Adding MSRP to wiki
[edit]Other Links: Idea Proposal Talk Thread, My MSRP Catalog
Price Sources and Currencies
[edit]Hasbro Pulse is directly MSRP. Major retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc where the price is usually the same as MSRP. Be wary of smaller sellers who tend to have markups (ex. BigBadToyStore usually has $1 higher than MSRP). Exclusives should prioritize the price where it's meant to be sold.
The Brickset database for Lego lists the Pound, US Dollar, and Euro prices for their sets (ex Lego Prime is "RRP £159.99/$179.99/€179.99"). Don't know if we want to go that detailed for TFWiki so for simplicity's sake I will start by only adding USD, if more gets added down the road then so be it. Though not everything comes to US retail, such as the ROTB single packed Deluxes, so a separate currency needs to be used, maybe Euro or Yen?
Speaking of Yen, a lot of Transformers stuff originates from Japan/Takara markets so listing the Yen prices seems appropriate for those even if they get a US MSRP, like Masterpieces and Missing Link. As such I will be including JP Prices for such items.
Formats & Variations
[edit]I've made two formats for adding MSRP Prices, at current I am leaning more towards using STYLE 1
- Testing with SS86 Bumblebee
| STYLE 1
Add price in top parentheses. This is simple and convenient for most toys and does not need an extra line
|
STYLE 2
Add price as additional line under toy name. bit wasteful unless there is more info to be added, like additional currencies or price change
|
Reissues (particularly when price changes) Testing with SS38 Optimus Prime
| STYLE 1 (parentheses) | STYLE 2 (line) |
Multiple Currencies/prices (mostly Japan prices) Testing with Missing Link Convoy
| STYLE 1 (parentheses)
Missing Link
|
STYLE 2 (line)
Missing Link
|
"Takara variants", most probably aren't worth mentioning for recent releases are identical, but I bring this up because Takara's Earthspark line went back to doing its own classes with better paintjobs. Not sure if that makes it different enough to list the JP Price but testing some formats anyway. Test being done with Warrior Thrash since Takara prices him the same as a Deluxe class in their DX Lineup (yen price taken from takaratomymall.jp)
STYLE 1 (parentheses)
- Terran Thrash (Warrior, US$14.99/JP¥3850, 2023)
- TakaraTomy name: DX Terran Thrash (DXテランスラッシュ)
- TakaraTomy ID Number: ESD-09
- TakaraTomy release date: March 16, 2024
- Accessories: Sidecar/shield-blaster
STYLE 2 (line)

- TakaraTomy name: DX Terran Thrash (DXテランスラッシュ)
- TakaraTomy ID Number: ESD-09
- TakaraTomy release date: March 16, 2024

- TakaraTomy MSRP: JP¥3850

MSRP Collapsible Template
[edit]created a template for MSRP (Template:MSRPtest) by copying Template:Toydesigner. Basically should function like Style 2.
Usage Guide: Considering TFwiki is primarily US-based, US price should be the default and in the first parameter, with prices from other countries/currencies being in the second parameter if known.
Haven't decided where it should go on the totem pole of things under the figure name but for now I put it at the top.

- Wheeljack (Que) (Deluxe Class, 2025)
- MSRP: US$24.99{{#if: €29.99, £24.99, JP¥4400|, €29.99, £24.99, JP¥4400}}
- Movie: Dark of the Moon
- Accessories: blaster, "naginata spear"
- Known designers: Evan Brooks (Hasbro), Takashi Kunihiro (TakaraTomy){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- Studio Series Que with current deluxe prices from Habsro Pulse US, UK, EU, and Takara.
If the item was not officially released in the US, the primary market goes in the first parameter. This will more than likely be Japanese Yen for Takara exclusives. Importer prices (such as from BigBadToyStore) should NOT be considered MSRP as they did not come from Hasbro/Takara themselves!

- Starscream Super Mode (スタースクリーム
S , 2024)
- MSRP: ¥7000{{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- ID number: TL-EX
- Release date: 2024 September 13
- Accessories: Energon Sword, Star Saber, Fire Blast effects
- Released exclusively at the 40th Anniversary Transformers Expo 2024 and was not imported by Hasbro unlike most other recent Takara exclusives.
Reissues (particularly when price changes): this can be up for debate but personally I think reissue prices should be in the first parameter alongside the original price. Reissue prices for other currencies should be arranged similarly in the second parameter if known.

- MSRP: US$29.99 / US$34.99 (reissue){{#if: €29.99, £29.99 / €42.99, £34.99 (reissue)|, €29.99, £29.99 / €42.99, £34.99 (reissue)}}
- Movie: Bumblebee
- Hasbro ID number: 38
- TakaraTomy ID number: SS-30
- Originally released in 2019, and was reissued as a GameStop exclusive after the March 28, 2024 fanstream.
- Note: I made up the extra prices in "more" just for the sake of testing, idk what the actual prices for it were
Rarer but if an item has some sort of "variants" with different prices that are kept under the same entry, use a notation similar to reissues, putting the name of the "variant" in parentheses.

- Mirage Clear Ver. (ミラージュ クリアーVer., 2024)
- MSRP: ¥4980 (single) / ¥19920 (4 pack){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- TakaraTomy ID Number: BD-06
- Accessories: Arm cannon
- This clear Mirage was sold individually with an exclusive TV-Kun magazine and also as a 4 pack to represent multiple clones, which included a special Autobot Logo sticker.

