Amalgamous Prime is one of the Thirteen, the original Primes, who were created by Primus to battle and defeat his nemesis, Unicron. A gentle, good-natured prankster, Amalgamous Prime was the trickster of the Thirteen and the master of change; he could instantaneously assume just about any shape he could imagine. Amalgamous's curious nature and independent mind meant that he rarely stayed in one place for very long. His equally mutable Scythe mimicked his own whimsical form, constantly changing from one shape or state of matter to another. Supposedly, he would go on to found the Shifters, who took after his fluid and malleable nature.

: Released as part of the first 2026 wave of Age of the Primes Voyager Class toys (fourth wave overall), Amalgamous Prime is modeled after a blend of his designs from the Covenant of Primus and Transformers One, nominally forming a hunchbacked, four-armed robot. His unusual posture means he's packaged a bit strangely to fit in the box, and needs a little reconfiguration once removed from the cardboard backing.
: The figure's main event is a version of the War for Cybertron Trilogy "C.O.M.B.A.T. System"-style gimmick befitting his "multi-mode shapeshifter" nature: his limbs and head are detachable, featuring not only numerous 5 mm posts and sockets (as well as some smaller post/tab/socket combos), but also micro-vehicle kibble and sculpted cockpits. However, like most figures with this play pattern released from Legacy: Evolution onward, Amalgamous is capable of converting to his primary alternate mode, a somewhat frog-like spider-tank, without partsforming.
: If he is taken apart, Amalgamous' pieces can be rearranged to form alternate configurations and separate mini-vehicles, or weapons and armor for other figures. The instructions show five different part combinations: a mini-car made from the forward pair of forearms, a mini-jet formed from the rear set of winged forearms, two different mini-fighters made from the forearms attached to the two finned... thrusters?... above his robot-mode shoulders, and a mini-tank centered around his Scythe as a cannon. In an undocumented feature, Amalgamous has a small ratchet joint in his waist that allows for side-to-side movement.
: As you probably assumed, Amalgamous lends himself well to fan modes, such as a more humanoid robot mode and a pretty convincing recreation of his Transformers: One design.
: He comes with three Artifacts: two variants of his signature T-Cog, and his Scythe. One T-cog, modeled after the one seen in the original cartoon episode "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1", stores away inside his head, with the post forming the pupil of his mono-eye. It is also the only artifact of the three marked with Amalgamous’s sigil. The other cog, based on the T-cogs seen in Prime, has a 5 mm socket and can be stored on the end of his scythe-handle; yes, you can combo the two cogs if you're feeling frisky. The Scythe forms a gun turret in both of his suggested tank modes, plus the blaster back-end is able to detach and can be used elsewhere or as a hand-held weapon.

Go ahead, try and make a toy of me. I dare you.

Ask Vector Prime

[edit]

During the time that the Thirteen of the multiverse existed as singularities, Vector Prime recounted in his ANN column how Amalgamous and four of his siblings ended up in the Realm of the Primes following the dissolution of the Thirteen. When Vector Prime (who had self-induced amnesia in order to protect the location of Nexus Prime's components) ended up in the Realm of the Primes during his campaign against Mogahn the Mass, Vector's siblings unlocked his memories as Primus's appointed guardian of space and time. Vector Prime then returned to normal space and wrested away Mogahn's Cyber Caliber. Using Amalgamous's gift, Vector reformatted the blade into Rhisling and vanquished Mogahn, sending the Mass back in time and thus causing the Big Bang.

Vector's audience was confused by this account, however, as Amalgamous was not known to be a member of the Thirteen outside of the Uniend Cluster, and moreover, Vector had claimed that he used to go by the name "Adaptus", who readers understood to be a separate entity from another universe. The distressed Vector realized that he was somehow conflating memories from different universes into one (in actuality, a portent of the coming Shroud that would eradicate the Thirteen's singularity nature), making it hard to know whether Amalgamous was truly part of the events he had described or not. Power of the Primes marketing material

[edit]

Amalgamous Prime's Spark passed into the possession of one of the twelve Prime Masters; hidden within a suit of decoy armor, they safeguarded the abilities of the Primes until the present day. By uniting with a larger Transformer, the Prime Master could channel the powers of Amalgamous's Spark and grant them unique abilities that varied with each new partner. Power of the Primes

I'm on the left! So they say.

