The United States and Japan aren't the only countries that have Transformers commercials. Just about every country that received the original The Transformers toyline had their own television advertising campaign for it. Approaches to the commercials differed quite a bit, with most countries simply receiving dubbed US spots, some getting their own unique spots (early UK, Spain) or, in the case of Italy, a combination of both. The reason for these different approaches (besides needing to adjust for different cultures) is that during the early years of the Transformers brand, Hasbro did not yet have local offices to handle the marketing and distribution of its toys outside of the US and Canada. As a result, marketing and distribution was licensed out to companies with ties to various local markets. Commercials for Generation 1 after 1990 were largely the same across Europe, originally produced for Milton Bradley in English and then dubbed for the other markets. By the time Generation 2 was being released in the US, Hasbro had started to open foreign offices. As a result, foreign advertising campaigns began to shift away from unique commercials and towards a more economical approach of simply dubbing the spots created for the US. Since 2001, practically all foreign Transformers advertising in Hasbro markets uses dubbed spots.

Since many modern international ads are merely U.S. ads dubbed for non-English markets, only post G1 ads with either changes to the order of footage or entirely new footage will be listed here.

Generation 1

[edit]
  • Optimus Prime and Soundwave [1]
Animation: Jazz, Prowl and Sideswipe, all in robot mode, fly past Optimus Prime, who drives off a ramp and transforms. Black helmet Megatron lands and fires at Jazz, Prowl and Sideswipe, who all transform from vehicle to robot mode. Taken from early US adverts.
Toy segment: Two kids play with Thundercracker, Starscream, Soundwave and the mini-cassettes on a plain table. Buzzsaw is removed from Soundwave and transformed. Optimus Prime is then "driven" between Jazz, Hound, Gears, Bumblebee and Sideswipe. Prime's trailer is revealed as a battle headquarters, before the kids transform Prime himself and Soundwave to head the two factions, primed to fight for the table.
Notes: Soundwave is described as the leader of the Decepticons. The early "warrior robots in disguise" tag is present.
They'll stop Soundwave and his evil Decepticons from destroying EARTH (Earth, earth)... We hope.

  • Decepticon planes, Autobot cars and mini-cars [2]
Animation: Thundercracker, Skywarp and Starscream strafe Sideswipe, Jazz and Prowl. All six transform to robot mode to brawl.
Toy segment: Two kids play with several seeker toys and some of the mini-cassettes on a plain table. Thundercracker's transformation is highlighted. Two other kids play with an array of the Autobot cars on another table, showing off Jazz's transformation. The "evil spy cassettes" are presented, followed by the minibots. All four groups face off across the table.
Notes: The "warrior robots in disguise" tag is in full use. The minibot being tranformed and given prominent focus is a yellow Cliffjumper. Duplicates of the Decepticon planes, most of the mini-cassettes and half the Autobot cars are in plain view in group shots.
They're ingenious, they're incredible, they're the Transformers!

  • The Transformers #1 [3]
Animation: The Decepticon jets fire upon the Autobot cars. The cover to issue 1 spins in to cover the action.
Notes: 25p and free action transfers!

  • Optimus Prime [4]
Animation: Prowl, Sideswipe and Jazz takeoff; Optimus Prime transforms and fires; Black helmet Megatron takes aim. All were re-used from the early American commercials.
Toy segment: Two kids play with Optimus Prime, all of the pre-movie Autobot Cars and at least four Seekers: Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and Ramjet. They do so in a "mountainous area just outside a big city" diorama with the tabletop and city skyline in a red and white grid pattern inspired by G1 Autobot packaging.
Notes: Optimus is referred to as being the Autobots' "battle headquarters" as well as their leader.
Optimus Prime, we need you!

MegaTRON?
  • Megatron [5](short clip)
Animation: Unknown.
Toy segment: Megatron is played with in front of a purple and white grid backdrop inspired by G1 Decepticon packaging.

  • Autobot cars & Decepticon planes [6]
Animation: The "Autobot cars meet the Seekers" portion of the The Transformers #1 spot.
Toy segment: Essentially the same as the Optimus Prime spot but without Prime.
Notes: The Ratchet toy used in the commercial is the cross variant.

  • Shooting Stars Character Marbles [7]
Toy segment: Dual images of Spider-Man, the A-Team, Optimus Prime and a Go-Bot spin in turn towards the screen. A shot of all the various marble sets in their packaging is shown with a kid's hand doing a thumbs up in front.
Notes: Optimus Prime's images are photos of his toy (same for the Go-Bot). Possibly the only TV ad of the 80s to feature Transformers and Go-Bots (well, Machine Robo) together?
They're great!

Animation: Soundwave battles Sludge, Slag and Grimlock. Trimmed down footage from the US Dinobots commercial.
Toy segment: Two boys in blue sweaters play with the Dinobots on the same red-and-white grid seen in the previous Autobot-centric ads. Surrounding them are grey mountains, behind them an orange sun looms in a red sky. The narrator tells us the Autobots have created Slag, Sludge, Snarl and Grimlock, "a brave prehistoric breed". A third boy joins the scene, armed with Dirge and Ramjet, who swoop in for attack. The Dinobots transform to robot mode. Ramjet floats around in front of them before deciding to retreat.

They're not bedsheets, they're mountains!
  • Insecticons [9]
Animation: Two farmers flee the Insecticons, who ravage their buildings.
Toy segment: Two kids in matching purple jumpers are surrounded by a veritable horde of Insecticons on a mountainous diorama. The camera dramatically zooms in on Kickback, Shrapnel and Bombshell in their insect modes. These are shown off in close-ups before Prowl and Sideswipe are "driven" in and parked alongside Mirage and Jazz. The Insecticons are shown transforming to robot mode. The Autobots, now also in robot mode, engage them in hectic child-driven combat. The Insecticons are displayed in robot mode in a group shot before the end cap.
Notes: Bombshell and Shrapnel have their names mistakenly swapped around, with the former being referred under the latter's name while the latter is referred under the former's name.
Only the heroic Autobots can save Earth from the evil Insecticons. Or can they?!

Toy segment: The Autobot slot car, Natron is spotlighted in its robot mode before it races the Decepticon Freezon along the slot car track in both robot and vehicle mode.
Notes: The Electric Train and Battle Set is silently plugged in the end screen.
From Tyco, of course.

  • Decepticon Planes - Ramjet, Dirge and Thrust [11]
Animation: The "Autobot cars meet the Seekers" portion of the The Transformers #1 spot.
Toy segment: Ramjet, Dirge and Thrust join the earlier Decepticon planes, but are spotted by Prowl, Mirage and Inferno. The Coneheads' transformations are shown off as the two groups face off.
The battle goes on!

Animation: The Autobot cars clash with the Seekers, as per pretty much every ad up til now.
Toy segment: On the red grid table, the '84 and '85 Autobot cars are lined up. Two children pull back Topspin and Twin Twist and let them run through the gap in their allies, and they pop-up and transform. Their auto-transformation is shown off again in close up when two evil children appear with Thrust and Skywarp! The Jumpstarters do their thing again a few times, and gain their weapons before they mindlessly brawl with the jets.
Notes: This 30 second ad pretty much sums up the entirety of play value available from the figures. Both Jumpstarters are missing most, if not all, of their stickers. The children are wearing colour-coded jumpers - blue for the Autobot kids, purple for the Decepticon kids.
No other Autobot jumps into action faster than... Jumpstarters!

  • Arrival From Cybertron Video Gems VHS [13]
Animation: Clips from More Than Meets The Eye
A full length cartoon spectacular!

  • Dinobots and Jetfire [14]
Animation: Same edit of Soundwave battling Sludge, Slag and Grimlock as the previous Dinobot commercial.
Toy segment: Jetfire flies over the usual sandy and mountainous environment. The narrator informs us that the Autobots are always on their guard and that "In the air is Jetfire, heavily armored and daring in battle." Jetfire eventually comes to a jungle, from which Snarl emerges. The narrator tells us that patrolling the jungle are the Dinobots, once again described as "a brave prehistoric breed". Sludge arises from some heavy mist inside another part of the jungle while Slag comes out from behind a rocky outcropping somewhere else. Jetfire transforms to robot mode, then Scourge and Cyclonus show up. Cyclonus flies into the mouth of Grimlock, who rises from out of the ground like a zombie. Grimlock transforms and poses with the other Dinobots and Jetfire on some rocks.
The Dinobots and Jetfire are ready for anything!

  • Ultra Magnus and Galvatron [15]
Animation: Astrotrain and Blitzwing swoop down over Powerglide and create an explosion; Ultra Magnus and his carrier full of Autobots transform in front a volcano. The latter is an excerpt from the animated footage used in the US Battlechargers commercial while the former excerpt is re-used from the U.S. Autobot Triple Changers & Octane commercial.
Toy segment: Ultra Magnus rolls through a rocky diorama and transforms; Galvatron rolls onto a plateau, transforms and shows off his eye flashing ability.
Notes: Galvatron's electronic noises are played constantly during his section of the ad. The music used in this and the rest of the 1986/87 commercials can be heard in full on The Special Teams audio cassette in all its funky synthesised hand-clap glory.
The magnificent ULTRA MAGNUS!

Animation: Re-used from the US Battlechargers commercial.
Toy segment: The Battlechargers are pushed between columns of Decepticon jets, before being dragged back and let go to repeatedly show off the auto-transformation gimmick, which is timed on-screen at 2.17 seconds.
Nothing jumps into battle faster than Battlechargers!

  • Springer & Octane [17]
Animation: Re-used from the U.S. Autobot Triple Changers & Octane commercial.
Toy segment: Springer and Octane's modes are counted off.
TRIPLE CHANGERS! Another dimension in the battle between TRANSFORMERS!

Animation: Metroplex drives and shoots. Re-used from the American commercial.
Toy segment: Ominous music plays while Cyclonus and Scourge fly towards Metroplex and Wheelie, Scamper and Blades demonstrate Metroplex's base mode features. Metroplex then triumphantly transforms into robot mode only to have the ominous question asked: But can Metroplex beat off the new Decepticons?
Notes: The same red sweater wearing kid's hand from the previous commercial is shown moving the toys.
This is Metroplex, Autobot city.

  • Aerialbots, Stunticons, Combaticons and Protectobots [19]
Animation: Group shot of Protectobots transforming and attacking, edited from US commercial.
Toy segment: Each group is shown in vehicle mode before Superion is constructed from the individual Aerialbots and placed alongside Bruticus, Defensor and Menasor.
NEW TEAMS! This really is a battle of the giants!

  • Autobot Cars - Kup, Blurr and Hot Rod [20]
Animation: Hot Rod and Kup transform to attack Starscream and Skywarp. Blurr runs around in circles.
Toy segment: We see Kup, Blurr and Hot Rod in vehicle form, backed up by some of the still-available Autobot cars from the previous two years. We're told by the narrator that these three new warriors have been built by the Autobots on Cybertron, even though the commercial takes place in the usual sandy, mountainous environment. Wireframe breakdowns of the three new Autobots in vehicle form appear, which transition back to filmed footage of the toys in action. Kup is said to be experienced in battle, which seems to contradict the previous statement about him just being built right off the bat. Blurr jumps a cliff. Hot Rod rams two Decepticons off another cliffside, before transforming and joining his two comrades to pose moodily.
Notes: Hot Rod is sporting his early pink paint job, rather than his normal crimson look, along with Tracks's iconic bonnet sticker on his chest, instead of his own flame decal. The wireframe-to-toy effects are reminiscent of those seen in Takara's Diaclone Car Robots Porsche 935 Turbo (Jazz) commercial.
The Decepticons' days are numbered!

  • Decepticon Planes - Scourge & Cyclonus [21]
Animation: Scourge and Cyclonus attacking, re-used from their US ad.
Toy segment: Scourge and Cyclonus are shown through a camera reticle in vehicle form as the narrator tells us that "We can now bring you the latest pictures of the new Decepticon planes - they're light-years ahead!" Shutter closing effects accompany shots of the Decepticons from different angles. Cyclonus and Scourge transform just in time to see Hot Rod and Blurr drive up. The Decepticons react by...going off to somewhere else?
If any Autobots are watching this, BE WARNED.

Animation: Various clips from Transformers: The Movie are shown. One-upping the US "Does Prime die?" commercial, the announcer tell us that this is our chance to "see Optimus Prime and Megatron in their final battle". We are also promised "super new Autobot heroes" (Rodimus is shown), and "evil new Decepticons" (Galvatron & Unicron are showcased).
The ultimate Transformers adventure. Transformers: The Movie - opens December 12th!

