Madman Headmasters

[edit]

I noticed you had asked for this at Seibertron, but it didn't seem that anybody there actually replied to your request. I asked a friend and he says when you play the first episode of Disc 1, after the opening titles sequence you get the episode title, then the episode itself. Does that help? I assume this means Madman's set is almost exactly the same is Metrodome's. --FFN 11:54, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Just a further note on this Chris in case you didn't catch it. I bought the Madman set and apart from properly synching up the English tracks to the two episodes that were way off, everything else is the same. Right down to other episodes' English tracks being 'slightly' off and (more annoyingly) the incorrect subs popping up in "Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!!". You'd think two years would have been enough time to correct this gaffe, but there you go! --Jon T 08:44, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Titan Transformers comic

[edit]

Do you know if any scans of the Titan Transformers comic are availiable on the Interwebs? I haven't found anything past issue 2 since Demonoid took down their tracker. --FortMax 17:05, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Various protected userpages

[edit]

Could you delete the protected User and User Talk pages owned by the various trolls and possibly add the pages to the title blacklist? I don't really like the idea of those pages being kept around for posterity. Crazy Idea

[edit]

We've been doing stuff for the Energon cartoon called a 'Pain count' where we list stupid cliches and number how many times they happen in the episode. I've proposed doing the same thing for Beast Machines, with an idea from Walky being 'Episode jerk', where we list the character in the episode that the writers decided should be a jerk this week. I propose we do a Pain count for the japanese G1 episodes, as well as a 'Bizzarro RMT 1 dialogue' where we list particularly weird and amusing lines from the dubs. What do you think (because I think you're one of the only ones here with the DVDs...) --FFN 17:10, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

I would totally do the RTM 1 dub stuff, but I could only do that for HM, since the MF and V DVDs don't have the dubs on 'em. But then, that involves actually having to, y'know, watch them. :) I don't think I'd be much good at doing a "pain count" for the eps, though... it doesn't seem to come through in subs the way the Energon dub stuff does. Or I'm entirely too charitable towards them. Pick one. :) - Chris McFeely 17:22, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, okay, amusing dub stuff is more than enough :D --FFN 17:26, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

With new Animated episodes SO very close here in the UK, my window-for-being-spoiled is rapidly decreasing, and I'm growing exponentially enraged every time someone tries to chuck a brick through it. - Chris McFeely 22:13, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I dunno about you, but certain users are starting to really rub me the wrong way with the constant edit warring on the Animated cast page and the constant calling us "hypocrites" when we don't let them add the maximum amount of their Dubai-leaked info to the page. It's like now that we've set limits on what can appear there, they're bound and determined to do the letter of the law so they can still look like savvy experts for having seen the leaked episodes.--RosicrucianTalk 14:03, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Episode scripts?

[edit]

Hey McFeely, did "Starscream's Ghost" get an episode script on your Earth 2 DVD's? Any chance i could get a copy of it? (I want to speculatively waterboard it and see if it yields up anything useful.)

And aw crap, I just realized that glass of water I spelled completely soaked a 25 year old Transformers book! ...oh well, that one sucked anyway. -Derik 16:29, 24 March 2009 (EDT)

It did, but it's useless - while it is an original Sunbow document, it's only a dialogue transcription made from the finished episode, rather than a shooting script. - Chris McFeely 16:45, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
Dialog may be adequate for my purposes, or at least interesting to compare to if you have it. -Derik 20:36, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

[edit]

Not to tell you how to do your job, but you may want to apply some level of protection toward Ultra Magnus and Shockwave...what the hell is wrong with this show? Episodes are shown early, they're shown late. I just don't get it. -- SFH 18:33, 24 March 2009 (EDT)

Good point! *does so* In this instance, I believe it was stolen from the depths Cartoon Network's website, or something? It hasn't aired anywhere in the world, certainly. - Chris McFeely 18:47, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
Cartoon Network hosted it on their site early, those morons at 4chan found it and leaked it. At least, that's the claim of someone on the oh-so-trustworthy TFW2005, who graciously advertised the leak on the front page. Antimatter 21:49, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
I'm guessing they uploaded it to the site, and someone just noodled around guessing filenames until- "Hey, there're the FLV's!"

