Americanised spelling

Hi there, PacifistPrime the originator of the Scale article here. Thanks for cleaning up some of the typos. However, is it really neccessary to "correct" all my spelling by changing it to Americanised spelling? Is there actually a rule here that one has to use American spelling instead of, well... to be frank: the way the rest of world's users of the English Language spell? No offence intended, just asking. Let me know. PacifistPrime

I would think "yes", since this is an Amerocentric wiki and consistency looks professional. I don't realistically believe we'll ever achieve that because there are too many people from too many regions contributing, and further there are a lot of variations in how people type regardless of what area they're from. I can't stand putting two spaces between sentences, but I wouldn't be offended if someone changed a page I worked on to use them. -LV 16:41, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

What edit are you talking about?

If you're talking about my submission about Blackarachnia's telekinesis, it is NOT baseless speculation; she did use telekinesis in Master Blaster against Rampage, and although they never said where she got it, it is very likely that the psychic link she had with Tarantulas was upgraded during her Transmetalization. Watch the episode; you'll see Blackarachnia's eyes glow green, levitate an I-beam, and fling it at Rampage. The episode was right after Crossing the Rubicon (where Blackarachnia became a TM2), and 18 episodes after Tangled Web, when Blackarachnia forced Tarantulas to terminate their mind link after four episodes (and in case you want to contest it, Other Visits made a mention of the mind link, and how it worked both ways, meaning that BA had some remnants of the link, at the very least some of Tarantulas' memories, if not some other side effects).66.233.183.59 15:40, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm not Sipher, but I agree that it's speculation that doesn't belong here. Her glowing eyes echo the glowing tendrils involved in Cheetor's TM2-ification. It's a Transmetal 2 thing, and I see nothing whatsoever to connect it with the former mental link she shared with Tarantulas. --KilMichaelMcC 16:21, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Beast Wars Video Game

Hey Siph- I finally picked up a copy of the BW Game off e-bay (the original snap I made was from the demo.)

I'm nto very far into it (finding time this summer is tough) but thus far there's been no mention of the Skriix. Were they named in the game booklet or something? ('cuz i lack the booklet.) -Derik 21:13, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm trying to remember WHERE they were named. It might have been promotional materials. It's not in the booklet, I know that... --M Sipher 21:52, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
I theeeeeenk it might've been in one of the pre-mission "briefings" that came up before you started each level. Level... three, I want to say? - Chris McFeely 21:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Okay, then I just haven't played it enough to get that info. Thanks!
Was there anything of value at all in the booklet that I'm missing out on? -Derik 22:13, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

ok, but what about those pages that are wanted?

you can't say a whole lot about say the third episode of Five Faces of Darkness can you?

other than that, what do you think of my wording?

and btw, theres a weird random page about weather in london but wasn't deleted, joke I'm not aware of maybe? --DracoJesi 18:42, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Image upload issues

Are you having any problems with image uploads? For some reason the wiki isn't uploading my images onto the server. --FFN 09:28, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Twirl toy image

Can you upload a photo of her robot and vehicle modes? Preferably against a 'neutral' background to fit with the rest of the toy pics. She is too awesome to go without toy photos, methinks. --FFN 10:24, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Megatron's Brazilian Voice Actor

Howdy ho! Hey, you said that the information about Megatron's voice actor in the film was on the wrong place when i put it on his page. Where would be the right place? I was thinking that maybe if i mentioned that José Santacruz plays a REALLY monstrous Megs, much similar to the one Hugo Weaving did, maybe it could go where i originally intended? Thanks for the time.--akumateukuma 11:58, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Rartorata

I don't really appreciate the "fuck you" in your edit summary, Siph. After the last round of discussion in October I thought -- due to lack of voiced disagreement -- that the names were going to be toned down to just ones that sound at least slightly like his real name, which personally I consider quite important. I reverted an anonymous change to the article which went against that "rule", and now you're cursing me out. That is quite uncool. --Steve-o 05:21, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Create-A-Bot's Alt-modes

I'm currently reworking the format and putting it in a more relevant form. It's not that it isn't important, but that the method in which it was added was inappropriate. I believe the original version went something like this.

"Just like his heroic counterpart, Create-A-Bot can adapt into numerous forms that can change his status, but several of his forms cannot be accessed in the game, but can be obtained by WiFi points by visiting the official Activition website. The altmodes are..."

and then listed them in a long and hard to read cluster. This not only is confusing, but also give the impression that ALL of the alt-modes have to be unlocked. So, instead of having a list, I am going to add an easier to read section in each article.

