Inferno (G1)
| The name or term "Inferno" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Inferno (disambiguation). |
- Inferno is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

If there's a blazing fire, Inferno is going to be one of the first bots on the scene, rushing in headlong without regard for his own safety to rescue anyone trapped inside. If there's a blazing firefight Inferno will also be one of the first bots on the scene, and probably even faster than the previous scenario.
Few bots are as gung-ho as Inferno, whose heat-resistant body and seeming lack of fear make him a tough customer in any kind of emergency. He certainly prefers the thrill of gunning down Decepticons over tackling a four-alarm fire, but he doesn't let his thirst for battle interfere with his duty as a rescue bot.
Amusingly, he's the rational, cautious one in the odd-couple friendship he has with Red Alert.

Inferno appeared without explanation one day as Optimus Prime explained their mission to stop the Insecticons from attacking the Nova Power Plant. He was the first to roll out on Prime's orders. During the battle at the power plant, the gun-slinging fire fighter stood by Jazz and shot down Laserbeak before they rushed off to rescue the human pilots of a downed helicopter. After the super-powered Insecticons crushed Wheeljack and electrocuted Ironhide, Inferno sprayed fire-retardant foam on Ironhide and loaded him into Prime's trailer as the Autobots retreated. Inferno later participated in the Autobot counterattack at Iron Mountain where he and the other Autobots were buried under tons of rock. Hound was heard to complain about Inferno ending up on his head whilst they were trapped. The Insecticon Syndrome

When the Dinobots accidentally set fire to Autobot headquarters, Inferno helped Red Alert douse the flames. Dinobot Island, Part 1 Later, Inferno did his part to preserve the sanctity of the timestream by spraying cowboys with fire-retardant foam. Eh... you had to be there. Dinobot Island, Part 2
Inferno showed off his athletic ability in a friendly game of basketball with Optimus Prime, Tracks, and Smokescreen. When Powerglide discovered that Grapple and Hoist were working with the Constructicons, Inferno came with the other Autobots to investigate, where he assisted in the fight against Devastator. Though Inferno was initially stunned when Devastator deflected some of Cliffjumper's glass gas, the Autobots eventually emerged victorious. The Master Builders

Later, Inferno was ordered to guard over Red Alert as the Autobots repelled an attack by the Decepticons on the Negavator super weapon's bunker. Inferno, itching for a fight, abandoned Red Alert despite his paranoid friend's repeated requests for him to stay. Inferno rescued Red Alert when his friend was buried under rubble which had the unfortunate side-effect of damaging Red Alert's logic circuits to the point of overload. Inferno later proved his friendship to Red when he saved Red Alert from himself when the latter, in a state of paranoia, allied himself with Starscream and the Decepticons. Auto Berserk
Inferno and the other Autobots were sent on a rocket to the sun as part of Megatron's plot. Though all hope seemed lost, Trailbreaker created a force field that protected the Autobots and allowed Cosmos to return them to Earth. The Autobots arrived just in time to stop Megatron, and Inferno helped shoot at the Decepticons during the onslaught. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2

After the Decepticons caused a disastrous explosion at an airport that severely injured the Dinobots, Inferno arrived with Hoist and Red Alert to put out the fire and cart the Dinobots back to headquarters. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1 When Megatron disrupted Earth's radio waves, peril was unleashed worldwide. Among the calamities was a train derailed and blown up by a fallen tree, and the dead radio meant that the fire lookout was unavailable. Luckily, Inferno and Red Alert were in the area, and together they worked to put out the fire, with Inferno watering down the flames. Blaster Blues

Inferno helped defend New York City against Megatron's army of robot drones, and put out a fire at the Chrysler Building. Make Tracks He later fought the Decepticons at a baseball stadium where Megatron was trying to set up his latest space bridge. Inferno extended a net from his ladder assembly to catch a pair of humans Starscream had been terrorizing in the air. During the battle, the Space Bridge was inadvertently activated, transporting Inferno and several other Autobots and Decepticons to an alien world, where they were all merely the size of toys. Having landed in a child's room, Inferno helped the Autobots gain the boy Aron's trust when he put out the fire Starscream started in a toy building. Child's Play On their way back to Earth, the Autobots were intercepted by an alien named Bosch and Inferno and the others were immobilized. They were eventually restored, but only after some complicated wheeling and dealing by Bosch and Smokescreen. The Gambler
As the Insecticons rampaged through the world's farmland, Inferno and a squad of Autobots attempted to overpower them before they caused a worldwide famine. Unfortunately, the blasted bugs were so strong from repeatedly feedings, they repelled a group of Autobots twice their number without even calling upon their Insecticon clones. Inferno kept Tracks from death by fire, but otherwise the mission was a total failure. Quest for Survival
Inferno was one of only four Autobots left undamaged by Kremzeek's disastrous run through the Ark, thanks to Sparkplug Witwicky's insulating foam. Despite this, he and the other remaining Autobots were hard pressed to even slow the little spark down. Even Inferno's time-tested solution of shooting foam at every problem failed miserably. Eventually, it was the human scientist Sōji Yoshikawa who came up with the plan that finally dispersed the creature. Kremzeek!