  • Autobot Heroes - Rodimus Prime and Wreck-Gar [24]
Animation: The newly amended, paler Transformers logo zooms in and smashes to reveal the words "Autobot Heroes". In the background, a pale yellow planet is seen.
Toy segment: Bruticus looms over Goldbug, but Wreck-Gar (billed as "Junkion Leader" on-screen) and Rodimus Prime ("Autobot Protector") race to the rescue. Transforming to robot mode and still accompanied by Goldbug, they stare down the Combaticon combiner.
Notes: 1987's commercials resemble those of 1986, but for this year only no longer borrow any animated footage from their US counterparts, as well as replacing the funky synthesized hand-clap-laden arrangement of the music with a different one.

Red rover, red rover, they're all coming over!
  • Duocons and Throttlebots
Animation: Same logo zoom / smash as the previous commercial.
Toy segment: Flywheels and Battletrap fly past a mountain backdrop and a purple sculpture reading "NEW DUOCONS". They merge with their ground-based components and spring into robot mode. The Throttlebots are alerted to this, but still find time to do some pull-back-and-go stunt work before fending off the enemy.

Animation: Decepticon version of the logo/smash animation that dissolves into a wireframe animation of Highbrow, displaying his tech spec reader feature.
Toy segment: Highbrow in helicopter mode is seen flying past Mindwipe and Weirdwolf in a rocky Nebulan environment. He then flies over Skullcruncher before coming in for a landing next to his Autobot Headmaster comrades. The Nebulan minifigures, which the narration informs us are their "commanders", are shown converting to become the heads of the robots.
Notes: In a nice little detail, not only as Highbrow's rotors spinning as the kid actors flies him around but the grit on the diorama is disturbed by their wake when he comes into land.
From the distant planet Nebulos come the new Headmasters!

  • Headmasters short version [26]
Toy segment: Gort is removed from Highbrow's cockpit, transformed into head mode and placed onto a now transformed Highbrow, highlighting the chest-stat display feature.
Notes: Made using footage from the 30 second ad.
Headmasters!

Animation: Decepticon version of the logo/smash animation reveals a view from space of the strangely pulsating, bright blue planet Nebulos.
Toy segment: The Decepticon Targetmasters are seen through a crosshairs in their jet forms, followed by the Targetmaster Autobots in vehicle modes. Pointblank and Spoilsport are used to demonstrate the Nebulan-to-gun play feature. In robot form, the Targetmaster Autobots and Decepticons line up for battle.
Notes: Pretty much every Targetmaster is holding the wrong Nebulan.
They're armed and ready for battle!

They're still going to miss.
  • Targetmasters short version [28]
Toy segment: As Crosshairs moves into view, the camera narrows in on Spoilsport and shows him transforming and being held by Pointblank. Footage is recut from the longer ad, with Spoilsport's transformation reversed.
Notes: Spoilsport and Pointblank were not sold as partners.
Targetmaaaaasteeeeeers

Animation: Decepticon version of the logo/smash animation.
Toy segment: Scorponok is seen in base mode. His various play features, including the ramp gimmick and Fasttrack are highlighted. Transformation into scorpion mode is shown, and he inexplicably (well, see below) grabs Sinnertwin in his pincers. Under attack by the Autobots, finally he changes to robot mode, with some animation to showcase his "secret power readout".
Notes: The Autobot group attacking Scorponok erroneously includes three of the Terrorcons; this "casting" error is to blame for Sinnertwin getting grabbed. Scorponok is touted as "The biggest Headmaster ever", his Autobot counterpart absent from the UK line-up.

Animation: Decepticon version of the logo/smash animation which dissolves into a wireframe animation of Apeface's Headmaster / power readout feature
Toy segment: Apeface and Snapdragon are shown flying in jet mode on Nebulos. Conversion of their trainers into the heads of the Horrorcon beasts is spotlighted, and then again into the robot mode heads.
Notes: No Autobots appear or are even mentioned in this commercial.

  • Terrorcons and Technobots [31]
Animation: Under the caption "New Special Teams" the camera closes in on a strange lava-like planet.
Toy segment: Lightspeed emerges from behind a rock formation in vehicle mode. He's driven forward until he runs into Hun-Gurrr! The camera pans to show Hun-Gurr flanked by the other Terrorcons, who move in and merge into Abominus, who towers over Lightspeed. But then the other Technobots appear and combine into Computron! The two combiners face off in a way that only barely mobile concotions of plastic can, before they dramatically clash!
Notes: This ad uses the same logo screen as the other 1987 adverts, but with a red field instead of blue. The narrator notes that there are no safe places on Cybertron as "lurking around any corner you can find a pack of evil Terrorcons" as Lightspeed runs into them. The ad is very much not taking place on Cybertron, however. Abominus is shown being formed in real time by the child hand models, but Computron is assembled in static cuts. Both combiners' arms wobble a lot when they're thrust against each at the end. The toys used in the ad are early prototypes lacking paint apps for the robot faces (including the combiner heads) and featuring light maroon plastic for Nosecone instead of the final dark brown.
Five primative Decepticons that team up to form the mighty Abomlabus!

  • Sparkabots and Firecons [32]
Kidmation: A young boy has his eyes closed. He's suddenly startled before the camera cuts to a close-up of his eye, within which the Transformers logo can be seen.
Toy segment: Fizzle rolls along in car form, sparking wildly. Sparkstalker does the same in monster mode, and is then seen in robot form. All six toys are then seen in their alt-modes for the final shot.
Notes: All the elements that had been constant in the UK commercials prior to this point - the use of the Transformers theme music, the narrator, the elaborate sets and so on - have now been abandoned. The earlier commercials are credited to the agencies Reeve Robertshaw Needham / Griffin Bacal, whereas those from 1988 are produced by Griffin Bacal only. Commercials from the first half of 1988 also have a completely different "Power to Surprise" jingle to their US counterparts.

Kidmation: Same as the Sparkabots/Firecons commercial.
Toy segment: Bubbling water dissolves to reveal the Seacons in their alt-modes. Piranacon is then shown.

Animation: Landmine, Cloudburst and Waverider burst from their Pretender shells.
Toy segment: The same Autobot figures are shown, with focus on Cloudburst's inner robot. Bomb-Burst is then removed from his Pretender shell before magic lightning animation hits Cloudburst's inner robot, instantly transforming him to his alt-mode. Chainclaw, Catilla and then Snarler are shown quickly before the outer shells and inner robots of Landmine, Waverider, Skullgrin and Submarauder are mindlessly mashed together in battle. Finally, a split-screen shows the six main Pretenders outer shells.
Notes: Made reusing elements from the American commercials.
And watch out for Pretender Beasts!
    • Pretenders [35] - VHS version. Same as above but without the Pretender strap-line on the final logo, which runs a few seconds longer.

Animation: Joyride and Getaway uniting with their Powermaster partners. Re-used from the American commercials.
Toy segment: Re-used from the American commercial.
Notes: The narration and music have again been re-recorded.

  • Powermaster Optimus Prime (short version) [37]
Animation: Powermaster Prime shooting at Darkwing and Dreadwind. Re-used from the American commercials.
Toy segment: Re-used from the American commercial.
Notes: Same re-recorded Powermaster music.
Optimus Prime's back! He's bigger, super Optimus Prime!

  • Powermaster Optimus Prime (long version) [38]
Animation: Extended piece of animation from the US Powermaster Prime commercial.
Toy segment: Powermaster Prime's various modes and his interaction with the accompanying Hi-Q figure are showcased.
Super Powermaster Optimus Prime, greatest leader of his time!

Animation: Snaptrap emerges from the ocean but is fired upon by [Quickswitch] ins his boat mode. Quickswitch then moves into the night sky and transforms into a gun wielded by Powermaster Optimus Prime.
Toy segment: Quickswitch's six modes are displayed in close-up in succession before being held by aloft by a child and magically cycling through each mode, with a handy counter, while the child asks, in a robotic voice, how quick you can do all six.
Notes: Quickswitch's name isn't used in the advert and he's simply referred to as "six-changer". His tank mode is called a "cruiser", while his hovercraft mode is erroneously referred to as his tank mode.
Sixchanger - the ultimate challenge!

  • Triggerbots and Triggercons [40]
Animation: In a faux comic book sequence, Joyride and Getaway are strafed by two Decepticon jets that are very much not in the Trigger-line.
Toy segment: A fast-paced montage of all the Triggerbots and Triggercons activating their pop-out weapons, overlaid in places with comic book style sound effects.
Notes: Only the term "Triggerbots" is used, not "Triggercons".
When Triggerbots battle, there's no doubt; they snap into action for a real shoot-out.

Animation: Powermaster Optimus Prime opens his hand to reveal the Race Car Patrol. Roadhandler, Swindler, Tailspin and Free Wheeler leap to the ground running and just start to transform before the animation ends.
Toy segment: A child grabs up the Off Road Patrol from by their shoe. Free Wheeler is driven along in vehicle mode before the Air Strike Patrol is shown in the palms of a kids hands. Storm Cloud is shown in close up in vehicle mode before transformed in robot mode. The Race Car Patrol are then shown appearing on their toy packaging, to demonstrate that they're sold in a group.
Notes: Storm Cloud has a gold painted face instead of the putrid green found on the released figure.
Small, fast fighting machines!

  • Micromaster Transports and Battle Stations [42]
Animation: Longtooth drives up a cliff(!) to reach Optimus Prime and excitedly ask him about Micromasters. Optimus opens his hand to reveal a city of Micromasters in his palm(!!).
Toy segment: Micromasters are shown moving around a complex of linked up transports and battle stations in base modes, before Erector's crane trailer is transformed. Reused footage from the US commercials.
Notes: New narration featuring the usual British narrator with an added "Micromasters" tagline on the logo end screen.
They're not just small, they're Transformers!

  • Micromaster Patrols [43]
Toy segment: The Construction Patrol move some dirt around before Trip-Up and Roller Force are driven past by the fingers of unseen children. Roller Force is then given a spotlight transformation. Finally, the Hot Rod Patrol, Race Track Patrol, Monster Trucks Patrol, Military Patrol, Air Patrol and Contruction Patrol drive into formation through the magic of stop motion animation, with the Hot Rods quickly transforming before the end logo.
Notes: The Transformers logo features the Micromaster tag line and the Autobot symbol with the swollen nose.
The only Micros that transform.

  • Action Master Vehicles [44]
Animation: The Attack Cruiser and Turbo Racer are bombed from the air by the Stratotronic Jet while driving on Cybertron.
Toy segment: The Autobot vehicles are shown alongside their drivers Wheeljack and Sprocket. The Turbo Racer is spotlighted transforming into its "attack mode". Prowl is then placed onto his Turbo Cycle before Over-Run is placed in the Attack Copter and its real working rotor blades are sent spinning. But Gutcruncher is put into the Stratotronic Jet, which converts into its Mobile Missile Base, manned by Devastator, Soundwave and Krok. Meanwhile Rollout and Optimus Prime are ready in the Armored Convoy, which rolls out before transforming into a scout jet and battle station, manned by Bumblebee, Snarl, Grimlock and others. To top things off, Prime kicks Starscream in the gut.
Notes: There's a lot of product crammed into this 30 second advert, but only Gutcruncher and Prime are namechecked. The toy scenes take place against a new Cybertronian cityscape backdrop. Devastator appears to be his traditional lime green rather than the more putrid yellow the figure was released in.
The most awesome battle station ever!

  • Transformers Classics Superion and Menasor [45]
Animation: Footage of Superion and Menasor forming is recut from the original US advert.
Toy segment: A photo montage shows off each Aerialbot in vehicle and robot mode before a stop-frame animation of Superion forming. Superion is then "flown" towards Motormaster in vehicle mode. A quick shot of each Stunticon in robot mode is glimpsed before Menasor and Superion face off. The ad ends on the familiar faction symbol smash resulting in the Transformers Classics logo.
The battle goes on!

  • Transformers Classics Dinobots and Triple-Changers [46]
Animation: Soundwave attacks Grimlock), Sludge and Slag. Separately, Astrotrain escapes Optimus Prime and some other Autobots. Both clips are taken from US ads.
Toy segment: The three Dinobots - Sludge, Snarl and Grimlock are shown in an impressively detailed swamp diorama. Grimlock is transformed. Astrotrain and Octane are then shown in a completely different rocky environment, with Octane's three modes demonstrated before Grimlock chomps down on Astrotrain. Astrotrain's three modes are shown off alongside Springer. The Dinobots are then shown again in their swampland, with a stop-motion animation shot of Snarl and Sludge transforming before Grimlock lunges at the camera and the logo saves us being eaten.
Notes: This ad feels decidedly like it's been bodged together from two different adverts, with only one tiny shot (in what seems to be otherwise brand new live action footage) linking the two different product groups. Slag appears in the recycled animation yet is absent in place of Snarl in the toy line-up. The toy footage of the Dinobots, especially the stop-motion shot, is excellent.
Look out: Dinobots!

