The Transformers

- Originally a Diaclone "New Countach LP500S", Sideswipe transforms into... well, into that. In robot mode he is armed with a white rifle and a missile launcher that can clip onto either of his shoulders. The launcher can fire one of three included white missiles, in theory, as the springs were weakened for the US release for safety reasons. The original 1984 US release did not have the rubsign found on later releases.
- When Hasbro released the original Generation 1 toys in continental Europe through its then recently acquired subsidiary Milton Bradley in 1985, several toys, such as the Autobot Cars, were actually pre-existing stock originally intended for Joustra's version of the Diaclone line that was acquired by Hasbro as part of an agreement with Joustra and put into MB-branded Transformers packaging. For some reason, the Sunstreaker toy (sporting its yellow Hasbro Transformers colors due to being produced during the Diaclone/Transformers transitional period) was released in packaging intended for his brother Sideswipe, an entirely different sculpt. The packaging even included Sideswipe's instructions and sticker sheet, neither of which were of much use for the toy. It's currently unknown whether the actual Sideswipe toy was ever sold in MB "Sideswipe" packaging at all, although considering the origin of the MB-branded Autobot Cars, it's very unlikely for this to be the case.[1]

- A non-transforming action figure that combines elements from both his original toy and his animation model, Action Master Sideswipe is compatible with any other Action Master weapon or vehicle. His partner-unit Vanguard forms a backpack and battle helmet, and complements Sideswipe's color scheme quite well.

- Part of the first assortment of Autobot cars, Sideswipe's original toy had his colors re-arranged to a black car mode with red and white robot parts, plus new neon green "racing" decals were added to the mix. His original rocket launcher was removed, and replaced with a large spring-loaded launcher that could be hand-held or mounted on his retooled car mode roof.
- His new spring-loaded missile launcher was taken from Snow Serpent from the G.I. Joe toyline.
- This toy was later repurposed to be a next-generation namesake youth in IDW Publishing's comics.

- In 2001, the Generation 1 Sideswipe toy was re-released by Takara under his Japanese name "Lambor", as a set bundled with his mold-mate Red Alert ("Alert" in Japan), exclusive to World Character Convention 12. His license plate decal was changed from the infringing "COUNTACH" to "CAR MACHINE".

- Lambor (Sideswipe) and Alert (Red Alert) were once again re-released together in January 2002 as an e-HOBBY exclusive "New Year Special" set. This version of the figure came with an alternate sticker sheet that changed the color of several of his decals: the blue stickers on his shins and stomach became red, while blue arrows on his feet were switched to yellow. He came with a new bio card with new art by Hidetsugu Yoshioka.

Universe (2003)

- One of several exclusives to OTFCC 2003, Universe Sideswipe is a redeco of the 2001 Robots in Disguise Prowl mold, once again transforming into a Lamborghini Diablo. A pair of add-on thrusters become arm-mounted launchers for robot mode; each one being a pressure-launch missile launcher.
- The part that connects the toy's windshield to the main body uses a red sticker rather than paint, as that part is made out of unpaintable plastic. The police lights from the original mold were removed, leaving this area bare. Prowl's sirens allow him to use a jetpack in robot mode, so there's an irony in leaving that feature out since jetpacks are a trademark of Sideswipe.
- This mold was also used to make Universe Inferno and the Universe incarnation of Generation 1 Sunstreaker.
While the toy's name was spelled "Sideswipe" (one word) on its own packaging, the cross-sell on the packaging for the OTFCC 2003 Shadow Striker/Roulette two-pack spelled it "Side Swipe" (two words) instead. See Notes for more.
Smallest Transforming Transformers

- Smallest Transforming Transformers Lambor is a very small-scale, extensively simplified replica of the original Sideswipe toy. He has very little articulation, he has no weapons, and his vehicle mode wheels cannot roll.
Alternators/Binaltech