Inferno came searching for Tracks and Bumblebee when they were captured by Lord Chumley. When Inferno saw a burning building, he couldn't help but rush in and check it out. However, it was one of Lord Chumley's traps, and a hose wrapped around Inferno's leg, capturing him. Yes. Inferno's bravery impressed Chumley, who remarked that he had never seen a species so unafraid of fire! The captured Autobots were freed when Optimus Prime (with a little help from the Decepticon Triple Changers) defeated Chumley. Prime Target
Inferno was reunited with his old friend Firestar when he, Ironhide and Powerglide went to search for where Optimus Prime had wandered off to. The Search for Alpha Trion
Inferno was briefly seen assembled with the rest of the Autobots before they drove off to rescue Perceptor from Fox Creek Canyon. Cosmic Rust With Red Alert and the Protectobots, Inferno watered down a blazing village during the Combaticons' attempt to move the Earth closer to its sun. The Revenge of Bruticus

Inferno was in one of the Autobot teams that captured the Stunticons. While Grapple ignited the oil Breakdown and Wildrider were in, Inferno doused it (something he "wouldn't feel good about" when he did it) to help capture the stunt freaks. He was, eventually, among those Autobots taken down by Menasor when the Stunticons formed into him to escape. Masquerade

Early in the war on Cybertron, before Optimus Prime rose to command, Inferno was one of a group of Autobots known as the Magnificent Six that were covertly sent deep into Stanix to create chaos and confusion among the enemy. Alongside Prowl, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack, Jazz, and Stampede, he released the town of Yuss from enemy tyranny, and was hailed a hero by the resident neutralists. A retaliatory attack proved more difficult to repel, and the group faced off against Megadeath and his elite cadre. They found themselves entrenched for a week while the neutralists grew to resent their presence. The siege ended with the neutralists betraying Inferno's band to the enemy.
As Megadeath's captives, the six were subject to tortures and humiliations for seven days. In one of his sadistic games, Megadeath gave five of the six blasters, and offered them a chance to win their freedom; they only needed to stop him from killing Stampede, the only unarmed member. Inferno and the others failed to even take up arms, so thoroughly had Megadeath succeeded in breaking them by that point. Megadeath then gave the Autobots two hours to find his neutralist prisoners before he detonated five Neutronic bombs to obliterate the entire region. Finding their mettle, the Autobots forewent any attempt to rescue either themselves or the civilians for the Decepticon's entertainment. They instead hid, and ambushed Megadeath when he came to investigate their lack of action. Even after being crippled, Megadeath refused to divulge where he had stashed the neutralists, so the Autobots left him behind to die to his own device. When later questioned about what had transpired during their mission, the survivors lied and claimed not to remember any of it. The Magnificent Six!
Inferno was present at the battle of Sherman Dam, at least in the version of events that Ratchet later relayed to the Dinobots. Decepticon Dam-Busters! Later, when fellow Autobot Tracks went missing for over a week following a reconnaissance mission, Inferno led Hoist and Grapple in tracking him down to New York City. They found their disabled comrade being used as a getaway vehicle for a couple of hoodlums, and moved in to retrieve him during a bank robbery. Then, a bomb went off inside the bank, destroying its frontage and setting the rest of it aflame. Snapping to action, the Autobots prevented the building from collapsing while rescuing the humans trapped within. Nearly all made it out safely, but a boy still remained inside. Inferno was the one to head into the blaze, retrieving the boy and using his heat-resistant body to keep him from harm. With human authorities able to tidy up the situation afterwards, Inferno and the others returned to Oregon so Tracks could be restored to full vitality. Missing in Action