  • Predators and Turbomasters [47]
Animation: The Transformers logo is electrified and emerges from a metal forge.
Toy segment: Skydive, Snare and Falcon fly across a rocky terrain where they encounter and fire their projectiles at Boss and Scorch who fire back. Flash and Hurricane also arrive and fire their missiles. Boss is transformed before there are various action close-ups of firing projectiles. Finally, Scorch is sent rolling and then lands in robot mode with a thud, moving his arm in stop-motion animation to fire upon Falcon. The Turbomasters and then Predators - now including Talon - are shown in group shots before the logo is shown again to close out the ad.
Notes: An elaborate stop-motion animation shot of Scorch transforming (which is found in the French version of the ad - see below) is cut down to just Scorch rolling in vehicle mode and then landing. It's hard to fathom why it was removed, as it's the big money shot of the advert. The time deficit for the cut is made up with a slightly longer opening animation of the Transformers logo compared to the French ad.
But look out! The heroic Autobots have new technology of their own!

  • Rotorstorm and Stalker [48]
Animation: The Transformers logo is electrified and emerges from a metal forge.
Toy segment: Helicopter blades whirling, Rotorstorm flies over the Turbomasters. His twin drop down cannons are shown before Stalker appears in tank mode. His cannon is removed by a child who looks into its Megavisor and sees a targeting picture of Rotorstorm! Stalker is manually transformed to robot mode but Rotorstorm transforms in glorious stop motion animation and shoots him down first.
Notes: The voice over artist repeatedly pronounces Rotorstorm's name as "Ro-to-storm". A POV shot of the missile fired at Stalker has been cut from the French version of the ad.
Watch out! It's the incredible Autobot Rotostorm!

  • Metrodome The Transformers: The Movie 20th Anniversary Edition DVD Preview [49]
Excerpts from The Transformers: The Movie and images of various Metrodome Transformers DVDs are shown as text narration overlays urge consumers to buy Metrodome's G1 boxsets and 20th Anniversary edition of The Transformers: The Movie

Generation 2

[edit]
  • Generation 2 - Optimus Prime & Megatron [50]
Animation: Same as the US version of Megatron's commercial, but edited - the shot of Prime's head as Megatron "locks on" is removed.
Toy segment: Cut-down footage of Megatron beating up Optimus and showcasing all his gimmicks from the US ad. Notably the whole "LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF DOOM" bit is removed, as are all the on-screen comic-book style sound effects. The Generation 2 cartoon theme music and Victor Caroli have both been replaced. Finally, the still shot of the toys at the end displays both Optimus and Megatron, rather than just the latter.
Notes: "Can Optimus Prime defeat his toughest enemy?"

Beast Era

[edit]
  • Optimus Primal and Megatron[51]
Animation: The Beast Wars logo is followed by the eye opening onto the toy footage.
Toy segment: Optimus Primal is shown in beast mode, hiding in some foliage. He is transformed to robot mode and fires his shoulder launchers at "Chief Predacon T-Rex". He is also then transformed to robot mode and menacingly flexes his claw before firing his hip launchers.
Notes: Text on the bottom of the screen discreetly cross-promotes the Beast Wars video game available on PC and Playstation.
Beast Wars: they'll bring out the beast in you!

Mathnaboss
Animation: The Beast Wars logo is followed by the iconic eye in triplicate, which each opens to reveal one of the members of Magnaboss.
Toy segment: Ironhide, Silverbolt and Prowl are in turn transformed from beast to robot mode and posed on a rocky set. They're then hastily combined into Magnaboss, who crashes through a pile of twigs. Magnaboss turns to be fired upon by a cameoing Tripredacus. The previous shot of the three Maximals in robot mode is repeated with graphics spelling out the combination of the three into Magnaboss.
Notes: Cross sell for the video game appears again.
Magnaboss vs Tripredacus: it's Beast Wars taken to the power of three!

  • Beast Wars on GMTV Easter Monday [53]
Notes: Clips from the Season 1 intro to Beast Wars are used to advertise its appearance (along with the :}}Big Bad Beetleborgs|) on GMTV's Easter Monday lineup.

  • Transmetal Optimus Primal and Megatron[54]
Animation: The Beast Wars eye opens on the full Transmetal logo.
Toy segment: Optimus Primals three modes are shown as he smashes some barrels in beast mode, surfs in vehicle mode and then transforms into robot mode. Megatron's beast and vehicle modes are shown and then transforms into robot mode, where he is then shot into some more barrels by Primal.
Notes: Toy footage is reused from the earlier North American advert.
It's a monstrous metal battle!

  • Optimal Optimus [55]
Animation: The Beast Wars eye opens on the original logo and a quick shot of Optimal Optimus from the animated series before appearing again to transition to the toy segment.
Toy segment: Recut from the American ad, Optimus has a mini-rampage in beast mode before all his mode are shown off and listed.
Notes: Despite the use of the sub-branding in the narration, the Transmetal logo is absent from the ad.
The biggest Transmetal ever, massive Optimus!

Animation: The Beast Wars eye opens on the original logo and a quick shot of Depth Charge from the animated series before appearing again to transition to the toy segment.
Toy segment: Recut from the American ad, Depth Charge's modes are listed off.
Notes: Despite the use of the sub-branding in the narration, the Transmetal logo is absent from the ad.
Heroic Depth Charge, a new force with three Transmetal modes!

Animation: The Beast Wars eye opens on the original logo and a quick shot of Rampage from the animated series before appearing again to transition to the toy segment.
Toy segment: Recut from the American ad, Rampage's modes are listed off.
Notes: Despite the use of the sub-branding in the narration, the Transmetal logo is absent from the ad.
Crazed robot!

  • Transmetal 2 Cheetor, Dinobot and Cybershark [58]
Animation: The Beast Wars eye opens on the standard logo.
Toy segment: The robot mode of each figure is shown in front of a raging explosion! Silent American children play with the toys, first showing off Cybershark's biting and tail actions and transformation. Dinobot's tail action callously knocks over some innocent prop barrels before he too transforms and uses his tail to knock Cybershark into more barrels. Cheetor appears, transforms and shoots Dinobot with his projectile weapon.
Notes: The Transmetal 2 branding is not used within the advert, nor is the term used in narration. The toy material is recut from the American advert, though married with a proper narrator.
Battling beasts that transform into raging robots!

  • Optimus Primal and Jetstorm [59]
Animation: Various clips from the Beast Machines animated series.
Toy segment: Deluxe class Jetstorm is proudly held aloft in jet mode by one kid in front of a horde of others in a school playground or similar. He wows them by dipping Jetstorm's nose and later very theatrically starting to transform him. Another kid holds aloft Deluxe Optimus Primal and transforms him before the two figures are made to fight for all to see.
Beast Machines: the war isn't over yet!

  • Beast Wars on Shake CGI Saturday [60]
Notes: Clips from Beast Wars are used to advertise its belated, first complete TV airing as part of Channel 5's Shake block circa 2004.

Robots In Disguise

[edit]
  • Prowl, Sideburn and X-Brawn [61]
Toy segment: Megatron, in his double-headed dragon mode, crashes down onto a bridge in a built up area. Side Burn, Prowl and X-Brawn are rolled past in the foreground. Side Burn is shown transforming to robot mode before being swooped past Megatron. Prowl and X-Brawn are each then shown in vehicle then robot mode and also swooped past Megatron. Finally, the whole trio are swooped towards Megatron, which seems to do the trick.
Notes: Each of the brothers has a line of dialogue as they attack Megatron. None of them sound like their animated series counterparts.
The heroic Autobots race in!

  • Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus [62]
Narration: Dan Russell.
Toy segment: Megatron destroys an industrial area of some sort, which apparently qualifies as 'all' to him. Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus roll in to save the day, but even their two-on-one numbers game isn't enough to take him down. So they combine into Omega Prime who finally puts a stop to Megatron.
Notes: Megatron has a few lines of dialogue provided by an unknown voice. One line at the end of the ad may be Omega Prime instead of Megatron. The voice sounds the same but the comment would make more sense coming from Omega Prime as he knocks down Megatron when it's uttered.

  • 2007 Robots In Disguise DVD Boxsets [63]
A Megatron-soundalike proclaims "We are back" while clips of the series play.

  • Transformers “Legend” Promo-Jetix 2007 [64]
Narration: Unknown
Clips from various Transformers Robots In Disguise episodes, with the song Acceptable In The 80s by Calvin Harris in the Background, as part of the now defunct children’s TV channel, Jetix.

Unicron Trilogy

[edit]
  • Hot Shot and Demolishor [65]
Animation: Stock footage of Hot Shot's transformation is taken from the cartoon.
Toy segment: Reused from the American ad, Jolt powers up Hot Shot, before Demolishor gains multiple Mini-Cons.
Notes: The end splash also shows Laserbeak and Cyclonus, who aren't named or particularly featured in this version of the ad.

  • Armada Optimus Prime [66]
Animation: Stock footage of Optimus Prime's super mode transformation from the cartoon. The Armada logo is also rendered in CGI with a flamethrower appearing on top and firing to create a shot transition.
Toy segment: Optimus Prime is shown in small robot mode, using his base. Leader-1 and Drill Bit are attached to Megatron who is in his tank mode. A child is shown transforming Optimus Prime to his vehicle mode before driving it along a field of fake snow. We're then shown Prime's trailer in base mode, with a few Mini-Cons strewn around it and then his combined super robot mode. Optimus's transformation from cab to robot mode is shown in split screen with the trailer's auto-transformation. The two parts of Prime are shoved together to complete the super robot mode.
Notes: Drill Bit appears to have more yellow parts on him than his retail release.
Now Optimus Prime is ready for action!
  • Armada Optimus Prime [67] - features cross-sell for DVDs in Woolworths at the end.

  • Rhinox, Hoist and Terrorsaur [68]
Toy segment: Rhinox is shown in beast mode and "powered up" when Armorhide is attached to him. Hoist rolls in and rakes up some random pebbles with his scoop action. Terrorsaur swoops in before he and Rhinox are shown being transformed in a photo montage. The ad closes with shots of each figure in robot mode.
Notes: The Armada logo is subtitled "The Unicron Battles". This is (probably) the only ad on UK TV for Rhinox and Terrorsaur figures. Terrorsaur's beast mode is heavily mistransformed around the legs, giving him an almost Gerwalk mode.
Let the Unicron Battles commence!

  • Transformers Armada on video and DVD with free toy [69]
Clips from episodes of Transformers Armada before a package shot of the VHS and DVD release with Perceptor's various forms cycling through in front.

  • Transformers Energon [70]
Narration: An impressively coherent summary is given of the plot of the animated series.
Toy segment: Megatron, Unicron and Power Linx Optimus Prime are featured, interspersed with clips from the series.
Only the heroic Autobots can stop the Decepticons from sucking Earth dry.

  • Optimus Prime and Superion Maximus [71]
Animation: The Energon logo, faction symbols and the Powerlinx symbol are rendered in elaborate CGI, with a Cybernet Space Cube style frame present through the advert. A brief snippet of the animated series, showing unrelated characters running, is used near the end for reasons passing understanding.
Toy segment: Optimus is shown in his super mode in a turnaround. We're then presented all five components of Superion Maximus in vehicle mode, all helpfully labelled with their names. Sky Shadow is transformed to robot mode and placed in front of the others now also in robot mode. He's then attached to the now otherwise fully combined Superion Maximus. A finale shot shows the combiner alongside for a slightly misleading sense of scale.
Five air team jets with the power to transform and to combine into the incredible Superion Maximus!

Animation: Clips of Omega Supreme transforming taken from the Energon animated series are shown.
Toy segment: A kid transformers Omega Supreme and has him punch out Megatron.
A Transformer of such awesome size and power, no Decepticon can stop him!

The true war awaits.
  • Energon and My Little Pony McDonalds Happy Meal promotion [73]
Animation: A robot transformers into a Happy Meal box and then shuffles off-screen.
Toy segment: A quartet of children very excited to be getting fast food transform into tornadoes and leap into a Happy Meal box. The girls find themselves in a My Little Pony forest while the boys are in an arid, alien moon. The Happy Meal toys for Optimus Prime, Megatron and Ironhide are shown off, intercut with the Ponies, before they all come together to enjoy the delicious flavour of a Happy Meal. Finally, Megatron and one of the Ponies face off.
Notes: Despite jumping into the same box, the children are separated by sex for the two different promotions.
Then she combs her hair with -- Ironhide!

  • Dark Crumplezone, Downshift and Evac [74]
Toy segment: Dark Crumplezone is shown wielding a Cyber Key. He is then transformed into vehicle and the Cyber Key inserted into his rear to show off his flip out weapon upgrades. "Driven" along a road, Dark Crumplezone is pursued by Downshift and Evac. Downshift careers through a hard shoulder but transforms to robot mode and is rescued by Evac and proceeds to shoot the Cyber Key out of Dark Crumplezone.
Notes: Crumplezone is referred to throughout as "Dark Crumplezone" as though that's his full name rather than dark being an adjective.
Only Transformers change change defeat... into victory!