- The second Alternators toy released, Side Swipe's alternate mode is a licensed 1:24 scale Dodge Viper (identified as an SRT-10 model by the Japanese Binaltech version) featuring opening doors, a detailed interior, and a hood that opens to reveal an engine bay holding a replica Viper V-10 engine. The vehicle mode also features movable steering and rubber tires with vacuum-metalized wheels. His removable engine becomes a blaster.
- The main difference between Hasbro's Alternators Side Swipe and Takara's Binaltech "Lambor" releases is that the Binaltech version has die-cast metal parts for most of the car's outer body shell, with the exception of the rear end (the "backpack" kibble in robot mode), and the entire red exterior of the car is fully painted, unlike the Alternators version's flat red plastic. Furthermore, the Alternators version sports additional "blackwash" paint operations on his chest the Binaltech version lacks.
- The Dodge Viper sculpt was originally designed to be a new body for Tracks after the first attempt to secure the Corvette license had fallen through. Eventually, though, Chevrolet had a change of mind and granted Hasbro and Takara the license for the Corvette design after all. As a result, the Viper mold was slightly redesigned, was given a new head sculpt and released as Sideswipe (or "Side Swipe") instead. This explains why, unlike most of the early Alternators toys, Side Swipe's robot mode bears little resemblance to his G1 self. The most noticeable redesign from the "Tracks" design was the vehicle mode's doors being moved from the "backpack" kibble (where they would have resembled the G1 Tracks toy's wings) to the sides of the arms, thus being the most obvious visual cue taken from the G1 Sideswipe toy. The doors are, however, still splayed out to the sides in the Alternators version's package art and can be moved to match Tracks's wing configuration, which implies that the redesign may have been done before the switch from Tracks to Sideswipe was made.
- This sculpt was retooled to make Dead End, who was then redecoed into Sunstreaker (although the retool was originally done with Sunstreaker in mind).

Commemorative Series

- The version of Generation 1 Sideswipe previously released as part of Takara's "Transformers Collection" series, albeit with its spring-loaded launcher de-sprung for safety reasons, was reissued by Hasbro under the modified name "Side Swipe" as part of their Commemorative Series VIII, one of the last American reissues. However, because Toys"R"Us, who had carried the Commemorative Series as an exclusive line up until that point, had abruptly decided to discontinue the line, Side Swipe was only released in very low quantities in the United States; in fact, his availability at TRU was considered a myth for many years. The unsold stock was made available a year later through KB Toys stores and outlets, at half the original price. The figure was, however, available at Toys"R"Us stores in Australia and Canada in 2004 in average quantities.
- In 2012, several Commemorative Series figures, among them Side Swipe, were re-released in Hasbro's Asian markets, in slightly altered packaging. Unlike most of the other figures from this batch, Side Swipe retained the "Commemorative Series VIII" label on his box; however, the background color of the "choking hazard" safety warning label was changed from red to black, the Hasbro logo was updated to the then-current version, and the "+" after the "Ages 5+" recommendation was increased in size. Oddly, even though Hasbro had started spelling the name of toys of the character as "Sideswipe" again in 2008, this release still rendered the name as "Side Swipe".

Universe (2008)

- Part of the third wave of 2008 Universe Deluxe Class toys, Sideswipe is a retool/redeco of Universe Sunstreaker, transforming into a modified Lamborghini Gallardo. Though the car is mostly based upon the Gallardo, to avoid legal problems, it also features modified headlights and elements taken from other cars—most of them are taken from other Lamborghini models, such as a rear end that is basically a cross between a Murciélago and a Diablo; however, the split side windows and the ridges on the door vents are based on a McLaren F1. He also comes with the same roof-mounted engine supercharger accessory as Sunstreaker. Hasbro's early plans for Sunstreaker and Sideswipe had the two as straight redecos of each other, only differing in their head sculpts besides their colors—namely, Sunstreaker would have just been Sideswipe in yellow with a different head. It was TakaraTomy designer Hisashi Yuki who suggested an alternate transformation by turning the upper body by 180 degrees (and swapping the hands to accommodate the different upper body orientation), thus providing more individual robot mode looks for the two characters that resemble their respective Generation 1 designs more.[2]
Universe Tigertrack. Fortunately, this didn't happen. - Hasbro also originally intended the alternate mode's supercharger to split into two halves which would then become the handgun and a spring-loaded shoulder launcher for the robot mode. On the final toy, the Flare Launcher (a redeco of Sunstreaker's Electron Pulse Blaster) can be combined with the removable supercharger engine accessory by wrapping the intakes around the gun and mounted in either of the holes on his shoulders to simulate Sideswipe's Generation 1 missile launcher. Of course, this leaves him without a hand-held weapon. The engine can also be mounted on Sideswipe's back as his rocket pack. Most of this is not shown in the instructions, which only instruct the owner of the toy to put the gun in his hand and attach the supercharger to his back.
- Even worse, Sideswipe's instruction line art is recycled from Sunstreaker's instructions and therefore incorrectly gives him Sunstreaker's transformation and head, despite the stock photo depicted on top of the instructions showing him with the hood as the chest and the correct Sideswipe head.[3] Unfortunately, the stock photo Hasbro provided to online retailers retains this incorrect transformation, and throws in some additional mistakes as well. Oy.
- The Sunstreaker/Sideswipe sculpt was also retooled into Timelines Punch, Generation 2 Breakdown, and Generation 1 Breakdown, as well as Henkei! Henkei! Alert and Generations Red Alert.