- Update: The sections have been finished and added. Sorry about before, I guess I just forgot to leave a message on the Discussion page about it. -- King Starscream 04:04, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Prowl Redirect

The wiki's lack of warning strikes again. I have made certain to preview every edit I do, looking for a warning that I'm editing an outdated version of the page. While I was making that edit, you redirected the page. When I previewed my edit, it gave no warning that anything had changed, so I submitted it—which undid the move. At least the new redirect included my clean-up...--Apcog 05:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Robot Heroes

There are clear packaging pics of all that are on TFW2005 (I think, I went from Seibertron.com). Not sure where from, but it isn't like they've been secretly leaked to me.

Ragingtsunami726 02:30, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

So... stolen. --M Sipher 02:31, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Anyone and their mother can see them. I see nowhere that they've been stolen and find it hard to believe Hasbro wouldn't have seen the pics after a day or two, considering Stealth Bumblebee. We've seen Cheetor, Rattrap, and Megatron before anyway. I'm leaving them there. Ragingtsunami726 02:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

We've seen them because they were stooooooooooooooolen. They have noooot been officially announced by Hasbro or any official sales solicitations anywhere. Therefore, they are not to be put on this wiki until they are. --M Sipher 02:42, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

We saw the prototypes (Not Blackarachnia) months ago. They've been on this Wiki with the exception of Blackarachnia for months. If I absolutly cannot add her and the confirmed lineups, I will change it back to the way it was before. The protos have been and still are available for the rest and have been for months. I think, THINK they were from Botcon, but I'm unsure. Comic-Con? Ragingtsunami726 02:46, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, several were shown at Botcon 2007; maybe at Comic-Con too, I dunno. But for the ones that weren't, our own policy (specifically Help:Coming_soon ) means we need to leave them alone until there's something official. Without a hard and fast policy, there's no fair way to declare what should and shouldn't be here when gray areas arise. Besides which, we're not trying to be a news site. Chip 02:54, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Is that a good compromise? There is no info there that seems unacceptable to me. I apologize for getting off on the wrong foot. The article on Smash Bros. Brawl on Wikipedia has made me defensive. Ragingtsunami726 03:01, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Weird bootleg minicons

Are you still looking for the various KO minicons? A store by me has the purple/yellow Star Saber team, the constructicon-esque Military team, and the weird combining remolds, if you're still interested. Also, they have inexplicably huge amounts of WCW Nitro cologne. -hx 20:03, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Anchors

Have you noticed that each anchor line inserts a new blank line into the page formatting? --Sntint 08:02, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

I see four choices: 1) accept the extra blank formatting line, 2) put the anchors at the end of the last line of the preceding section, 3) dirty up the code by replacing the blank formatting lines with the anchor template lines, or 4) put the anchor code at the end of the "title" section it anchors to, which may result in the page link manifesting with its section title scrolled off the screen. For OP G1, for the purposes of getting my Stormbringer trivia edit in, I'm going with 2, for now. I'll fix it when we've got a decision. --Sntint 03:15, 14 February 2008 (EST)

New Mini-Con

Just a heads-up: If you haven't heard yet, there's another Mini-Con/Micron store exclusive due from Japan. Starting March 13, the first 10 customers to buy J-release TF Classics toys at any Toys "R" Us get a free Skyglide, a red recolor of Steelwind from the Clear Skies Team, probably meant to homage Powerglide. (This is from Figure King #121, according to Autobase Aichi. I don't think there are any images in the article.) I'm not sure where this info should be put into the wiki. There doesn't seem to be enough info to set up an article of its own yet. A "coming soon" notice on the main Mini-Con page until we know more, maybe?--Apcog 20:06, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Mech Version

I tried a Google search and didn't find anything right off. I DID find Yahoo Japan auction listings which listed it in kana as メッキ, which is definitely "chromed" and not "mech". Point me to the site, please?--Apcog 21:14, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

That's the kana on TakaraTomy's page for the set http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/TF/other/index.html ... but isn't that kana "Meh-(shorten next)-ki"? "Mech"? Wouldn't "chromed" be an entirely different set of kana? The ones used for "Chromebite"? --M Sipher 21:21, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
No. Check it out by copy-pasting the katakana into the translation box at Jim Breen's. While クローム isn't unknown in Japan (Heck, it's what they call Stylor), the general term for chrome-plated parts is メッキ. (Technically, it's 鍍金 or 滅金, but perhaps because those can also be pronounced "tokin" and mean "pretense", it's usually rendered in katakana.) I first figured that by seeing it used in instructions for snap-together model kits which included such pieces. "Mech" is usually rendered メカ, as in short for "mechanism".--Apcog 00:18, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Heroes of Cybertron Cat?

