*At the moment, it's not terribly clear how the Primus Vanguard setting relates to both the G1 World and the setting of the various Vanguard-related e-HOBBY comics. Though Primus makes a number of allusions to ferrying the deceased Blue Order to the "next world", there's not currently much evidence towards the kind of specific 1:1 reincarnation that White believes will happen. We've given most of the Vanguard commanders their own pages in the meantime as opposed to folding them into their presumed reincarnations, with three exceptions: Yellow Splendid Convoy and Red Sentinel Prime have been folded in with their inspirations due to Generations Selects being their Japanese fiction debut, while all signs point to Black Go Prime being the guy described by his original toy's bio.
*Though a number of characters speculate on the idea of the Vanguard being directly reincarnated in new forms (in particular, White Gallant Convoy convinces himself that he has to die so Optimus Prime can be born), this is eventually shown to be a misconception, firmly establishing them as unique characters. In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape our sight!

In times of darkness, the Primus Vanguard (プライマスヴァンガード Puraimasu Vangādo) vanquished evil to restore peace. Formed and led by Primus to safeguard their ancient universe, its membership is composed of warriors from various dimensions. These warriors are individually referred to as Warriors of the Seven Lights (七つの光の戦士達 Nanatsu no Hikari no Senshitachi), as the Vanguard is split into seven colour-coded Orders. These Orders are associated with both an element and a Transformers concept. Each is led by either a Convoy (司令官 (コンボイ), lit. "Commander") or a Prime (元帥 (プライム), lit. "Marshal"), the latter of whom have Orders composed entirely of Convoys and Convoy-adjacent beings.

These Orders are:

Each Order is entrusted by Primus with a Matrix of Star Power as well as its own planet.

...watermelon, cantaloupe, yadda yadda...

The Primus Vanguard was founded by the titular prophet Primus to carry out his charge from the creator god G One to safeguard the Seven Lights and seven universes of the Precursor World, with one colored Order for each colored world. The Star Power of each world was pooled into a Matrix and entrusted to the commander of that world's respective Order. Primus himself possessed an eighth, Silver Matrix with the unique ability to hold all seven of the Star Powers and, if filled completely, gave the bearer the horrifying power to remake the universe in their image. Finale 1 They specialised in dealing with intangible and extra-dimensional threats. Blue Big Convoy comic Their principal opponents were the Specters, "shadows" of the Seven Lights. Finale 1 On the eve of their final battle, Blue Big Convoy used the power of his α Matrix to wipe out a group of Specters, but not before they prophesied that they would return when "the seven were divided." Blue Big Convoy comic This gave White Gallant Convoy an idea: if they pooled their Star Powers, previously a preciously guarded resource, he postulated they could "extinguish all shadows," ie annihilate all of the Specters at once. Blue ran with the idea, and over the misgivings of Red Sentinel Prime and Green Tender Convoy that they could obliterate their own universes in the process, the corps agreed to unleash the full might of the Seven Lights and eradicated the Specters. Rather than overwriting their universes entirely, the Primus Vanguard found they had united their multiverse into a single peaceful, if jumbled, world.

This peace was not to last as the Primus Vanguard was soon faced with a new threat: the Vok. When the forces of their Sentinel Armada proved ineffective against the Vok's Novaroid swarms, the Primus Vanguard's leadership convened to discuss their next course of action. Upon hearing that the White Matrix had traced their enemy to the future, Primus resolved to use the temporal powers of the Black Matrix to gather intelligence on the Vok, overruling the concerns of Black Go Prime that such knowledge was forbidden for a reason.

...uh, superstitious and cowardly lot...

Sure enough, Primus was driven to hysteria by what he saw: the Vok were in fact an evolved form of the Specters, returned from a future reality to meddle with the timeline- a reality where he was laid low and his lowly pet ape Primacron was like unto a god- the reality of the G1 World! Frantic, Primus burst in on his commanders, demanding all of their Matrices and ranting of the need to destroy the universe themselves to avert the future of the Vok and Primacron. Aghast, the Order leaders quietly returned to their respective worlds, with the exception of an impassive Blue. Thus, the seven Orders were divided as the Specters had prophesied, and the Vanguard saw the last of their leader for some time. Finale 1

Some time later, the Blue Order leapt into action in order to save Star Convoy from an attack from Ultra Megatron, both of whom had come to the Vanguard's universe along with two teams of Seacons. However, a pair of traitorous Straxuses activated a berserker program they had infected the Blue Order with, forcing them to destroy each other. Blue was able to fight off the virus long enough to take his own life with the Matrix Sword, which the more intelligent Straxus took from his body. Primus warned the other Orders of the Straxuses and their alliance with Ultra Megatron, but the Seacons, empowered by Angolmois Energy, took advantage of the confusion to plunder the Matrices of all but the Purple and Blue Orders. Purple Wicked Convoy, who desired power himself, proposed to Ultra Megatron and the Straxuses that they form an alliance. God Neptune comic 1.

