Sunstreaker was released as part of the first year of the Transformers line in the US, transforming into a "Super Tuning" customized Lamborghini Countach LP500S with an exposed rear-mounted engine. Each robot mode arm has a spring-launching mechanism to fire his fists, his chrome missiles, or his "rocket boosters" (once the boosters' main body was pushed forward to lengthen the connection peg), but the springs were severely neutered or removed outright in the US for safety reasons. The boosters fit very very loosely in the holes in his rear bumper/robot shoulders, making them pretty dubious additions to either mode.

As with all his 1984 brethren, a heat-activated rubsign was added to Sunstreaker in 1985, appearing on his left door. Removed from toystore shelves in 1986, he was then made available as a mail-away item in several different promotions, among them a "Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction" flier packed with most boxed Transformers toys. He cost $8 and two robot points.

When Hasbro released the original Transformers toys in continental Europe through then-recently-acquired Milton Bradley in 1985, several toys were actually pre-existing stock originally intended for Joustra's version of Diaclone acquired by Hasbro and put into MB-branded Transformers packaging. For some reason, the Sunstreaker toy (sporting its yellow Hasbro Transformers colors due to being produced during the Diaclone/Transformers transitional period) was released in packaging intended for Sideswipe, an entirely different sculpt. The packaging even included Sideswipe's instructions and sticker sheet, neither of which were of much use for the toy.

Sunstreaker inherited some red sticker details from the original red-colored Diaclone version of the toy (see notes): most obviously the shoulder stickers, but more subtly the vents on his chest stickers (numbered "1" in the instructions). The instructions show these being placed on the wrong sides; the red vents are supposed to show through from beneath the exposed engine in vehicle mode. Also, the engine sticker (numbered #3 in the instructions) was reversed. The Diaclone instruction shows that the proper placement is to apply it with the rainbow graphics facing the back. However, Sunstreaker omits the headlight stickers from the Diaclone release, leading many owners to misinterpret the small black rectangles that continue the stripe past his front wheels in vehicle mode as being headlights—our photo on the right is one such example!

Sunstreaker is generally considered to be one of the harder early-generation toys to find complete and unbroken. Following its later reissue in the European Classics sub-line (see below), the toy's mold has been stated by Hasbro and Takara representatives to be one of several whose original molding is either lost or in a state of disrepair too extensive to justify the cost of re-casting, meaning that chances of any future reissues are slim.

The stock photography on the box shows a prototype; you can tell because the tabs on the arms/launchers are red, as opposed to yellow on the actual toy.

• Sunstreaker & Skids vs Buzzsaw (Multi-pack, 1985)

Sunstreaker's only Takara release was in this giftset, which was also the only way to get Buzzsaw and Skids in Japan. This sounds unfair, but then one must remember Buzzsaw is an unstoppable killing machine.

Sunstreaker was made available again in European markets in 1990, coming in nice new golden packaging as part of the "Classic Heroes" range of reissues. He featured no notable changes from his original release, complete with a lack of rubsign.

Transform Block

• Sunstreaker (1985)

Only available in Japan, this small, monochrome representation of Sunstreaker transformed by disassembling and reassembling his vinyl component parts. Hence, the name "Transform Block". The toy was first released as part of the Diaclone line alongside another toy representing the Diaclone version of Skids. The toy was simply put in new packaging for its Transformers release, which resembles that of Transform Jr toys.

Universe (2003)

Sideswipe in yellow? Dear Primus, I've become Tigertrack!

A retool of the 2001 Robots in Disguise Prowl sculpt, Universe Sunstreaker transforms into a Lamborghini Diablo; the roof-mounted police lights from the original mold were removed, leaving this area bare. Unusually for non-vintage Transformers at the time, he has rubber tires. In either mode, he is armed with two pressure-launch missile launchers with two flame-shaped projectiles. These launchers are mounted upon his right arm in robot mode. In vehicle mode, they can be mounted on two pegs located on his spoiler as "rocket boosters".

It is notable that the part that connects the toy's windshield to the main body uses a yellow decal rather than paint, as that part is made out of unpaintable plastic.

Sunstreaker was the "hotel exclusive" toy at OTFCC 2003, available only to those who booked their room at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare at the convention rate, the official hotel for the convention, with one toy per night booked, capped at two toys. Unfortunately, he and mold-mate fellow convention exclusive Sideswipe often had the wrong missiles packed in their boxes: Sunstreaker is supposed to have blue and white flames, Sideswipe yellow and white. Lot of part trading going on over that weekend.

