G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers

Shortly after G.I. Joe was formed, Doc talked to Scarlett about how Snake-Eyes had lost his face, voice and family due to a recent Cobra attack. He probably felt a bit embarrassed about gossiping when Snake-Eyes and Duke showed up behind them. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #2 In the aftermath of Cobra's attack on the SPS Research Facility, Doc rushed in to provide medical assistance. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #3

Doc was among the Joes who sent to Oregon to investigate a crash site. Upon returning to headquarters with two alien robots in tow, he told Shipwreck not to laugh at Barbecue's outfit since they "might all need space suits soon enough." Targets of Opportunity

Doc was part of a G.I. Joe strike force that stormed a Cobra hideout housing deadly Creeper bombs. He gave fellow Joe Breaker a field-patch during mission, assuring him that his injuries were non-fatal. Though the mission ran into some complications when the Transformers Bumblebee and Starscream got embroiled in the conflict, it ultimately culminated in Cobra Commander's apparent demise, signaling a victory for the Joes. G.I. Joe, and the Earth at large, found themselves caught up in a war against the planet Cybertron. Doc was among the many operatives sent to the metallic planet to take the offensive against their opponents. After an attack against the Decepticon city of Trypticon ended with the Joes on the run, they regrouped at Green Zone 0-8-6, their temporary camp behind enemy lines. There, Doc tended to Wild Bill after he stumbled back to camp in the dead of night, badly injured from his confrontation against the Decepticons. Targetmasters

After a confrontation with some Autobots nearly wiped out both the Joes and their opponents, Grimlock showed up at the Green Zone accompanied by Breaker, Jinx, Cover Girl, and Clutch. Grimlock declared a truce between the Joes and the Autobots had been reached, and both factions partied together to cement their alliance. During the celebration, Bazooka munched on some of the foliage that had been created by the Joes' terraforming process. The plant proved to be psychoactive, prompting Doc to ask his hallucinating friend if he was feeling alright. Form Follows Function The Joes then moved base camp to within the Autobot's mobile city, Metroplex. There, he and Ratchet compared notes, excited over the possibilities "terrestrial cyberorganic medicine" offered. Everybody Hates Metroplex

Doc performed an autopsy on the body of Wild Bill, sadly reflecting on the many missions they'd been on together, when he found a technoactive cube placed inside his friend's chest. To his shock, the cube then grabbed his scalpel before miraculously bringing Wild Bill back to life. Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #12

Carl Greer was born in Concord, Massachusetts. Having always dreamed of being a medical doctor, Greer attended Harvard University for his undergraduate and medical school and finally completed his residency at the John Hopkins School of Medicine. While undergoing his higher education, Greer met and married his wife and had a daughter with her. Deciding that just being a doctor wasn't good enough, Greer decided that he wanted to do as much good in the world as he could. Ultimately, he decided to join the U.S. Army in hopes of one day joining the elite counterterrorist group G.I. Joe. After completing Airborne School, Mountaineering School, and the Desert Training Unit, Greer eventually obtained the rank of Captain before being invited to join the Joes. Doc Sr. profile

After G.I. Joe broke ties with the United States government, Doc Senior became the chief medic on the Lemuria, G.I. Joe's home base. He and Grand Slam worked on a method of detecting Dire Wraiths, but couldn't successfully develop one, with their scanner recognizing both of the Docs as being Wraiths. G.I. Joe vol. 5 #1 After Skywarp insisted that the Joes fix his inactive teleportation systems, Doc and Grand Slam agreed to help. However, when Skywarp attempted to test his teleportation systems, it malfunctioned and caused the machines he was attached to to explode. Doc threw his body in front of Grand Slam to protect him from the shrapnel, but in the process, he was revealed to really be a Wraith. As Doc fell into a coma, wounded from the shrapnel, he asked Grand Slam to tell his daughter that she could "be whatever she wanted". G.I. Joe vol. 5 #3 Lifeline and Grand Slam managed to stabilize Doc, over Skywarp's objections; though the ex-Decepticon insisted that, as a Dire Wraith, the medic couldn't be trusted and should be killed, Scarlett and Grand Slam refused, pointing out that he had only revealed himself to save Grand Slam's life. Doc evidently recovered from his injuries, as Hi-Tech begged for either of the Docs to be called and help the mortally wounded Mainframe. Time Will Rust

An Army chaplain sent home after being tortured in enemy captivity, Transformers #22 Doc was assigned to "glorified guard duty" at a secure location. Transformers #21 After a giant alien robot was brought after being captured, Doc chatted up a fellow guard who remarked that he'd gotten scared after his brother had gone MIA serving on the USS Henry Harrison, and asked Doc to pray for him. Looking at the prisoner's mammoth form, Doc remarked that he'd stopped praying a long time ago. Transformers #20

Some time later, Doc was startled when the giant robot woke up and asked him about the Bible he was reading. Doc explained that it was something he read to feel safe when confronted by things too big to comprehend. The robot remarked that he had been trying to find the same sort of solace when he'd been captured, and asked Doc what his captors were going to do to him. Before Doc could answer, General Flagg arrived, wheeling in a device. Realizing that the robot was about to be tortured, Doc tried to argue that the robot had rights as a prisoner of war, but his pleas fell on deaf ears, and Flagg began inflicting excruciating pain on the robot. Transformers #21

Eventually, Doc decided he'd had enough, and pulled a gun on one of his fellow soldiers as he released the robot's bindings. The robot, Ultra Magnus, smuggled Doc out in his chest compartment as he smashed through the base to rescue his human friend Carly. Once the three were safely away, Doc stepped out of Magnus, opting to stay behind and face his consequences while Magnus and Carly made their getaway. When Magnus asked Doc why he helped him, Doc explained that he too had faced capture and torture, and that he now kept going for the sake of the people who needed him. Transformers #22