God Neptune, now empowered by the stolen Matrices, ended up in an outer space standoff with the Purple-Megatron-Straxus alliance. Though he was able to shrug off attacks from Megatron and Straxus, the combiner was surprised when Blue's spirit emanated from the Matrix Sword, having been sealed there upon the moment of his death, and blasted him with the stolen Matrix Buster. Yellow Splendid Convoy, Green Tender Convoy and Black Go Prime then arrived and restrained the combiner, allowing White Gallant Convoy to launch an attack in his own combiner mode: White Convoy Grand Prime. As he did so, he telepathically contacted Star Convoy, believing that the Autobot commander was his own future reincarnation, asking him to take care of the future. The attack failed thanks to God Neptune's Neptune Sword, and he was summarily bisected. Megatron then combined with Purple's trailer to boost his power in a new "SF Gun mode", knocking the combiner out of his combination. Halfshell attempted to call his accomplice Turtler for help, but was left emotionally broken following the revelation that he had been merely using him, leaving him totally alone. However, White's spirit spoke to him, having pulled the same trick as Blue, encouraging Halfshell to fight for his crew after reading his memories through the Neptune Sword. Halfshell then cut Megatron in two and used the power of the various Matrices to revive his crew. God Neptune comic 2

...with liberty and justice for all!

Megatron recovered in turn by absorbing the life force of the twin Straxuses, and combined with Purple to counter with the fearsome Omega Hand Mode, only to be thwarted by- Lawbhammer!? The Seacons' forgotten junior member ousted Scylla and seized control of God Neptune as the Seacons' mysterious golden benefactor arrived to announce his own employer- Primus, freshly arrived on Primacron's massive Neo Primus robot! Primus rammed Purple and Megatron apart and blasted them with his Big Bang Cannon to harvest the Blue Star Power Megatron had himself taken from Blue. Primus bade the Lawbhammer-controlled God Neptune toss him the Neptune Sword now flush with the White, Green, Red, Yellow, and Black Star Powers and ran his final commander through, absorbing Purple's Star Power. With all Seven Lights, Primus activated his Silver Matrix, bringing an end to the Primus Vanguard and the Precursor World with them. Finale 1

Blue's sacrifice also granted sentience to Magna Convoy, previously a Blue Order support drone, who was literally brought to life by his rage at the Straxuses' betrayal. As the last member of the Primus Vanguard, he swore on his predecessors that he would recover the Blue Order's Matrix Sword. Cybertron Magna Convoy prequel comic After succeeding, Magna Convoy detected signs that other members may have survived, though he recognized that the Primus Vanguard of old was no more and sought to recreate them anew. Legends comic

Waspinator of the Legends World was unsure about which universe the Primus Vanguard operated in, so he asked Delta Magnus of the G1 World. Magnus clarified that he was part of the Primal Vanguard and had never heard of the Primus Vanguard, suggesting they were not from the same world. Bonus Edition Vol. EX

Notes

 • Though a number of characters speculate on the idea of the Vanguard being directly reincarnated in new forms (in particular, White Gallant Convoy convinces himself that he has to die so Optimus Prime can be born), this is eventually shown to be a misconception, firmly establishing them as unique characters. We've given most of the Vanguard commanders their own pages, with three exceptions: Yellow Splendid Convoy and Red Sentinel Prime have been folded in with their inspirations due to Generations Selects being their Japanese fiction debut, while all signs point to Black Go Prime being the guy described by his original toy's bio.
 • The Japanese terms for "Commander" (司令官) and "Marshal" (元帥) are normally pronounced shireikan and gensui, but Primus Vanguard stories employ a wordplay technique wherein a typical Japanese spelling is assigned an arbitrary foreign pronunciation, in these cases "Convoy" (コンボイ) and "Prime" (プライム), respectively.
