Optimus Prime (Cyberverse)

Optimus Prime is an Autobot from the Cyberverse continuity family.

"Optimus will be back. He always comes back."

Optimus Prime is the legendary leader of the Autobots. With axe and hard light Autobrand shield in hand, he's taken on the Decepticons in more battles than you can count. As strong in mind as he is in body, Optimus' speeches and care for his men has led to him becoming widely respected. Even Megatron acknowledges his former friend's prowess enough that he'll enter occasional negotiations for peace. He's good friends with Bumblebee, who is practically his right hand bot. If you're looking for a hero, then he's your bot.

However, this heroism is something that was thrust upon him. Feeling the weight of his reputation, Optimus occasionally finds himself unable to connect to his far more relaxed crew in times of celebration. In times of peace, he'd much rather contribute to restoration efforts than continue on as active leader, despite his popularity. Until that day, Optimus Prime is the best leader an Autobot could ask for, and the worst nightmare a Decepticon could imagine.

Once a mere file clerk, Matrix of Leadership Optimus was drawn to the charismatic Megatron's campaign for change, becoming one of his closest allies. At the rally, Optimus stood amongst Megatron’s closest allies as he unveiled the Decepticon movement. Though the rally was a success, Megatron's growing power began to reveal darker shades of his personality and ambition. Megatron Is My Hero

Megatron eventually staged an attack on the High Council killing all of the councillors save Alpha Trion who had Bumblebee bring Optimus to him. Though Optimus blamed himself for the war, Trion reassured his protege that he had done what he felt was right and stayed true to himself. Before he passed however, Trion bestowed the Matrix of Leadership onto Optimus who accepted the talisman and became Optimus Prime. Matrix of Leadership

Optimus made one last effort to peacefully negotiate with his old friend, asking him to end his hostilities and allow them to diplomatically resolve their issues. With neither Megatron or Optimus willing to bend to the other, Megatron declared open war on his once friend and his faction. Megatron Is My Hero

As the war escalated, Optimus was captured by the notorious Shadow Striker who stashed him in an Energon warehouse. Before he could delivered, Optimus was rescued by Bumblebee and brought back to Autobot territory. Shadowstriker Another adventure saw him personally carry a wounded Prowl across a battlefield. Matrix of Leadership Optimus and Megatron had several peace talks during the war but never managed to come to an agreement. Witnessing one of these talks, Maccadam inspired Optimus to never lose hope, noting that a successful ceasefire would make all the failed attempts worth it. Parley

"I HAVE THE POWER!"

After learning that the Decepticons sought to use Vector Sigma to reprogram the AllSpark, Megatron Is My Hero the Autobots planned to keep the artifact out of Megatron's reach by sending it through a Space Bridge. Though the Decepticons put up a fierce fight, the Autobots ultimately succeeded in their goal, Decepticon firepower caused the Space Bridge to collapse after the AllSpark was sent through, sending it to parts unknown. Allspark Sometime later, Optimus and Bumblebee were being pursued by Starscream, Thundercracker and Nova Storm. After a short battle in the Grand Imperium resulting in the Seekers retreating, the pair reflected on Cybertron’s current state and how Optimus had failed to account for the debilitating effects that the AllSpark's absence would have on Cybertron. Realizing the mistake he'd made in launching the artifact, Optimus ordered the construction of a new Vanguard-class vessel so that the AllSpark could be located and retrieved. Matrix of Leadership

When the Ark was completed, it launched from Iacon. Fractured Among the Autobots joining him was Bumblebee, who shared a heartfelt goodbye with Windblade before Optimus called him to the ship. Memory

During their travels, the Autobots, running critically low on Energon, stopped on a nearby planet in response to an Energon reading. Once there, they found a race of subterranean creatures that attacked them on sight. During the battle, Optimus realized the creatures fed off of Energon and ordered his troops to retreat. Despite the planet containing much needed Energon, Optimus insisted it be left alone, finding it too high a moral cost to damn the aliens to extinction merely to ensure their own survival. Instead, he ordered the entire crew to enter stasis to conserve power. The Journey

On autopilot, the Ark made its way to Earth only to suffer a hull breach and crash, King of the Dinosaurs in Mount St. Hilary, its sleeping passengers blissfully unaware of their ship's fate. Awaken Sleeping Giants