Hey, are you going to populate a Heroes of Cybertron category? Dirge currently is all alone there, and I was about to delete the cat from his page to help clean up the Wanted Cats page. JW 17:44, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Why the fuck would you delete it? --M Sipher 17:52, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
First of all, I'm here to discuss the matter before I do anything rash, so I don't think I deserve the swearing. Chill.
Second of all, I considered deleting the link to the cat because the cat doesn't exist, and there's no demonstrable desire for it to exist, as shown by the fact that there's only one article in it.
But, third, if you were intending to fill out the category, so that it reaches the minimum number of entries we require to justify a category, I fully support you in that. I'm just asking if that's your plan, or if you expect other people to take care of it. JW 18:24, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Soundwave edits by 143.239.7.2

Okay, the whole Gurren Lagan/gattai history business is drawing parallels that are either speculative or outside the intended scope of the wiki. (A note might be made somewhere of Soundwave's combining method, though. Is it unique within TF lore?) However, why excise the directly TF-related material—i.e., noting the homages to the original Soundwave?--Apcog 23:18, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Scourge Edit

That's the second time that my trivia post for RiD Scourge was deleted. It's a valid point, and I dunno why you guys are refusing to allow it, especially since there seems to be no qualms on here with making tranny jokes about Override or Airazor. Kind of hypocritical, ne? 64.13.101.210 23:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

No, not at all. Because Airazor and Override did legitimately, officially change genders in translation. Scourge... drumroll... has always been male, and has never ever ever been officially hinted as having the remotest female whatever ever. --M Sipher 02:13, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Ironhide

I read your thing about Botcon, very interesting. But the chances that Ironhide's southern accent doesn't originate from Cullen's are very low indeed. If you listen to the two voices, Ironhide's voice in Animated has a slightly different style. The most likely explanation is that the idea of the accent was taken from Cullen's 'Hide, while the sound of the accent was modelled on the other guys. And both should be noted in page. Something like "The idea of a southern accent is most likely based on G1 Ironhide, however the particular variant/vernacular(whatever) is based on such and such". User:GWolfv2 19.20 May 31st

No. I'm goddamn sick of over-reaching desperate "THIS MUST BE GEEWUN REFERENCE". Especially when we're talking about an analogue to a G1 character... at BEST, it's "no shit, Sherlock" (you mean a guy based on G1 Ironhide has slightly-G1-Ironhide-like traits?! NOOO!), at worst, it's a desperate grab for a non-reference. --M Sipher 18:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to thank you for going in and adding the megadata (like pub data) to the Linkage articles... Because we will be, like I said when I reverted them? The individual DVDs totally should have their own articles. I think it's stupid to NOT have articles on the individual home releases of whatever. IDW Dates

To answer your question... while the solicitations of course give an idea of what will come out at some point during a month, usually we only get one month's worth of specific dates around the end of the previous month/beginning of that month via Tipton's blog and IDW's newsletter.

...so I guess the short answer is "no, we don't have specific dates for December or January stuff yet". Although we should get November's dates soon. I guess we could put in question-marked placeholders based on the solicitations... --Jeysie 16:27, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

Beast Wars Returns airdates

The site Jon T referred me to had all the listings and from what I could tell going by the months I know the show premiered in Japan, plus the consistency between the airdates, it all looks legit to me. In the Aligned universe the spelling for the word is "Minicon" rather than "Mini-Con" why would you undo all that since we have EVIDENCE presented in the novels of the spelling? Because we've had misparsed words showing in official TF side-items for many years (BlackArachnia, anyone?), and frankly, I don't trust Alex Irvine to get anything right. The odds of the spelling showing up on Hasbro packaging as "Minicon" are pretty low, and until we see Hasbro PROEPER use it consistently, then we're going with what Hasbro PROPER has used. --M Sipher 06:51, 2 February 2012 (EST)

Darkness Rising, Part 5

Why did the edit about Miko and Soundwave taking pictures of each other get reverted? I'm not raging, just asking so I should know what to post and what not to post under References. 78.128.95.132 18:27, 8 August 2012 (EDT)