Transformers Animated Comic

[edit]

I know it only appears not in the Transformers Universe comic, but it's still clearly a continuation of the original UK comic, so shouldn't it get its own page? I spent ages working out its code. Harley Quinn hyenaholic 08:51, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

We could give the story it's own page. Indeed, giving all of the new UK magazine's stories articles of their own, then linking back to a page for the issue of magazine itself where all the rest of the issue's content (reprints, letters, features) is discussed, is something that's been half-heartedly tossed around once or twice before. But it hasn't been settled on, and needs discussion, so just diving straight in without talking about it first was not the best way to go. We'll need to change all the other pages to match the style. Plus we certainly wouldn't move it to "Animated Comic issue 4", which doesn't exist. - Chris McFeely 08:57, 24 April 2009 (EDT)
Fair enough. *sighs* Just understand I do want to contribute. But since the 'issue' information was already written (I get mine about two months late) the only thing I could do was make the pages, which I did to the best of my ability. I was going to do #5 too, up until #4 was deleted. Harley Quinn hyenaholic 09:08, 24 April 2009 (EDT)
Believe me, we appreciate the enthusiasm! And this might be something that still merits doing, we just need to have a bit more discussion about it. CharlesRB has worked super-hard updating the wiki with info from the UK comic every month as soon as it comes out, so I think he ought to weigh in on a decision that'll mean a lot of his work will need breaking up and redistributing. - Chris McFeely 09:10, 24 April 2009 (EDT)
Perhap it could be called "Transformers Animated: Pullout". After all, that's what the fourth one had added to the title, and there's no title page for the fifth one. And they did advertise a new Animated strip for next month, even though Afterburn's story is all over (the Autobot base). They probably quit the individual comic because it was cheaper to compile it all in one comic than distribute two. Harley Quinn hyenaholic 09:23, 24 April 2009 (EDT)
I should think we'd just call it "Divebomb (story)" or "Divebomb (Animated comic)" or somesuch. - Chris McFeely 09:38, 24 April 2009 (EDT)
At the very least, the navigation can be improved to be able to click through the Animated comics. I was thinking of using the "series2" tag of the "comicnav" template. I can do that. - Starfield 10:41, 24 April 2009 (EDT)
I've been wondering if there should be a "Magnav" customized for magazine issue needs that matches the Comicstory template better for visual consistency. --Jeysie 20:39, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

Official Friends with Wookieepedia

[edit]

Hey, this is Graestan, Wookieepedia bureaucrat. I can't seem to find much about this site's history and so forth on my own, so I was wondering if you could clue me in some. Who founded it, and when did you split from Wikia? Anything would be quite helpful. Thanks. 70.230.183.73 18:05, 13 May 2009 (EDT)

Well you have to think of it in two phases. The founder of the Wikia wiki doesn't edit here (or there) anymore. He was bureaucrat, and essentially abandoned the thing half done. Wikia eventually gave the bureaucrat title to the people who were actually getting the site up to snuff. That was Walky and Suki. The leaving decision is a bit complex to give right here on the talkpage, so I might recommend here or in condensed bullet-point form here. After that, the wiki was hosted on the same servers as Blank Label Comics, where Walky's webcomic is hosted. After server uptime issues recently, we are in preparation for moving to a dedicated server. We have been able to cover hosting pretty much entirely off of the Project Wonderful ads so far, from what I've been told, and as you can see we don't have to run them in the article space like Wikia does.--RosicrucianTalk 18:13, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
Anything like dates for the actual events and so forth? I don't want to sift through; I'm just writing a short summary for the OFW page. 70.230.183.73 18:17, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
That I'm afraid I don't have. Walky would probably be the best to hit up for that.--RosicrucianTalk 18:27, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
Well, I don't know when the site was founded, honestly. And I don't know that there's a precise date for it, but the site really "came to life", as it were, in March 2006. We split from Wikia and moved here on September 15th 2008.- Chris McFeely 18:38, 13 May 2009 (EDT)

Victory Clip Show

[edit]

(16/5/09) Hi Chris! Here is the Victory Clip show episode you wanted: https://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=U0d4SlI5NmNIcWVGa1E9PQ

As I said, it's just a retelling of the last "real" episode of Victory, with stock footage of the Masterforce characters interacting with the Victory cast. It comes from the Pioneer release of the Victory DVD in japan in 2003, and I got it from yesasia for a ridiculous amount of money! (This was before TF:V got released in the UK)

PS: I was the voice of Galaxy Shuttle in the tfcog fandub of Victory from ages ago!

All the very best

I bow to you, sir! If you ever have the time or inclination, I beg you to repeat this epic feat with the other five clip shows from the end of the series! - Chris McFeely 05:40, 16 May 2009 (EDT)

Rory Again! Here is episode #40 of Victory. Bizzarely, Episode #39 is not on the Japanese DVD and goes straight into Episode #40 after #38. Maybe I should scan the booklet, that comes with this boxset, and get someone to translate it (This will probably explain the absence).