This unintentional radio silence left many of the Autobots on Cybertron to question the fate of their missing comrades with Bumblebee's amnesia preventing him from answering Windblade's queries on Optimus's location. Fractured The Journey

Once Shockwave had hacked into Windblade and Bumblebee's cortical psychic patch, he trapped the scout in a fake memory that painted both he and Optimus as deep-cover Decepticons who had sabotaged the Ark. Realizing that Optimus would never commit such acts, Bumblebee managed to break free of the illusion. Sabotage

When Bumblebee's group had rediscovered the Ark, Teletraan-X managed to reactivate the ship and revive the crew. As Optimus caught up with his friends, getting a hug from Bumblebee, Teletraan informed everyone that a Decepticon fleet was bearing down on their location. Not wasting a moment, Optimus led his crew outside so they could confront their foes. Eruption

Optimus eventually addressed the populace of Earth on television to make the Autobot-Decepticon war public knowledge, and vowed to protect the planet to the best of his ability. Sea of Tranquility During this time, he also fought Megatron at a silo site. Spotted Later, he led the Autobots on an excursion to the moon to prevent the Decepticons from destroying the earth with his Planet Smasher. Optimus managed to overpower Megatron, forcing him to retreat, and he and the other Autobots managed to shut down the doomsday device. Sea of Tranquility Before they could pursue the Decepticons into the subterranean caves, the planetary engines the Decepticons had installed sprang to life and forced the moon on a collision course with Earth. Leaving a small team to work on deactivating the engines, Optimus lead his own squadron into the caves to secure the control room. Upon reaching their destination, the room self destructs, preventing them from disabling the engines. Fortunately, Wheeljack, Prowl and Hot Rod manage to hack the system and reverse the engines, moving the moon back into stable orbit. Satisfied, Optimus announced their victory to the people of Earth, echoing his previous promise to protect the planet. Bad Moon Rising

After returning to Earth, Optimus showed interest in the potential of Wheeljack's new Hyper Fuel to move the Ark out of its resting place. He later decided the material was too unstable for use after an incident involving a hyperactive Grimlock, one which he narrowly stopped through the use of Wheeljack's force shield blaster. The Visitor Shortly thereafter, Optimus was contacted by Megatron, who was holding Hot Rod captive, and demanded Prime give his own life if he wanted to save the young Autobot. Prime was prepared to agree, but when Hot Rod managed to free himself and escape, Optimus rescinded his agreement. Bring Me The Spark Of Optimus Prime

Now where have I seen this before?

After analyzing the GroundBridges appearing around the world to find their point of convergence, the Autobots sent Optimus through one to retrieve the AllSpark, where he found Megatron also arriving. Before they could clash, they were interrupted by Cheetor, the AllSpark's guardian, who granted them powerful new spark armor and pitted them against each other to win possession of the relic. While the two were distracted by the battle, Starscream snuck into the chamber and stole the AllSpark. Optimus, unaware of Starscream's new independence, accused Megatron of deceit and attempted to stop him, but Megatron escaped through another GroundBridge. Determined to prevent the Decepticons from misusing the relic, he convinced Cheetor to become their new ally and the two headed back to the Ark. Trials

After helping Cheetor make his acquaintance with the other Autobots, Optimus, along with Grimlock, Bumblebee, and Hot Rod, took Cheetor to the bridge, and had him explain his mysterious origins. After this explanation of his history, Optimus was determined to retake the AllSpark back from Megatron at all costs. To which, he led an assault on the Nemesis, and sent Cheetor, along with Hot Rod and Bumblebee, to find the AllSpark. As both Optimus and Megatron fought one another, they were interrupted by Cheetor, who explained how this conflict was pointless as the AllSpark wasn’t on the Decepticon warship, when Optimus demanded an explanation from Megatron, he discovered how Starscream had broken away from the Decepticons and stole the AllSpark for himself. This led to Optimus and Megatron calling a truce, and possible alliance against Starscream. Dark Birth