  • Star Wars Transformers Obi-Wan and Darth Vader [75]
Toy segment: After the Star Wars logo and some clips from the original movies, a TIE Advanced fighter is shown alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter robot form. The Tie Advanced is transformed into Darth Vader and the two robot Jedi have a lightsaber fight. Obi-Wan is then transformed into his vehicle mode and strafes Vader with missile fire.
Notes: Although the Transformers name is mentioned and the logo briefly appears, it's all very much subservient to the Star Wars branding.

  • Star Wars Transformers Han Solo, Chewbacca and Boba Fett [76]
Toy segment: Slave-1 is shown transforming into Boba Fett. But the Millennium Falcon splits and transforms into Han Solo and Chewbacca. Han shoots first and takes out Fett.

Transformers Animated

[edit]
  • Roll Out Command Optimus Prime [77]
Notes: Very similar to the American spot, but doesn't point out Megatron's sound gimmick and additionally features Leader Bulkhead

Live Action Movie Era

[edit]
  • Burger King Transformer 6-pack [78]
A guy returns to the kitchen table to find one his Transformer 6-pack burgers gone. His friend responds to being accused of the theft by blaming it on the washing machine, claiming "its door changed into a giant claw and it devoured it in one swoop." Right. The man is not swayed. The friend tries further persuasion: "It's plotting massive destruction." <washing machine kicks into high gear> "Oh no...IT'S COMING BACK FOR MORE!"

  • Transformers Battle Card Collection [79]
The narrator talks about the Battle Card Collection packs while various cards have their illustrations animated.

  • Burger King King Nuggets [80]
A family is sitting down to eat inside a Burger King restaurant. The father ponders what his King Nuggets must taste like as his wife scoffs at the notion that they'll be anything out of the ordinary. The father sets up his drink and opens his nuggets and dipping sauce, accompanied by mechanical and technological sound effects. He then chews his nuggets, the sound of his chewing resembling a hammer pounding an anvil. His wife attempts to grab a nugget, but he blocks her with mechanical precision. This prompts a reprimand from his wife: Grow up!

  • Transformers: Prime on CN Too [81]
Numerous clips from Transformers: Prime looped and/or synchronized to the song ":}}Gangnam Style|". Of particular note is the use of a shot of Optimus Prime turning to face the camera and speaking. It has been altered to give him shades a la :}}Psy| in the song's video and is synched to the "Oppa Gangnam Style!" refrain.

Various clips from Transformers: Age of Extinction are shown as the announcer tells us that Lynx (also known as Axe) has upgraded and to celebrate they're giving away an amazing trip to Hong Kong to see the film's premiere. The viewer is then directed to MTV's UK website to enter.

Animation: The Transformers logo turns into an Autobot logo. Clips of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee driving from Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Narration: Unknown.
Toy segment: Two boys play with the track set on a floor with a wooden appearance, in front of some neon lights and white boxes.

Have I ever told you about the time I ripped a Decepticon's face in half? Ah, the good old days.
  • Direct Line: Optimus Prime's Time Off [84]
Optimus offers to help tow some humans' cars after a wreck, but is informed that they're covered by :}}Direct Line|. At their suggestion, Optimus decides to take some time off, picking up a hitchhiker and going on a road trip across the United Kingdom.

France

[edit]

France got dubs of the US commercials for their Generation 1 advertising. While most were straight dubs, some spots re-ordered the US footage while others combined footage from multiple US commercials. Bizarrely, the new audio tracks for the Pretender, Micromaster, Action Master, and Classics commercials were largely composed of a bright, upbeat tune better suited to an 80's chewing gum commercial, if not for the Transformers-specific lyrics. Generation 2 commercials kept the "late G1 logo/robotic voice" intro from the 1992 and 1993 commercials.

1985

[edit]
Notes: Uses several clips re-ordered from the US commercial. Features no on-screen graphics, relying on a final shot of the boxed figure to display the Transformers logo. Features music that is based on but distinct to the standard G1 theme.

Notes: Uses the "blur-transformation" footage of Megatron from the 1984 US commercial, but ads in close-up shots of his transformation, presumably shot for but ultimately not used in the US. As with the Optimus Prime ad, it includes no on-screen graphics and uses a boxed shot of Megatron to display the Transformers logo and features unique music.

1986

[edit]
  • Optimus Prime and Megatron [94]
Notes: A dubbed, 20 second edit of the 1984 US commercial, removing all the animation and the child close-up. Features a French language version of the G1 theme. Ends with a faction symbol transition imposed over a shot of a rub-sign followed another faction symbol transition over fragmentary clip from the animated series of the two forces flying behind the mountain, and finishes with the electrified logo from the 1986 US commercials.

  • Decepticon Planes and Blaster [95]
Notes: Combines footage from the US commercials: Autobot Cars and Decepticon Planes (1984) and Blaster (1985). Features the same hybrid closing as previous advert.

Notes: A dubbed, 20 second edit of the US commercial, removing most of the animated sequence, the child, the final box shot and the animated Hasbro logo. Ends with the same hybrid logo from the previous advert.

Notes: A dubbed cut down of the 1985 Insecticons and Swoop US commercial, removing the child close-up, about half the animation and all trace of the existence of Swoop. Swoop is replaced with footage of Grimlock taken from the 1985 US Dinobots commercial.

Notes: Footage is the same as the US Jumpstarters commercial, but edited down from 30 seconds to 20 and minus the Hasbro "hammer" logo at its conclusion.

  • Blitzwing & Springer [99]
Notes: Combines animation and Blitzwing toy footage from the US Triple Changers and Perceptor commercial, along with toy footage from the US Springer and Wreck-Gar commercial. Neither of the toys featured appear in the animation, which must have seemed odd to viewers.

Notes: A dubbed version of the UK ad.

1987

[edit]
Who called this meeting?
  • Aerialbots, Protectobots, Stunticons and Combaticons [101]
Notes: Combines animation from the US Aerialbots and Stunticons commercial with toy footage from the UK New Teams advert. Ends with just the electrified Transformers logo, now with an added Hasbro logo.

  • Duocons and Throttlebots [102]
Notes: Dubbed version of the UK commercial.

  • Autobot Heroes - Rodimus Prime and Wreck-Gar [103]
Notes: Dubbed version of the UK commercial, albeit using the French version of the funky synthesized hand-clap-laden arrangement of the music from 1986.

Animation: Decepticon version of the logo/smash animation shatters to reveal the planet Nebulos.
Toy segment: Highbrow in helicopter mode is seen flying past Skullcruncher before coming in for a landing next to his Autobot Headmaster comrades. He's transformed and his Headmaster is given focus before being connected to his robot mode body. The robot modes of all the Headmasters are then shown in group shots by faction.
Notes: Created from the same footage used for the UK advert, with the same on-screen graphics.

Notes: French dub of the UK advert. Omits a shot showing the Targetmaster being repeatedly placed into the main robot's hand.

  • Predacons and Sky Lynx [106]
Animation: The Predacons transform, combine into Predaking and then fly at the screen. Reused from the US Predacons vs Dinobots commercial.
Toy segment: Using footage from the aforementioned commercial, the Predacons are shown in turn before, through the magic of mid-80s TV effects, the screen whirls around and they combine into Predaking. Next, footage is used from the US commercial of Sky Lynx, showing off his various modes before he verrrry slowwwwwwly mechanically walks forward to bite Predaking's chest.
Notes: Ends with the US electrified logo again. The air date given by INA is 1st Dec 1987.

  • Optimus Prime and Galvatron [107]
Animation: Sideswipe, Jazz and Prowl transform to robot mode and fly past a cliff, from which Optimus Prime drives off and also transforms. Taken from the by now ancient initially 1984 US commercials.
Toy segment: More reused footage of Prime from his original commercial. This then segues into a brief bit of toy footage of Galvatron taken from the US Ultra Magnus vs Galvatron commercial.
Notes: Ends with the US electrified logo. INA's air date is 1st Dec 1987, meaning the front half of this advert is three years old (well, two in France) by this point.

1988

[edit]
  • Sparkabots and Firecons [108]
Notes: Opens with the revolving asteroid shot from the US Headmaster commercials before moving into toy footage used in the US Seacons, Sparkabots and Firecons commercial (including the on-screen comic book style sound effects) and the UK Sparkabots and Firecons advert, yet longer than both. Ends on the new for 1988 faction symbol smash logo, though it replays the smash effect, for reasons best known only to the French.

Notes: A 20 second edit of the US Pretenders commercial, removing the human child and CGI robot. And also the shot where Landmine clearly falls out of his shell upon being opened. Again opens with the revolving asteroid and ends with the double symbol smash logo.

Notes: A 20 second edit of the US Powermasters commercial, removing the kidmation and the comic book elements of the animation. Opens again with the revolving asteroid and ends with the double symbol smash logo.

1989

[edit]
Notes: A frenetic 20 second edit of the US Micromaster Patrols commercial. This ad sees the debut of the bizarrely super-chill jingle that'll be used across most French Transformers ads for the remainder of G1, which is completely at odds with the fast-paced editing of this ad. The symbol smash logo remains, but the two collisions have now been split across the advert.

  • Pretender Beasts & Pretender Vehicles [112]
Notes: A 20 second edit of the US Pretender Beast and Vehicles commercial. For the first time, a scrap of US kidmation makes it to France, with the final robotic face of the American child in question briefly being visible at the start of the advert.
Le Pretenders Trans-for-mers!

Notes: A 20 second edit of the US Classic Pretenders commercial. The main removals are all trace of Optimus Prime from the animation, but the character names are also blanked out from the on-screen graphics.

Notes: A super-chill 20 second mash-up of the Battle Station elements of the US Micromaster Transports and Battle Stations commercial with the US commerical for the Micro Bases.

1990

[edit]
  • Micromaster Combiners [115]
Notes: A 20 second edit of the US commercial for the Micromaster Combiners and Combiner Transports. The symbol smash logo has given way to the new for 1990 transforming Transformers logo, which likewise gets two appearances in the advert. The super-chill jingle remains.

  • Micromaster Battlefield Headquarters [116]
Toy segment: A kid rolls the Headquarters in truck mode along some barren terrain with a few trees in the distance. Overflow and Full-Barrel are removed from the back of the truck. The kid is amazed to find the truck-mode Headquarters splits in half, before transforming the two components. This is followed by a stop motion sequence of the two components transforming. As they transform, the Micromaster Combiners drive out of the rear component, with Overflow staying behind and Full-Barrel continuing to the other component.
Notes: This marks the first instance of a Transformers product receiving an advert in France but not the US. It will not be the last.

Notes: A 20 second edit of the US Action Masters commercial. This is mainly achieved by removing almost all of the animation and shots of the Action Master Vehicles. If you thought the super-chill French jingle was odd before, just wait til you see it over the CGI Action Master branded first punching through a wall! As with the US commercials, these Action Master adverts use the branded fist in place of the transforming logo seen on the Micromaster adverts.

  • Action Master Vehicles [118]
Notes: Combines re-used toy segment footage from the main US Action Master commercial and the US commercial forWheeljack, Sprocket and Gutcruncher commercial along with (apparently) new toy segment footage of Megatron and his Neutro-Fusion Tank.

1991

[edit]
  • Classics Protectobots and Combaticons [119]
Toy segment: The Protectobots are shown together in vehicle mode. Blades is picked up and transformed, then the entire group flashes from vehicle to robot to Defensor. Blast Off receives the same treatment as Blades. Stop motion segment has Bruticus already combined while the Protectobots drive up one by one and form Defensor next to him.
Notes: The transforming logo is retained from the non-Action Master adverts of 1990.

  • Classics Astrotrain & Springer [120]
Animation: Re-used from the US Perceptor & Triple Changers commercial
Toy segment: Astrotrain flies around in robot mode. Springer converts to helicopter mode, takes off, then transforms to robot mode. Both toys then flash between their modes.
Notes: Only took five years, but French audiences finally get to see animation of Astrotrain advertising the Astrotrain toy.

Toy segment: Grimlock, Sludge, and Snarl amble around in a swamp. Astrotrain swoops in only to be chomped like Thrust. Grimlock is transformed by hand to robot mode. All three Dinobots transform to dinosaur mode via stop motion.

WORST. CHASE. EVER.
Toy segment: Circuit drives along as Thundercracker flys overhead. Both transform their vehicles into exo-suits before using them in battle. Rumbler and Slicer roll along, transform their vehicles into exo-suits, then continue to roll along in their exo-suits.
Notes: Appears to use the same diorama as the US Action Master commercials. Keeps the "smashing fist" intro. The first French advert for a Transformers toy never released in the US.