Henkei! Henkei!
- The Japanese version of Universe Sideswipe has vacuum metallized silver on his flare launcher and his spoiler, but does not come with the supercharger engine/rocket pack accessory that Henkei Sunstreaker and Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe included. This was a willful decision meant to differentiate further between him and Sunstreaker. That's right: Takara deliberately omitted an optional accessory to make the toy more "G1-accurate".[2]
- He also has correct, personalized instructions that aren't just Sunstreaker's. Like Sunstreaker, the Japanese version's roof paint is a much closer match to the red colored plastic. The Japanese version also features a glossier black paint and the white has a yellow tint compared to the white plastic used for Hasbro version. His license plate says "LAMBOR" rather than "SWIPE".

- A Generation 2-style redeco of Universe Sideswipe, Timelines Sideswipe is pre-molded in new colors, which was unprecedented for the BotCon customization class exclusive (and apparently came as a surprise to Fun Publications). During the class, the mold was assembled, painted and stickered by the enrollees. Between the two classes, there were 52 participants.

- In regards to the plastic mold changes, white remains white, but like the original Generation 2 figure, the red and black colors are swapped. Clear green replaces the clear plastic used for the window and thighs.
- This figure uses the Generations Red Alert version of the mold, which includes two screw holes in the canopy (rather than one like Henkei! Henkei! Alert or none like all other versions of this mold). The samples Shawn Tessmann had on display used the original version of the mold, and lacked the screw holes. Despite the mold change, the lightbar was not included. These holes replace the slots used to mount the rocket pack in robot mode. The rocket pack can still be mounted on the gun in robot mode and in car mode though. As an unintended result of having empty screw holes over the rocket pack sockets, Sideswipe can now mount his gun inside either screw hole on the roof of his car mode.

- Kre-O Sideswipe can be built in either robot or G1-inspired car mode. His head sculpt is heavily based on Universe Sideswipe's head design, but as a first for a Sideswipe toy with a primarily red body, the head is not colored black, but red like the Generation 2-inspired BotCon 2010 customization class version's head (see above). He comes with two Kreons: a Sideswipe based on the Generation 1 character and a generic driver.
- Like many other Kre-O sets, his stock photography shows a different robot mode construction than the final product. The most noticeable examples are his lower legs which have a much less awkward construction in the stock photos than the final product. Whether this is the photographer taking creative liberty or if the set design changed is unknown. The stock photography also depicts the set as including the Red Alert Kreon in place of Sideswipe.

- This version of Sideswipe features much more extensive toy-based tampographs than his prior version.
- He was only available in a San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive pack of 30 Kreons dubbed the "Kreon Class of 1984". Remaining stock was to be sold at Hasbro Toy Shop online, only there was no remaining stock after the show.
Masterpiece

- Masterpiece Lambor transforms into a licensed Lamborghini Countach LP500S. As with other figures in the Masterpiece line, he is intended to be an accurate representation of his cartoon model, and even features a Lamborghini-supervised paint scheme, such as glossy red paint covering the entirety of his vehicle mode panels and robot shoulders, as well as various bits of black detailing to make it accurate to the real-life vehicle. Standing at around 6¼ inches (or 15.5 centimetres) from head to toe in robot mode, he is also in scale with MP-10 Optimus Prime, and can fit inside Prime's trailer in vehicle mode. In contrast to larger entries in this line, Lambor lacks die-cast parts, and his tires are cast in hard, non-rubberized plastic.
- For accessories, he comes with his hand-held flare gun, and his non-firing missile launcher, which is jointed at the peg to allow it to pivot up and down, and can mount on either shoulder in robot mode. His launcher and gun can be combined and mounted on a self-covering peg-hole on his vehicle roof/robot back. He also comes with a pair of pile drivers, which can snap onto the ends of his forearms when either hand is flipped in, and are based on the blunt arm pistons he uses in "A Plague of Insecticons". He is also compatible with the rocket pack included with MP-44 Convoy, as it belonged to Sideswipe in "More than Meets the Eye, Part 3".
- If purchased in Japan through Amazon.com, one additionally gets a different vacuum-metalized pair of pile drivers, which are based on the jackhammer-like pistons he uses in "Dinobot Island, Part 2". If purchased in other Asian markets outside of Japan, a collector's coin is included instead. Both the coin and its wheel-shaped package identify him as Sideswipe instead of Lambor. In Malaysia, Lambor included both the additional Amazon.co.jp pile drivers and the coin. A reissue of the figure in September 2015 came with a different coin, coming in a package shaped like Sideswipe's chest/front hood.[4]
- This mold was redecoed and retooled to make MP-14 Alert. Lambor's version of the mold, with Alert's face, was then redecoed into MP-12T Tigertrack.

