swung up over his shoulder.