A licky boom-boom down
Inferno joined Sandstorm and Broadside as part of an Advance Surveillance Unit stationed on Earth to keep watch for the threat of super-Decepticon, Galvatron. Shortly after they arrived, the unit chased off the unrelated threat of a Furnacian Firebug, who had arrived on Earth and begun starting fires in human settlements. Capturing the diminutive beast, they exiled it to Mercury in a message pod. Firebug! During Christmas 1988, the Advance Surveillance Unit tried to join in the celebrations at the town of Border Flats but only managed to panic the humans and damage some buildings in the process. They were tracked down by the newly arrived Autobot Powermasters, who attacked them thinking they were dealing with Decepticon troublemakers. Once the matter was cleared up, Inferno and his teammates apologized for the trouble they had caused. As the Autobots settled down, Optimus Prime joined them to impart on Inferno and the rest about their responsibility to the planet. Cold Comfort and Joy!
When Galvatron later resurfaced, the reconnaissance team sent a message to Cybertron and joined up with the Wreckers and Decepticon Mayhem Attack Squad in confronting the time traveler. Unfortunately Galvatron had help (as if he needed it) in the form of Megatron. The Wreckers and Mayhems were torn to shreds, suffering greater than 50% losses. Time Wars Inferno was one of the few survivors who limped away from the final battle, cut off from any support from Cybertron. He, Springer, and Broadside were approached by the remaining members of the Mayhem Attack Squad, who felt equally deserted by their own faction. One of their members, Snarler, still felt that joining forces with the Autobots constituted treason however, and Inferno was forced to de-escalate a confrontation between Broadside and the Decepticon Pretender in order to prevent a fight from breaking out.

All talks of alliances were then postponed when Inferno detected a procession of emergency vehicles passing by; the Autobots went to investigate while the Decepticons hung back. The source of the disturbance turned out to be Skids, recently escaped from Limbo. While in the nether-dimension, Skids had dreamed up several horrors, who materialized into reality upon his return to Earth. He was ready to trigger a nuclear meltdown to eradicate them, but the other Autobots talked him out of it, and fought by his side against the monsters. The Autobots were hesitant to use lethal force however, fearing that destroying the monsters would somehow kill Skids. Losing ground, Springer wound up calling on the Decepticons for help, and together they defeated the monsters. Better yet, their destruction had no effect on Skids after all! Banded together, Broadside, Inferno, Springer, Skids, Catilla, and Carnivac rebranded themselves as the "Survivors," and began operating on Earth separately from the planet's active Cybertronian armies. Survivors!

Some time later, Inferno stood by as Carnivac and Springer fought, watching as the Decepticon quit the Survivors to strike out on his own. Way of the Warrior When Catilla likewise left to help Carnivac against a new squad of Mayhems come to Earth to execute their treacherous former members, Springer looked to Inferno and the others to tell him he had made the right decision in not getting involved. Survival Run Inevitably, they went to the assistance of the two Pretender Beasts, but just too late to prevent Bludgeon from killing Catilla. A Savage Place!
Inferno was present when Prowl and Grimlock were loading up their shuttles to go chase after Bludgeon and his gang of less-than-merry men. A Savage Circle Unfortunately, the Autobots wound up stumbling into an ambush immediately upon making landfall on Klo. Inferno was killed in battle, but then reactivated by the power of the Last Autobot, who helped Optimus Prime and the surviving Autobots turn the tide. End of the Road!
Earthforce

After Carnivac ran off on his own to seek vengeance against the Mayhems, Inferno and the remaining Survivors insisted that Springer risk contacting Grimlock's Earthforce in order to provide the Pretender some proper back-up. Wolf in the Fold! Though it took some convincing, Grimlock acquiesced and lent several soldiers to help in the rescue attempt. Inferno helped storm the beach where the Mayhems were holed up, the confrontation ending with Bludgeon, Stranglehold, and Octopunch in Autobot custody, and Carnivac safe once more. Afterwards, the Survivors chose to stick around with Earthforce full-time as an adjunct unit. Where Wolf?
Later on, the Earth-based Decepticons under Starscream and Soundwave attempted to divide the Autobots' attention, staging a full-scale assault on Earthbase while Starscream secured a tanker full of fuel in the meantime. While the main Earthforce defended their base, however, the Survivors fought back Starscream's energy-stealing attempt. Inferno punched Starscream overboard, sending him into the drink, and convincing him that it was better to cut and run rather than follow through with the attempted hijacking. Divide and Conquer!