- Like the original Generation 2 Sideswipe toy, Masterpiece Lambor G-2 Ver. features mostly a straight-up swap of his red and black plastic and paint colors, resulting in a black body with red trim. His windows have been changed from translucent black to translucent red, his helmet is painted red, and he features a new, Yaniger-licious snarling face with separately-painted pearly whites. He comes with a sticker sheet that duplicates the original G2 toy's deco, as well as two comic-accurate Generaton 2 Autobot symbol stickers of varying sizes. While the majority of the red car parts on the original Masterpiece figure are now black, portions of the robot mode that were previously red remain red. These areas include the back of his legs as well as portions of his torso.
- Instead of his original weapons, Lambor comes with new accessories based on the weapons he wielded in the Marvel G2 comic. These include a handheld machine gun and grenade launcher, a pair of articulated, non-rolling spiked wheels that can mount on his shoulders, and a sword, all of which can combine and mount onto his roof. Sadly, he does not come with a bandolier to properly carry that sword on his back, which means the sword just kind-of loosely stows there according to the instructions.
- If purchased in Asian markets outside of Japan, a recolor of MP-12 Lambor's collector's coin is included. Among other minor differences, the coin is now colored silver, and its wheel-shaped package now features a Generation 2 Autobot symbol at the back in place of a Generation 1-type symbol.
- The first Masterpiece Lambor figure is reissued without any Autobot symbols (akin to his red Diaclone New Countach LP500S counterpart) , and released as a Transformers Expo 2014 exclusive, with the included customer-applied insignias.
- Lambor Anime Color Edition (November 25, 2017)

- Issued to coincide with the release of Masterpiece Sunstreaker and continuing the Masterpiece+ sideline, started with Masterpiece Alert Anime Color Edition, Lambor Anime Color Edition is a redeco and retool of Lambor in more anime accurate colors—including bright white paint on the thighs and the ridges by his head. His arms and feet remain a very light blue / off-white color to replicate the distinction in color his character model featured between the original toy's white plastic and vac-metallic silver parts. The Autobot symbol on his chest is larger. He now has MP-14 Alert's face in place of the original MP-12's face.
- He comes with three sets of pile drivers, the two from the original MP-12, plus the third set originally included with Masterpiece Clampdown, redecoed in grey, which is based on their appearance in "S.O.S. Dinobots". The instructions also depict the Red Alert mold for the transformation steps.
- When purchased in Asian markets outside of Japan, yet another (number four for those keeping track at home) collector coin is included, cast in bright silver (as opposed to the brushed appearance of the G-2 coin), which also for the first time identifies him as "Lambor". It comes mounted on a card similar to the original MP-12 and G-2 coins, however the wheel motif is based on the actual Countach wheel design, rather than the generic spoked wheel of its predecessors. Like the coin itself, the card identifies him as "Lambor."[5]
Q-Transformers

- Q-Transformers Lambor transforms from super deformed Lamborghini Countach to cute little robot. He comes with a code for unlocking Sideswipe as a playable character in the Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns game.

Generations
- Sideswipe vs. Reflector (unreleased Toys"R"Us exclusive 2-pack, planned for ca. 2011)
- This figure would have been a either a retool or a straight redeco of 2008 Universe Deluxe Class Sideswipe, in a color scheme based on his 1993 Generation 2 toy, but with a slightly different color and deco layout than the BotCon 2010 exclusive Timelines customization class figure. It would have either featured Sideswipe's regular head or a completely different, never-seen-before head sculpt. It was inteded to be released as part of a Toys"R"Us exclusive two-pack with Reflector, a redeco of Reveal the Shield Delue Class Perceptor that would have used that toy's alternate head sculpt. The intended deco sheets for the two figures were revealed by the unofficial Pete's Robot Convention on Facebook in 2020, but later taken down again at the request of Hasbro. Oddly, the deco sheet for Sideswipe alternatively depicts the figure with a never-seen-before head sculpt and with Sideswipe's regular head.