Animated cameo-bots

[edit]

While you're IDIng them all, could you update the featured characters list as well as the references list? Especially, where's Furão in the Decepticon Air crowd?

[And I would think that HD Animated would help more than just widescreen :). It was animated in HD, and downscaled as well as cropped before being released into the wild] - SanityOrMadness 14:46, 24 May 2009 (EDT)

Doing it right now. Specifically, Furão is the bot we thought was Hubcap (his non-yellow bits are Furão's blueish grey, rather than Hubcap's brown). - Chris McFeely 14:48, 24 May 2009 (EDT)

Robot Masters online comic titles

[edit]

I was about to write up an article for the Robot Masters online comic and I noticed you had some titles fo each issue in the storylinks at other pages. I was looking over the comics you sent me and I don't see any titles on the things themselves, so I'm guessing they were from the text stories that were posted on Takara's site with them? You wouldn't happen to have a link? Or, if they've already been translated, a list of the titles to make my job a little easier? --DrSpengler 11:55, 11 June 2009 (EDT)

Those titles weren't my doing, I'm afraid - I'd just put in links to "comic #x", and then someone replaced them with proper titles, which, yeah, I presume came from the text stories when they were online. I think it was Interrobang. - Chris McFeely 12:19, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Ach. Thanks! I'll just add the summaries as issue numbers and he can pop in the titles when/if he notices. --DrSpengler 12:40, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
I originally had the titles saved on my user page, but that got demolished by Bookworm. Wayback Machine has the page, thank goodness.

  2. 移りゆく統制 動乱のデストロン

You are in several ways The Man. My work computer can't display Japanese text, but when I get home I'll see that they get to the proper page.
On a related note, does anyone have a link to the Robot Masters online text stories? I had em screenshotted and saved on my old computer, but lost em when my hardrive self-destructed. --DrSpengler 15:22, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
You mean the text under the comics or something else? —Interrobang 15:28, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Monzo sent you and me the link over our PMs at the Allspark. I checked the link (thank god for my pack rat habits!) but it's gone - the infamous 404. Wayback Machine only nets you the text portion but I was able to save the comics themselves. --Lonegamer78 21:22, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
McFeely hooked me up with all the comics, though I'm missing the text portion. I must have deleted Monzo's PM by accident. I recall him sending it to me, but I can't find it anymore. --DrSpengler 22:03, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Spengs, if you need the text, they're in my Sandbox. The prologue is technically 5 paragraphs (by US English) but the third one was giving me trouble if I put a space in front of it. --Lonegamer78 09:02, 12 June 2009 (EDT)
The Wayback Machine has the text stuff. Just use the link I gave you. I'd save them all to an user page, but I'm drunk and lazy right now. —Interrobang 22:30, 11 June 2009 (EDT)

Alternity Nemesis Prime

[edit]

Awhile back, you among others fleshed out Nemesis Prime to include his Alternity profile. This was prior to the wiki starting its own translation effort, and to my knowledge referenced a TFW2005 translation which made reference to a "Supreme One" that healed Nemesis Prime's spark. In our current translation, it looks like that the notion of this entity may have been a bit of creative license on the translator's part. Since I know you've been involved in a number of translations, I wondered if you'd be interested in checking the work here to see which interpretation is correct. If we end up needing an article for the "Supreme One" that's all well and good, but I'd like to make sure it's a genuine concept first. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer! --RosicrucianTalk 14:54, 3 August 2009 (EDT)

If I spoke a shred of Japanese, I would offer my aid, but I don't know a word! I'm very much inclined to go with what lonegamer's done for us here, though, because the TFW translation came across as very patchy and stilted. - Chris McFeely 16:42, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
That would be Apcog's work if we're going to talk about the "Supreme One" in the text-heavy portions; I only worked on the comic. --Lonegamer78 19:01, 3 August 2009 (EDT)

Sorry to bother you with this but I wanted to know if I could get a ruling on this http://tfwiki.net/wiki/User_talk:Starfield#Techno-organic. Also, since the term Techno-Organic has appeared in the BW Sourcebook glossary, referring to First gen Beastformers, I was wondering if it should be given an article, since we;ve a decent understanding of what said forms are like (beast mode has organic components, robot has robotic essentially) or is it pointless, since we have the technorganic article (I would argue it's not since they refer to two different types of body) User:Eire 22.13 Sept 2 09 (UTC)

Just so you know for any other images you use from the artifacts section of my archive, that's all Raksha's work. I'm just mirroring the thing. --FortMax 16:28, 9 November 2009 (EST)

