Ultimately, Krieger would wind up manipulating Joe Colton into launching a genocidal attack on Cybertron; First Strike #0 his initial plan to double-cross his catspaw was foiled, however, and Merklynn wound up activating the Talisman prematurely, using its power to enchant Cybertron's energon reserves and remaking a portion of Cybertron's core into the city of "New Prysmos." In her opening speech during Cybertron's first electoral debate, candidate Windblade pledged to protect the people from "the creatures" living underground. The Chosen One At some point after winning the election, the Council of Worlds attempted to open a dialogue with the citizens of New Prysmos, but diplomatic efforts went nowhere until after Shockwave's Maximal attack, when Windblade sent Kup and Ironhide to negotiate with the aliens while Wheeljack and Breakdown examined the Talisman that had done this. When a surge of Talisman energy disintegrated Breakdown's arm, however, Wheeljack realized the quarantine shield they'd established around the city was ineffective. {storylink|Schismatic}}

Following the death of Kup, the Visionaries within the city split into two camps: Leoric's Spectral Knights sought to coexist peacefully with the Cybertronians, while Virulina's Darkling Lords aimed to take the planet by force. The brief power struggle saw the Darkling Lords destroy the quarantine shield, take the Cybertronian security guard Waspinator prisoner, and oust Leoric's loyalists entirely, with Virulina being crowned the new chancellor of the city. Cybertron No More Those Spectral Knights who chose to stay behind defected to the Darkling Lords at Cryotek's urging.

From their new base of operations in Iacon, Leoric tasked Arzon, Mortdred, and Witterquick with a stealth mission into New Prysmos so as to assassinate Virulina before she could consolidate her power. They failed to do so, and were taken prisoner by Virulina. Desperate Measures Realizing that he had to confront Virulina himself to set things right, Leoric returned to New Prysmos Good Men and swayed Cryotek and the other defectors back to the Spectral Knight cause before taking on Virulina. When Leoric awoke a week later, he discovered that New Prysmos had undergone a drastic metamorphosis: the city had teleported itself to the surface of Cybertron, and terraformed the surrounding area into a recreation of Prysmos's biosphere. With Virulina defeated and Merklynn imprisoned once more, Leoric and Arzon made peace and agreed to work together to keep the peace in their new city. The Curtain

This happy ending was short-lived, however: with Unicron preparing to attack Cybertron, Windblade and Ironhide travelled to New Prysmos to seek the Visionaries' help, and Leoric decided that they would have to harness the Talisman's power to teleport everyone on Cybertron to safety. New Prysmos was then destroyed when Unicron attacked and consumed the planet. Road's End

Trivia

  • The nature of the shield around New Prysmos is contradictory. While First Strike depicts that it was set up by Merklynn to keep Cybertronians out, Transformers vs. Visionaries describes it as a Cybertronian creation to keep Prysmosians in. It's also not entirely clear how the Prysmosians got in there in the first place.
