Soundwave is a Decepticon from the EarthSpark continuity family.
Megatron's defection has left him blue in the face.

Soundwave was once one of Megatron's most loyal followers, but after the Decepticon leader joined forces with the Autobots, as well as G.H.O.S.T., he now bears a great grudge against his former superior. A bot of few words compared to others of his caliber, he takes on his opponents with deadly precision, backed up by his personal entourage of Cassette-Bots. In addition to his rapid-fire shoulder-mounted blaster and his weaponry in his stealth fighter mode, Soundwave possesses supersonic abilities that he can readily harness in combat.

Soundwave served under Megatron during the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. However, by the time the war expanded to Earth his leader ended up defecting to the Autobots. With the destruction of both the AllSpark and spacebridge that connected Earth to Cybertron, at Optimus and Megatron's hands, the war came to a swift end. Secret Legacy, Part 1 Warzone At one point, while suffering from energon starvation, Soundwave attempted to deploy one of his cassette-bots, only for it to explode instead. Friends and Family After Megatron began working with the humans to round up rogue Decepticons, Soundwave regarded him as a traitor to the Decepticon cause.

Aiming to infiltrate G.H.O.S.T. HQ, Soundwave had Ravage, Frenzy and Laserbeak steal Agent Schloder's ID with the intent of luring Megatron and Optimus Prime to capture them. Soundwave then ambushed Optimus and Bumblebee as they passed through a tunnel. Using an electromagnetic pulse to free the Cassette-Bots, he set his minions on Megatron while he battled Optimus and Bumblebee to the point that they were pinned down behind Optimus's trailer. When Bumblebee took a fall off the side of the mountain, Soundwave took the opportunity to strafe the Autobot in bomber mode, only for Arcee to force him to land. Megatron's pleas for Soundwave to surrender fell on deaf ears, and it was only Optimus, Megatron and Arcee working together that led to Soundwave's defeat and capture. Soundwave was imprisoned in a cell in G.H.O.S.T. HQ, where he was able to release Ravage to scout the facility. Decoy

When the young Terran Hashtag inadvertently used her powers to hack G.H.O.S.T.'s security systems, she also ended up deactivating the shields of the cells holding the Decepticon prisoners, leading to a prisoner uprising which Soundwave participated in. Hashtag: Oops When Mandroid disabled G.H.O.S.T.'s systems while attempting to harness the cyber-sleeves' power, Disarmed he and the other Decepticons attempted to escape G.H.O.S.T. custody, but he and Swindle were blocked by a force field. What Dwells Within He was freed from prison by the remaining Terrans The Last Hope, Part 1 and later assisted in their fight against Mandroid, he and Swindle riding into battle atop Hardtop to battle the Sharkticons. He and the other bots present were deactivated when Mandroid activated a superweapon that drained their energon, only for them to be revived a few minutes later when Robby and Mo reversed the effects. The Last Hope, Part 2

In the immediate aftermath of Mandroid’s defeat, the Decepticons upheld the truce with the Autobots and Maltos. However, it was not long before their greed and ambition resurfaced, and they began to seek the shards of the emberstone for themselves. Some time later, Soundwave overheard the Maltos’ plans to retrieve three more shards of the Emberstone and relayed the intel to Starscream. The cons converged on the shipyard and fought the Autobots and Maltos. Soundwave retreated with the others when the battle was revealed to be a diversion. Aftermath

Soundwave encountered Twitch shortly after she found a shard in the forest. When she refused to hand it over, he deployed Laserbeak and Ravage to chase her down. The cassettes gave up the chase after the shard became a new Terran. Spitfire Soundwave was feeding Ravage energon in a makeshift bowl when Twitch, temporarily transplanted into Spitfire, arrived at the Decepticon base. After he passed on Ravage's intel about an Autobot plan to move the Cyber Slayer, Starscream had him brief Nova Storm and Skywarp on arranging an ambush. He and the two Seekers subsequently jumped Optimus and Elita-1 as the pair left Autobot base but had to return to base empty-handed when it turned out Spitfire had stolen the Cyber Slayer already. The Imposters

Soudwave listened to Starscream's speech about his imminent victory during which the Autobots turned up to demand the Decepticons turn over their Embershards and Soundwave took part in the inevitably resulting fight. Starscream, thanks to some hostage taking, managed to obtain all of the shards, at which point the Decepticons headed out. They assembled on a nearby hill to watch as the Titan Terratronus, now under Starscream's control, rose from the ground and sent them flying with a swipe of her hand. Reasoning that Starscream had betrayed them, Soundwave and the other Cons opted to follow Shockwave instead, only to be trapped under the Chaos Dome that Robby and Mo erected to contain Terratronus. Witwicky, Part 2

Responding to random laser fire, Soundwave and Breakdown caught Bumblebee, Mo and Thrash inside the dome. Soundwave sicced his cassettes on the two Maltos, but he and his squad were taken out when Breakdown, charged with chaos energy, was thrown into them. He and Skullcruncher later backed up Shockwave as their leader confronted the trio when they were about to leave the dome, and he provided a feed of Laserbeak's view when Bee challenged Breakdown to a winner-takes-all race. Ultimately Bee won, leaving the Decepticons trapped in the dome. The Need for Read After Prowl's ship crashed within the Chaos Dome, Soundwave and the other Cons turned out to claim it, only to be driven off by the ship's defenses. Their second attempt was more successful, and following a protracted battle with Optimus and Prowl, the Decepticons boarded the ship before launching into space. No Soldier Left Behind During the trip, Frenzy and Laserbeak took pictures to send back to the Autobots, much to Soundwave's annoyance. Fire and Ice

  • Soundwave (1-Step Flip Changer, 2023)
  • TakaraTomy Name: Supatto Change Soundwave
  • TakaraTomy ID Number: ESS-07
Part of the second wave of EarthSpark "1-Step Flip Changers", Soundwave is a simple toy that converts from robot to stealth bomber and vice versa in a single step. His vehicle mode can be arrived at much faster by letting him fall face-down onto a solid surface. This hits a switch in his chest and allows him to spring back into bomber mode instantly. He is packaged with his wings folded up, and must be unfolded and snapped into place to transform. Once they are snapped into place, it is neither necessary, nor recommended to return them to their original state, as the amount of force required to do so risks breaking the figure.
Unlike previous One Step Changers, Soundwave lacks any robot mode articulation.
The TakaraTomy release features some additional paint details.