- Megatron (2024)
- MSRP: $2499.00 (regular) / $2799.00 (Deluxe) / $3199.00 (Ultimate){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- Movie: Transformers
- ID number: MMTFM-34 / 34DXS (Deluxe) / 34UTS (Ultimate)
- Accessories: Base, fusion cannon (DXS, UTS), flail (DXS, UTS), alternate left arm (DXS, UTS), alternate head (DXS, UTS), Jazz's corpse (Ultimate)
- This Megatron statue has "Regular Version", "Deluxe Bonus Version", and "Ultimate Bonus Version" with different assortment of accessories per version.
Not sure how often this might come up, I've only seen with Robosen products so far, but pre-order discounts or similar such low prices should be considered as "sale" prices, not MSRP. Can be mentioned in the text but should NOT be added to the template.

- Megatron Auto-Converting Robot (2024)
- MSRP: US$1199.00{{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- Accessories: Carrying Case, Sword, Mace, 4 tank shells, Optimus Prime paper target, Collector coin
- MSRP was $1199 but a special "early bird" price of $899 was available until May 25th.
For items with price range, can probably just list the known range of prices like below. Most likely will be used for Generation 1 era stuff, since MSRP wasn't really a thing yet with individual chains and stores setting the price themselves.
Though technically this means it isn't the manufacturer's price which makes using "MSRP" a bit of a misnomer...
Perhaps the template text could be changed to "Price:" instead of "MSRP:" but I feel it makes it too ambiguous and open to posting any known price.

- MSRP: US$6.97-US$12.99 (depending on retailer){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- Takara ID number: 04
- Accessories: laser gun, rocket launcher, 3 rockets
- Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy){{#if: Jeffrey Mangiat (packaging artist)|, Jeffrey Mangiat (packaging artist)}}
- According to the "Transformers Original Prices 1984~1995" Google Sheet shared by M Sipher, the original prices of the G1 "Autbot Cars" assortment could range from $6.97 to $12.99 in the US depending on the retailer.
Messing with tables
[edit]experimenting with tables to see how they work/if they can be made to look better
- class="wikitable" has been added solely for the purpose of actually being able to see the columns and rows
Sample Table from Mediawiki Help:Tables
| This column width is 85% of the screen width | |
| This column is 30% counted from 85% of the screen width | This column is 70% counted from 85% of the screen width |
Table from Studio Series 2023 Exclusives
Goal: see if there's a good way to reduce whitespace on lower row. has been added to show what the table really looks like. Below is the orignal as a control reference.

Changes: added colspan, reduced 3 lines of space. removed extra |, not sure if they're actually needed for the table but they help readability when editing if anything. they're used on most the tables on tfwiki so idk.
- If "|" aren't removed then colspan=3 was needed to clear the right amount of space

Changes: take 2: formatting in cell instead of table shenanigans. Turns out iconlist is incompatible with collist so this was a bust unfortunately. Leaving iconlist out results in </li> appearing, but adding it causes the list to disappear completely. otherwise it would've been great
UPDATE: using a simple <ul> instead of <ul class="iconlist"> will work with collist. It also indents by default so adding : is unnecessary.

Legacy
[edit]- Wreck 'N Rule Collection (2022)
- Known designers: Mark Maher (packaging concept), AJ Piejko-Brown (hammer)<ref>Ben MacCrae's promotional Instagram post for the Wreck 'N Rule Collection</ref>{{#if: Mario Carreiro (Production Designer), Picture Plane (package art)<ref>Discord conversation with AJ Piejko-Brown (Boxitron)</ref>|, Mario Carreiro (Production Designer), Picture Plane (package art)<ref>Discord conversation with AJ Piejko-Brown (Boxitron)</ref>}}
- The Amazon-exclusive Legacy Wreck 'N Rule Collection consisted of 5 packs with a total of 7 Wrecker figures. All five boxes could be stacked together to form a collage of the 7 Wreckers around a statue of Xaaron holding a Wreckers hammer. Additionally, each pack had part of a buildable cardboard display of said hammer, the base of which has Ancient Autobot text which reads: "Creator of the Wreckers Resistance - Emirate Xaaron". Both of these honor his history in the UK Marvel comics.

There were further releases in Buzzworthy Bumblebee this year, some of which continued the range of NEST-themed redecoes, and none of which were released in waves or regular assortments. Another Transformers 15th anniversary set, this time for most of the Decepticons, was available on Amazon. Starting on Black Friday, Walmart re-released multiple older Studio Series Deluxes in two packs the price of one Deluxe for the holiday season. These toys were unchanged in their original boxes, shrink-wrapped together on a cardboard backing with a new pricing barcode.

- Walmart had a large number of exclusives; first came a trio of normal Legacy-packaged Deluxe beast-bots (which were sold as Farmers exclusives in New Zealand).
- Next came the "Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection", which focused on characters on the namesake planet participating in the namesake race. The first assortment was revealed on the June 23 2022 Fanstream. A second assortment of Deluxe Class toys was revealed in early October, without prior announcement.<ref>Transformers Velocitron Speedia 500 Deluxe G2 Shadowstrip & Crasher Out In New Zealand – First In-Hand Images at TFW2005</ref> Distribution of this second wave of product has been... let's politely call it varied. - In 2023, Walmart re-released all the Legacy Deluxes from the first year in two-packs for the price of one Deluxe from Black Friday through the holiday season. These toys were unchanged in their original boxes, shrink-wrapped together on a cardboard backing with a new pricing barcode.

Original, looks fine on desktop but messes with look on phones a bit, bleeding off and creating a margin to the right
Table format does not look good on desktop and is not adaptive to mobile so complete failure lol
Gallery tag format adaptive to screen changes (third image moves to new line instead of creating margin) but doesn't visually match the thumb format... also size parameters are not adaptive to individual images.

-
If the Hasbro-organized official BotCon were still running, this would likely be used for a customization class.