Toy segment: Overlord's plane section flies by a rocky plateau on which his tank half pulls up. The tank is split open and we see his base mode. He then transforms into his robot mode. A Breastmaster is inserted into his, well, breast, unveiling his flip out cannon. Overlord is shown standing tall in a desolate, arid landscape.

1992

[edit]
Toy segment: The Predators take aim at the Turbo Masters. But the Turbo Masters transform and fire back. Stop motion segment has Scorch tumbling in vehicle mode then transforming.
Notes: The Predators and Turbomasters are referred to as "Scopemasters" and "Cannonmasters". The new Euro-exclusive logo debuts this year. It is seen being electrified into existence on top of a microchip. The super-chill music of the past few years makes way for some less distinctive but (arguably!) more appropriate music. "Transformers!" is announced over the new logo in a very 1950s sci-fi robot voice.

  • Rotorstorm & Stalker [125]
Toy segment: Rotorstorm swoops over the Turbo Masters then fires one of his missiles. Stalker drives along before a kid removes his cannon and demonstrates his scope gimmick. Stalker is transformed followed by Rotorstorm stop motion transforming. Stalker is felled by a missile fired by Rotorstorm.

  • Skyquake & Thunder Clash [126]
Toy segment: Skyquake spots Thunder Clash using his scope and proceeds to engage in a bombing run. Thunder Clash transforms and fires at Skyquake from his base. Skyquake transforms via stop motion.
Notes: Unlike other French spots, which use an adult, most of the narration is done by a child.

1993

[edit]
Toy segment: The Skyscorchers fly among buildings before seeing the Axelrators on the road below. The Skyscorchers land and stop motion transform only to be met by the stop motion transforming Axelerators.
Notes: Stop motion transformations for everyone! Except Turbofire. Features an end tag advertising Overlord. The 1992 branding carries over to this year.

Toy segment: The Stormtroopers race around, firing their water cannons. But the Aquaspeeders are en route. Speedstream and Deluge get hit, changing their colors. Speedstream and Jetstorm transform and fire on Aquablast and Drench. The two teams face-off with Aquablast, Rage, Deluge and Aquafend driving up and transforming in stop motion animation.
Notes: At least one of the Aquaspeeders gets a speaking line. The second line and third lines could belong to a second Aquaspeeder. A special dripping effect is used on the logo screen at the start of the ad.

Toy segment: The Lightformers and Trakkon's head towards each other. Ironfist transforms and takes aim at the Trakkon's with laser beam special effects representing his gimmick. Pyro rolls along and takes aim at Clench, thus violating everything he stands for. Clench transforms and rightfully fires back.

1994

[edit]
  • Laser Rods & Rotor Force [130]
Notes: A 20 second edit of the American Laser Rods and Rotor Force commercial. Sadly, no French rapping is to be found. This version also drops the very on-fashion mid-90s black and white flash-frames of the names, found in the US version, to the comfort of all French epileptics. The branding from the past two years is largely retained, just with the name Generation 2 chucked in.

  • Combat Hero Prime & Megatron [131]
Notes: A 20 second edit of the US commercial, which removes most of the end CGI animation and all of the rapping.

Notes: Dubbed and edited down from the American version. Scenes re-ordered as well. Still no rapping.

  • G2 Optimus Prime & Megatron [133]
Notes: Another 20 second edit of the American commercial. The voice box clips have been dubbed as well, though Megatron's is merely the same line spoken with a French accent. The INA's archive lists the air date for this as 14th November 1994, putting it and Dreadwing as the last of the year's adverts, but this may simply be the date of transmission for the off-air recording from which the INA archived their copy, rather than it's definite first air date.

1995

[edit]
Hasbro France failed art class.
Notes: A 30 second infomercial presenting a "buy 2 Go-Bots, call this number and get a 3rd for free!" promotion. It's not specified which Go-Bot is given out for the promotion.

1997

[edit]
  • Waspinator and Cheetor [135]
Animation: Clips from the animated series largely favouring Waspinator and Cheetor, along with a much lower quality "Ani-Mutant" title card.
Toy segment: Reused footage from the US Cheetor vs Waspinator commercial, generously interspliced with cartoon footage.
Notes: The Beast Wars name appears above that of Ani-Mutants for the first instance, but is dropped through the rest of the ad. This is possibly a sop to the bi-lingual packaging used in France (and across Europe) that would have carried both names. The first five seconds of the ad is a boilerplate precise of the line's premise, used across multiple ads and explains the unusual 25 running time. Cross-sell cameos for Megatron (T-Rex), Razorbeast, Megatron (gator) and Tarantulas appear below the featured figures on a plain white screen.

  • Ultra Megatron and Optimus Primal [136]
Animation: A short clip from the animated series is in the boiler plate, but beyond that nothing.
Toy segment: Reused footage from the US Megatron vs Optimus Primal commercial.
Notes: Cross-sell cameos for Snapper, Armordillo and Rhinox.

  • Scorponok and Polar Claw [137]
Animation: The standard shot of the Maximals from the animated series, plus a quick shot of Scorponok.
Toy segment: Reused footage from the US commercial.
Notes: Cross-sell cameos for Wolfang, Insecticon and Dinobot.

1998

[edit]
  • Basic Maximals and Predacons [138]
Animation: Excerpts of the Predacon and Maximal lineups, Megatron speaking, Terrorsaur flying and Rattrap running from Beast Wars (Part 2), plus an excerpt of Optimus Primal saying "Maximize!" from Beast Wars (Part 1).
Toy segment: Armordillo, Insecticon, Snapper, Rattrap, Razorbeast and Terrorsaur all transform in a jungle cliff type area. Razorbeast and Insecticon subsequently engage in battle.
Notes: A much more polished advert than last year's offerings, with the Beast Wars eye animated around the logo, more use of dialogue from the cartoon and better closing shots of the figures.

  • Inferno vs Cybershark [139]
Animation: An animated version of Cybershark emerging from the water is largely hidden under the Animutants logo. Also a short clip of Inferno.
Toy segment: Reused from the US Cybershark vs Inferno commercial.
Notes: Cross-sell cameos for Tarantulas, Waspinator, Rhinox and a horrifically mistranformed Grimlock.

  • B'Boom vs Transquito [140]
Animation: Budget CGI animation of B'Boom and Transquito fighting briefly appears. It probably cost more than your car to make that.
Toy segment: Recycled from the US commercial, B'Boom and Transquito take turns firing missiles at each other.

  • Magnaboss vs Tripredacus [141]
Animation: A budget CGI fight between the two combiners.
Toy segment: Recycled from the US commercial.

1999

[edit]
  • Silverbolt vs Sky Shadow [142]
Toy segment: Reused from the US commercial, but largely omitting Injector. 'Sall politics.

  • Deluxe and Mega class Transmetals [143]
Toy segment:Tarantulas drives past Megatron in a dead forest. He drives up a hill and transforms in front of a full moon...into his robot mode, duh. Optimus Primal stop motion transforms to robot mode. Cheetor and Rattrap sit atop a couple rocks. Cheetor transforms and battles Tarantulas.
Notes: The glorious return of stop motion animation! A surprising lack of animated series clips given all these characters appear in it in these forms.

Animation: Excerpts from the Beast Wars cartoon showing Optimus transforming from plane mode to robot mode, deploying his shoulder guns, flying and shooting, and revving in car mode.
Toy segment: Optimal Optimus stomps Transmetal Terrorsaur, knocks over various objects, and demonstrates his features and modes. The animation segments are interleaved throughout to illustrate the scenes kids can recreate.

  • Transmetal Optimus Primal and Megatron [145]
Animation: A few brief clips from the animated series.
Toy segment: Recycled from the US commercial, Primal and Megatron fight amongst a lot of conveniently stacked barrels that you won't be able to buy in a toy shop near you.
Notes: The Transmetal branding is not used on screen.

  • Rampage vs Depth Charge [146]
Animation: One brief clip from the animated series appears near the end.
Toy segment: Recycled from the US commercial.

Le crab attack!

[edit]
  • Transmetal 2 toys: Cybershark vs Dinobot [147]
Animation: None.
Toy segment: The Cybershark and Dinobot II segments of the US Transmetal 2 Deluxes and Megas ad.
Notes: There's at least one shot where a kid in the ad is quite clearly saying something that is just silent under the French dub.

  • Transmetal 2 toys: Cybershark vs Cheetor [148]
Animation: None.
Toy segment: The Cybershark and Cheetor segments of the US Transmetal 2 Deluxes and Megas ad.
Notes: The footage is cut to have Cybershark and Cheetor fighting each other for reasons unknown.

  • Jetstorm, Nightscream and Cheetor [149]
Animation: Various clips from Beast Machines.
Toy segment: Recycled from the US commercials, various kids show off transforming their chosen TF to the crowd.
Notes: That poor kid who has to try and look pleased with Supreme Cheetor.

  • Transformers on Mangas [150]
An advertisement for the french TV network Mangas showing the various anime and anime-ish programs they were airing. In addition to The Transformers, Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque (Knights of the Zodiac), Patlabor, One Piece and Saiyuki are shown.

Notes: A heavily edited version of the US commercial. Features an end tag for a special offer involving Megatron and Robots in Disguise super mode Prowl.

Notes: Short ten second ads featuring game footage of Tidal Wave, Megatron and one of three Autobots: Hot Shot, Red Alert and Optimus Prime.

Notes: A montage of video game footage with sections for each of the three playable Autobots.

Notes: A more general montage of video game footage.

Germany

[edit]
  • Powermaster Optimus Prime [167]
Animation: Optimus Prime firing at Dreadwind and Darkwing. Re-used from the US Powermaster Optimus Prime & Doubledealer commercial.
Kidmation: Re-used from the same US ad as the animation.
Toy segment: Re-used from the same US ad as the animation.
Notes: This ad is a straight dub of the Powermaster Optimus Prime half of the aforementioned US commercial.

  • Triggerbots and Triggercons [168]
Animation: The very tail end of the animation from the US Powermaster ads, showing Dreadwind and Darkwing firing at Joyride and Getaway.
Toy segment: Re-used footage from the US Triggerbots and Triggercon ads with some changes: Windsweeper and Backstreet's gun flips are repeated and the confrontation between Ruckus and Backstreet and Override is slightly longer. A shot of Quickswitch being "flown" in robot mode has been added for no apparent reason.
Notes: Maintains the US "Transformers. They've got the power to surprise!" jingle.

  • Action Master Vehicles (Prowl, Starscream and Override [169]
Animation: Megatron points at Starscream who jumps onto his transforming Turbo Jet. Starscream then lands the jet.
Toy segment: Re-used footage from the US ad for the same toys.
Notes: Does not use the smashing fist intro. The animation of Starscream landing the Turbo Jet is re-used from the American ad. The animation prior to that appears to have been created at the same time as other animation segments used for the US Action commercials, as well as intended to precede the landing segment, but for whatever reason was not used in the US commercials.

  • Action Master Optimus Prime [170]
Animation: Optimus Prime, re-used from the American Action Masters commercials.
Toy segment: Optimus Prime drives and transforms his transport in what appears to be the same set used for the American Action Master commercials.
Notes: Does not use the "smashing fist" intro.

  • Classic Transformers [171]
Animation: Re-used footage, from the US 1985 Autobot Cars commercial, of Smokescreen, Tracks, Inferno, Hoist, Red Alert and Grapple rolling into battle and transforming.
Toy segment: On a rocky set reminiscent of the 1986/87 commercials, Jazz is transformed step by step. He's then seen next to Sunstreaker and both instantly convert from car to robot. Ironhide and Prowl do the same. Finally, Inferno does a stop-motion transformation from fire truck to robot, as Jazz and Sunstreaker pull up in their car forms.
Notes: The use of the ill-fitting 1985 Autobot Cars animation may possibly be unique to the German version of the ad.

I CAN'T HAS CHEEZBURGER?
Animation: Really quick snippets of Overlord's eyes glowing, Overlord transforming to robot mode, his two Energon figures plugging into his chest and Overlord splitting into his two vehicle components.
Toy segment: Overlord is shown in his various modes.
  • Thunder Clash & Skyquake [173]
Toy segment: Skyquake and Thunder Clash face off, same as the French version.

Italy

[edit]

Generation 1

[edit]
  • Excavators (Constructicons) [180]
Animation: Re-used from the American ad.
Kidmation: Mushroom bob-haired kid.
Toy segment: Re-used from the American ad.
Notes: The static shot has been changed from the American version.

  • Pentacar and Pentajet (Stunticons and Aerialbots) [181]
Animation: Re-used from the American ad.
Kidmation: Re-used from the American ad.
Toy segment: The Aerialbots fly through the sky while the Stunticons race outside a city. The two teams transform and combine.