Later, Inferno was standing guard over the Mayhems they had captured when the Survivors first joined with Earthforce. Bludgeon, Octopunch and Stranglehold were being model prisoners. Very quiet... too quiet. As Inferno began to get unnerved by the silence, Stranglehold suddenly began pounding away at the floor like a madman, tearing it up while still they all remained totally silent. Not quite sure what else to do, Inferno turned off the energy bars and entered the cell to blast the prisoner with a pacifier ray. As soon as he did, though, Bludgeon's katana shot through his backside, summoned mentally from the storage room by its master's Metallikato discipline. Inferno blacked out as the three Pretenders casually sauntered out of their cell to freedom. Shut Up!
In 1990, Optimus unwittingly reunited the surviving members of the Magnificent Six for a mission to the Acid Wastes. He suspected the Underbase's ruins still held a connection to Cybertron's core, which they could tap into to defeat Unicron. Despite the mission's urgency, Inferno and the others made excuses to be excluded from it. Optimus was bewildered by this apparent display of cowardice, and sent them forth anyways, with Silverbolt along to round out the team.
As the surviving members of the Magnificent Six traveled into the wastes, they found themselves overcome by their traumatic memories. Though Silverbolt prodded them along best he could, the group became completely paralyzed upon reaching the remnants of Yuss. They were thus incapable of fighting back when they were accosted by a swarm of mutated mechs, survivors of the Neutronic holocaust that they had once failed to prevent. But another ghost from their past held even greater sway over them: Megadeath had survived as well, and took the group captive once more! Having since realized in that his teammates were plagued by past trauma, Silverbolt sought to shock Inferno and the others back to their senses through ridicule, calling the five "the Autobots' resident losers." This riled them enough for the truth of what had transpired in Yuss to finally come out. Silverbolt convinced his comrades that they were stronger than they thought, and the group's confidence slowly returned. With hate and cold fury driving them, Inferno, Jazz, Prowl, Sunstreaker, and Wheeljack confronted Megadeath while Silverbolt saw to the mutated neutralists being freed from his control. Inferno's group battered down their former torturer, but stopped short of delivering a killing blow. However, Megadeath would rather kill himself, while taking the Autobots with him, than admit defeat; he breached his own nuclear core, beginning a destructive chain reaction. The Autobots fled to once more avoid annihilation.
Having found closure, the Autobots continued on with their mission, and reached the former site of the Underbase with the neutralists in tow. The Magnificent Six!

In the alternate version of 2008, after Unicron's attack on Cybertron, Inferno and his good friend Smokescreen discovered Unicron's continued existence on the planet Junk, where he had enslaved the Junkions into rebuilding his body. Retreating to their ship to make contact with the rest of the Autobots, they ran afoul of the brainwashed Death's Head. Inferno was badly injured, but with their shuttle under attack by Cyclonus and Scourge in the skies over Cybertron, he was forced to hurl Smokescreen to safety through the front windscreen, so word of Unicron's survival could reach Rodimus Prime. Inferno's last act was to go out in a blaze of glory, crashing straight into the Decepticon ranks in the battle below. The Legacy of Unicron!
Rhythms of Darkness!

In an alternate timeline, Inferno was one of seven remaining Autobots on Earth in the year 2009, fighting against Decepticon domination of the American continents. Together with Spike and Lisa, his team undertook a desperate mission to show the rest of the world that America was still resisting the Decepticons' rule. Failure to do so meant the governments of the remaining free nations would launch nuclear weapons and scorch the continent off the map, in a bid to eliminate the Decepticons themselves. After Crossblades sacrificed himself to bring down the forcefield surrounding Galvatron's fortress, Inferno was among those in the group that stormed the installation. Spike successfully unfurled an American flag atop the base's tallest spire, staying the rest of the world's hands. Then in a lucky break, Galvatron was whisked away to another timeline. Having survived the battle, Inferno was last seen as one of the three Autobots fighting against greater odds heroically, for all our freedoms. Rhythms of Darkness!

Regeneration One

Sometime around 2007, Inferno was amongst those suffering ill effects from the infusion of Nucleon into their systems. It had apparently left him unable to control his body temperature as he was glowing red-hot and surrounded by cooling systems in "The Nursery". Natural Selection, Part One Five years later as the Dinobots were confronting their errant leader Grimlock in The Nursery, they were all ambushed by the resurrected Scorponok's troops Dreadwind, Darkwing, and the Gene Key-turned Brainstorm and Hardhead, so Grimlock fired at Inferno's containment system. As it ruptured, Inferno was unable to control his internal combustion and the resultant explosion took down the Powermasters and former Headmasters, saving the Dinobots. Thankfully, Hosehead was nearby and managed to bring Inferno's temperature down to a more manageable level. Natural Selection, Part Four
Reformatted into a new Nucleon-free body through technology Grimlock acquired from Scorponok, Inferno first assisted Prowl and the Wreckers in providing crowd control at Eugenesis Plaza, though when Spinister and Needlenose stirred things up, the crowd quickly turned ugly. Destiny, Part One Prowl then insisted that Inferno and the other Autobots who received new bodies should remain at "The Garage" until they were fully tested, but when Blaster managed to hack into Soundwave's communications network, the Neo-Decepticon commander sent the Mayhem Attack Squad after them. Inferno, Blaster, Silverbolt, and Huffer managed to defeat the Pretenders Roadblock, Snarler, and Carnivac, though when Carnivac surprised Silverbolt and doused him in napalm Inferno only just managed to put him out in time. Earthquake