As Optimus prepared himself for negotiations with Megatron, he recalled a memory of Maccadam had encouraged him to never give up his diplomatic mindset until there was peace between all Cybertronians. This lesson would carry on into his latest attempts of negotiations with Megatron to discuss the danger of Starscream. Though initial strides were made, the underlying tensions between the two factions was triggered by the arrival of Slipstream, who had been trying to speak to Windblade but was killed by the Decepticons on the presumption that she was a traitor, leading to an all-out brawl. As a result, Megatron declared that there would be no peace between Autobots and Decepticons with Optimus declaring that the Autobots would have to stop Starscream alone. Parley

Not long after this, Optimus sent Bumblebee, Hot Rod, Windblade, and Cheetor to Starscream's lair, only to learn that the Decepticon had abandoned the base. Once they returned, however, they received an SOS from the Nemesis, which in turn prompted Optimus and a small group of Autobots to investigate, in turn, they discovered that something had drained all the Decepticons of their Energon. They would eventually meet the culprits in the form of the Scraplets, who managed to separate Optimus and Windblade from the rest of the group. As they made their way to the bridge, they saw Megatron laying on the ground, his Energon also drained. It didn't take long for the Scraplets to surround them and damage Optimus, it was then that Starscream revealed himself and explained his plan, and communed with the Scraplet who was supposedly Alpha Trion and explained how he wanted the Matrix of Leadership back. When Optimus refused, Starscream had their Energon completely drained, and was prepared to seize the Matrix, until he was bested by Cheetor, who managed to use the AllSpark to restore everyone and disable the Scraplets. However, he was unable stop Starscream from escaping with the AllSpark, it was then that Megatron permitted Optimus and the Autobots to leave. Starscream's Children

Optimus would then assign the Autobots to different tasks in hopes of finding Starscream and the AllSpark, but failed to account for Cheetor, who wasn’t acknowledged by the Autobot leader as he was working at one of the terminals on the Ark’s Bridge. Later, after hearing of Starscream’s attempt to kidnap Cheetor and Bumblebee, Optimus stated that Cheetor would make an excellent Autobot scout after hearing of his training as well. Spotted

Later, the Autobot leader would be on the Ark when they were unexpectedly attacked, believing the intruder to be Starscream, Optimus rallied the Autobots to retaliate, only to be surprised when instead it was in fact Sky-Byte, who wanted to challenge his mortal enemy, Jetfire. Optimus told the Decepticon that Jetfire was destroyed, but Sky-Byte didn’t believe it, and escaped to find the Nemesis. Not long after this, Optimus and the other Autobots would again be pleasantly surprised when the previously mentioned Jetfire appeared and went inside with the others to explain his long-running feud with Sky-Byte across the cosmos. But when the offer was made for Optimus and the other Autobots to help defeat the Decepticon once and for all, Optimus refused, stating that they had more important matters at hand, such as retrieving the AllSpark, and that it was Jetfire's choice on wether he wanted to save lives or destroy them.

Much later, Optimus was beaten down by Sky-Byte, who was infused with Spark Armor granted to him by Starscream and took the Autobot leader to a Colosseum. Jetfire had also brought Megatron there to meet with Sky-Byte to finish the feud. The ensuing battle would lead to Jetfire, Sky-Byte, and Optimus to fall into a cavern below, where Optimus was fairly wounded from the fall. In the end, Jetfire made the noble decision and rescued Prime before shedding his Spark armor, telling Optimus about the whereabouts of the AllSpark as they returned to the Ark. Infinite Vendetta

Guided by Jetfire to the GroundBridge Nexus, the Autobots were met by the Decepticons, themselves guided by Sky-Byte before Starscream arrived, now having merged with the AllSpark. As the Seeker tried to extract everyone's sparks, Optimus channeled the power of the Matrix of Leadership, blasting the AllSpark out of Starscream and ending his threat, though the act left Optimus in deep stasis. As his mind shifted through visions brought on by the Matrix, Optimus was placed in the Ark's sickbay as Hot Rod led the ship off Earth and towards the space bridge. When the Nemesis began bombarding the Ark, the chaos awoke Optimus and he made his way to the bridge. Entering just after Shockwave had destroyed Earth's space bridge, Optimus ordered a course set for Cybertron. Escape From Earth

