Alligatron is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Of the many would-be conquerors and despots who have ravaged planet Beast, perhaps none have had the sheer determination and force of will as Alligatron (アリゲトロン Arigetoron). He began as a wandering warrior-for-hire whose sheer strength, utter ruthlessness, savagery, and willingness to kill his own allies earned him the nickname "The Walking Murder Weapon". In time, he was recruited by the Royal Lion Clan, serving under Prince White Leo. But Alligatron grew resentful of the Lion Clan and began to plot rebellion. He recruited numerous like-minded beasts, like the crime lord Killer Fish, and even sought help from offworld, finding it in Galvatron's Decepticons. Thus began a bloody revolution that unseated the Lion Clan and cast the world into chaos. So great was his drive to crush the Lion Clan that even death could not stop him: his spirit, infused with "Dark Star Power", persisted and sought revenge on White Leo for slaying him with the Burstsun Power.

But despite his machinations, the war did eventually come to an end in White Leo's favor, Alligatron's Decepticon allies having abandoned him. Returned to the land of the living, Alligatron changed considerably. Struck by what he had done, he abandoned his prior ways, and sought the life of a pacifist. He now rules the country of Lennonia, aided by the also-reformed Killer Fish as his subordinate Emperor. He is often dour, the weight of his prior sins weighing heavy on him, but he has devoted his life to act of kindness and helping others.

Though he is now extremely loathe to use them, his skills in battle are still utterly devastating. His physical strength is easily a match for White Leo's. His jaws can crush rocks with ease, and he can fire a powerful phaser beam from his chest. His Allistretcher (アリストレッチャー Arisutorecchā) MVP Weapon is a razor-sharp blade that can cut through tank armor, as well as extend great lengths to slice targets from afar. Though he wishes to live in peace, he is still willing to take up arms once again to protect all Beastformers.

Galvatron and the Decepticons came to planet Beast to enslave the population and force them to work on a mysterious engineering project. To make the task easier, they formed an alliance with Alligatron and his soldiers to round up the populace.

During a rebel attack on the Decepticon stronghold led by White Leo, Alligatron ordered his soldiers (including another Alligatron(!)) to kill all of the rebels and leave no prisoners. Later, when the Autobot Transformers arrived on Beast, a spying Snakebomb reported their presence to the leader Alligatron, who in turn relayed the information to Galvatron.

When Wheelie and Daniel tried to infiltrate the stronghold, an Alligatron was standing guard at the entrance.

Later, an Alligatron alerted the other Decepticons of the approaching Autobot Transformers. He fled the scene when Rodimus Prime shot the stronghold and sent rubble flying. Rebellion on Planet Beast

The Headmasters comic

Alligatron led Predaking and the Sharkticons against the heroic Beasts on their home planet. His slaughter was interrupted by the Autobot Headmasters, but Predaking managed to capture Highbrow and Brainstorm for the Decepticons. Alligatron suggested they use the Autobots as bait for White Leo and the rest of the Headmasters. The arrival of Raiden and the Trainbots swayed the tides of battle, however, and Galvatron and the Decepticons abandoned Beast, leaving Alligatron to his fate. The Decisive Battle of Planet Beast!

Beastformers catalogs/comic

When White Leo obtained the all-defeating Burstsun power, Alligatron sent Devilbat to figure out his secret weakness. However, Devilbat dropped the Secret Photo containing White Leo's secret into Beast's largest forest, Series 2 catalog and Alligatron was forced to lead a group into the woods to recover it. He was able to do so, and was about to attack White Leo and his loyalists when the fortress the Autobot Beasts just discovered turned out to be the legendary Red Phoenix. With its power, the Autobot Beastformers were able to defeat Alligatron and his troops, obtaining the Secret Photo in the process. Series 3 catalog

Irate at his defeat, Alligatron sent Devilbat out to find the best place for an ambush, and the Decepticon Beasts settled on a bottomless swamp in the middle of the forest. Alligatron fought against White Leo, but was killed in the confrontation. Not quite done with this world, Alligatron returned as a ghost and haunted the Autobot base. To enact his revenge, Alligatron revived Cobrander from the stone statue that Red Phoenix was guarding before it awoke. Burstsun catalog

Legends comic

When Galvatron came to enslave Planet Beast in 2011, Alligatron was all too happy to ally himself with the Decepticons, who in turn provided him with weapons and Sharkticon troops to take over the planet. LG51 Doublecross Prologue

Alligatron took part in the final battle between the Beastformers and the Laser Beasts on Beast in 2023. He fought fellow crocodilian Dinogator and later watched as a portal opened to reveal 2021-based Transformers and their allies fleeing the end of the Legends World. He was elated when he saw former ally Weirdwolf among the crowd. The Road to Legends' Revival Chapter 1

In 2038, the then-peaceful Beast was invaded by Galvatron II's Decepticons. Alligatron was part of the joint Beastformer-Laser Beast alliance that fought against the invaders. The Road to Legends' Revival Chapter 3

Part of the first series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Alligatron is an anthropomorphic albino alligator in dark olive robotic armor. The Battle Emblem on his chest reveals one of three symbols when warmed up; Fire, Water or Wood.

