Greatshot is an Autobot Six Changer from the Victory portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Ironically, his aim is terrible.

A loner, the ninja-like Greatshot (グレートショット Gurētoshotto) took a while to become an Autobot team player. Of course, even after he did, he still prefers to do things his own way.

Greatshot's six modes, ranging from robot to rhino, make him one of the most lethal warriors the Autobots have.

'90s fanon made real.

To escape the wrath of the Six Clan that he betrayed and to atone for his past sins, Sixshot faked his death and became the Autobot Greatshot. As part of his redemption, he also resurrected Jack, who he murdered years ago, and the revived Cyberdroid served as Greatshot's Headmaster for a period that included Greatshot officially joining Star Saber's Autobots and putting an end to the Concurrence. Legends Comic: Bonus Edition Vol. EX (Greatshot)

Eventually getting his own head and becoming a whole Transformer again, Greatshot tended to be a loner, but would assist the Autobots at several points, including tackling his former Crossformer comrades and trying to turn his former friend Guyhawk to the side of good. When Ginrai fell in battle, Star Saber assisted Greatshot to lead the dying robot's Second Army. When the threat of Deathsaurus was ended for good, Greatshot returned to his mercenary ways and fought in the Silvart War.

YEAH!

While Ultra Magnus and Rodimus Prime high-fived and celebrated victories against the Decepticons, a shadowy ninja lurked in the background, cloaked by shadow. Greatshot claimed it was merely an act of desperation. No One Knows When He's Come or Gone. Greatshot...

Missing his jet nose and using another bot's guns... but still bad-ass!
  • Greatshot (1989)
    • Japanese ID number: C-325
    • Accessories: 2 "great lasers"guns
Greatshot is a retool of Sixshot with several completely new parts, including his shoulders, chestplate and both his robot and animal-mode heads. Like Sixshot, he has six different modes: a robot, a tank, a spaceship, a gun, an off-road vehicle, and a winged rhinoceros (retooled from Sixshot's wolf mode). Each of these modes has their own functionality, including things like a trigger (that is, a little plastic panel that springs back after you pull on it) for his gun mode. His two guns, retooled to have slightly longer handles than Sixshot's, fit into different holes in every mode.
As with Sixshot, Greatshot's robot mode is mostly a brick, with no real articulation to speak of.

  • Greatshot (Leader Class, 2018-03-31)
    • Japanese ID number: LG-EX
    • Accessories: Jack Headmaster, 2 "great laser" blasters
Legends Greatshot is an extensive redeco/retool of Titans Return Sixshot, with some new parts including the bigger chest wings and the rhino head. While Legends Sixshot's Headmaster is a new mold decoed like a miniature Sixshot, Greatshot's Headmaster, Jack, is a retool of Titans Return Revolver, albeit in different colors and with a new robot mode backpack for head mode faceplate. What is clearly an upside-down laser gun mode is still marketed as a submarine.
Greatshot was a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive. He was available for pre-order on 11 October at 12:00 am until 2 November at 1 pm, and was shipped on 31 March 2018.
The original version of this mold was also used to make Titans Return Quickswitch.

Notes

The ninja storm is growing! Shadowmaru is on the left.
  • For a while, there was much fandom speculation that Greatshot was an upgraded version of Sixshot. The supplemental character bio included with Greatshot's toy stated that he is a former compatriot of both Sixshot and Sixknight, who in turn were all members of the "Six Clan" that "secretly rules over the galaxy". Regardless, they both had the same actor, who voiced them both with a stereotypical [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}samurai|{{#if:||samurai}}]] movie dialect. The belief that the two were the same would eventually be made canon in Legends Comic: Bonus Edition Vol. EX, where the cartoon version of Greatshot was presented as an upgraded version of Sixshot.
  • The supplementary bio further states that Greatshot frequently carries out secret ninja missions, further tying him in with the "Ninja Staff Officer" Sixshot and the "Ninja Knight" Sixknight.
  • The Greatshot mold was later retooled to make the heroic "Ninja Detective" Shadowmaru for Takara's Brave Police J-Decker toyline. Amusingly, while the other 5 forms are of standard size for the series (assuming 5 meters in robot mode), his size for gun mode was increased to the point that, in Transformers terms, Omega Supreme could use him for an oversized rifle. Shadowmaru also had a prototype "brother", Kagerō, who could only change into three forms. He was not produced as a toy. More on Shadowmaru here.
  • In 2015, IDW Publishing's More than Meets the Eye comic series introduced Greatsix, a Decepticon under the command of the IDW incarnation of Deathsaurus, based on an early design of Greatshot and utilizing Shadowmaru's colors.