  • Commander (Optimus Prime) e Convoy (Ultra Magnus) [182]
Animation: Optimus Prime rolling down from a mountain, taken from "More than Meets the Eye, Part 2"
Kidmation: Red haired kid.
Toy segment: Optimus Prime falls from above (making it look like it's a continuation of the animated segment) and follows Ultra Magnus, who is passing on the road carrying Jazz, Sideswipe, Red Alert and Hound. Optimus Prime transforms turning his trailer into the Combat Deck. Ultra Magnus does the same, and the Autobots he was carrying drive away, except for Sideswipe who takes a brief stop in Optimus's Combat Deck. Optimus and Ultra Magnus transform back and drive, until they stop and the toy boxes materialize over them.
Notes: Yes, this is a full US-styled commercial that was entirely made in Italy.

  • Multiforce (Bruticus) [183]
Toy segment: The Combaticons drive through a rocky desert before transforming and combing into Bruticus. Bruticus turns and punches the plastic film screen, "breaking it". The concept of rubsigns is emphasized by showing a rubsign on Bruticus's chestplate.

Toy segment: The Protectobots answer to an alert call, combine into Defensor and stop two falling skyscrapers from clashing on eachother. Rubsign and tech specs are called out, as in the Bruticus commercial.
Notes: Features the same cover of the Transformers theme as the Bruticus commercial.

  • Transformers contest [185]
Notes: The commercial is for an Italian contest that allowed kids to win a toy car by sending in Robot Points.

  • Transformers contest winner [186]
it:}}Fabrizio Bracconeri|, an Italian actor who had his prime with some comedy TV shows in the 80's and was also in multiple GiG commercials back then, interviews the winner of the above contest and his dad.

Kidmation: Kid to generic Ultra Magnus robot (recycled from American commercials)
Toy segment: Predacons are shown dwelling in an underground base in the middle of the desert, with numerous manholes to get through. Someone throws fireballs inside the base, prompting the Predacons to transform, get out, deflect the fireballs with their swords and combine into Predaking.
Notes: The commercial is soundtracked by a cover of the theme song, sung by a man and a woman together and lacking most of the words except for "Transformers!"

  • Guardian (Metroplex) [188]
Kidmation: Kid to generic Ultra Magnus robot (recycled from American commercials)
Toy segment: Metroplex lays in a "space desert" (as the narrator calls it). Scamper comes out from it. Unseen enemies shoot lasers at it, so Metroplex transforms to battle station mode to answer to the enemy fire. When they're all gone, Metroplex turns into robot mode.
Notes: Features the same cover of the Transformers theme as the Predaking commercial.

Kidmation: Kid to generic Ultra Magnus robot (recycled from American commercials)
Toy segment: Trypticon is frozen solid inside a giant ice mountain. An earthquake allows him to come out, but he's instantly assaulted by a swarm of freeze rays. Trypticon turns into base mode and answers to the attack, sending Full-Tilt out in the process.
Notes: Same theme cover in the background as usual.

  • Duoform (Decepticon Clones) [190]
Toy segment: One clone is created from the other in a lab. Stop motion segment of the clones in their alternate modes.
Notes: The narration presents the Clones as an experiment made in order to create an immortal Transformer.

  • Racerbots (Throttlebots) [191]
Toy segment: The Throttlebots shoot out from their boxes and race around before transforming.
Notes: The end of the commercial shows the toys being sold twenty-four to a display case.

Toy segment: Only Doublecross and Grotusque are shown. Both toys stand in their alternate modes throwing off enough sparks to qualify as fireworks. They move around a bit in stop motion, still sparking like crazy. Finally, they transform.

  • Leaderbots (Autobot Headmasters) [193]
Notes: Dubbed version of the American ad up to and including the kidmation. New static shot follows the kidmation. Due to the footage being recycled from the American ad, the Decepticon Headmasters end up making a brief appearance before the new static shot... except that they were never released in Italy. Whoops.

Toy segment: The Technobots, Terrorcons, Constructicons, Combaticons, , Aerialbots, and Protectobots transform and combine, one team at a time. Footage of the Combaticons, Protectobots and Aerialbots is reused from previous commercials.

  • Combiners and Decoys [195]
A kid walks into an extremely small toy store which apparently sells only Transformers. He asks the shopkeeper, who bears more than a passing resemblance to :}}Ed Wynn|, about one of the combiner giftsets. The shopkeeper is overjoyed about this and starts to talk about the set when suddenly the giftsets come to life. The brave shopkeeper ducks down behind the desk, his head only popping up to see what's happening while the kid just looks on excitedly. The giftsets are shown with a ton of decoys in front. The decoys' customization potential is demonstrated by showing blue paint applied to the chest of an Optimus Prime decoy. The decoys then wander into their packaging which becomes applied to the box of a Bruticus giftset. The package slides out of frame to reveal the shopkeeper, no longer in hiding, covered in the decoys.
Stupendi, stupendi!

  • Horrorbot (Horrorcons) [196]
Notes: Redubbed from the American ad. Features a new static shot at the end to show the Italian boxes.

  • Scorpion (Scorponok) [197]
Notes: Redubbed from the American ad. There's also a shortened version, with a very blatant cut from the "Scorponok in base mode on the cliff" scene to the "Kid shows that Scorponok is bigger than Computron" scene. Final shot is changed to show the Italian version of the box.

Notes: Redubbed from the American Sixshot ad. While the dialogue in the animated segment and the narrator's lines are translated correctly from the English version, the kids' lines are completely different: "Winged wolf phase!" "Laser gun phase!" "Missile phase!" Again, final shot now shows the Italian version of the box.

Toy segment: Each of the three Autobot Pretenders is shown in stop motion exiting their shells, equipping their weapon and transforming to vehicle mode.
Note: Landmine and Waverider are presented with the respective monikers of "The space fighter" and "The gladiator".

  • Decepticon Pretenders [200]
Toy segment: Each of the three Decepticon Pretenders is shown in stop motion exiting their shells, equipping their weapon and transforming to vehicle mode.
Note: Bomb-Burst, Submarauder and Skullgrin are presented with the respective monikers of "Winged ferociousness", "Amphibian force" and "Malefic might".

Toy segment: The four Pretender beasts are shown in stop motion exiting their shells, equipping their weapon and transforming to robot mode. The sequence starts with the four of them being inside cel-animated cocoons, but only Catilla and Chainclaw are shown bursting out from them.
Note: One again, all characters get cool monikers alongside their names: Catilla is "The tiger strength", Chainclaw is "The strength bear", Snarler is "Ferocious might" and Carnivac is "Malefic bark".

Curse you Wallmasters!
  • Decepticon Pretenders (assortment 2) [202]
Kidmation: Kid with jacket slung over his shoulder spins around like a top.
Toy segment: The eyes of Finback's Pretender shell flash, via special effects, before a pair of blue hands reach around. The hands split his shell apart, also via special effects. The inner robot's various modes (robot, equipped robot, vehicle) are flashed on screen. The kid then grabs Finback's shell from the screen and holds it up with his inner robot.

Animation: The Pretender Monsters being dipped into vats and emerging inside their shells. Reused from the American commercial.
Toy segment: Slime is sucked off (all in their Pretender shells) Birdbrain, Slog, Wildfly and Icepick. Two monstrous green hands pull Scowl's shell apart horizontally to reveal his inner robot. The inner robot transforms before each of the Pretender's shells approach the camera. The inner robots form Monstructor.
Notes: Bristleback is the only Pretender Monster not to have a scene of his own.
  • Pretender Monsters [204] - Altered version of the commercial above, which turns the regular narration into a song and replaces the Monstructor part with a promotion for two Pretender Monsters at a reduced price.
Notes: Features mostly the same sequences as the German commercial, with a new final shot at the end showing a kid holding the toy and the Italian box of the figure, which is marked as being an exclusive for the Amico Giò toy stores.

Toy segment: Grimlock, Sludge and Snarl stand around in some kind of desert, roar, transform and fight eachother, while two kids excitedly comment on their return and admire their gold chrome "golden scales" and clear plastic parts "steel armour".

Generation 2

[edit]
Animation: Ramjet landing and transforming; Jazz transforming. Re-used from the Generation 2 comic book ad and the ad for the G2 Autobot cars and Decepticon planes.
Toy segment: The stop motion transformation segments seen in the French ad for the Axelerators and Skyscorchers.

Toy Segment: Same as the French Skyquake and Thunderclash commercial, but with the Skyquake scenes removed.

Toy Segment: The Predators part from the French Turbo Masters and Predators commercial, plus the Stalker part from the French Rotorstorm and Stalker commercial.

Toy Segment: The Turbo Masters part from the French Turbo Masters and Predators commercial, plus the Rotorstorm part from the French Rotorstorm and Stalker commercial.

Beast Wars

[edit]
  • Biocombat Transformers [211]
Narration: Enrico Tagliaferri
Animation: Clips from "Beast Wars (Part 1)" are shown.
Toy Segment: The original seven Basic figures (Rattrap, Terrorsaur, Snapper, Razorbeast, Insecticon, Armordillo and Iguanus) are shown transforming and clashing against eachother.

  • Biocombat - I Capi Supremi [212]
Narration: Enrico Tagliaferri
Notes: Recycled from the American Optimus Primal and Megatron ad. The two characters are referred to only as their beast modes ("Gorilla" and "T-Rex").

  • Biocombat - Squalo Tigre (Cybershark) e Libellula (Jetstorm) [213]
Narration: Enrico Tagliaferri
Animation: The same CGI animation of Cybershark from the american Inferno and Cybershark ad.
Toy Segment: Cybershark swims in a body of water, emerges and transforms. Jetstorm flies around, lands and then cuts to him in robot mode. The two clash together.

Narration: Enrico Tagliaferri
Notes: It's mostly an extended version of the Cybershark and Jetstorm commercial, with additional toy footage featuring Airazor, Razorclaw and Claw Jaw.

Narration: Enrico Tagliaferri
Notes: Mostly a shortened version of the American commercial, with most of the scenes featuring Sky Shadow being removed. Final shot is changed to present the Italian packaging for Injector, which is then replaced by Noctorro as the narration mentions how Fuzors come in Basic size too.

  • Biocombat Transmetal [216]
Narration: Enrico Tagliaferri
Toy Segment: Scavenger turns towards the camera, then a brief stop-motion sequence of Optimus Primal throwing away Scavenger, both in beast mode. After a brief appearance of the Transmetals logo, Waspinator briefly transforms from vehicle to robot, follows a second stop-motion sequence of Scavenger transforming from robot to ant, Tarantulas rolling by in vehicle mode and then another stop-motion sequence of Optimus Primal and Scavenger, now in their robot modes, ready to fight. Rhinox is then briefly shown turning from rhino to robot mode. Final shot shows Optimus Primal transforming in a flash, and after that a boxed Cheetor appears nearby.
Note: While the commercial itself is supposed to showcase the Transmetal line as a whole, Scavenger gets a lot of focus in the sequence, and towards the end the narration pushes Rhinox as being the new cool thing the commercial is actually about. Stop-motion sequences are noted by a "SIMULATED MOVEMENT" footnote in the corner of the video.
And from today, a new great protagonist: Rhinox, the transforming rhino!

Note: Features most of the clips (both of the toys and from the show) as the American commercial, but the order and the narration are all different. The biggest addition is that the Italian commercial is for both the toys and the books, which are shown at the beginning and the end.

Robots in Disguise (2001)

[edit]
  • Transformers - Side Burn, Prowl and X-Brawn [218]
Toy segment: In response to Megatron destroying the city in his dragon mode, Side Burn, Prowl and X-Brawn arrive, transform and attack him.
Notes: Despite this commercial being aired in Italy and showing the three Autobot Brothers in their original color schemes, only their Supercharge redecos were sold in the country.

Classics

[edit]
  • La Grande Battaglia (Ultimate Battle 2-pack) [219]
Narration: Marco Balzarotti
Animation: Kicker Jones, Ironhide, and Inferno are pinned down by gunfire; Thundercracker fires his cannon. Taken from episodes of Energon and Cybertron. CGI animation of the DVD case bulging out in different places before exploding.
Toy segment: The DVD is inserted into a DVD player cuing up the animation. Afterwards, Megatron and Optimus Prime are shown transforming with a split-screen shot before clashing in front of a television set playing the included DVD.

Movie and beyond

[edit]
  • Transformers Movie toys [220]
Narration: Marco Balzarotti
Toy segment: Shortened version of the American commercial.

  • Transformers Animated - Jetfire and Jetstorm [221]
Narration: Marco Balzarotti
Toy segment: The first half of the Wave 1 figures commercial, showcasing Starscream and Optimus Prime's transformations, followed by new footage of Jetfire and Jetstorm in vehicle mode and them combining into Safeguard. The final shot shows Safeguard alongside the boxed set, with a superimposed blurb promoting the comic included with the pack.