In one possible sequence of events, Beachcomber, Windcharger and Powerglide uncovered a Decepticon ploy to destroy Center City. When splitting up the Autobot forces to combat the Decepticons on two fronts, one at their headquarters and the other at Center City, Optimus assigned Inferno to a different team depending on the circumstances that followed.
If Inferno and the lead team were sent to the Decepticons’ fortress, Optimus was able to overpower Megatron in the battle that ensued. Optimus forced the Decepticon leader to guide Beachcomber, Inferno and himself to the Decepticons’ lab. There, the Autobots disabled and destroyed the Destruction Beam device, captured Megatron, and left many Decepticons permanently maimed. Though they later traded Megatron back to the Decepticons for the safe release of the Autobots captured in Center City, the Autobots were ultimately victorious that day.
If Inferno and the lead team were sent to defend Center City, the Autobots picked up Sparkplug en route to better communicate with the humans. Inferno bemoaned that the Autobots’ robots forms were frightening to most humans.
If Sparkplug suggested that the Autobots not worry about subtlety, the entire squad transformed and began prowling the streets in search of Decepticons. As Inferno predicted, the humans began panicking as the Autobots combed the streets for Decepticons. Unable to re-establish order, the Autobots were unsuccessful in halting the Decepticons’ scheme, and were destroyed in the ensuing earthquake.
If Sparkplug suggested that the Autobots remain in their vehicle modes, he would concoct a plan where the Autobots would evacuate the entire town in their vehicle modes. With no more than four trips in and out of the city, Inferno and the rest of the team carried out the plan without incident.
If Inferno and the secondary team were sent to the Decepticons’ fortress, the squadron of Autobots were able to infiltrate the fortress stealthily and discovered the Decepticons’ lab. In one version of the following events, Inferno was able to recall the Destruction Beam to its source, destroying the Decepticons and their base as the squadron drove back to Autobot headquarters.
In another version of these events, Megatron called his troops to him so that they could all partake in Cosmos’s dismemberment. Before the Decepticons were abe to begin, Cosmos spotted the secondary team hiding nearby. Surrounding the Decepticons, despite the secondary team engaged their enemies. Though the Autobots defeated the Decepticons, they were unable to interfere with the Destruction beam. The Destruction beam then reached its target, and Center City was destroyed. Though the Autobots were able to gain control of the Decepticon fortress and destroy the lab, they were not able to wipe out all of the evil robots, and enjoyed a pyrrhic victory at best. Earthquake

During a Decepticon attack on a major human city, Ratchet, Inferno, and the Protectobots launched rescue operations. Unfortunately their efforts were hampered by Thundercracker and Dirge, who unleashed all manner of sonic attacks on them. To the Rescue Inferno was among the Autobots who came to the aid of Ratchet, after the medic was fused to Megatron and then came under attack from a time-displaced Galvatron. Savage Circle
Transformers: Battle Tactics

Inferno (G1) participated in battles against a variety of opponents, both Autobots and Decepticons. Sometimes there were many of him! He was an Epic character available as a reward to 50 leagues in the "Disaster: Code Blue“ event. Transformers: Battle Tactics
Toys
Generation 1

- Inferno (Autobot Car, 1985)
- Japanese ID number: 10
- Accessories: "Extinguisher Rifle", 2 fists (left & right), 3 missiles, 2 hose nozzles
- Inferno transforms into a Japanese Mitsubishi Fuso F-Series FT fire ladder truck. His ladder has three sections to it, allowing it to extend to a really impressive length. Each of his forearms contains a spring-loaded missile launcher, so he can fire his own fists or silver missiles, though the Hasbro versions have these launchers severely weakened for safety reasons. He is usually depicted in media as having a missile/laser/nozzle in place of a hand on his right arm. He is also armed with a small black Extinguisher rifle.
- Inferno's toy has been reissued as part of the Classic Heroes line in 1990, the Generation 2 line in 1993, and The Transformers Collection and the Commemorative Series in 2003. See below for individual entries on these releases.
- This sculpt was redecoed and partially retooled to make Grapple, the e-HOBBY exclusive Collector's Edition RoadHauler and The Headmasters Artfire.

