The name or term "Optimus Prime" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Optimus Prime (disambiguation).
Optimus Prime is an Autobot from the EarthSpark continuity family.
The dad of the task force.

Long ago, Optimus Prime took up arms to save Cybertron from Megatron and his Decepticons, a conflict that eventually brought him and his followers to Earth. Although he and the Autobots finally blunted the Decepticon advance and shattered their ranks for good, victory left them stranded on a world that had turned against them.

In his new role as a G.H.O.S.T. operative, Optimus now serves as a liason between humanity and his own kind as he mops up Decepticon stragglers with the assistance of Elita-1 and the repentant Megatron. The bumpy post-war transition weighs heavily upon him, as do the occasionally-amoral actions of his human colleagues, but Optimus perseveres; only by bringing the people of Earth and Cybertron together can they forge a unified future, and the rise of a new generation of Earth-born "Terrans" might be the first step on the road to permanent peace.

To this end, Optimus tries hard, really really hard, to be #Relatable to the humans, earnestly attempting to put on a non-threatening, light-hearted tone when dealing with them... despite the fact that it smashes headlong into the wall of his natural stoicism and gravitas. He needs handwritten cue cards to remind him to smile. He's given to Dad Jokes that would even give Alex Malto pause. His text messages are overloaded with emojis. But as laughably cringe as his attempts are, it's all utterly sincere. His desire for peace and harmony with the people of Earth burns deep in the core of his spark. He's honestly trying his hardest, no matter how difficult it is. He wouldn't be Optimus if he didn't.

After decades of fighting, humans have reason to fear my kind. We found that visual aids and cheerful slogans make us less... scary.

"Hey honey, it's been a while since we drove together like this. Weren't you on my left side last time?"

The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, fought against the Decepticons on Cybertron. In 1984, the war resulted in both factions traveling to Earth by space bridge where the Autobots gained human allies in their struggle. The war ended when Optimus destroyed the space bridge, stranding the factions on Earth and forcing them to work together. The humans immortalized the conflict in a comic book series.

Years later, Optimus worked alongside Megatron as a part of the covert human organization G.H.O.S.T. to round up the Decepticons who were still making trouble. He and Elita-1 ambushed Swindle and Hardtop, and despite being unexpectedly attacked by Arachnamechs, managed to capture Hardtop. While later investigating the crash of the truck transporting Hardtop, Optimus and Elita encountered old ally Dot Malto, and were joined by Megatron. Secret Legacy, Part 1 Optimus released some of Wheeljack's drones in an attempt to learn more about the mysterious Arachnamechs. When that turned up nothing, Optimus's group continued the search and found the Arachnamechs in the process of attacking Dot's children and two new Transformers who had been created on Earth. Optimus's belief that Twitch and Thrash would be safest in G.H.O.S.T. custody resulted in the pair being captured by human villain Mandroid who provided a fake G.H.O.S.T. transport. Following the rescues of the two "Terrans", Optimus was instead in favor of Dot taking care of them, and assigned Bumblebee as their teacher. Secret Legacy, Part 2

Fonzimus Prime

Bumblebee attempted to contact Optimus to get advice on teaching, only to get Megatron and Elita-1 as Optimus was indisposed. Optimus later returned his calls, but Bee was busy with Family Game Night by that point. Moo-ving In While searching for a dangerous Decepticon who'd been spotted near Witwicky, Optimus found the Terrans and Dot's kids caught in a Decepticon pit trap. He hid them in his trailer in the G.H.O.S.T. base while he took Dot on her orientation. He and Dot later had to extract the kids from Megatron's combat simulation after they went wandering, and smuggled them out of the base, though Optimus was uncomfortable at having to show Dot the accommodations provided for the captured Decepticon. Optimus and Megatron were lured to an abandoned factory after Ravage, Laserbeak and Frenzy stole Agent Schloder's ID badge, and with his comms down, Optimus was forced to phone Mo Malto to ask Bumblebee to send backup. Bumblebee instead turned up himself, and the trio managed to subdue the three cassettes. They headed back to base and en route were ambushed by Soundwave. With the help of Arcee and the Maltos, Optimus and his team were able to triumph, however Megatron talked Optimus into at least letting the three cassettes go before they took Soundwave to G.H.O.S.T. Decoy

When G.H.O.S.T. held a ceremony celebrating the human/Autobot alliance, Optimus and Megatron found themselves defending the humans against Skywarp and Nova Storm, who had come intending to procure Optimus's left arm for Mandroid. Though the Decepticons were successfully defeated, they avoided being captured. Regrouping with the Maltos and Terrans at a burger bar, Optimus learned that the Terrans had been brought online by a glowing rock and resolved to investigate further. This led them to recover the Emberstone, just in time for Skywarp and Nova Storm to again attack, this time revealing that Megatron and Dot had been captured by Mandroid as barter for Optimus's arm. Age of Evolution, Part 1 Optimus and Bumblebee managed to capture the pair and discovered that the Emberstone had created three more Terrans. Aiming to rescue Dot and Megatron, Optimus came up with a plan for him, Thrash and Twitch to pose as prisoners being brought in by the newborn Terrans. Mandroid quickly saw through the ruse, however it gave the group the opportunity to free Dot and Megatron, and after Mandroid revealed his base was actually a giant mech, the group fought together to destroy it, with Optimus expressing pride and hope in the bonds between the Maltos, both human and Terran. Age of Evolution, Part 2

Sometime after Bumblebee got exposed by G.H.O.S.T., Optimus sent the scout on another undercover mission infiltrating a "Bot Brawl" ring to find the missing Grimlock. Home, Part 1