Amalgamous Prime and the other twelve Primes were created by Primus at the dawn of Cybertron, and they ruled Cybertron benevolently through its Golden Age. When a war with the Quintessons threw the planet into a protracted, violent conflict, the Primes' secretary, Sentinel Prime, herded the Thirteen into a Quintesson ambush within a remote cave. Amalgamous would be killed during the battle, with his brothers' and sisters' bodies resting in the cave for fifty cycles before being rediscovered by miners Orion Pax, D-16, Elita, and B-127.

A vision of Amalgamous Prime and the other Primes later appeared as Alpha Trion declared a damaged Orion Pax to be the next wielder of the Matrix of Leadership, Optimus Prime. Transformers One

Amalgamous Prime was one of thirteen elected to become Prime Leaders to lead the unified Maximal population of Cybertron. He was part of the Prime Council that berated Leo Prime for allowing Predacons to invade their world from another universe. Amalgamous later joined fellow Prime Megatronus in his plan to use the concentrated energy of the Allspark to bring them over to the next universe, but was defeated by the former Leo Prime in battle. Transformers Roleplaying Game

[edit]

Amalgamous Prime was sometimes known as the “Grand Architect” of the Thirteen. A curious, ever-shifting being, Amalgamous adopted thousands of alternate modes over the course of his life; some knew him as Adaptus, and some sources suggest that Amalgamous engineered the God War that precipitated the fall of the Primes. Ancient humans knew him as :}}Poseidon|. Transformers One Sourcebook In modern times, Amalgamous was closely associated with Triple Changers. Core Rulebook

Power of the Primes

[edit]
Wow, we weren't expecting a real toy of this guy.
 • Throne of the Primes (Leader Class, 2018)
 • Japanese ID number: PP-43
 • TakaraTomy release date: January 26, 2019
 • Known designers: Marcelo Matere (throne designer, packaging artist){{#if: |, {}}}
Power of the Primes Amalgamous Prime is a retool of the Micronus/Cloudburst inner robot with a new sigil/backpack, packaged in the Throne of the Primes set.
This toy has identical features to the other Prime Masters in the line. The Titan Master-like robot can store inside decoy armor or ride Legends Class figures in vehicle mode, and is fully compatible with toys from the previous Titans Return line. The "Power Swap" gimmick means its spark form can plug onto any decoy armor's weapon form (which has a 5 mm post to be held by larger figures), Deluxe Class figures' chest armor, Voyager Class figures' bucklers, Leader Class figures' Matrix (in place of their Matrix core), combiners' torsos (in place of their Enigma of Combination), or the included Scepter of Sparks or Halo of Primus accessories. With the power of your imagination, this bestows the Prime Master's unique power on the larger figure.
Though Amalgamous is not packaged with a decoy armor, one assumes given gang-molding principles that Amalgamous's tooling is paired with the Waverider-themed armor that was almost used for Legends Grand Maximus.
This set debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, and was later sold via Hasbro Toy Shop online. It was also available at general retail in Taiwan.

Age of the Primes

[edit]

In the town where nothing familiar can be found
 • The Thirteen Amalgamous Prime (Voyager Class, 2026)
Released as part of the first 2026 wave of Age of the Primes Voyager Class toys (fourth wave overall), Amalgamous Prime is modeled after a blend of his designs from the Covenant of Primus and Transformers One, nominally forming a hunchbacked, four-armed robot. His unusual posture means he's packaged a bit strangely to fit in the box, and needs a little reconfiguration once removed from the cardboard backing.
The figure's main event is a version of the War for Cybertron Trilogy "C.O.M.B.A.T.
If he is taken apart, Amalgamous' pieces can be rearranged to form alternate configurations and separate mini-vehicles, or weapons and armor for other figures.
As you probably assumed, Amalgamous lends himself well to fan modes, such as a more humanoid robot mode and a pretty convincing recreation of his Transformers: One design.
He comes with three Artifacts: two variants of his signature T-Cog, and his Scythe.