When a C-Class emergency was raised in Hangar 7, Optimus came running only to find that his troops were having a victory party. Uncomfortable with such things, Optimus gave an awkward speech before he went to stargaze on the hull, being joined by Cheetor before Teletraan-X raised a genuine C-Class alarm. Working with Cheetor, Optimus discovered that Starscream had hacked Wheeljack's AllSpark emitter badges, overloading the Autobots who were wearing them. The trio fought their way to the AllSpark's containment device, Optimus smashing it to pieces to liberate his crew. With the festive mood ruined, Optimus made the ultimate sacrifice and did a little jig to get the party going once again. Party Down

When the Ark entered a thick debris field, Optimus ordered a new course plotted, even as Hot Rod, Bumblebee, and Cheetor went off for some solar-wave surfing. When the three returned, having managed to earn the ire of the Sharkticon race, Optimus watched as Cheetor used the AllSpark to recreate the Sharkticon homeworld. Wiped Out

On the bridge of the Ark, Optimus was alerted to Windblade having stolen the AllSpark and made for a nearby planet. Taking Cheetor, Bumblebee, and Hot Rod with him, Optimus followed the cityspeaker through an an abandoned city, facing off against a horde of automated defences, as an entity guided Windblade to bring the AllSpark to the city centre. Though the quartet caught up to Windblade, they were too late to prevent her from opening the AllSpark. To their surprise however, the entity revealed itself as a Titan, Croaton. Revealing that the city was once a Cybertronian colony, Croaton apologized for the trouble he'd caused before he returned the Autobots their shuttle and went on his way. Ghost Town

Forty cycles after their departure from Earth, the Ark was struck by an EMP that immobilized all electromechanical systems, save Arcee, Grimlock, and Teletraan who saved the ship from a supernova. Perfect Storm

When a distress call came in from Chromia, Optimus decided that they had to accelerate their return home. Finding a disused space bridge, Optimus ordered it repaired. When the portal activated however, it transported them all to unspace, the void between universes. Teaming up with several multiversal counterparts to the Ark, the Autobots used their AllSparks to return to their own universes, Optimus allowing himself a rare smile when the Ark entered Cybertronian orbit. The Crossroads

As he sent Jetfire and Windblade to scout the planet, Optimus tried to make contact Chromia. Unable to raise her, Optimus began to suspect a trap. Ordering the Ark evacuated, Optimus set the ship on automatic and entrusted the AllSpark to Cheetor, ordering Bumblebee and Hot Rod to defend him and instructing the three not to enter the Threshold of the Well until the Decepticons had been defeated. Battle For Cybertron I Battle For Cybertron II

Once the Ark had been destroyed by a laser snare, Optimus led his troops into battle. As he duelled Megatron, Optimus was targeted by Shadow Striker before Prowl took the shot at the cost of his life. Enraged, Optimus leapt at Megatron, swearing that this would be their final battle. Battle For Cybertron II

Pushing past Megatron, Optimus tried to enter the Threshold only to find it swarming with scraplets, forcing him back before Megatron pinned him down and summoned gigantic war-capable versions of Shockwave's drones. Summoning his shield, Optimus attacked the drones but was forced back by their sheer mass. Battle For Cybertron III

Finding a second wind, Optimus managed to turn the tide of the battle against the drones before Windblade informed him that Vector Sigma had been destroyed. Once the AllSpark had been restored to the core, Optimus declared the Great War over before Megatron, through Shockwave, tried to destroy the AllSpark, Cheetor's sacrifice saving the world. In a rage, Megatron lunged at Optimus who sent him back into the scraplets. After barring Shadow Striker from aiding her master, before declaring that it was time for Cybertron to transform for the better. Battle For Cybertron IV

The peace would not last long however. The Quintessons soon invaded Cybertron, locking the populace in a virtual reality that celebrated the Parade of Metals, Optimus serving as the Parade's grand marshal. The Loop

In the physical world, Hot Rod and Perceptor led the few free Cybertronians in a resistance. Though Perceptor pushed for Hot Rod to be a leader, he continued to doubt himself and tried to free Optimus to take command. Though Hot Rod made several attempts, even throttling his leader, Optimus could not overcome the Loop's programming. The Sleeper Along with the others, Optimus was later freed when Perceptor hacked into the Loop and introduced a flock of Air Hammers into the simulation. Optimus ordered his troops to roll out, their subsequent transformation freeing the Loop whereupon they retreated to Iaconus. The Scientist