Arc caption

Was the joke unclear? Because in either case, I don't particularly favor the femmephobic joke you put there. Geewunling 15:28, 23 September 2012 (EDT)

"Femmephobic"? --M Sipher 15:30, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
There's a thing called Google. But it comes down to lack of appreciation for anything that is associated with women, because it's seen as inferior. This wiki is way past just pointing out stereotypes - it's actively participating in femmephobia with its propensity for remarks about the color pink (among mány other things). In particular, *I* hate pink jokes around TFP Arcee, and therefore also Arc, because Arcee's usual color was not altered for her, but for Jack, so he would not be lowered for associating with feminine attributes.
My joke tried to play into the fact that she is a knife and that Transformer 'blood' (energon, right?) is pink. It wasn't perhaps the best formulated or particularly funny, but at least it wasn't problematic either.
So, I ask you to at least leave the caption blank if my joke wasn't good. Geewunling 15:45, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
What a steaming pile you've plopped down there, and how dare you. You'll pardon me if I find that giving Arcee a Micron partner that's pink, literally has stiletto heels, a heart for a face, and hands sculpted in that splayed-out palms-to-the-floor tee-hee pose just a wee bit out of place. Combine that with her on-show personality, which is more or less a "diva" and a love target for various characters, and it's a parade of sad cliches, shoving her into the trope of "GIRLY GIRL PINK GIRL" being her only character trait. Which I find dreadful, not because "pink + girl = auto-bad forever", but because hey, sometimes, a female character doesn't need to be pink and girly. There are lots of ways to be a girl. Defaulting the only female character in the lot to nothing more than pink-and-pretty is bluntly insulting. Arcee is feminine without being a pile of "gender-normative" cliches. To see Arc backslide so far is disappointing at best.
It has nothing, nothing to do with "lack of appreciation for anything that is associated with women because it's seen as inferior", as you so idiotically put it, and EVERYTHING to do with it seemingly being THE ONLY ROLE OPTION FOR FEMALES AS DECIDED UPON BY PREDOMINANTLY MALE-RUN ENTERPRISES AND AIMED AT A PREDOMINANTLY YOUNG MALE AUDIENCE. THAT, if you ask me, is the REAL "lack of appreciation".
And I'd really, really love a source on your claim as to how pink would "lower" Jack and THAT being the reason for Arcee's coloration.
(And by the way, energon is light blue in Prime. Which would have been a far better choice of colors for Arc. still wouldn't have solved the sculpting issues though.) --M Sipher 16:26, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
How dare I? Oh, excuse me, male person. I, as female person, should not have assumed to know anything about the female identity and its stereotypes and how they should be talked about without creating further harm. I mean, it's not like I could have first-hand experience. And the fact I left this wiki over a year ago partially because of the heterosexual (cis)male entitlement here is also something I must've dreamed up. Apologies. How dare I?
I give you this as my evidence for the Jack = blue claim.
That energon is blue in TFP is a good argument against my joke, though. Still not one in favor of yours. If all those other things bother you about Arc as well, why not comment on any of thém? Geewunling 16:40, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
You sure didn't seem to have any problems assuming that I had a "lack of appreciation for anything that is associated with women because it's seen as inferior". You came out with the presumption of the worst possible reason, using charged language, so yes. Offense is going to be taken. --M Sipher 16:58, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
You sure didn't seem to have any problems assuming that I had a "lack of appreciation for anything that is associated with women because it's seen as inferior". --M Sipher 16:58, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
Geewunling, you need to understand the difference between trends in gender perception across society as a whole and the choices of individuals. Yes, society is ruled by males and these males have decided for everyone what "feminine" means. But this is charting a trend. It's something you can only measure as a pile of thousands or millions of choices. You cannot draw these same insidious conclusions from one person, and you can't accuse one person of committing the crime that an entire society perpetuates. For example, one movie that doesn't pass the Bechdel Test isn't sexist, but most movies not passing the Bechdel Test is indicative of a sexist society. You are making that mistake here. You may know more about being female than a male because you are a female, but you don't know more about Sipher's motivations in creating a caption than he does, for that same reason. Instead, you've decided to mark him and his actions unfavorably by assuming his motivations are synonymous with All Males Everywhere. And because of this, you have accused him of hating girls -- not because he's demonstrated that he hates girls, but because he's said something about the color pink. Pink is a complicated color because it's wrapped up in gender roles, and attitudes towards that color can be numerous and contradictory, and it is simply impossible to concentrate those feelings down into an accurate accusation against a lone human being. A feminist could hate or love pink depending on their experiences with the color, and both reactions could be right. It would be wiser to deal with Sipher as an individual with his own thoughts and motivations -- albeit within a sexist society. He is not that society. Remember that when dealing with other people. --ItsWalky 17:23, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
To M Sipher (and ItsWalky for the defense): I called the joke femmephobic, not you. And even if I would've called you femmephobic, I did not say anything about intent. It has little to do with 'reasons', and all the more with a system of conventions that are tough to make visible.
Do I mind a pink joke or think less of the person who made it? No. Do I feel upset about having seen (and changed) some thirty+ jokes around here about male characters/men being not worth basic consideration for dressing in pink, about female characters/women not having pink in their look (which adds to the stereotype where it is averted), and female characters/women in pink being inherently inferior to ones who aren't? A little. And I can give you the full list if you want me to. It just is not about you, it's about everything.
All I ask for is a different joke, one that doesn't serve to rebuild a collection I've tried to kill off. If only because repetitive jokes are a reading enjoyment-killer.
P.S., ItsWalky, don't assume I don't know feminism. It's condescending and kind of a weird assumption given the conversation so far. Geewunling 17:39, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
At no point did I assume you didn't know feminism. In fact, I wrote my entire spiel with the exact opposite assumption. The term "cisgendered" isn't exactly thrown around by the unequipped. If I wrote at-length or in great detail, it's because this topic is complicated and this is not a private conversation between you and I, plus I thought explaining my thoughts plainly and clearly was better than being curt and snarky. Once again you assume the worst in others without first attempting to understand them. --ItsWalky 18:28, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
(As an aside, I always assumed Arc was pink merely because those are Arcee's secondary colors.) --ItsWalky 18:36, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
Alright, critique withdrawn. I was thrown off by the fairly elaborate explanation of the Bechdel Test and color pink, and the reassertion I'd been targeting M Sipher rather than, you know, the joke.
Whereas my request for another joke is standing, I also withdraw concerns for an immediate change. There's a reason I can name all instances of a pink joke on this wiki, and once it's finished I could as well try to kick off a community discussion with it that better communicates the problem. Which is not, and never was, one person/man's doing. Nor did I say that. Geewunling 02:27, 24 September 2012 (EDT)