This mold was also used to make the Universe incarnation of Beast Wars Inferno.

Binaltech Asterisk

In 2005, Takara and Hasbro released near-simultaneous and significantly different takes on Sunstreaker as a redeco of the Alternators/Binaltech Dead End Binaltech/Alternators toy (itself a retool of Binaltech Lambor/Alternators Side Swipe). The first to the market was the Binaltech Asterisk version of the toy, including a PVC driver figurine, a girl named Junko. Sunstreaker transforms into a 1:24-scale licensed "street performance" Dodge Viper with opening doors and hood, and an open passengers' compartment. His engine block becomes a rifle for his robot mode. Like the rest of the Binaltech Asterisk line, he was packaged in robot mode instead of vehicle.

As a matter of fact, Sunstreaker was originally intended as the first retool/redeco of Lambor/Side Swipe: Early prototypes that were leaked to the public sported a sculpted Autobot logo, and development concept art and color maps detailed in The Transformers: Binaltech & TF Collection Complete Guide show a black-decoed figure. A store listing from March 2004 stated the figure's name as "Blackstreaker", suggesting that he was still intended to be Sunstreaker despite sporting different colors, possibly at the request of the car manufacturer. For reasons unknown, however, the toy was ultimately released as the Decepticon Dead End instead, possibly to satisfy fan demands for Decepticons in the line, but this is mere supposition. It took more than a year until Sunstreaker would see shelves as originally intended.

A few months after the release of Binaltech Asterisk Sunstreaker, the Hasbro Alternators version was released as part of the standard retail line, in the redesigned "bubble" packaging (the third version of Alternators packaging). Though both are yellow redecos of the mold, the detailing between the two is very different, with the Hasbro version sharing many paint masks used for Dead End, adding red to the robot mode parts, as well as a pair of black racing stripes in car mode. Drastically put, the only two details virtually identical on both versions at first sight are the paint mask for the head and the tampographed license plate. (This is particularly remarkable since a stolen pre-production sample of Hasbro Sunstreaker actually sported a license plate tampograph more in style with previous Alternators license plates, whereas the final version is dead on identical to the Binaltech Asterisk toy's tampo.)

Universe (2008)

He's got Mirage's legs, and he knows how to use 'em better than Mirage does.

Part of the first wave of 2008 Universe Deluxe Class toys, Sunstreaker transforms into a modified Lamborghini Gallardo (featuring a rear end that is basically a cross between a Murciélago and a Diablo, split side windows and door vents from the McLaren F1). Like the original Sunstreaker's Lamborghini Countach form, the 2008 Universe vehicle mode features customized engine supercharger intakes mounted just behind the roof of the car. Sunstreaker's license plate is tampographed "WE R 84", referring to the year the Transformers franchise was launched. (Early Hasbro prototypes of Universe Sunstreaker had the license plate say "WE R 82" instead.)

One of the cases where the result turned out even better than the original idea. Well, except maybe for the weapon.

Like many other new-sculpt Universe toys, Sunstreaker has a "dramatic head reveal" when transforming him to robot mode: when his chest is rotated into place, his head rises into position and his ears spring out. In robot mode, his supercharger engine accessory can be attached to his back, but it can also be attached to the "Electron Pulse Blaster" to create a larger weapon by wrapping the intakes around it, and the gun can be mounted in either of the holes on his shoulders, though Sunstreaker's "ears" get in the way. Most of this is not shown in the instructions, which only instruct the owner of the toy to put the gun in his hand and attach the supercharger to his back.

Though not specifically a quality control issue, the yellow paint used for Sunstreaker's roof does not precisely match the bright yellow plastic used for his car body panel parts. The dark tinted windows cause the yellow paint to take on a greenish tinge.

Sunstreaker uses the same base mold as Universe Sideswipe, but with his robot mode turned 180 degrees at the waist, and factory-swapped fists. Hasbro's early plans for Sunstreaker and Sideswipe had the two as straight redeco/retools of each other using the hood-chest configuration. TakaraTomy designer Hisashi Yuki suggested turning the upper body 180 degrees, making Sunstreaker's robot mode resemble his Generation 1 design more. Based on the release order, Sunstreaker is considered the original iteration of the sculpt and Sideswipe the retool, even though the two were designed concurrently. In addition, Hasbro originally intended the alternate mode's supercharger to split into two halves which would then become the handgun and a spring-loaded shoulder launcher for the robot mode.