- Inferno with Hydro-Pack (Action Master, 1990)
- Accessories: Hydro-Pack, "Magna-Blast Gun"
- Part of the third assortment of "basic" carded Action Masters, Inferno is a non-transforming action figure with a simplified design, based loosely on his cartoon animation model. Inferno came with a Hydro-Pack that could be attached to his back (with a "hose" that flipped over his shoulder to attach to his handgun, a feature unique among Action Master "partner" accessories), or transformed via spring-loaded mechanism into a large cannon, with a barrel that could be further extended by attaching his handgun to the very end of it. He is compatible with all other Action Master weapons and vehicles.
- Classic Inferno (Classic Heroes, 1990)
- Accessories: "Extinguisher Rifle", 2 fists (left & right), 3 missiles, 2 hose nozzles
- The original Inferno toy was first reissued in Europe in 1990 alongside several other early Transformers, as part of the "Classic Heroes" range.
Generation 2

- Inferno (Autobot Hero, 1993)
- Accessories: "Extinguisher Rifle", water cannon, 2 fists (left & right), 2 head nozzles
- For Generation 2, Inferno's original toy was re-used with virtually no deco changes, adding only the "Autobot" tampograph. His forearms were retooled to remove the spring-loaded launcher mechanism (the chromed missiles from the original releases were also dropped), his detachable fists were also re-tooled in order for them to fit snuggly in the connecting hole of the forearms and the wing extensions on his shoulders were also slightly retooled. He came with a large red water-shooting cannon that clipped to his ladder. Said cannon rains pain.
The Transformers Collection
- Inferno (2003)
- Japanese ID number: TFC-08
- Accessories: "Extinguisher Rifle", 2 fists (left & right), 3 missiles, 2 hose nozzles
- In 2003, the original Inferno toy was reissued as part of Takara's "The Transformers Collection" series. This time he featured a tampographed Autobot symbol and blue instead of yellow eyes. These changes carried over to Commemorative Series Inferno (see below), Commemorative Series Autobot Grapple and Collector's Edition RoadHauler.
Commemorative Series
- Inferno (Commemorative Series V, 2003/2006)
- Accessories: "Extinguisher Rifle", 2 fists (left & right), 3 missiles, 2 hose nozzles

- The same year as the Takara reissue, Hasbro released their own reissue of Inferno as part of the Toys"R"Us exclusive "Commemorative Series" line in the United States, Canada and Australia. Unlike the Takara version, the Hasbro version no longer featured launching fists or missiles for safety reasons. This reissue comes with an additional Autobot insignia decal, depicting the more modern long-faced version of the Autobot insignia. According to the instructions, this sticker is supposed to be placed on top of the Autobot insignia sticker that is already on Inferno's chest!
- In 2006, three years after the U.S. release and long after the Commemorative Series had been discontinued by Toys"R"Us in America, Inferno and several other figures were released as Toys"R"Us exclusives in the United Kingdom. Unlike previous UK releases of Commemorative Series figures, the packaging for this batch was no longer multilingual, but in English only. Despite this, the packaging was not identical to the previous U.S. version; it lacked the "Commemorative Series" labels, the "choking hazard" safety warning labels and all trademark ™ and ® markings, and moved the "Ages 5+" recommendation to a new position.
Universe (2008)

- Inferno (Voyager, 2009)
- Series: Generation 2 Series
- Accessories: "Water Blast" projectile
- "Generation 2 series" Universe Inferno is the first all-new tooling for the Voyager class price point in the Universe line. Unlike the original toy, Universe Inferno transforms into an American pumper/tanker fire truck, rather than the Generation 1's Japanese Hino ladder engine. In lieu of a ladder, he packs a water cannon with spring-loaded projectile, a call-back to Generation 2 Inferno's working water cannon.
- This version of Inferno transforms into a fictional six-wheeled variant of the 2002–2007 Pierce Contender series of firetrucks. It appears to be a fusion of two different designs from that period. See: Pierce Manufacturing
- The number "401" tampographed onto him is the area code for the state of Rhode Island, home of Hasbro's headquarters.
- This sculpt was also used to make Timelines Spark, and was retooled to make Transformers (2010) Solar Storm Grappel and Generations Protectobot Hot Spot, and Grappel himself was later redecoed into Transformers (2014) Protectobot Hot Spot. It was then redecoed into United Artfire, using tooling from both the original Inferno version and the newer Grappel version of this sculpt.

