Canada has had a surprisingly large behind-the-scenes role in producing Transformers. It is home of Mainframe Entertainment, who produced the Beast Wars and Beast Machines television series. It was also home to the now-defunct Dreamwave Productions whose top-selling 2002 Generation 1 revival comic led directly to the production of the 2007 movie.[citation needed] Several Transformers voice actors and comic artists also call Canada home.
During the tail end of Generation 1, Canada received several toys the U.S. did not, like the Turbomasters. Generally speaking, US exclusives tend to turn up at Canadian retail, with Walmart and Toys"R"Us keeping their exclusives and, until Target stores began opening in Canada in 2013, Target exclusives would wind up at Zellers, a Canadian chain.
Due to Canada being a bilingual country, it's always had multilingual packaging. The toys also required multilingual character names for a long time. This tends to cause problems, as Toys"R"Us has for a long time not produced multilingual packaging for their exclusives, resulting in them being sold in most of Canada but not in the French-speaking province of Quebec. This has changed with the release of the "Masters of Metallikato" two-pack.

Marvel Comics continuity
The remote town of Doonstown had the misfortune to be the battleground for Grimlock and Sludge. The town was destroyed and the Decepticons raided a nearby oil rig. Dinobot Hunt!

When Ratchet blew up the Ark like a shaken-up bottle of beer, it crashed somewhere in northern Canada. The Ark, not the beer, 'cause that'd be a waste of good beer. But Galvatron survived the crash, and since he's like, a big hoser, he killed a bunch of Canadian army guys. Then Spike Witwicky and Fortress Maximus came and beat him up and tossed him in a lake, and that was pretty much it for Galvatron. The Last Autobot, eh?
Earthforce
When Grimlock and his group broke away from the regular Autobot forces, they landed their shuttle near Churchill, Manitoba, an area, like, famed for its polar bears. Once upon a Time...eh?
Wheeljack began construction of a permanent Earthbase nearby, presumably from parts of the shuttle. Mysterious, eh? The Earthforce were then visited at their shuttle by the Autobot Survivors, requesting assistance to rescue Carnivac. Wolf in the Fold, eh? Augmented by the Survivors and the Aerialbots, the Earthforce completed their base, but there were teething troubles with the security system The Howse that Wheeljack Built! and they were attacked by Soundwave's forces before these could be fixed. Fortunately they were able to drive off the Decepticons. Divide and Conquer, guy!
Not long afterwards, Optimus Prime visited the Earthbase for an inspection, while the Dinobots attempted to hide a psychotic defect in Slag's circuitry. The 4,000,000 Year Itch, eh? The Autobot leader left behind Tracks in the Earthforce's Body Shop to Grimlock's great displeasure. Makin' Tracks, friend! After Optimus returned to the Ark, the three Mayhems Bludgeon, Stranglehold and Octopunch escaped from Earthbase's brig by keeping schtum. Keep it down, buddy!
After assisting the Earthforce in deactivating a cerebro-shell-controlled Superion in New York, the human reporter Irwin Spoon visited the Earthbase to conduct an interview with Grimlock but the interview was interrupted by the Stunticons driving up the only road in Canada to abduct Spoon. Front Line! Though he was rescued, he was implanted with a cerebro-shell himself by Bombshell and ended up writing Decepticon propaganda. End of the Road, eh!
Generation 2
Cobra and Megatron moved the Ark from Canada to Milleville in the United States. The Canadians sent an alert to G.I. Joe aboot the Cobra air armada, but if they said "and there's a Transformer spaceship too" the Joes didn't seem to care. Goin' South
Regeneration One
Template:Noterg1 Spike, as Fortress Maximus, tried to protect the wreckage of the Ark for a while, but life as an Autobot in the middle of the Yukon was boring, eh, so he quit and went back to his own life sometime around 1994. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before Megatron was awakened, and using the Ark's computer and the medical knowledge gained from his mental link with Ratchet, created an army of zombie Decepticons, and somehow gained control of the Earth's nuclear arsenal, that knob! Loose Ends, Part 3 Eventually, Spike, as Circuit Smasher, led a team of humans and Wreckers to blow up that computer, which they did right aboot when Optimus Prime yanked the spark right out of Megs' chest, eh? Even though the Autobots were told by the surviving humans to get off the planet, they still left the wreck of the Ark behind in the Yukon. Natural Selection, Part One Optimus, though, decided to stay behind and take care of it himself, but when he got there, that hoser Galvatron had woken up from under the ice in Carmacks, and with Starscream's help, had gotten that old boat up in the air so they could take off, eh? Natural Selection, Part Five After radioing Cybertron, Optimus took off himself, to head for Wyoming and put his fate in the hands of the humans. Destiny, Part One
Japanese cartoon continuity
The Autobot group led by Ginrai first met up with Ranger in the vast Canadian forests and Lightfoot at his father's motor company. Both learned aboot their ability to "God On" with their Transtectors soon after. An Enemy, eh? The Third Godmaster, Ranger
Lightfoot's father moved from England to Canada to fulfill his dream of starting a car company, this apparently being more achievable in Canada. Dreamwave Generation One continuity
The would-be arms dealer Lazarus set up a secret base in the frozen wastelands of the Canadian northwest territories as part of his plans to sell his reprogrammed Autobots and Decepticons to the highest bidder. He drove a "freedom fighter" named Bishop to the base to unveil the seemingly-controlled Megatron. Prime Directive #1 Lazarus' guests watched from the safety of his base as the mind-controlled Cybertronians laid waste to the Smitco arctic oil refinery, sparking a bidding war. Unfortunately, Megatron revealed he was in control of himself the entire time and attacked, killing most of Lazarus' guests and his men. Prime Directive #2 After Lazarus' control over the other Transformers were broken, Megatron devised a scheme to turn Earth into a new Cybertron by using a mecha-forming cyber-virus, starting with Canada. Prime Directive #3
Once news spread that the Transformers had been sighted, the Canadian military moved in just as Bumblebee and his team were dealing with the cyber-virus. Prime Directive #4 Unfortunately, the Canadians misinterpreted the Autobots' actions and hostile and attacked. With the stakes high and the Autobots unable to resume their operations, Wheeljack drained his power into a nearby satellite dish and saved Canada from the cyber-virus. Prime Directive #5