Upon being informed of the magnitude of the Quintesson threat, Optimus was quick to agree to allying with the Decepticons but could not have Megatron join them. When the resistance tried to blow up the Quintesson ship, Optimus towed a warhead to the craft. While the Cybertronians proved able to defeat the Prosecutors, they were overwhelmed by the savage Sharkticons, Optimus' warhead being detonated. The Cybertronians were saved when Windblade managed to partially rouse Iaconus, unearthing his massive arm. The Alliance

When it was determined that the only way to destroy the Quintesson flagship was to draw out the Judge and its army, Optimus and Megatron led a strike team that infiltrated the ship. When the group reached the multiverse drive, they were confronted by the Scientist. While Megatron promptly shot the Quintesson dead, he deployed an army of backup bodies, Optimus and Bumblebee holding them off as Wheeljack, backed up by Megatron and Dead End, disabled the drive only for the Decepticons to betray Wheeljack as they fled to another universe. The Judge

Soon afterwards, the Judge, damaged beyond repair by Hot Rod's group, crashed into the ship, its out of control weapons collapsing it. With no recourse, the three Autobots used the drive and jumped into another universe only to be confounded by its shifting architecture. The End Of The Universe I Ordering Bumblebee to remain by the portal, Optimus tried to rescue Wheeljack only to be delayed by the architectural shifts.The End Of The Universe II Wheeljack eventually awoke and used his grappling hook to quickly reunite the trio. Passing back through the portal, the Autobots found themselves in the Scientist's laboratory, facing off against his endless supply of bodies before Wheeljack tracked the Scientist's command signal to his true body, a diminutive organic creature, and squashed him. With the alien dead, the three moved outside to deal with the brainwashed Croaton. The End Of The Universe III Arriving outside, the Autobots joined the fight against the Prosecutors before they were confronted by the new Judge, Starscream, who sought vengeance against Optimus for the Prime's crimes against him, before Megatron arrived aboard Astrotrain. With both leaders in one place, Starscream began using unspace to destroy the universe before both used their Matrices of Leadership to defeat the Judge, saving the universe. In the aftermath, the Transformers formed a truce. The End Of The Universe IV

As rebuilding commenced, Optimus focused his efforts on repairing the Grand Imperium before Jetfire and many others began asking for his advice and permission on their own reconstruction efforts. Hot Rod later informed Optimus of Bumblebee's mission in Decepticon territory, Optimus leading a force to the border. When they arrived, Megatron had surrounded Bumblebee, Whirl and Windblade, ready to execute them before Optimus argued that holding Windblade prisoner was a treaty violation. Having more urgent matters to attend to, Megatron released the prisoners. Enemy Line Optimus later struggled with a large pillar when he met the bombastic Thunderhowl, inducting the beastformer into the Autobots. Thunderhowl

While aiding in rebuilding Cobalt Springs, Optimus was confronted by Wildwheel, a former crew member of the Ark who had fallen from the ship as it entered Earth's orbit and felt abandoned by the Autobots, Prime in particular. Though Optimus attempted diplomacy, Wildwheel's anger led to him attacking a civilian, Optimus quickly downing him as a result. Optimus then offered the turncoat a fresh start only to be rebuked. To discover Megatron's goal, Optimus sent scouting parties into Decepticon territory, all finding nothing to report. When communicating with Jetfire however, the flier was struck by an unusual beam of energy, Optimus ordering Ratchet to find him. After the medic, along with Rack'n'Ruin, had recovered Jetfire, Optimus congratulated the Autobots on a successful mission. Rack N' Ruin N' Ratchet

During a mission briefing, Optimus' consciousness was pulled into the Matrix where he reunited with Maccadam. Revealing himself to be Alchemist Prime, the barkeep told Optimus that the last of Windblade's psychic shards was in the alternate Matrix of Leadership, an artifact that Optimus was to destroy. Dweller In The Depths

Leaving Hot Rod and Arcee in command, Optimus led a strike team into Decepticon territory, managing to push into the control room of Croaton just as a hemisphere encompassing shield went up, cutting the strike team off from the other Autobots. Confronting Megatron, the tyrant called in his favour for helping save Cybertron before towering hostiles teleported in. Silent Strike

