Human-faced pyramid

This article is about a character or concept that lacks a name, but has an official term or designation.

The human-faced pyramid (人面ピラミッド jinmen pyramid) is a building left behind by the previous inhabitants of Gaia. It is a stone pseudo-pyramid that towers high above the trees of the surrounding jungle in the South Continent. Its most striking feature is the giant human head chiseled on one side, which has broad features and rather unhumanlike fangs and the only certain way into the pyramid is through its nostrils. Atop the pyramid is a structure that seems to be a hypostyle, which sticks out almost like a crown. The building stands atop an Angolmois Energy reservoir and still broadcasts a signal identifying the energy as such, but the building's actual purpose is unclear. It may, however, have been the same as that of a similar facility in the Sea Continent. On some walls, ancient script remains, but no one left knows how to read it.

Presumably because he wanted to have time and peace away from his Insectron colleagues, Mantis took up residence inside the abandoned human-faced pyramid. He had his peace and then the Lio Convoy Unit picked up an energy anomaly in the South Continent all the way from the North Continent and came knocking. Their investigation led them to the human-faced pyramid, which was the source of the energy reading and in close vicinity also turned out to emit an ancient signal that revealed the energy to be called "Angolmois Energy". Closer inspection with a dispatched reconnaissance robot was literally cut short by Mantis, of whose sickle the camera caught a glimpse before it ceased functioning. Lio Convoy and Apache made the decision to personally go take a look, but on the way they were spotted by Starscream and BB, who followed them to the pyramid. The two Maximals fled into the head's left nostril and were unable to go back outside because the Combatrons kept bombarding around the nose. Therefore, they proceeded further into the pyramid, where the noise had already alerted Mantis of the intruders. Lio Convoy and Apache got separated when Apache pushed a button he spotted next to text he couldn't read and thereby triggered a trapdoor to open underneath him. Mantis found him in the hallway below and took him prisoner, but Apache's scream of fright clued in Lio Convoy as to his situation and whereabouts. He followed the smell of two sets of oil and the trail of blue fur to what may have been a hidden door, but if so Lio Convoy didn't know how to open it and just bashed through. There, he found Apache tied up against the wall and Mantis ready to kill the both of them. He came close to ending Lio Convoy, but an enraged Apache broke free and saved his leader. Before more fighting could occur, the pyramid started to crumble because outside Starscream and BB had stepped up their game and ignited explosives all around the base of the pyramid. As the ground crumbled away, Lio Convoy caught Mantis before he could fall into the Angolmois Energy below, which amused the flight-capable Insectron. He broke free and flew to safety while Lio Convoy and Apache found a different route to escape the collapsing pyramid timely. Mystery of the Ancient Ruins

Notes

[edit]
  • The pyramid is referred to as both kodai iseki (古代遺跡, "ancient ruins"), as per the episode title and Bighorn, and jinmen pyramid (人面ピラミッド, "human-faced pyramid"), as per NAVI and Lio Convoy.
