Finally, TakaraTomy's failing robot franchise is allowed to ride the coattails of Diaclone and Zoids.

In 2024, TakaraTomy launched T-SPARK, a dedicated label to categorise all of their adult hobbyist products. In addition to the toys and merchandise released under the name, T-SPARK also came to be an umbrella term labelling much of TakaraTomy's collector-oriented output, including Transformers, Diaclone, and Zoids, and it came to be reflected in their online store branding and social media presence.

Brands

[edit]

T-SPARK launched with the announcement of five series, each designated from "Spark the First" through "Spark the Fifth", though a sixth was unveiled in conjunction with the Tokyo Toy Show in August 2024, and four more in advance of the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2025.

Adamas Machina

[edit]
Adamas Machina Rodimus

Kōtetsu Kinshin Adamas Machina (鋼鉄機神 アダマスマキナ, "Steel Machine God Adamas Machina") is a line of high-end articulated figures of TakaraTomy's mecha and robots making use of die-cast construction to simulate the materials the characters would be made out of. Rodimus at least augments the look with a metallic paint job and uses transformation as a gimmick, while the inaugural Zoids release, Berserk Führer, comes with light-up LEDs and optional armour parts. The first T-SPARK announcement video noted that Adamas Machina toys were brought to life by up-and-coming designers to breathe new life into the industry.

Realize Model

[edit]

Realize Model (リアライズモデル) is a series of 1/100th scale plastic model kits of highly-articulated, gimmick-rich action figures. Its focus is so far on Zoids, beginning with Blade Liger, Geno Saurer, and Command Wolf, followed up by Hell Cat and Molga. Each kit incorporates elements from the various Zoids anime series, and the unified scale is used as a "collect 'em all" selling point.

Toyrise

[edit]

Toyrise (トイライズ, stylised as T🌀YR!SE) intends to "Bring WOW to your hobby toys!" by using years of design experience to create modern updates of toys from older lines – kind of like Generations but without the Transformers (so far?). Toyrise launched with a modernised incarnation of King Exkaiser from :}}Brave Exkaiser|; prototypes on display at Shizuoka Hobby Show in May 2024 included forays into other Brave incarnations with Genesic GaoGaiGar and GaoFighGar from :}}The King of Braves GaoGaiGar| and spiritual successor Bravern from :}}Brave Bang Bravern!|. The other grey models consisted of the super deformed White Blows, Yellow Crusher, and Blue Braver from :}}Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden| that can combine into a super robot; a six-inch scale action figure of the titular toku hero from :}}Magic Bullet Chronicles Ryukendo|; and 1/48th scale figures of the Scopedog from :}}Armored Trooper Votoms| with customisable weapons loadouts.

Altered Nano

[edit]

Initially announced with the codename "Project: M", Spark the Fourth was eventually revealed to be called Altered Nano (オルタードナノ). This line of 1/18th scale poseable action figures was initially promoted as being wholly designed by :}}Metal Gear Solid| and :}}Death Stranding| art director :}}Yoji Shinkawa|, though when product listings dropped, vehicle and mecha designs were credited to Shinji Aramaki. TakaraTomy seemed cagey to admit the line's influences, but concept artwork and prototypes showed familiar concepts like Micro Knight, Spy Magician, and the iconic Easter Island head, idiosyncrasies that suggest Altered Nano to be a successor to the Microman franchise.

Metamor Verse

[edit]

Metamor Verse (メタモルバース) once again saw TakaraTomy collaborate with Kotobukiya to corner the cute girl figurine market, as they had previously done with the 1/7th scale statues of Bishoujo Series. The fiction of Metamor Verse concerns a virtual reality MMO of the same name, which collaborates with an in-universe TakaraTomy to include licensed events and cosmetics based on the company's IPs. The Metamor Verse toyline is populated by 1/10th scale poseable action figure kits of the characters' avatars, each paired with what the game calls a "Buddy Armor"—a super deformed travelling companion based on a mech from TakaraTomy history that can change into weaponry or armour for its owner. The line began with gijinka-style interpretations of Zoids' Blade Liger and Geno Saurer, with the promise of Transformers characters on the way.

You must be 15 years or older to view the Metamor Verse website.