Released in the fifth wave of TakaraTomy's Henkei! Henkei! toys, this version of Universe Sunstreaker is a redeco of Hasbro's release, featuring a deeper shade of yellow with a much greater consistency between the painted yellow roof and the yellow plastic. He also replaces some of the Universe figure's gray paint with black. The orange paint is replaced with red, and the maroon Autobot symbol is now the more standard red.

Like all Henkei! Henkei! toys, he features vacuum metallized plastic, including his Electron Pulse Blaster, his supercharger and his spoiler.

Kre-O

I'm a better mechanic than him.

• Sunstreaker (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2014)

Part of the sixth regular assortment of blind-bagged Kre-O Micro-Changers, Sunstreaker is a Kreon minifigure that can be rebuilt into a race car with back-mounted "engine". While clearly based on the Generation 1 character, the details of his deco are much more based on the stylings of the live-action movie series and Prime. He sports Wheeljack's helmet.

Unlike prior Micro-Changer assortments, this series does not have any sort identification code for the bags' actual contents, meaning you'd best be good at the feel-though-the-bag method.

This assortment was originally slated to be a Toys"R"Us exclusive, but US stores dropped the line before its release. It was still available in Canada, Australia and Chinese/Asian markets. In 2015, the Collection appeared in US Dollar Tree stores, with a price tag of a whopping $1 a pop. They didn't last long.

This version of Sunstreaker has tampographs based heavily on the original toy. He even has a wrist-blaster to replicate the wrist-rocket of the original box art. His arm-blasters are pointed upwards to simulate the toy's shoulder-rocket-thingies.

He was only available in a San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive pack of 30 Kreons dubbed the "Kreon Class of 1984". Remaining stock was to be sold at Hasbro Toy Shop online, only there was no remaining stock after the show.

Q-Transformers

Part of the third wave of Takara's Q-Transformers toyline, Sunstreaker transforms from a super deformed licensed Mazda RX-7 FD3S to a cute little robot (though his legs, molded to resemble his usual footsies, still evoke a Lamborghini Countach hood).

He comes with a code for unlocking Sunstreaker as a playable character in the Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns game.

This mold was retooled into Q-Transformers Drift.

Combiner Wars

Part of the fourth wave of Combiner Wars Deluxe Class toys, Sunstreaker is a retool of Breakdown sporting a brand new headsculpt. The hand/foot/gun can peg on top of the car mode to form an engine block, and can be either held in his hand or mounted on his back in robot mode via 5 mm posts. His other weapon can be held as either a sword or a gun in robot mode, and can peg into a slot in the side of his vehicle mode.

Being a Combiner Wars figure, Sunstreaker can form a limb for any Combiner Wars-style Voyager figure, but would usually be associated with Optimus Maximus. He is also officially associated with Betatron.

Sunstreaker comes with the comic book "The Onyx Interface Conclusion: The Obliterati". In Canada, Latin America, and Europe, he was available in different types of multilingual packaging including a character card featuring his comic book cover/package art instead. He and the last three waves of Combiner Wars Deluxe and Voyager figures later appeared in the USA at TJ Maxx at reduced prices with the collector card.

As a part of the third and fourth wave promotion in Hasbro's Asian markets, a free sticker sheet for the Protectobots and Optimus Maximus was given out when purchasing any four Deluxe Class toys from those waves. As such, Sunstreaker was given Generation 1 toy-esque stickers for the owner to apply if they wanted.

This mold was differently retooled as Jumpstream, Wheeljack, and Ravage. It also served as the model for the non-toy Spatiotemporal Challengers incarnation of Turbo, and was strongly implied to be used for the Of Masters and Mayhem incarnation of Sideswipe.

Unite Warriors Sunstreaker is a redeco of the Combiner Wars mold with numerous changes in deco to better match his look in the Generation 1 cartoon: His lemony yellow plastic is now replaced with a more orange hue, and his unpaintable joints are also replaced with the same color. The paint operations on the arms and chest panel are swapped, with additional black paint added on the feet. The paint operations on the rocker panels/rear sides & the sword/gun has been removed as well.

He was only available as part of the Convoy Grand Prime set, packed with Convoy, Ironhide, Ligier, and Prowl. This set was exclusive to TakaraTomy Mall, the second of six sets exclusive to the outlet.