Fall of Cybertron

The Aligned Sideswipe toy was repurposed as Generation 1 Sideswipe in multiple continuities.
- Part of the third wave of 2012 Generations Deluxe Class toys, Fall of Cybertron Sideswipe is an extensive retool of Fall of Cybertron Jazz, featuring a mostly new vehicle shell, as well as having a new robot head and weapon. His massive "battle cannon" is modeled after a Path Blaster from Fall of Cybertron, features 5mm posts for the handle and on its side, has a spinning, ratcheting drum, and can extend its barrel. In an undocumented feature, the blaster can mount at an angle onto his vehicle rear, with the back of the blaster sliding into the spoiler. He features 5mm ports for his hands, on his forearms/rear vehicle sides, and on his vehicle roof.
- In robot mode, he features a case of faux parts: The centers of his feet are fake wheels (attached to the legs via ratchet joints) that are hidden in the rear section of his vehicle mode, while his real vehicle mode wheels end up on the sides of his chest (partially obscured by panels) and on his forearms.
- His stock photography depicts him with blue eyes, but the final product leaves his eyes the same black/dark gray color as his head. Creepy.
- The TakaraTomy version of the figure features a metallic red paint job on the entirety of the car and several other extensive detailing changes. The most notable of these include the metallic red paint, War for Cybertron style Autobot lighting effects all throughout the figure, maroon paint surrounding his striping, silver striping instead of white in car mode, metallic gray legs instead of white, and blue painted eyes instead of cold dead unpainted clear gray eyes. The TakaraTomy version also features the smaller pistol included with Jazz that was omitted from the Hasbro release.
- The new shell parts involved in the conversion from Jazz have a design flaw. Similar to Jazz, Sideswipe's back consists of two parts connected via hinge joint that are intended to lock into place by pegging into the pelvis. Unlike Jazz however, Sideswipe's back parts do not swivel far enough to be capable of latching onto the pelvis, leaving the instructions impossible and his robot mode unstable.
- Unsurprisingly, Fall of Cybertron Sideswipe was used for several depictions of Generation 1 Sideswipe. The TakaraTomy deco appeared in the Transformers: All Spark manga series. This toy also serves as a rough stand-in for Sideswipe's body in "Season 1" of IDW Publishing's Robots in Disguise comic series.[6]

Cyber Series

- Released as part of a third wave of Generations Cyber Battalion figures, Sideswipe is a heavy retool of Cyber Battalion Prowl, featuring a new head, chest, forearms, and feet. He can convert from robot to a car in 8 steps. He has a chunkier design and is intended for a younger audience, but despite that he has an excellent range of poseability. The transformation seems to partially be taken from the Reveal the Shield Legends Class Prowl figure.
- This figure was sold in the United States at Walgreens stores after debuting in Asian markets.
War for Cybertron: Siege

- Part of the first wave of Siege Deluxe Class figures, Sideswipe transforms from robot to Cybertronian car and back. He includes two weapons compatible with the C.O.M.B.A.T. System—the "W-10 Photo-Pulser Proton Launcher", and the "W-5 Gyro Blaster" (which inspired a similar accessory for Siege Sixgun and Cromar). Both weapons can combine to form the "RR Gyrofuse Axleswitch Hyper-Blaster." Due to the fact that there are two 5 mm ports on the W-5 blaster accessory, the W-10 can fit into both sides of the weapon. Sideswipe also features "battle damage" paint applications on his waist, shins, and feet, as well as multiple hardpoints all over himself and his weapons to accommodate "Fire Blasts" from the Battle Masters assortment, which can be used to simulate blaster fire or explosions.
- He has a rather aggravating issue in that his instructions are rather unclear and may cause you to try bending the knees farther back than you should, resulting in a broken joint and floppy leg. Also, his hood-chest may have trouble pegging into place, and his back 5mm hole is a liiittle too low to really use it for much.
- A jetpack intended for Sideswipe is sold separately as part of the Earthrise Centurion Drone Weaponizer Pack set.
- Though designated for release in the first quarter of 2019, Sideswipe's wave reached U.S. store shelves in late 2018.