Synergenex

[edit]

After the five above, T-SPARK presented a sixth series by the name of Synergenex (シナジネクス), a portmanteau of SYNERGY, GENE, and NEXT. Like Hasbro's Transformers Collaborative before it, Synergenex seeks to cross over TakaraTomy brands not only with each other but also with external media properties, often in service of celebrating a milestone anniversary. The first toy announced, Shield-D-Prime, was branded simply as part of Synergenex, and celebrated over forty years of TakaraTomy's super robot franchises. Collaborations with external properties were branded as Transformers or Zoids toys, with participants including Godzilla, Spider-Man, Monster Hunter, and :}}Patlabor|.

Q Village

[edit]

The first of the next batch of four brands revealed in advance of Shizuoka Hobby Show 2025, Q Village (キュービレッジ) brings Choro-Q to the adult collector market with licensed crossover vehicles in super deformed style. Gone are the pull-back motors of yesteryear; instead Q Village aims to combine "the fun of displaying" and "the fun of riding" by packing the vehicles in with chibi minifigures that can sit inside. Initial releases consist of Back to the Future's DeLorean time machine with Doc Brown and Marty McFly, and the Nissan Skyline GT-R with :}}Brian O'Conner| as seen in :}}2 Fast 2 Furious|.

Collekazaro

[edit]

Collekazaro (コレカザロ), a portmanteau of "Collection" and "Kazaro" (meaning "to display"), is a range of 3.75 inch scale action figures with five points of articulation. Marketing places emphasis on their collectability and portability, boasting that the brand can be "collected and displayed in your room, or carried around with you to enrich your daily life." The line began with a range of figures based on characters from the world of :}}My Hero Academia|.

SPARK Fig

[edit]

SPARK Fig (スパークフィグ) is another foray into the bishoujo market, rather ambiguously announced as figures in a variety of sizes, "both scaled and non-scale", based on "anime characters etc.". The line commenced with an 18cm representation of Princess Ripple from :}}Princession Orchestra|, followed by a bikini figurine of Kotona Elegance from the :}}Zoids: Genesis| anime.

Legacysoul

[edit]

In a departure from the other brands, Legacysoul (レガシーソウル) advertises itself as a direct market, possibly crowdfunded initiative to reinvent legendary toys from throughout TakaraTomy's history. First announced were a set of the four lads from 1977's Microman Command with modern engineering and a doubled range of articulation, seemingly in the vein of Missing Link, alongside a modernised remake of Fighting Phoenix from 1995's Super B-Daman. Toys in Legacysoul are available only via limited time pre-orders, exclusive to TakaraTomy Mall in Japan.

ANO-BAMEN

[edit]

Announced at the 63rd All Japan Model Hobby Show in 2025, ANO-BAMEN (アノバメン) is a line of statuettes designed to give a 3D perspective on iconic scenes from famous media. As with Collekazaro, ANO-BAMEN commenced with My Hero Academia, adapting a promotional visual from the anime featuring Himiko Toga looming over Ochaco Uraraka.

In marketing

[edit]
From left to right: Torako, Zoiko and Hobbyko

As a taxon for collector product, the T-SPARK name also saw use on the TakaraTomy Mall online store to categorise toys from outside the above six initiatives. In addition to toys from the 2016 Diaclone reboot and Zoids: Advanced Zi, the T-SPARK category also included a number of contemporary Transformers releases, including lines like Legacy: United, Generations Selects, MPG, Dramatic Capture Series, Missing Link, 40th Selection, and items such as Bingo Sports Optimus Prime, VNR Optimus Prime, and Robosen Megatron. When exhibited at hobby shows, toys from these lines are often showcased with T-SPARK iconography.

TakaraTomy's hobbyist social media channels also adopted the T-SPARK branding, most notably the former TAKARATOMYHOBBY YouTube channel. The rebrand coincided with the introduction of TakaraTomy's official rantsonas pngtubers promotional ambassadors in the form of :}}Moe anthropomorphism| brand mascots brought to life with voice acting and limited animation. These include Hobbyko (representing TakaraTomy itself), Zoiko (Zoids), and Torako (Transformers); though the former two predate T-SPARK's announcement by a month, their inclusion in videos increased afterwards.
