The Transformers: Dark of the Moon toyline coincides with the third film in Michael Bay's live-action film series. The line is divided into three brandings: the MechTech line for Deluxe, Voyager, Leader, Ultimate and Human Alliance class size toys; the Cyberverse subline featuring Legends Class characters, Commander Class (new price point, effectively replacing Scouts) and play sets; and Robo Power, a catch all line for various merchandise including role play.

The figures also come in 3 transformation difficulty levels, changed from the original 5 in the Generations and 2010 Transformers toylines.

Despite being solicited through online retailers and the Hasbro website as "Stealth Bumblebee", the American packaging for the 015 Cyberverse figure does not feature a prefix; it is simply "Bumblebee". The European packaging does still call him "Stealth Bumblebee", however, and a running change later added the prefix for the American packaging.

Hasbro later decided to make the "GDO" figures available in the United States and Canada as Toys"R"Us exclusives, just in time for the 2012 holiday shopping season, changing the English-only packaging of the Asian versions to bilingual English/Chinese packaging for reasons unknown. Even more oddly, Ironhide and Starscream never made it to the United States, but were released in Canada... albeit in Dark of the Moon packaging with additional Movie Trilogy Series labels.