Recognizing the hostiles as the Perfect Decepticons that Megatron had sought to create, Optimus assumed them to be his foe's troops only for Megatron to reveal them as products of "the Other One." The invaders proved too powerful for standard weapons, forcing Optimus and Megatron to channel their multiverse energy to defeat them. When Optimus reiterated the destruction of the alternate Matrix, the Other One, an alternate version of Megatron, arrived and reclaimed his Matrix. As Optimus cradled the deactivated Megatron, Bumblebee stole the alternate Matrix and flew off. Following, Optimus caught up with him just as the Other One had bonded with the artifact, engaging him in a duel of Matrices. Though he initially held the advantage, Optimus was steadily overcome by the invader before the psychic shard of Windblade sabotaged the alternate Matrix, allowing Prime's beam to paralyze the Decepticon. Before they could decide what to do with him, Astrotrain claimed his master and took him away into the multiverse as punishment for his abuse. Optimus was later present when Windblade made a full recovery, celebrating her return. The Other One

Alternate universes

A series of multiversal Optimus Primes were among those who found themselves trapped in unspace after attempting to use the improperly repaired space bridge. Though a few lost their lives to the matter between universes, most were able to escape using the combined power of their AllSparks. The Crossroads

In a different universe, when Optimus confronted Megatron following his attack on the High Council, Megatron realized that he and Optimus would oppose each other forevermore and slew his once friend with a point blank fusion cannon blast before he seized the Matrix from him. As short lived as his tenure as a Prime had been, Optimus' spirit persisted within the accumulated wisdom of the Matrix of Leadership. When the Matrix was stolen by another version of Megatron and brought to his universe, a psychic shard of the native Windblade wound up lodged in it. Greeting the cityspeaker, Optimus' spirit guided her to destroy the Matrix so she could save her universe. Presumably, Optimus' spirit was dissipated when Windblade followed his orders and destroyed the talisman from within. The Other One

Tiny Turbo Changers

Listen, this is great and all, but what happened to my arms?

Released in the first Series of Cyberverse Tiny Turbo Changers, Optimus changes from semi-truck cab to robot and back in a few simple steps. He has a molded "attack" weapon, in his case a large panel from his truck mode becomes his left-arm-mounted energon axe in robot mode.

Optimus was also released without changes in Series 2.

Scout Class

That looks like it's gotta hurt.

  • Action Attack: "Ion Blast"

Cyberverse Scout Class Optimus Prime is a roughly Legends Class sized figure of Optimus Prime that transforms into a half-robot-half-truck thing, also known as a "transformational mode". When he is transformed, an ion blaster flips onto his arm, representing his "Ion Blast" Action Attack... which looks as if he has his own fusion cannon due to it being a humongous, arm-mounted cannon. Optimus also features one 5mm-compatible hand on his right arm. Perhaps he wants to have an optional weapon before pulling out the big gun?

Despite similarities in parts and proportions to the figure above, this Cyberverse Scout Class Optimus Prime is a new mold. His "Energon Axe Attack" is activated by pressing the rear wheels/legs in place, which unlocks the spring-loaded waist, swinging the torso to the left side. The right arm must face forwards before activation.

1-Step Changers

At least he doesn't look like Megatron this time.

Released as part of the second wave of 1-Step Changers, this Cyberverse Optimus Prime is an all-new mold, with the transformation engineering taking cues from the Age of Extinction Galvatron toy. This figure is an unchanged re-release of the Cyberverse Optimus Prime figure above, but with a trailer. The trailer can interact with Scout Class up to Warrior Class figures. It also features a "Cannon Charge" Action Attack, where small cannons flip out of the front of the Trailer. The Trailer, when folded open, has a turret that a Scout class figure can sit awkwardly on. A single Warrior Class (or smaller) car can be stored in the trailer in vehicle mode.

Due to the Optimus figure itself being unchanged, the trailer attaches by his feet slotting into the front end of the trailer. As a result, only variations of this mold can pull it and it does not turn easily.

His axe attack is activated by pulling up and then pushing down the blue bar behind his head, rather than being button activated.