White Ironfist vs. Tan Ironfist

I admit I based my note off the screencaps on his page, which seemed to indicate that Fisitron's two biggest portrayals (otherwise known as his only portrayals) replaced the tan of his toy with white. Given that, why remove my note when it seemed to be accurate? Or am I just colour-blind? Bobpiecheese 20:06, 29 August 2013 (EDT)

Because he's tan. I've got LSOTW right in front of me and he is consistently tan. It's a lighter, more desaturated tan, but EVERYONE'S colors are lighter and desaturated. That's IDW's look. --M Sipher 20:13, 29 August 2013 (EDT)
Ah, okay. Guess that's my bad for trying to extrapolate a pattern without having the comics on hand. So much for contributing outside of reverting anonymous morons and the occasional caption...he is still white in WoH, though, right? Can I take consolation in being half-right? Bobpiecheese 20:49, 29 August 2013 (EDT)
He is very white in WoH. But, yeah, tan in LSOTW. --ItsWalky 21:54, 29 August 2013 (EDT)

Divide and Conquer

I believe it to be a deliberate reference, but if this has been discussed and decided against, that's fair enough; It being deleted with reason is fine by me, but deletion of something I deemed valid without reasons given understandably led me to add it again. Also, i'd rather a more diplomatic approach than just 'do not post this again'-like I said, I was unaware that I was in error. --Rhysman 23:47, 4th September 2013

The reason was given TWICE, and you added it again afterward anyway. And no, this wiki is not in the habit of listing every vague coincidence as intentional reference. --M Sipher 18:57, 4 September 2013 (EDT)

I've already said that I understand that decision. I'm a newcomer here, so i'll take this opportunity to apologise for irritating behaviour but also plead ignorance in that I didn't know better. Despite accepting that I may have accidentally caused irritation, I have to admit that your reaction has been a bit arsey and very newcomer-unfriendly.--Rhysman 01:21, 4th September 2013

Soundwave

I find your decision to remove my comment on Soundwave being present during PR due to being 'unnecessary' odd, to be honest. How many entries under notes sections are 'necessary'? I found this to be of interest, and interest is subjective. What I said was not incorrect, nor did it present a problem. I think you've made an unfair decision here. Can you really delete other people's contributions based on what you think is interesting?