- "Covert Clone Sideswipe" is a redeco of the above mold in the colours of his Generation 2 iteration, and unlike most modern releases of the redeco, he retains the Generation 1 insignia (accurate to the original Generation 2 toy). Sideswipe was included in the "Autobot Alphastrike Counterforce" with Slamdance and the Battle Master Trenchfoot. As with the above figure, Covert Clone Sideswipe features battle damage, weapons, and hard points for "Fire Blasts".
- A preliminary name for this pack was "Firestormer Battle Pack", which showed up in several online listings, and also on Hasbro shipping cases for the set. The set was an Amazon exclusive in North America, which also label the set as "Final Strike Figure Series: Part 1." In Europe, it was supposed to be an Amazon exclusive as well, but was never actually stocked.
- "Covert Clone Sideswipe" is a clone of Generation 1 Sideswipe in the scope of Siege.[7] As such, this characterization is reminiscent of the Wings Universe Sideswipe clone. However, the toy's appearance is closer to the second-generation Sideswipe from the 2005 IDW continuity. Regardless, this toy would be used as a new body for the original Sideswipe in a Generations Selects Special Comic chapter.

- Promoting the Siege season of the Netflix War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon, this redeco of Siege Sideswipe slathers the Autobot in an extensive paint wash coating to represent accumulated grime and battle scars. In contrast to the Siege Sideswipe toy (and an oddity compared to most Sideswipe toys), the normally-red plastic components are actually grey and painted red to achieve the damaged look.
- This release was exclusive to Walmart in the U.S. and Canada, and general retail in Asian markets. He is also available in Japan as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive.

- Kingdom Sideswipe is a retool of his Siege toy, transforming into an unlicensed approximation of a Lamborghini Countach LP500S. His parts cast in red (primarily his vehicle mode parts) and roof/windshield are molded to closely resemble the earlier release of Earthrise Sunstreaker. The missile, which is also cast in red, is a new sculpt, lacking the 5 mm post. The parts that are not cast in red (the wheels, shoulder cannon, and robot mode parts) remain the same. He also has the blaster first included with Siege Red Alert.
- The jet pack included with the War for Cybertron Trilogy Deluxe Centurion Drone is still compatible with Kingdom Sideswipe.
- Revealed on #TransformersTuesday, Sideswipe was released with Maximal Skywarp as a part of the "Battle Across Time Collection". Though similar to the Siege "Final Strike Figure Series", being exclusive multi-packs with package art that combines into a larger piece, the "Battle Across Time Collection" label is printed on the box. The two-pack is exclusive to Amazon and Hasbro Pulse in the US, and in the UK on Hasbro Pulse and several online retailers.
- Being two Deluxe Class toys, Amazon priced the set at $44.99 USD, but Hasbro Pulse priced the set at $47.99 USD. Amazon later changed the price to match the other "Battle Across Time Collection" set at $52.99 USD, despite the other set being one Deluxe and one Voyager and this set only containing two Deluxe Class toys. The Amazon price was eventually reduced to the Hasbro Pulse price. Sheesh!

- In recent years, a mock-up of a second Generation 2 redeco of the original Sideswipe toy has surfaced. Acquired and photographed by Transformers rarities-hunter Maziar Shahsafdari, the find joins the ranks of the similarly unmade Generation 2 "desert Ramjet" and pink and green Mirage mock-ups. Package art for the figure published in Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging revealed that it would have had decals of a sunrise/sunset on the vehicle mode hood and doors.
- During the 1990s, another company held the "Sideswipe" trademark in the "toys" field, even though Hasbro still released two toys using that name as part of the Generation 2 line (it's unclear if this resulted in any legal repercussions for Hasbro). When Hasbro finally managed to reclaim the name for the Robots in Disguise line, the name was now rendered as "Side Swipe", in two words, for whatever reason. The next two toys to spell "Sideswipe" as one word again were the OTFCC 2003 exclusive[8] and the Armada Super-Con.[9] However, the OTFCC figure was referred to as "Side Swipe" when featured as a cross-sell on the packaging for the OTFCC 2003 Shadow Striker/Roulette two-pack,[10] whereas the "Unicron Battles-style packaging redesign for the Armada figure saw the name changed to "Side Swipe" on the name insert as well.[11] Hasbro finally decided to re-file the name "Sideswipe" (as one word) as a trademark in 2008, presumably because a character in the upcoming movie Revenge of the Fallen and the accompanying toy line was going to sport that name, and Hasbro were using that as an opportunity to re-introduce the spelling of the name as one word. As a result, the Universe Deluxe Class toy was the first toy to "properly" sport the name "Sideswipe" as one word. Oddly enough, in 2012, Hasbro re-filed "Side Swipe", along with several other old trademarks.[12]
- Fun Publications considered making a Combiner Wars Sideswipe (as a straight redeco of Combiner Wars Deluxe Class Breakdown), but ultimately shelved this idea in favor of other products.
