Hisashi Yuki (幸 日佐志 Yuki Hisashi) is a toy designer at TakaraTomy who joined the company in 1992, just before Generation 2 began. His first Transformers work was the Beast Wars II series, during which he was one of the only members of the Takara team developing Transformers for the Japanese market.

Of all the toys Yuki has designed, Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime holds a special place in his heart. He was responsible for coming up with the "shake hands" combination sequence between this Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, and even went to a series staff meeting to ask the director personally to ensure the scene would be featured in the Omega Prime combination sequence.
Hisashi Yuki (幸 日佐志 Yuki Hisashi) is a toy designer at TakaraTomy who joined the company in 1992, just before Generation 2 began. He cut his teeth on the Transformers-adjacent Brave series, including the ever-popular King of Braves GaoGaiGar. His first Transformers work was being brought on as the design lead for the Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo sub-franchises, during which he was one of the only members of the Takara team developing Transformers for the Japanese market. He is also generally responsible for toy "localization," i.e. the adapting of product originally designed for Hasbro markets for release in Japan. One tier up from the world of the Transformers, as of 2024 he serves as the design lead on Toyrise, the Generations-adjacent cross-brand line of TakaraTomy's "T-SPARK" umbrella collector imprint that encompasses Transformers, Diaclone and many more.

When he designed the Universe Sunstreaker and Sideswipe toys, he disagreed with Hasbro's concepts and instructions that both robots would be exactly the same, only differing in their heads. He came up with the simple (yet very effective) idea of turning the torso around to give the two Autobot brothers their distinctively different torso designs.

[Yuki]: That is right. (*laughs) I was not assigned to be in charge of it initially, but due to the circumstance within the company I was unexpectedly handed down the project. The schedule came with it and I was stunned when I realised that I was only given 12 days, about 2 weeks...To make it worse, at the time of my receiving the task, even the product size wasn't decided. The name or term "Yuki" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Yuki (disambiguation).

Hisashi Yuki (幸 日佐志 Yuki Hisashi) is a toy designer at TakaraTomy who joined the company in 1992, just before Generation 2 began. He cut his teeth on the Transformers-adjacent Brave series, including the ever-popular GaoGaiGar.[1] His first Transformers work was being brought on as the design lead for the Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo sub-franchises, during which he was one of the only members of the Takara team developing Transformers for the Japanese market. He is also generally responsible for toy "localization," i.e. the adapting of product originally designed for Hasbro markets for release in Japan. One tier up from the world of the Transformers, as of 2024 he serves as the design lead on Toyrise, the Generations-adjacent cross-brand line of TakaraTomy's "T-SPARK" umbrella collector imprint that encompasses Transformers, Diaclone and many more.[2]

    • Of all the toys Yuki has designed, 2001 Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime holds a special place in his heart. He was responsible for coming up with the "shake hands" combination sequence between this Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, and even went to a series staff meeting to ask the director personally to ensure the scene would be featured in the Omega Prime combination sequence.
    • He designed MP-4's trailer in one night[4] and MP-5 Megatron in twelve days.[5] He really wants to do MP Ginrai.
    • When he designed the Universe Sunstreaker and Sideswipe toys, he disagreed with Hasbro's concepts and instructions that both robots would be exactly the same, only differing in their heads. 4. 4.0 4.1 TakaraTomy Staff Interview - Hisashi Yuki on Masterpiece: Even more horrifying was the plan of reissuing MP-1 to go with Megatron - simply reissuing him wasn't considered to be appealing enough and it was decided to give him a trailer...I was told to come up with a proto (of the trailer) by the end of May, and I designed it in one night. [...] I couldn't shirk my task as the release date had already been set by backward calculation. I really did the best I could though there just wasn't enough time.
    5. 5.0 5.1 TakaraTomy Staff Interview - Hisashi Yuki on Masterpiece: - I hear the first Masterpiece figure you created was MP-5 Megatron and you hold the fastest development record with it.