Henkei! Henkei!

- Cybertron Inferno (Voyager, 2009-02-26)
- Japanese ID number: C-15
- Accessories: "Water Blast" projectile
- Henkei! Henkei! Inferno differs from Universe Inferno mainly in the red plastic used: whereas Universe Inferno has a darker shade of red, Henkei Inferno is considerably brighter. The dark brown plastic used for several parts on Universe Inferno has been changed to gray. The black parts on Universe Inferno are now dark blue and the colorless clear plastic used for his eyes is actually molded in clear blue plastic (rather than being painted over clear blue). Major paint application changes include chroming Inferno's water cannon, forearm panels, and the backs of his shoulder panels. Aside from the chrome he also has the addition of yellow highlights to his head, clear-red painted sirens, and the removal of the Rhode Island "401" area code.

Speed Stars
Stealth Force

- Autobot Inferno (Stealth Force Deluxe, 2010)
- Accessories: 2 projectiles
- Speed Stars Inferno is a new non-transformable mold, appearing as a much more traditional looking fire truck than any of his previous toys but retaining the "401" tampograph that his Universe toy had. His packaging also depicts his Universe toy's robot head. At the press of a button, he can deploy his weapons located on top, at the side and the front of his vehicle mode while pulling a tab hides the weapons again.
- Included in the package are two water-burst missiles. However, they can only be stored in and fired from his top-mounted cannon one at a time.
Kre-O

- Inferno (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2012)
- Bag number: 22851 41
- Accessories: Logo brick, wrist-blaster
- Part of the first normal wave of Micro-Changer Kreons, Inferno is a blindpacked-bagged mini-figure, though a stamped ID number can be found on the back of the bag, top-right corner. He comes with extra bits to turn him into something that might be described as a fire engine.
- He uses Sentinel Prime's helmet... which was patterned after the original Inferno in the first place.
- Kreon Class of 1985 (Kreon figure set, 2015)
- Accessories: Scoped pistol
- Voted "Class Hottie" by the Kreon Class of '85, this version of Inferno features a deco much more accurate to the original 1985 toy. Like the rest of the set, he uses the updated, almost-totally-retooled 2015 style Kreon body.
- Inferno (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2016)
- Collection: 1
- Accessories: Logo plate, wrist-blaster
- In 2016, Collection 1 was re-released in a whole new production run for Dollar General stores in the US as part of a large collection of re-released Kre-O sets. But where most of these releases are nigh-identical to the originals, the re-released Micro-Changer blind-bags use the almost-entirely-retooled 2015 Kreon, with slightly-differently-hued plastics than the originals. (It is possible for some of the add-on pieces to be in the older hues.) Inferno's torso and face tampographs have also been reworked to be slightly more detailed, and the formerly-bare legs now have extra detail tampographing on them. The 1x1 top-clip piece is also slightly different from the original, with a much lower-set clip.
- Sadly, this release has no individual-identification code on the bag, requiring you to use the feel-through-the-bag method or just buy blind and hope.
Bot Shots

- Inferno (2013)
- Series: 2
- Number: B011
- Fist strength: 186
- Blaster strength: 580
- Sword strength: 848
- Part of the third wave of Bot Shots Series 2 single-packs, Blitz Shot Inferno is a redeco of Series 1 Sentinel Prime, transforming into a firetruck with an automatic, spring-loaded transformation to robot mode triggered when his front bumper is pressed. He has an "spinner" in his chest that shows his three attack types and power levels.
Masterpiece