  • N.E.S.T. Global Alliance (video not available)
Narration: Marco Balzarotti
Toy segment: Same as the American commercial.
Notes: The airing of this commercial made little to no sense, since the toys it's supposed to promote were actually never released in Italy (the only exception being Lockdown, whose wave was released there only ten months after this commercial was aired)

  • Dark of the Moon backpacks by SJ Gang [222]
A kid shows off the various features of the backpacks while clips from Transformers: Dark of the Moon are interspersed throughout.

  • Beast Hunters Weaponizers [223]
Narration: Marco Balzarotti
Notes: Same as the Beast Hunters American ad, but the final shot is changed to show off Weaponizers Beast Tracker Optimus Prime and Talking Bumblebee.

  • Transformers: Robots In Disguise Theatrical Preview [224]
Animation: A brief excerpt of the Autobots fighting Bisk from Episode 4, More than Meets the Eye.
Narration: Valerio Sacco
Notes: This commercial was done to promote the theatrical preview of the first two episodes of Transformers: Robots in Disguise aired in select cinemas on February 28, 2015. Partecipants would also get a Transformers branded Easter egg and a random Robots in Disguise Legion class Wave 1 figure. A brief report can be seen here.

  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise [225]
Animation:: Various clips from the first four episodes of the show are shown.
Narration: Valerio Sacco
Decepticons are back at being a treat, but a new gang is behind them. The friendship between Rusty and the Autobots is stronger than evil. Transformers: Robots in Disguise, a new series airing from Monday to Friday at 6:45 PM on K2, channel 41.

  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise [226]
Narration: Marco Balzarotti
Notes: Straight dub of the American toy commercial. Amusingly, Marco Balzarotti, who usually voices Optimus Prime, is the voice of Bumblebee in this commercial.

  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise Season 2 (Video not available)
Animation: Clips from "Overloaded, Part 1" and "Overloaded, Part 2" are shown.
Narration: Valerio Sacco
Notes: For some reason, a line said by Grimlock is played when Overload is shown, to make it look like Overload is the one speaking.

  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise Season 3 [227]
Animation: Clips from "History Lessons" are shown.
Narration: Valerio Sacco
Notes: The clips are edited to make it look like Grimlock, Sideswipe, Fixit and Paralon are excited for the airing of the new episodes, with the narrator trying to keep them calm.

  • Transformers Prime on POP [228]
Animation: Clips from the first five episodes are shown.
Narration: Marco De Domenico
Notes: The narration is a rielaborated and shortened version of Optimus Prime's speech at the end of the first Transformers movie, mentioning explicitely that Autobots are on Earth to defend it from Megatron and changing the last line to "We are here on POP!"

Spain

[edit]
  • Classics Optimus Prime [229]
Narration: :}}Constantino Romero|
Animation: Prowl, Sideswipe, and Jazz fly off into the sky and past Optimus Prime, who transforms and fires his gun. Re-used from the first American commercial for Transformers toys but in a different order.
Toy segment: Optimus Prime drives through a rocky, Mars-like terrain. Features a stop motion transformation. Possibly re-used from a Japanese spot.

  • Classics Triple Changers [230]
Narration: :}}Constantino Romero|
Animation: Astrotrain escaping the Autobots. Re-used from the US Perceptor & Triple Changers commercial
Toy segment: Reused from the U.S. Autobot Triple Changers & Octane commercial.

  • Burger King Transformer 6-pack [231] - A dubbed version of the U.K. ad.

  • SpeedStars Stealth Force Bumblebee and Mech Tech Ultimate Optimus Prime [232]
Animation: None.
Narration: Unknown.
Toy segment: Bumblebee races through a tunnel, jumps a dirt ramp that's in the tunnel for some reason, then deploys his Stealth Force weapons. The Optimus Prime half is the transformation segment the full ad.

  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Littlest Pet Shop Happy Meal [233]
Two Happy Meal boxes, one sitting and one posing like the wind-up ballerina that sits between them, watch the statue spin around while music plays. The sitting Happy Meal box then decides to pull out the ballerina and sit the other Happy Meal box on the turntable and wind it up again. The box on the turntable starts posing his arms again as he spins. Both boxes find this hilarious.

Czech Republic

[edit]
  • Skyquake & Thunder Clash [234]
Toy segment: The same footage of Skyquake firing upon Thunder Clash used in the French commercial, but with the power guitar "robots in disguise" theme music used in the UK during this period, and a spinning Hasbro logo. Whereas the French version used a child narrator throughout, an adult one is used here.

  • Rotorstorm & Stalker [235]
Toy segment: Same footage of Rotorstorm and the Turbo Masters seen in the French commercial, but trimmed down from 23 seconds to 16. Again, the music is in the UK style rather than that used in French. Only an adult narrator is used, as opposed to the child and adult used in the French ad.

Slovakia

[edit]
  • Transformers premiere on Markíza [236]
Various excerpts from Transformers are set to Linkin Park's "What I've Done" and used to promote the movie's Slovakian television premiere on :}}Markíza|.

  • Transformers premiere on Markíza 2 [237]
A video journalist comes upon a beat-up passenger car which transforms and attacks him.

  • Transformers premiere on Markíza 3 [238]
Various excerpts from the movie are set to the Green Day song 21 Guns, which is actually on the soundtrack to the film's sequel. When the scene of Sam and Mikaela making out on Bumblebee pans back to reveal Ironhide and Ratchet, the beat-up car from the previous ad has been inserted alongside of them. It honks its horn and flashes its lights.

Scenes from Transformers, Superman Returns, Miami Vice and Poseidon are shown accompanied by text narration in the style of the Transformers trailers. Footage of the menu from the Transformers DVD is also included.

Netherlands

[edit]
  • Optimus Prime, Megatron, Autobot Cars & Decepticon Jets [240]
Animation: A mish-mash of footage from the first US comic commercial and Optimus Prime's US ad.
Toy segment: Relatively brief footage of Optimus Prime being transformed, again from his US ad.
Notes: Differs from the original commercials in that at the end, the Transformers logo flies away.

Norway

[edit]
With a little bit of this, and a little bit of that, and shake your tail.
  • Cybertron on Cartoon Network [241]
A CGI G1 Optimus Prime break dances and excerpts from Cybertron are shown accompanied by :}}Bob Sinclair|'s ":}}Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)|".

Poland

[edit]
  • Illuminators (Laser Rods) & Rotors [242]
Animation: Same CGI animation used in the US commercial, but edited.
Toy segment: Same as the US version, except the Laser Rods are renamed Illuminators
Notes: The rap is here... IN POLISH! It also uses the US names for the toys ("Electro, Volt, Sizzle, Jolt!")

Greece

[edit]
It's a little known fact that one of Motormaster's hobbies is water skiing.
  • Stunticons, Aerialbots & Throttlebots [243]
Animation: The changing block-by-block electrified logo used in US commercials circa 1989.
Toy segment: The four small Aerialbots fly in, followed by Silverbolt. Air Raid and Fireflight do some stop-motion transformation followed by Slingshot and Skydive. A freckle-faced boy cheers as Drag Strip and Dead End speed along in car form. More stop-motion as Motormaster goes from truck to robot. Dead End and Breakdown make some attempt to follow his lead, followed by Wildrider and Drag Strip. Goldbug is shown on his backing card, but quickly drives off his packaging. He drives along a tiled surface alongside Wideload and Chase. A blonde boy pulls back on Chase, prompting him to perform some stop-motion stunt driving. Goldbug does the same, but also transforms to robot mode, followed by the other Throttlebots. The smaller Aerialbots and Stunticons are shown as vehicles again.
Notes: Skydive and Fireflight are sporting upside-down Autobot symbols. Dead End and Breakdown are badly mistransformed. Most strangely of all, Silverbolt only makes a very brief appearance in jet form and is never shown as a robot. Neither the Aerialbots or Stunticons are shown to combine.

  • Excavator (Devastator) vs. Defensor [244]
Animation: The early 90s CGI "circuitboard" logo seen in many European commercials from 1992 and 1993. Slowed-down footage of Powermaster Optimus Prime firing from that toy's commercial, and the Constructicons merging to form Devastator. Twice.
Toy segment: Both combiners are shown in their combined forms, as well as their individual robot and vehicle modes. Devastator & Defensor then flail their arms at each other. Throughout the commercial a blonde boy is extolling the virtues of Devastator, while a brown-haired boy does the same for Defensor.
Notes: A branding consultant's nightmare, this ad starts with the 1992-93 European Transformers logo, then immediately shows the 1989-1991 logo, before finally showing the toys in the original mid-80s style packaging. Hasbro Greece clearly had very little in the way of animated footage to work with, as Optimus Prime is playing substitute for Defensor.

Toy segment: The ad starts out with re-used footage from the GiG Decepticon clone commercial consisting of pans of computer control panels in a laboratory. It then switches to footage from an Italian Trasformer commercial, featuring a vehicle mode line-up of Prowl(?), Sideswipe, Mirage, Sunstreaker, Bluestreak, Red Tracks, and then Jazz and Smokescreen roll into view. Wheeljack, Sideswipe, Smokescreen and Tracks then rev up their engines for a race that Wheeljack seems to win, much to the delight of a young boy. Wheeljack transforms to robot mode to celebrate only to have the kid put him back in car mode. Thanks a lot squirt. In footage from the Italian "Commander e Convoy" commercial, Optimus Prime, in truck mode, drops out of the sky onto a road passing by a desert plateau and transforms. We then cut to PowerMaster Optimus Prime rolling through a different desert area before magically appearing in his box.
Notes: This ad uses a real mishmash of footage and seems to be advertising the brand as a whole rather than any specific figure.

Animation: A flying asteroid and the Autobot Headmaster Nebulons climbing into their respective partners from the first US Headmaster toy ad.
Toy segment: Front and side pans of Grimlock followed by Grimlock demonstrating his jaw articulation. Next the camera zooms in on Snarl, then Sludge. A kid looks on all three in their dinosaur modes before Grimlock and Sludge stop motion transform. This is followed by still images of each of the three in their dinosaur mode and a final pan down to the three toys in their dinosaur modes.

  • Easter Candle Packs [247]
Animation: Superion decking Menasor, reused from the US ad for the Aerialbots and Stunticons
Toy segment: The theme and logo for Transformers, G.I. Joe and Greek fashion doll line Bibi-Bo, lead to a zoom out on a selection of Easter candle and toy packs for their respective toy lines. A girl and two boys receive the packs as presents and appear to enjoy them. The boys are so excited, they sing the theme song hooks for Transformers and G.I. Joe, respectively.
Notes: The Transformers packs have Action Masters Devastator, Skyfall, and Banzai-Tron included. The G.I. Joe packs have two figures each with Countdown & H.E.A.T. Viper, General Hawk & Fast Draw and B.A.T. & Tiger Force Bazooka as the pairings.

  • Skyquake & Thunder Clash [248]
Same as the French and German spots. Uses the standard background music for G1.5 ads.

  • Turbomasters & Rotorstorm vs Predators & Stalker [249]
Animation: Electricity flowing through the intro circuit board, causing a the head of a CGI Overlord to snap to attention.
Toy segment: Stalker and the Predators run into Rotorstorm and the Turbo Masters on a barren desert road.
Notes: Uses the same Predators versus Turbomasters footage as the French commercial with some parts of the Rotorstorm vs Stalker commercial added.

  • Lightformers & Pyro vs. Trakkons & Clench [250]
Animation: A brief glimpse of Ramjet transforming to robot mode, as used in the title sequence of the Generation 2 cartoon. The circuit board CGI logo then appears.
Toy segment: The Trakkons are shown in their alt modes. A boy uses Fearswoop's viewfinder gimmick to locate and fire upon Ironfist. The Lightformers race into action in vehicle form, firing their weapons. Clench converts to robot form and fires his cannon. The CGI logo appears again before the different figures are shown in all possible configurations, and with their respective gimmicks. Finally, just in case you didn't catch it, the Transformers logo appears for a third time.
Notes: Somewhat similar to the French commercial for these toys, but with added G2 animation, toy gimmickry on display, a different kid playing with the figures and the standard Euro G1.5-style commercial music.

  • Stormtroopers vs Aquaspeeders [251]
Animation: Circuit board logo and Optimus Prime transforming and firing from the Transformers: Generation 2 cartoon intro.
Toy segment: Same as the French ad.

  • 2007 Movie core characters [255]
A dubbed version of the American advert for the 2007 live action movie core characters.
Notes: Translation is surprisingly bad even for a commercial. Decepticons are constantly referred to as "De-Cepticons" and "Autobot" is treated as a name of a character as well as the faction. On top of that, for whatever bizarre reason, the narrator tries to do an American accent when saying each name.
Optimus Prime and Autobot have the power

  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Littlest Pet Shop Happy Meal [256]
Two Happy Meal boxes are seesawing when two Littlest Pet Shop characters show up and sit with one of the boxes. This unbalances the seesaw, causing the other box to be stuck up in the air. Bumblebee then shows up and stomps on the raised end of the seesaw launching the Happy Meal box and animals into the air. The Happy Meal box sticks his landing on Bee's head before catching the two animals. The other Happy Meal box then jumps into Bee's hand and all five share a good laugh.