Nominally, he comes with a bronze blade-weapon marked with a "15" (pictured at right). However, there is also a chance he could come with the weapon from one of the other 11 Beastformers in his shipping case; it is unclear why this happened.

He was re-released in the subsequent second and third series; while the toy proper was not changed, the packaging and packed-in bio card was. The Series 1 release comes in a generic purple-grid "Destron Beastformer" box, with a purple-grid bio card with a painted character image on the front, though there was a random chance of his card being replaced by the rare "Holography Mirror" card. Series 2 came in a green-grid generic "Destron Beastformer" box, with the bio card putting the painted image on a jungle backdrop; as part of the "Pack D" assortment, his bio card could be replaced by the rare "Bewitching Serpent Seal" card. His Series 3 release was completely unchanged aside from having the "Pack E" mark on the box, and he had the chance to have the rare "VS Holography Mirror" card.

A colorless-clear version of Alligatron dubbed "Ghost Alligatron" was available exclusively in the first Beastformers multipack, the Burstsun Special Set (バーストサンスペシャルセット Bāsutosan Supesharu Setto). This blindpacked set contains 10 figures out of a potential 14, but thankfully, these were not randomly-packed, and came in two distinct lineups:

The first version has White Leo with an exclusive "Burstsun" Battle Emblem, Black Jaguar, Būpink, Dog Hunter, Dream Eater, Muskhorn, Pangol, Slo, White Cow, and Udan.

The second version has Ghost Alligatron, Black Jaguar, Būpink, Crowmax, Earthhog, Mingo Kid, Pangol, Slo, White Cow, and Udan.

Ghost Alligatron's card notes he is infused with "Dark Star Power", the counter to the Burstsun Power. It is possible this means his Battle Emblem sticker is also a "Burstsun" style simply called by another name, but we have yet to find any confirmation of this; many surviving samples have lost their stickers, and online pictures generally don't show the toys' Emblems in their visible state.

Beastformers

Re-released in the Transformers-less Beastformers sequel series, Alligatron was given a straight re-release with new packaging and a new, more filled-out bio card using comic-style line-art rather than a painted portrait. This new card also gave his weapon, now branded an "MVP Weapon", the name "Allistretcher". Speaking of, just like with the Transformers release, there was a chance he could come with the weapon of any other Beastformer in the shipping case; this time the potential mix-up was played up as part of the "role-playing game" attached to the line, encouraging kids to buy more of the toys; matching the Beasts with their same-numbered weapons gave them more power in-game.

He was sold in the second assortment of individually-packed Beastformers, with a peg-hole in the top flap, and a sticker on the bottom with his name and role on it. This series did not have any kind of "rare card" random pack-in promotion. Samples of Alligatron (among others) have also been found on simple bubble cards, with the bio card positioned so the name shows clearly under the figure's feet, but it is uncertain if this style of packaging was ever properly sold at retail.

Late in the run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)

• Alligatron (Gashapon Beastformer, 1987)

Many of the first-series Beastformers were also sold in gashapon capsule machines, Alligatron included. This version is identical to the regularly-released boxed version, including the randomized rubsign, except the gashapons appear to have randomized weapons (or just crummy quality control).

There is also a rare all-white/cream version of Alligatron; these rare versions can vary in how white they actually are, and it's uncertain if that's how they started or if some have simply yellowed with age. These white versions tend to be very expensive on the secondary market.

Candy toys

A 1-inch-tall, super-deformed, articulation-free version of White Leo that could come in red, blue or green plastic, representing the Fire, Water and Wood elements (even though he still had a rubsign). All of the SD Beastformers come with a different Beastformer's weapon attached to their left shoulder by a snippable sprue: Alligatron came with Bombsheep's "Bomb Scissors", while his "Allistretcher" weapon came with Zebra Ball.

This toy was sold in three different ways. First it was available as a gashapon capsule prize by Takara. Then it was sold as a candy toy from Takara, randomly-packed in a box of three with a packet of ramune-flavored candy tablets. Then again as a candy toy, this time through candy/snack company Meiji, in randomized packs of two with a packet of "chocoballs" (chocolate covered malted milk balls). The Meiji release also has much more elaborate packaging, with newly-painted box art (which sometimes shows characters not made in this assortment), and the entire interior of the box printed with game rules, character bios, chunks of lore, etc.

• Ramune Beastformers Battle Card (1988)

A gold-foil "Battle Card" of Alligatron, featuring his painted character art from his original bio card (seen at top), was available in randomly-packed sets of cards that came with ramune-flavored candy tablets, sold by candy/snack company Meiji, during the post-Transformers "RPG" sequel series. The back of the card features a severely truncated bio, with data for the game from the Meiji chocoball SD figures' packaging.

• There has not yet been an explanation as to how Alligatron returned to the land of the living.
• Alligatron's 1988 bio gives him the nickname "Alli" (アリ Ari) and notes he was born in the Bow River (バウ川 Bau gawa).
• Kreon Alligatron uses an extensively "painted" beast head part of the type first used by Razorclaw and other Predacon Kreons, and wields the curved blade first used by Insecticon and Rampage.
