Roleplay toy
While not the most common Transformers merchandise, Roleplay toys have a history dating back to the beginning of the franchise. They're known for a different play pattern compared to most Transformers toys. Some have unique alt modes that realistically scale as every day items. These allow kids to pretend play with them as though they were the real thing. Others are costume items, that allow them to imagine them being Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, or other characters.
Blasters and guns
A semi-common type of roleplay item are toy replicas of blasters or guns. These break down into two main types; those that shoot projectiles and those with electronics that produce light and sound. Given current safety standards, designs on these clearly appear as toys, sporting things such as bright orange tips on the barrels.

Projectile firing
These items fire a foam dart or other projectile. Many of these are co-branded and use Nerf darts, as it is a Hasbro brand.

Alt modes
Due to safety standards, it's less common to see figures with gun alt modes. This includes both realistic ones as well as Cybertronian ones. Typically these characters will have their alt mode changed, such as with Megatron commonly being a tank with modern releases. Others are...creatively reinterpreted, such as Titans Return Sixshot's gun mode being flipped upside down and being called a submarine.