A boy wearing Grendene's Transformers sandals runs and jumps through an industrial yard full of oil drums. As he's hopping the last barrel we see him wearing a red Transformers watch that the boy got with his sandals. He throws the toy across the yard only to have it magically land in robot mode and on its feet. The boy runs up onto a platform. Upon checking his watch he realizes it's time to go and grabs his backpack.
Notes: Excerpts of Optimus Prime from the 2007 movie are interspersed. The watch is an unnamed retool of the Meantime/Midnighter XR-4 mold, the biggest difference being that it is actually a working watch.

  • Robots in Disguise 2015 promo [259]
Uses a number of scenes from the first US trailer but in a different order. It is soundtracked with music, sound effects and a narrator but no character dialogue.

  • Robots In Disguise Happy Meal [260]
Two Happy Meal boxes are working on a familiar looking yellow car sitting on the lift in their garage. One of them starts to use a ratchet to tighten a nut on the car's underside while holding onto another part of the undercarriage. After some confusion as to whether the tightening is working, the car transforms and identify itself as Bumblebee. The Happy Meal box hung on during the transformation and winds up hanging from Bee's shoulder. All three find this quite amusing. The ad then cuts to one of the Happy Meal boxes looking at the Robots in Disguise Happy Meal toys. They include Sideswipe holding a Decepticon Hunter, Grimlock breathing fire, an Optimus Prime mask (worn like glasses and covering the eyes and forehead) and a Bumblebee mask in the same style. The Happy Meal box puts on the Optimus Prime mask and laughs like a madman.

The agony of da feet.
  • Autobot cars plus Thrust and Dirge [261]
Notes: Dubbed version of the American spot. Interestingly, the kidmation does not have the glowing eyes effect seen in the American version.

  • Transformers de Bata [262]
Animation: Ravage sees the Autobots delivering a shipment of children's dress shoes and reports back to Megatron and Soundwave. Soundwave plays back Ravage's findings, which include the specifications of the shoes. Apparently having decided he needed a new pair of kicks, Megatron leads an assault on the Autobot convoy. A live-action boy and girl, wearing the dress shoes, step out of Bumblebee. The children DEFEAT the Decepticons by repelling blasts from Megatron's fusion cannon using THE SOLES OF THEIR SHOES! That's right. Megatron, mighty warrior and leader of the Decepticons, is felled by FOOTWEAR. After showing Megatron that they have more sole, the Autobots arrive at their destination and start handing out shoes to the local school children. And there was much rejoicing.
Notes: The animation models for the characters have some differences in proportions and details compared to their standard models. This is because the animation was not done by the animation studios normally contracted for such things. Appearing amongst the Decepticons are a Cyclonus-like robot and a bizarre Jazz-like robot with a green helmeted head, upper arms and hands and a new face. Hound is colored a rather bluish green.

Animation: Re-used from Ultra Magnus and Galvatron.
Kidmation: Kid to stop-motion Magnus toy.
Notes: Various erasers, pencils, a pencil bag, a pencil sharpener and coloring books are among the products shown being used by kids.

  • Triple Changers - Sandstorm, Broadside and Octane [264]

Worst. Alt-modes. Ever.
  • Signal, Dorina and Drive Transformers Promotion [273]
Animation: A box of Drive detergent transforms into a blue-legged Sureshot, a tub of Dorina margarine transforms into one of the Autobot Clones and a boxed tube of Signal toothpaste turns into Pointblank. The end of the commercial has reverse transformations.
Toy segment: Several children are shown playing with various Transformer toys before zooming in on a kid and his mother playing with Sureshot.
Notes: This advertised a promotion wherein you would receive a free poster, sticker or card by buying one the above products. Stickers are known to have come with the margarine.

Animation: Bat Primal vs Megalligator from the US Wave 1 Deluxes commercial; clips of Optimus Primal and Megatron transforming from Beast Wars (Part 1).

The car's features are then listed off.

  • Frito Lay 'Tam Yeri Tam Zamanı' promotion [284]
The ad starts with Chester Cheetah holding up a Transformers: Age of Extinction Cheetos package and announcing the partnership of the two brands. Cut to a bedroom where a girl, a blond boy and a brunet boy wearing a Bumblebee mask are hanging out. The girl is sitting on the bed eating Cheetos while the two boys are playing a card game using the battle cards found in specially marked packages of Frito Lay products. The blond boy plays a Optimus Prime+Grimlock card to win. The girl and, strangely enough, the boy on the losing end celebrate the first boy's victory by raising their fists over their heads in triumph. The blond high fives Chester, who was apparently standing just off screen the entire time. The girl then uses her iPad to enter the code from another card into a website as a demonstration of both how to enter the contest and one of the contest prizes. Other prizes are shown as well, culminating in the reveal of the grand prize: a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood.
Notes: Clips from the film are liberally sprinkled throughout the ad.

  • Transformers Animated/Littlest Pet Shop Happy Meal [286]
Ratchet and Bumblebee appear from behind a pair of storage trailers. Megatron flies high over the city. All three transform to robot mode, with Megatron landing in front of the two Autobots. Then out of the sky comes a giant Happy Meal box. But what's in it? Is it a bird? Maybe a plane? Nah, it's Optimus! He transforms to robot mode before joining the other three. Power Ranger-style effects are used to show four kids each paired with a different toy, followed by a Power Ranger-style group shot. The four kids proceed to play with their toys.

  • Jollibee Beast Machines Kids Meal [292]
A boy in a green and white shirt with pale green face paint yells out the name of Optimus Primal while posing like a gorilla. This leads to a stop motion transformation of the toy. A second boy in a yellow and black striped shirt (and possibly sporting some yellow face paint) looks off into the distance and yells out the name of Cheetor. This leads to the transformation of Cheetor's toy. A third kid, sporting a red shirt with a yellow collar and long sleeves and face paint on his cheeks resembling Megatron's wings, yells Megatron's name. You can probably guess what that leads to. The three kids then turn around to see their dad holding three Jollibee kids meals. The kids sit down and enjoy their meals.

  • Jollibee Transformers: Cybertron Robot Blasters Kids Meal [293]
A mother and father return home from Jollibee to find their son and daughter disguised as a stereo system and a stand with a portrait and lamp on top of it, respectively. They pop up in their "robot modes" and run towards their parents. This is followed by stop motion transformations of the toys. The final scene shows the mother and her kids enjoying their meals, when their dad's head pops up in the bottle of their watter cooler. Turns out it's not a mafia warning sign, but Dad deciding to create his own disguise.

  • Jollibee ROTF Kids Meal [294]
A group of kids watches a comet as it crashes into the Earth. The various toys fly up from a Jollibee restaurant. Each toy is then shown stop-motion transforming in front of a promo shot of the corresponding character. The commercial ends with the kids eating their meals while the Transformers look on.
Roll out and dig in.

Taiwan

[edit]
  • Revenge of the Fallen M&M's [295]
The first half of the ad is a very trimmed down version of the US one. The second half features special M&M's packages which open in a style similar to Shout! Factory's Matrix of Leadership Edition box set, with an M&M at the center. There are three different packages, Red with Optimus Prime, Yellow with Bumblebee, and Blue with Megatron.

  • KFC Revenge of the Fallen Chicky Meals [296]
A boy holds out his Starscream toy and yells for the Autobots. This prompts the nearby recliner, bookshelf and TV w/stand to transform into the boy's three friends who hold out their Autobot toys and yell "Autobots transform!". A shot of the Autobot toys' altmodes is followed by a four-way split screen of all the toys being transformed. The ad ends with a quick plug for the film and a static shot of the toys.

  • KFC Revenge of the Fallen Chicky Meals 2 [297]
The Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide and (somehow) Starscream toys are all parked in front of a model KFC restaurant. All four are grabbed by kids and taken elsewhere to transform. Optimus Prime is driven around to another store front, Bumblebee is driven off a ramp, spun out and transformed in the middle of a three way intersection, Ironhide crashes through a brick wall near a different KFC and Starscream flies through the city before landing on a building in robot mode. The four kids then enjoy their Chicky Meals in front of the diorama.

  • Nu Green Tea Transformers: Age of Extinction edition [298]

  • Transformers Animated/Littlest Pet Shop Happy Meal [299]
Three kids play with their Transformers Animated Happy Meal toys while a fourth kid does a voiceover explaining the toys: "Is it a robot? Is it a car? Toy cars that turn into robots. Now in every McDonald's Happy Meal get amazing Transformers and Littlest Pet Shop Toys!"
Notes: Apparently, India has flying cars now and hasn't told the rest of the world. Or so it would seem, since the voice over states that the Transformers toys turn into cars despite the fact that the Megatron toy is shown and clearly is not a car. The background music used for the ad is the same as that used for the Hong Kong Happy Meal ad.

A dub of the first US Constructicon giftset ad.

A dub of the first US Dinobots ad.

Australasia

[edit]

Australia

[edit]
Animation: A frame for frame recreation of the scene of the Autobot cars transforming and flying past a transforming Optimus Prime which was used in multiple early US G1 toy ads. The Season 1 cartoon theme plays over it.
Ultra Magnus (the toy) pops out from behind a rocky wall on a barren planet. An explosion erupts in front of Ultra Magnus (the toy) revealing "the most mysterious Transformer ever", Peters's Ultra Magnus (the ice cream). A boy and a girl, in costumes that can only be described as Optimus Prime and Elita One turned into the children of human royalty (a la Only Human), enjoy their treats' chocolate ice cream bar "modes". Upon the completion of their mastication, the ice cream bars turn into their other "modes": bubblegum stick and caramel stick. The sticks appear in Ultra Magnus's (the toy) hands as the narrator tells us: "Every Peters Ultra Magnus is a new Transformers adventure, because you never know what it will become." The girl turns to the camera and says "More than meets the eye!" in a (dubbed in) demonic voice.
Notes: The stop-motion toy segment is very reminiscent of Takara's ads for Ultra Magnus. While the models in the animated segment are drawn pretty closely to the real deal, the coloring of the models differs in varying amounts. Sideswipe's waist, shins and forearms become red, while Prime's face plate becomes blue and the yellow disappears from his waist. Then on the far sides of the spectrum, Prowl is nearly spot-on with his shins and thighs swapping colors. But Jazz trades in his white for yellow! The version of the Season 1 cartoon theme that plays over this segment is also a re-creation.
Notes: This commercial features footage of recolored Seekers.

Notes: A re-dubbed version of the US Targetmaster ad. Yes, re-dubbed. The song, Victor Caroli's narration, and even Ultra Magnus and Galvatron's lines have been rerecorded by Australian actors for this ad. As a result, Galvatron sounds more like a generic Autobot than a fearsome Decepticon leader.

  • Terrorcons & Technobots [305]
Notes:Instead of being satisfied with merely re-dubbing the ad, this time the production company did a shot-for-shot remake of the US commercial. Well, almost. The kidmation is the same footage from the US version but every other part of the ad has been re-created. The animation sequence, while depicting the same events as the US version, has some noticeable differences. In particular the lush valley between volcanoes, which the two teams clash in, has very different foliage between the two versions. The toy segment was also recreated following the same rough sequences but using slightly different angles and an obviously different set of kids. Even the sequences showing a split screen of the five toys in each team were redone using the same distortion effects. One has to wonder what led to this recreation approach to advertising as it would not seem to be very cost effective.

  • Duocons & Throttlebots [306]
Notes: Much like the Terrorcons & Technobots ad, this is a shot-for-shot recreation of it's counterpart US ad. This time though, the animation differences aren't as obvious.

  • TCL & Transformers: Dark of the Moon [307]
A guy walking in a stark white office space sits down and puts on his 3D glasses to watch Dark of the Moon. The action starts out on the TV but shoots out to the street below a large window in the office. Several people, including the initial viewer, gather around the window to see the action unfold. The action then returns to the TV as the guy notices part of Bumblebee's armor on the floor.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is one of several entertainment properties used to demonstrate the difference between standard definition TV and Foxtel HD. Scenes from the movie are contrasted with toys being played with in a diorama of a destroyed city. With actual fire.
Notes: The toys being played with are Dark of the Moon Ultimate Optimus Prime and two Exkaiser bootlegs.

A McDonald's Happy Meal box happily jumps rope. Another Happy Meal box walks up, tosses the jump rope away and uses the first Happy Meal box to jump rope in reverse.
Skip into McDonald's for this month's Happy Meal with a cool Transformers: Prime or cute My Little Pony toy.
Notes: This ad also aired in New Zealand.
