In universal stream Aurex 1104.30-DB Zeta (a highly Primax-influenced universe), Groove was born from Dr. Brian Jones's attempts at reverse-engineering Maximus combiner technology and applying it to Mini-Con anatomy. Superion, Defensor, and Rail Racer fought Devastator in the Combiner Wars during the Unicron Singularity crisis. At some point, he was abducted by Unicron. Ask Vector Prime

Groove was one of the many Transformers held in the Cauldron, the death-pit deep within the shattered remains of Unicron. He and the other Protectobots formed Defensor when Trailbreaker and Silverbolt released the prisoners, making a break for freedom. Escape

- Autobot Groove (Micromaster Protectobot, 2004)
- An exclusive to Kay-Bee stores, Groove is almost identical to the Micromaster reissue of Glide, transforming into a street performance motorcycle of undetermined model. His standard placement is as the "ass-guard" of Defensor, but he can also be used as the chest (which, due to his thin alternate mode, looks weird). He came with Defensor's pelvis and thighs.