Hey you,

[edit]

I think you're duplicating a few screen captures I've already downloaded :p like that picture of Ironhide holding what looks like Red Alert but really isn't and the dialogue is pretty stupid anyway. :D --FFN 19:40, 10 November 2009 (EST)

Dangit, I totally did. I'm terrible for that. Takes long enough to make, format, upload and place the caps, checking to see if they already exist adds even more time to the process! :-P - Chris McFeely 19:41, 10 November 2009 (EST)
Excellent work on the cartoon stuff, either way :D --FFN 19:53, 10 November 2009 (EST)

G1 Cartoon Dudes

[edit]

If you're still on a G1 cartoon kick, I note that Rumble's cartoon fiction section is in reaaaally bad shape. --Monzo 14:13, 13 November 2009 (EST)

Mmmm, yeeeess. I was thinking "fill in all the 84 dudes", and I do like Rumble! But here's a question - when it comes to filling in Japanese fiction, should we consider Rumble the blue or red robot?? :D - Chris McFeely 15:56, 13 November 2009 (EST)
Good question. Standard practice is to favor American names over Japanese names, and Rumble is the blue robot's official name in the American cartoon. - Cattleprod 16:06, 13 November 2009 (EST)
Generally speaking, Rumble and Frenzy are almost always together when they show up in Japanese fiction and do the same things together, so this shouldn't really be an issue, as we can just refer to them collectively without having to worry about the distinction... except for... the only example I can think of... is when the blue robot sneaks into Vector Sigma's chamber in Headmasters. - Chris McFeely 16:08, 13 November 2009 (EST)
Well, I look at it this way. Let's say Japan had named the blue one "Jiggywiddit" instead of Frenzy. We'd still identify him as Rumble on this Wiki just as we identify all appearances of Meister as Jazz or Adams as Cosmos. It just so happens, though, that the blue guy wound up with somebody else's name M. Bison-Balrog-Vega style. Yo. Dawg. --DrSpengler 17:04, 13 November 2009 (EST)

DVDs, also Armada/ML

[edit]

Chris, are there any places to buy UK DVDs online that aren't Amazon UK? I finally decided to pick up RID (and maybe the TFTM blu-ray), but they're all either used or sold out there.

Also: just wanted to point this out. I own both ML and Armada on DVD, and while I've never done direct side-by-side comparisons of the entire thing, I feel there were changes between the two than That Random Guy Whose Name Escapes Me indicated, and adjusted the Armada cartoon page accordingly.

(I actually wonder if the changes were made specifically for the ML DVDs... there was this bruhaha in the Mega Man fandom where people were complaining about changes they thought the Mega Man NT Warrior dub had made, replacing random bits of animation, when it turns out the changes were made between the Japanese broadcast and DVD release versions.) --Monzo 09:36, 1 December 2009 (EST)

I was going to ask you where you'd got Micron Legend images from! If you're feeling hardy, you should totally make chronicling the differences your next project! There was a guy on the 2005 Boards who had the DVDs to and was doing it in a thread there, but be only got about a quarter of the way into the show, and the differences up to that point were only the most cursory recropping of shots and occasional recoloring of laser blasts. I've heard of changes being made for DVDs before - I recall, when I was actually watching Naruto early in its dubbed life, I saw some comparisons that showed how the US broadcast had more details in a few shots that had actually been done for the Japanese DVDs.
Anyway... unfortunately, I think the RiD DVDs are out of print (again!), so used may be your only option. I see Play.Com is no use... HMV doesn't have it... it's sold out on Zavvi... yeah, sorry, Monz, but things look bad on that front. :( I could take a look around local stores, though - if I find it, I could post it to you and you could paypal me. I'll take a quick look after work today! - Chris McFeely 09:58, 1 December 2009 (EST)
Well, shoot. I just tried to order the TFTM Blu-Ray from Play.com, and... they don't ship to the United States? What? --Monzo 10:45, 1 December 2009 (EST) EDIT: Nevermind on the blu-ray. Found it for sale on an American site, and figured any cost savings I'd get buying it from the UK would be punted by the shipping charges. --Monzo 11:25, 1 December 2009 (EST)
I don't think I've ever even seen the Blu-ray in person anyway. :) I'm off in an hour-and-a-half, so I'll take a look around and let you know if I have any luck with RiD once I get home. - Chris McFeely 11:39, 1 December 2009 (EST)
Sorry, Monz - no sign of it anywhere local. :( - Chris McFeely 15:40, 1 December 2009 (EST)