Masterpiece Sunstreaker transforms from robot to a licensed Lamborghini Countach LP500S mode, just like his brother Sideswipe, but is of course a completely different mold.

In vehicle mode, the rear electronic propulsion engine cover can be folded into the rear of the car for a more realistic Countach, and the rear combination tail-lights can be switched between realistic and toon modes. The doors and hood open, and the front headlights can be popped up. His spoiler can split in half to deploy a small barrel, the likes he used in More than Meets the Eye, Part 2. Early magazine adverts showed him with a yellow spoiler, but subsequent photos depicted the spoiler in a silver chrome, as found on the released figure.

To preserve cartoon accuracy, the windows on the chest are "fake", however the main panel of the chest is formed by turning the roof of the car mode inside out, with the extra windows folding out from inside.

For accessories, he includes his small Electron Pulse Pun that can be stored inside an opening compartment on his leg (underneath the engine bay in car mode), and a Flare Gun, an exact replica of Sideswipe's rifle he used on the episode "Dinobot Island, Part 2" that can be stored on his backpack. In addition to the standard face, he comes with an additional smiling face and shouting face, and an alien mask from the episode "Hoist Goes Hollywood"—for an additional homage to the episode he can stand on one leg too.

Also included is a Chip Chase minifigure that can be removed from his wheelchair and placed on Sunstreaker's shoulders to recreate the episode "Roll for It". If purchased from a seller supplied by Hasbro Asia, Sunstreaker includes a collector coin, mounted on a folding card that resembles his robot mode chest panel.

This figure was retooled to make MP-42 Cordon and MP-39+ Spin-Out.

War for Cybertron: Earthrise

Better than ever. (Where's my shiny finish, Takara Tomy?)

Part of the third wave of Earthrise Deluxes, Sunstreaker transforms into an unlicensed approximation of a Lamborghini Countach LP500S and shares some engineering with Wheeljack. His engine block can be used as a pair of rocket boosters or as a gun, though his forearms prevent the weapon's peg from fully settling inside his hands. Alternatively, the definitely-not-intended-for-potential-future-spoiler-use 5 mm holes that end up on his forearms in robot mode can accommodate the weapon comfortably.

Similar to his Universe figure, Sunstreaker's chest is actually darker translucent plastic painted yellow. Although the yellow paint does not entirely match the yellow plastic, it is much less conspicuous than the earlier figure. Due to the pegs on the chest underside being painted, it can be very difficult to slot in place for car mode. This can be resolved by lightly sanding the front portions of the pegs until the gap can be cleanly closed.

This mold was also used to make Selects Spin-Out and slightly retooled, with a new chest, into Spin-Out’s two-pack mate, Cordon. Due to COVID-19 supply disruptions, Sunstreaker and his fellow wave 3 Deluxes reached store shelves in Singapore before wave 2 was released.

He comes with a map piece and decoder. Unlike the wave 2 Deluxes, his piece is not misprinted. It is part of Cybertron showing one of the moons. The moon is unlabeled, so which moon it is remains unkown.

Sunstreaker was reissued through Target and Hasbro Pulse at the end of 2025, as his status as a tail-ender made him difficult for many fans to obtain.

Generations Selects

Released as part of the Generations Selects "Autobots Stand United" multi-pack, Sunstreaker is a redeco of the Earthrise Sunstreaker above, in a more cartoon-accurate deco, with brighter yellow plastic and dark-charcoal plastic and paint instead of black. His roof, windshield and side-window parts are now the same opaque yellow plastic as the rest of his body, with light-blue paint for his "glass" portions. He also comes with an extra accessory, a light-gray version of Legacy Elita-1's rifle.

Unlike the mold's original release, Sunstreaker's vehicle mode features two Autobot sigils, one on the car roof in the same manner as the original, and a new one on the car's hood, in an effort to reconcile the sigil's shifting location in the G1 cartoon. Due to the transformation engineering, the second sigil is only visible in the vehicle mode.

This set also includes similarly-more-cartoon-based versions of Hound, Jazz, Trailbreaker, and Wheeljack.

The "Autobots Stand United 5-pack" was officially revealed on February 27, and went up for pre-order the same day for a July 2024 release.