- Inferno (2016-11-26)
- ID number: MP-33
- Accessories: Three faces, two heads, chromed hand blaster, white hand blaster, chrome-grilled chest, two gray-grilled chests, sticker sheet, water spray, fire hose, blaster and two communication radar dishes, die-cast Optimus Prime figure (Asian preorder only)
- Masterpiece Inferno represents his cartoon model very well—right down to his disappearing ladder in robot mode—while still maintaining the Masterpiece level of detail. He comes with two heads—based on the two separate head designs he featured in the Generation 1 cartoon, see Notes below for details—and three swappable faces: default, angry, and smiling. He also comes with three chest pieces: one based on his original toy with a detailed, chromed grill and standard Autobot symbol; one with the simplified, non-chromed grill and symbol designs from the cartoon; and one with clear supports attached to it so that Inferno can recreate the scene from "Auto Berserk" of him carrying Red Alert in his arms. His wrist-barrel/blaster comes in both chromed and unchromed form, to match whichever chestpiece you have attached, and he includes a gushing water-spray effect piece that can plug into either barrel, or his fire truck mode's ladder. He also comes with the robotic hose Lord Chumley attacked him with in the episode "Prime Target", as well as two removable, forearm-mounted communicators, which appeared in the same episode. He also includes a selection of optional stickers, including standard and cartoon-accurate Autobot logos, and four "fire department" stickers, bearing a similar appearance to the symbol seen on MP-14 Red Alert. Strangely, the sticker sheet which indicates his role as "Cybertron Search & Rescue" has the word "search" misspelled.
- If preordered in Asian countries outside of Japan, he also comes with a non-transforming die-cast Optimus Prime minifigure.
- This mold was also used to make Grapple.
Merchandise
Transformers Gum
- Inferno (1985)
- Accessories: "Extinguisher Rifle", 2 fists (left & right)
- Essentially a downsized version of the original Inferno toy, the Transformers Gum kit is sculpted from black, red and white plastic, features stickers rather than paint applications for details, and came with a stick of gum.
Decoy
- Cybertron Hero Collection 9 (multi-pack, 1986)
- Inferno (1987)
- Decoy number: 14
- The figurine was later brought over to Hasbro markets as part of the Decoy promotion, largely identical to the Japanese release except for the fact that the number on his back was replaced with a simple "checklist" number. Like all Autobot Decoys, he was a randomly-chosen pack-in available with the carded Throttlebots, Aerialbots, Protectobots, and Technobots.
3D Battle-Card Game

- Inferno (2007)
- A 36-point "rare" character in the 3D Battle-Card Game's "Energon Wars" expansion, Inferno "transforms" into a red fire truck. He uses the same parts layout as Movie Bonecrusher, Movie Longarm, and "Classic Bonecrusher", albeit with some parts moved around to make him more fire truck-like.
Transformers Gum

- Inferno (2011)
- Released in the fourth wave of the revived Transformers Gum series in 2011, this transforming model kit of Inferno is made from red and black plastic, with stickers for detail. It's based on the Henkei Inferno toy. He comes with the base (and accompanying stickers) of the trailer for Rodimus Prime.
Notes
- Following the lead of his toy, which could swap its fists out of for projectile rockets, Inferno's bio describes how he can shoot missiles out of his forearms. His character model, however, was drawn based on an image of the toy with a missile loaded into his right wrist, resulting in a permanently one-handed Inferno, and further, reminagined it not as a missile, but as a cylindrical barrel. Consequently, in most fiction, it was used as either an ordinary gun (similar to Shockwave's), or a nozzle through which Inferno could spray fire-retardant.

- The rear view of Inferno's character model was designed without the toy for reference, and since it was not visible on his front-facing model, omits the ladder that ought to run down his back.
- In both the original commercial advertising the new 1985 Autobot cars, and in all episodes animated by the unknown Generation 1 animation studios, Inferno appears with an early head design based on how his noggin appears in his full-body character model, more rounded and simplified, and lacking any facial definition lines, compared to the more toy-accurate head he normally appeared with in the series. This rounded design also goes hand-in-hand with an early color model which colors the centre of his "mohawk" orange (like his other two head-crests), and his head fins white, compared to the off-white of his other body parts. The more common design colors the mohawk's centre black, and the fins a slightly darker off-white compared to his other parts.
- Inferno was originally intended to appear in The Transformers: The Movie, helping to cover Ultra Magnus and the rest of the main cast as they made a break for the shuttles when Galvatron's forces attacked Autobot City, but was cut from the finished feature. Actor Walker Edmiston recorded a single line for the character—"Good luck, Magnus"—and so remained listed in the movie's credits, despite Inferno's absence.

- Inferno's original toy, slightly modified, was knocked off and used as the title giant robot in the Korean animated film Phoenix King (피닉스킹). Phoenix King was dubbed (horribly) and released in America by Digiview Entertainment as Defenders of Space, generally selling for the bargain price of $1.00. Scenes of "Inferno" from this movie were also incorporated into another bargain film distributed by Digiview Entertainment, Space Thunder Kids.
- A 1986 Panini stickerbook sold in Belgium and the Netherlands gave Inferno the alternate French language name "Infernal". Whether this name was used in any other media made for French-speaking regions is unknown.
- The earliest pictured version of Action Master Inferno is largely different from the final version, but only upon close examination. The early version errs on the side of the original toy in color and design, while the final more closely follows the design of the animation model. Strangely, the early version has a nearly solid black block of a head (possibly to echo the ladder base in which the original's head was contained), as well as generally wider and chunky proportions.