Soundwave is completely absent from the movie, thoroughly irrelevant to the plot in every respect. It'd be like commenting on the lack of humans, Airachnid, Insecticons or Decepticon miners. We don't remark on the absences of cast members unless said absence poses continuity issues. --M Sipher 22:58, 13 October 2013 (EDT)

Your response was pretty definitive, and I'm not trying to be obnoxious by continuing this, but my point was that he probably was present; it was a 'Soundwave is actually there the whole time' comment, not vice versa. However, another contributor has since pointed out that, as we can't be sure of Soundwave's actions between the movie and the episode, his whereabouts can't be proved and so my comment was speculative, which to my mind is reason enough to not include it, but I found your reasoning less understandable. I appreciate that it was an inconsequential bit of trivia, but then many of the notes on this wiki seem equally, if not less trivial, so i'm wondering what constitutes acceptable notes? Rhysman

Hero Mashers

I think you have to clarify more than "Fuck this noise" when you're merging all the Hero Mashers back despite them having their own universal stream cluster. Canon's not really on your side. --ItsWalky (talk) 13:08, 10 May 2015 (EDT)

I left the (HM) pages intact so "canon" can be appeased. There's canon, and then there's stupidly obfuscating information by not having blatantly-based-on-specific-iterations-of-characters merch on the relevant pages because of some micro-reference in something the overwhelming majority of readership will basically never see. We do readers a disservice with the latter. I don't like just assuming someone's going to dig through a disambig link chain to maybe find stuff like this, and since we repeat full toy sections for repurposings, I don't see why repeating Hero Mashers or the like would be a problem. --M Sipher (talk) 13:15, 10 May 2015 (EDT)

Angry Birds Transformers Characters and Accessories

Thanks for taking the time to fill in information for the Angry Birds Transformers characters. So far we're still missing comphrehensive profiles for Chuck, Hal, and the Minion Pig seekers. Could you also 'spice up' Red's Ultimate, Nemesis, and Epic Optimus Prime's profiles? (I wrote those profiles, but they're just information basic.)

The current Challenge event is for getting both Bumblebees' accessories, so for this and future events, could you make sure to get the gem costs of the accessories before getting them with tokens? Or else would take extra replaying from scratch to figure out the what the original gem costs were.

Also, some of the accessories were token-only exclusives, so you may have to change the cost columns for the accessories tables a bit. --Woo224 (talk) 23:14, 8 September 2016 (EDT)

I had no idea my personal page edits were cluttering up the Recent Changes page; my bad. Is it possible for me to just hide everything under my username page from Recent Changes? Model Numbers? / Formatting - table vs list

Hey, I noticed that you've deleted model numbers off of most of the toyline pages, which is very useful information. I registered to place them back in, but after a couple edits I notice that somebody undid them already. Apologies if I went about this wrong, but how can we get the model #'s reinstated onto the collection pages? =)

Also, when you deleted the model numbers for many pages, you converted the formatting from simple straight-down lists to table formats. As a result, everything looks more cluttered and less organized now. With model numbers in place, even though the page may be slightly longer, at least everything looks much more organized in numerical order. Would it be possible to consider putting everything back into straight-down list views? (but keep the improvements, such as the cool new mini-icons, etc.)

No. --M Sipher (talk) 14:48, 3 March 2017 (EST)

Ok, I suppose that's just cosmetic - but what about model #'s? That's actually functional information, which for some reason was stripped from many of the toyline pages? The only way to view that information now is to go back and look at older page revisions...