Missing Link

Missing Link Sunstreaker is a direct recreation of the above Generation 1 toy, only this time with mechanical tweaks that give him a much wider range of articulation, including rotation at the neck and elbow, outward leg movement, double-jointed knees, and an ankle tilt. In addition to all the accessories included with the original G1 toy, Sunstreaker comes packed in with a new rifle matching his brother Sideswipe's, and a teeny-tiny Dianaut figure based on Spike Witwicky, which can sit in Sunstreaker's driver seat. Most of Sunstreaker's original sticker detailing is now sculpted in and picked out using metallic paint operations, including for the very first time the headlights from the original Diaclone release, but he also includes a sticker sheet with various options: the original release's "COUNTACH" spoiler sticker has been removed (as this toy lacks a license from Lamborghini) and swapped for a second set of shoulder stickers, to replace his erroneous red shoulder coloration with the originally-intended yellow, while the waist sticker has been updated to include the "CAR ROBO" text from the Diaclone release.

A prototype of Missing Link Sunstreaker was unveiled at TakaraTomy's 40th Anniversary expo, and he later went up for pre-order in December 2024 for a June 2025 release.

This figure was also retooled into Sunstreaker's wavemate, Missing Link Cordon. In a crazy bit of attention to detail, the sticker detail under Sunstreaker's engine block has been sculpted to match the incorrect, flipped orientation of his original Transformers release, while Cordon flips the detailing back to match the original Diaclone toy.

Fresh off the heel of the Earthrise version getting reissued just months prior, Generations Selects Sunstreaker was also re‑released as a package refresh in the 31st wave of Studio Series Deluxes, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie.

Unlike his wavemate and fellow package refresh Wheeljack, he omits the grey Minerva-styled blaster from his Selects multi-pack release. Aside from that and the new packaging, the toy itself has no notable changes.

Merchandise

• Cybertron Hero Collection 22 (Decoy multi-pack, 1985)

In Japan, a red rubber mini-figure of Sunstreaker was available in part of a massive multi-pack of similar mini-figurines. The number etched into his back is the sum total of his tech spec ratings, as these figurines were used as game pieces for a variety of Transformers board games in which this number had some meaning to how the game was played or something. Sunstreaker mixes the cartoon model with elements from the original toy.

The Hasbro Decoy release of the Sunstreaker game piece is almost identical to the Japanese version, except the number on his back is a simple "checklist" number. Like all Autobot Decoys, he was a randomly-chosen pack-in available with the carded Throttlebots, Aerialbots, Protectobots, and Technobots.

A planned redeco of Titanium Series Side Swipe, which was based on Sideswipe's Alternators toy. Sunstreaker would have been partially constructed of die cast metal with limited articulation located in his shoulders and neck. Part of the first wave of Universe Robot Heroes toys, Sunstreaker is an adorably sociopathic non-transforming figure articulated at the neck and shoulders. He was available only in a two-pack with Galvatron, making this the most mentally-unbalanced Robot Heroes set ever.

Sunstreaker, Bold Warrior was released as part of the Transformers Trading Card Game Wave 2: Rise of the Combiners. Like all other members of combiner teams released in the set, Sunstreaker, Bold Warrior is a folding card, with the Bot and Alt modes being depicted when the card is folded in half, and a holofoil portion of the the combined mode depicted when unfolded. The reverse of Sunstreaker, Bold Warrior depicts the upper right portion of Optimus Maximus', of whom Sunstreaker forms the right arm.

The card's Bot Mode artwork uses the Combiner Wars Sunstreaker figure's packaging art.

Sunstreaker, Bold Warrior can be used to form Optimus Maximus, Ultimate Defender with the use of the Action card Sentinel Enigma while he and the other Wave 2 Sentinels are in Bot mode on the battlefield and/or KO area.

Eaglemoss

In the planned Transformers Chess Set by Eaglemoss, a relatively large and very well detailed statue of Sunstreaker was slated to be one of the Pawn pieces on the Autobot side.

A Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds for this project was launched, but failed to meet its goal by September 24, 2021 and the whole thing was canceled.

Jada Toys

Released by Jada Toys, Nano Metalfigs Sunstreaker is an incredibly small die-cast figurine molded in an action pose. He has a little base attached to his feet for balancing reasons.

He comes in an impressive multipack with seventeen other figurines. This mold was later redecoed as Spin-Out in the Series 2 18-pack.

