The Maximals try to shoot down Nemesis before it reaches Gaia.
Synopsis

Inside the Moon, Artemis and Moon can only watch as the coming Nemesis continues its increased agitation of the evil Angolmois energy across Gaia's surface. They worry this continued disturbance will result in the planet's explosion.
In the Yukikaze, NAVI reports to the Maximals about the chaotic Angolmois energy and the ineffectiveness of their previous cooling efforts in controlling it now. Drill Nuts rushes in to announce the completion of his project, and Lio Convoy orders the Maximals to gather at the Niagara Base, where Diver reveals the powerful Niagara Cannon, which will use Gaia's Angolmois energy to fire a blast powerful enough to destroy Nemesis. With only 72 minutes to spare, they must bring the Niagara Cannon to a mountaintop for optimum Angolmois and targeting. Lio Junior asks for the responsibility, but Lio Convoy denies the request, stating it should go to somebody with more experience, namely Scuba. Lio Junior moans that people don't trust his abilities, but Lio Convoy has a task for him...

Elsewhere, the Autorollers continue their construction of Angolmois facilities that send energy to Nemesis. Dirgegun and Thrustor are elated that their time on Gaia is soon coming to an end, but they spot the Maximals transporting the Niagara Cannon and report it to their superiors in the Galvaburg II. Galvatron realizes just exactly what Lio Convoy is attempting and sends out Hellscream and Max-B to deal with Niagara Cannon while staying back to analyze the situation. Hellscream also realizes things are more than they seem and has Max-B scan elsewhere, where he quickly discovers the Tako Tank transporting the true cannon in an underground river.
Dirgegun and Thrustor, still unaware of the cannon's true location, attack the Maximals transporting the decoy cannon. The decoy cannon bursts open to reveal Lio Convoy and the Maximal Commander easily takes down the Predacon pair. Underground, the struggle between Hellscream, Max-B, and the Tako Tank reveal its cannon to also be a decoy! The true cannon was still at the Niagara Base all along with Lio Junior, Santon, and Skywarp. The three combine into Magnaboss and carry the cannon to the mountaintop. The Predacons attempt to cut him off, but Lio Convoy and Scuba take care of them.

Magnaboss reaches the mountaintop and sets up the Niagara Cannon, but is soon accosted by Gigastorm and Galvatron, who refuse to allow Magnaboss carry out the destruction of Nemesis. To distract the Predacon brothers wailing on him, Magnaboss separates into his component parts, and Lio Junior tries to activate the cannon while his teammates hold back the Predacons. Gigastorm manages to cut the cable supplying Angolmois energy to the cannon, but Lio Junior uses his Angolmois Ball attack to charge up the Niagara Cannon. Lio Junior fires the cannon... but the Angolmois energy proves too much for the cannon and it explodes before the beam can make it to Nemesis. As it turns out, Drill Nuts miscalculated the Niagara Cannon's parameters.

The Magnaboss trio are knocked out by the explosion, but Galvatron and Gigastorm can't press their advantage before Lio Junior and the Tako Tank arrive on the scene. In their retreat, Gigastorm trips and falls into a valley, leading Galvatron to realize his supposed successor pales in comparison to Lio Convoy's... At dusk, Lio Junior beats himself up for failing at his job, but Lio Convoy is soon there to cheer on his protege.
Artemis & Moon II Report
Artemis and Moon discuss the approach of Nemesis so far, from its grazing of the ninth planet to its absorption of the sixth planet's rings and the fifth planet's gas. Artemis is frightened by the fact that it only has four planets to go before it reaches Gaia, but Moon points out Gaia is the third planet in the Solar System. In actuality, it has only one more planet to go...

Notes
Continuity notes
Story errors
- It's rather hard to believe that Artemis hasn't realised until now that Gaia is the third planet in its star system, given she spends literally all her time watching it from space and has frequently been shown looking at the system's layout.
Animation and technical errors
- When combined as Magnaboss in this episode, the voices of Lio Junior, Skywarp, and Santon become more metallic and muffled than normal, as though the three of them were speaking over radio comms. This has never happened in any previous instance of the three speaking individually as Magnaboss, and only ceases in this episode after Magnaboss splits back into the three of them.
- The same thing also happens to Gigastorm's voice for all of his dialogue at the mountain that Magnaboss brings the Niagara Cannon to. Up until that mountain scene, his voice had sounded normal in all of his prior scenes of the episode.
- Of note, footage from this episode's mountain scene was recycled for the Episode 39, "Assemble, Thirty-Nine Warriors", in which this technical error does not occur.