Or you can click the link to the toy where all the toy-specific info goes. --M Sipher (talk) 16:47, 3 March 2017 (EST)

Hey, thanks for your reply - I understand that you can click on each individual link, but it's more convenient for all the information to be collected in one place (particularly with Japanese toylines, for foreign collectors). Anyway, I wrote down some thoughts on the "Transformers Unite Warriors" discussion page, and won't push this any further - was just giving some suggestions from an outside user, which I thought might be helpful. I'll stick to simple edits & corrections from now on, and just appreciate the wiki for what it has to offer - thanks... =)

"All the information collected in one place" is called page bloat and over-redundancy, which in the past led to unreadable, ugly, overlong pages that challenged readers to slog through it all. A toyline page is meant to be a broad-strokes overview with links to more detailed pages. --M Sipher (talk) 00:59, 4 March 2017 (EST)

I understand what you're saying about excessive information being "bloat", but model numbers are typically only 2-5 characters long and serve greatly to organize information, and provide a look of uniformity to lists; they are such integral pieces of information for many toys (and in many cases, synonymous with their names), particularly for Takara figures from Japan, and especially for collectors working on their collections. For example, Henkei Optimus is C-01 Convoy, United Megatron (the best version from the Classics Voyager mold) is UN-09 Megatron, Transformers Legends Arcee is LG10 Arcee, RobotMasters Optimus w/ DVD is RM-10 Convoy+DVD, Masterpiece Optimus is either MP-1/MP-4 or MP-10, Masterpiece Rodimus is either MP-9 or MP-28, etc. - these figures are referred to as such all over the web, on ebay, in forums, articles, buy/sale/trade lists, etc. For any collector, this information is invaluable and would never be considered as bloat if collected on a wiki toyline information page.

With all due respect (I know you and others have worked very hard on this site!), but if you look at all the pages pre- and post- overhaul where you reformatted into 4-column tables and stripped out model numbers (Transformers Unite Warriors, Transformers Legends (franchise), Transformers United, Henkei! Henkei! Transformers (toyline), Robotmasters (franchise), etc.) - every single one of these pages looked cleaner and better laid out, and with MORE information (ie - model numbers), before the redesign than after. I think I know what you were trying to achieve (I used to work in web dev in a past life), but the current table implementation only looks good when wave distributions are fairly even (the "Transformers: Generations" page looks pretty decent in most places, except for the Japan section); however, in most other instances where waves are unevenly distributed, and information is presented in left-to-right then down fashion, it ends up being a convoluted mess that is more difficult to follow than necessary (due to uneven whitespacing, and having to scan waves left-to-right but then downwards per wave).

In fact, one easy improvement would be if you were to just simply flip the axis and list the waves top-down then right, then everything would read much better and be easier to follow, and would look better with uneven wave distributions (and then if model numbers were reinstated, they would look good as well because they would appear uniform and increase numerically as you're scanning down the lists)*. Another thing to consider - I know that it probably took a bit of effort to standardize on the current 4-column table view, and that uniformity across pages is desirable, but sometimes the one-size-fits-all approach is not necessarily the best. The Unite Warriors page is a pretty good example of this - the new version looks quite scattered, and is actually MORE bloated (in both page size, and vertical scroll area) even though information has been omitted (model #'s). There's no reason why those 12 entries shouldn't just be a simple downwards list like it was before, with just the new insignia mini-icons added (and model #'s intact!).

Anyway, as I said before, I didn't mean to push this any further - I like tfwiki too much, and don't want to risk offending any of you who control the site. I sought only to help and to give some constructive feedback for consideration, from the viewpoint of an outside user who has found the information collected here invaluable, but happened to notice some of the pages being changed for the worse and becoming more difficult to use. Anyway, thanks again for your time & long live tfwiki... =)

(*if there was a way for me to mock up a sample update of one of the pages, and place it somewhere that's not in production, I could should you what I mean, but I don't know how to do that here...)

Universe 2008 exclusives

[1] Seriously... Please explain to me why listing the exact same items in the same list (thereby implying they were separate items, when they were identical down to the packaging) is preferable over a shorter list with a brief note. Whether the formatting for the note could be improved is one thing, but why would we list multiple toys twice for each individual availability when we don't do that for any other toyline list? We don't list Titans Return Arcee three times under "San Diego Comic-Con", "Hasbro Toy Shop" and "Toys"R"Us" either. Shouldn't the priority be "which toys were released under this line and how were they available", not "which venues got which toys"?--Nevermore (talk) 05:47, 6 January 2018 (EST)

I have literally NEVER seen that used in my life by anyone until someone started changing it on this wiki. Not once. What fucking confusion could there be? Is someone going to think "oh, that toy came out in 2006, on the 1987th of double-December"? --M Sipher (talk)
Well, uh, it is [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}ISO 8601|{{#if:the standard format for international communication|the standard format for international communication|ISO 8601}}]]. And obviously it's not confusing in that particular case, but if someone wrote 09-05-2005, are they talking about the 9th of May or September the 5th?