Cyberverse Ultimate Class Optimus Prime is a toy that transforms from a roughly Leader-sized robot to truck in around eleven steps. Articulation is somewhat limited for such a large toy, but sells at a cheaper price point as a trade-off. The arms have ratcheted elbows, a swiveling bicep, and shoulders that swivel forward and hinge outward. The legs have ratcheted hips and thigh swivels, plus a knee joint which is located further down the leg from the molded detail to facilitate transformation.

His truck mode is largely based on his G1 design but with cues from the War for Cybertron vehicle mode. As such, it looks like a big red fist on wheels. The shoulder panels that sport his two Autobot insignia tampographs fold forward to become his truck mode doors, hiding his faction symbols and therefore allowing this Optimus to be a better robot in disguise than most other Optimus Prime toys in existence.

His "Matrix Mega Shot" Action Attack gimmick utilizes the Matrix of Leadership within the figure's chest. This feature can be accessed in robot mode by pressing down just on his left clavicle, or in vehicle mode by pressing down on the top of the cab. In fact, you will likely deploy it on accident a lot due to how sensitive the button is, especially during transformation. Once deployed, it can be made to spin by rolling the truck mode forward (powered by the right front wheel) or by spinning the small red wheel on his robot mode side. This causes the clear blue "energy" details to open, revealing the Matrix underneath. This gimmick is gravity dependent, meaning it must be in the correct position to activate properly.

Unlike the other simple-assembly wheels, the front right wheel activates the gimmick in vehicle mode due to the connection between the gimmick's hexagonal joints. Because of this, only 5 out of 6 wheels can smoothly roll unless you pull him backwards or push it down while rolling him forwards, which also activates the spinning matrix inside the truck's cavity. A running change was also added: The locking tabs are now modified to allow the Matrix to rotate back securely in one touch. Due to the weight of his torso, the hip ratchets can barely support an even wider A-stance due to the combined weight of the upper torso.

Along with Megatron, Optimus Prime also saw a re-release in the third wave.

This Ultimate Class Optimus Prime is an all-new mold, utilizing a different transformation scheme. He also features both the Energon Axe action attack and a flip-out Armor triggered from his rear legs. This Optimus also features a unique transformation: Pulling out the Energon Axe when converted halfway unleashes the "twist-and-change" action consists of spinning his torso and arms in place. As a result, his upper limbs are very loose. This Optimus only features articulation on the forearms, while his pair of legs is a brick as it was used to store the armor gimmick.

Elite Class

Cyberverse Elite Class Optimus Prime is a smaller, Warrior Class-sized, less Action Attack-laden, new mold that transforms from robot to a smokestack-less truck. He also comes with a fighter jet accessory with built-in Gatling guns, which can form his battle armor in robot mode. Like all Elite Class toys, the accessory also comes with a unique built-in helmet. The wings automatically transform in place if the cockpit is folded down when combined with Optimus.

The Sky Turbine is based on a swing-wing jet of made-up model, with some design details being reminiscent of Jetfire. It features large undercarriage Gatling guns and, satisfyingly, folding nose-cone landing gear. When folded down as armor, the guns unlatch and swing beside Prime's arms using a spring-loaded mechanism, and wings rotate 180 degrees with the jet exhausts becoming shoulder-mounted cannons. For extra stability, the heel supports on Optimus are extra long to support the weight of the armor. Unlike most Elite-class Spark Armor, there are no larger hands sculpted in. This Optimus Prime can also tow the Battle Base Trailer.

While the promotional renders for the toy show a solid silver truck-mode grill, the actual toy has a red hinge arm in the middle. This is likely due to a planned paint operation being omitted from the final product.

The blade is stored in between the foot armor/engines of the Ark, which can itself be carried on the back of Prime's truck mode. Curiously, the box art depicts him with gauntlets for both arms, which may be connected with the gap in the front of the Ark.

If you leave his feet untransformed, he can tow the battle base trailer. A hole in the back of his vehicle mode can use the effect part as a booster flame. Due to the transformation scheme, Optimus's robot mode features fake wheels on his back.

In Japan, Optimus Prime is released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive. The catalog reveals that he is intended to be sold for the regular markets (hence the "TCV-28" ID Number) with a February 2020 release date.