Released in the sixth wave of Galaxy Version line of blind boxes, Blokees Sunstreaker is a roughly 4-inch tall, highly-articulated, and non-transforming snap-on model kit of the Autobot Sports car Warrior. He is built on a "Standard Body" skeleton shared with other Blokees figures in the line, but with different body pieces to make them distinct. As advertised in the box, Sunstreaker has a pull rate of 1 in every 9 boxes, or three times across four cases. Sunstreaker comes with a pair of closed weapon-holding and open splayed hands, and a blaster. The barrel of the weapon is compatible with the blast effects included with other kits.

Like the other Galaxy Version kits since Wave 2, Sunstreaker features a slightly upgraded suite of standard body parts, notably the multi-colored head piece with color-coded eyes, and he also features two pairs of sturdier pre-assembled hinge joints introduced in the fifth wave.

If you're a speed builder, be mindful when attaching the pre-assembled joints; Unlike the symmetrical joints from earlier waves, the pegs on both ends of these joints are designed to connect to specific pieces; The tabs with slightly smaller holes are intended for the upper arms and thighs, while the regular tabs are meant for the forearms and lower legs. While an incorrect knee joint assembly may cause it to very slightly lean when standing straight or in an A-stance, an incorrect elbow assembly won't be noticeably affected unless you're looking very closely.

Defender Version

Released for the fifth wave of the Defender Version line of blind boxes, this Sunstreaker is a 2.2-inch (5.5cm) kit, a few inches smaller than the Galaxy Version kits, but still articulated. He only comes a blaster differing from other Defender kits.

Like most of the larger Galaxy Version kits, Sunstreaker features a simple neck joint that is colored to match his optics, allowing it to be see-through from his head's eye holes.

• According to Hasbro, the pre-Transformers Diaclone version of Sunstreaker was the first transforming car-to-robot toy ever designed, namely by Kōjin Ōno. His alternate mode, a modified Lamborghini Countach with a rear-mounted supercharger engine, is actually based on an older Takara toy from their Microman line, the "Cosmo Countach" from 1978, which could also transform, albeit only into a weird half-robot, half-car hybrid. The Diaclone version of Sunstreaker, officially called Lamborghini Countach LP500S "Super Tuning", was originally only available in red and black/white police decos. This is one of several items that have led to the fan speculation that Sunstreaker and Sideswipe's colorations and bio texts were swapped around before their final release. Another factor being that, according to his Transformers Universe profile, Sunstreaker feels that Sideswipe's design is "spoiled by the rear-mounted engine in his automobile mode", when in fact Sunstreaker is the one with said engine. The fact that the engine ends up on his back in robot mode could be the inspiration for the "rocket backpack" from Sideswipe's bio. Finally, Sunstreaker's spring-loaded missile-launching forearms are more reminiscent of "powerful pile drivers" as mentioned in Sideswipe's bio. The yellow "rocket boosters" that were most often shown on his shoulders also had an adjustable connector peg that allowed them to attach to his arms, this was most likely the inspiration for the pile drivers. The statistics, however, are correct. This change would also explain Sunstreaker's otherwise inexplicable red shoulders/car panel decals, which were originally used to cover up the black plastic on the red Diaclone version.
  • Unlike the red and police versions of Diaclone Sunstreaker, there is little evidence of yellow Sunstreakers packaged as Transformers wearing the factory decals representing his park lights (assumed to be headlights by most).
• The red Diaclone version of Sunstreaker was sold by Takara in North America as the Diakron "DK-1" Car/Robot in 1983, seemingly just a few months before he would be rebranded as a Transformer.
• In 2003, an entry for a Commemorative Series "Sunstreaker" reissue was found in Canadian and Australian Toys"R"Us computers. The public Canadian Toys"R"Us website later even illustrated their listing with a non-official photo of the Generation 1 Sunstreaker toy lifted straight off a fan's website, complete with watermark. Ultimately, however, the listings for "Sunstreaker" transformed into listings for Commemorative Series Ricochet, leading to some confusion among fans.
• A mock-up of a "Sunstreaker Police Type" redeco of the 2008 Universe Sunstreaker mold, an homage to the Diaclone toy pictured above, was shown in Transformers Generations 2014 Vol. 1 as one of ten potential exclusives for Vol. 2. The mock-up promised that the final product would feature less of a placeholder name, as well as a lightbar, presumably the one from the Henkei! Alert version of the mold. In the end, it didn't win the poll to determine which of the ten would be produced, receiving only 3.8% of the fan votes.
