The Lost Bots embark on an epic quest to find their kin! But will they fit in with the other BotBot tribes?

Synopsis

Not long ago, a mysterious energon mist descended upon an ordinary Earth shopping mall and brought everything in the store to life! The mischievous BotBots organized themselves into tribes based on the stores they came from, each with their own customs and rules. However, one group, the Lost Bots, didn't come from a store at all--they were created from the junk in the mall's lost and found box. Although they all come from different tribes, they live together peacefully. One day, Dimlit and Stinkeye Stapleton are playing with one another, when they encounter Greaser Gang members S'up Dawg and Hawt Diggity. Dimlit thinks that maybe he should find a tribe of BotBots like him; after gathering up a group of likeminded Lost Bots, the group set out to find their tribes. First they visit the sports store, home of the rowdy Jock Squad. Love Struck and Kikmee think they feel at home until Toughdown tackles them!

Next, the Lost Bots stop at the health food store, where the Fresh Squeezes hang out. Greeny Rex tries to impress the fruity 'bots with her magical herbs, but Sensei Spiny wants to fight and winds up scaring her away. At the candy shop, Frostferatu and Sprinkleberry Duh'Ball wind up frightening Plop Father and the other treats; meanwhile, Trisourtops finds he doesn't get along with Moldwich and the other Spoiled Rottens. Stinkeye Stapleton finds the Backpack Bunch, but his no-mess philosophy doesn't gel with Ms. Take, who loves fixing messes.

At the music store, Smooth Shaker's laid-back tunes don't gel with the hard-rock stylings of the Music Mob, and The Detangler abandons his dream of joining the Toilet Troop when he sees how Stinkosaurus Rex uses Nobeeoh as deodorant. Chic Cheeks kicks Fail Polish out of his beauty parlor when she makes a mess, and Dimlit and Bonz-Eye find that they'd rather stay inside while the other Shed Heads go outside to garden. Dimlit briefly regrets leading the Lost Bots on their search, but as he walks back to the lost and found he sees his friends all playing with one another, regardless of their differences. All this time, he and the other Lost Bots have been right where they belong!

Notes

  • The book opens up with a huge spread of 208(!) characters all on one page, although only a fraction of the characters go on to actually play a role in the rest of the story. Notably, the spread features a few doubles, including Chic Cheeks, Kikmee, and Dinger.

Errors

  • The book seems to depict Kikmee as one of the Lost Bots, when his toy and online bios place him as a member of the Playroom Posse
  • Nacho Problem's stock art is mirrored, meaning that his "monocle" is on the wrong side of his face.
  • Smooth Shaker is referred to with male pronouns, while the character's online bio established her as female.

Other trivia

  • Print releases of the book feature thirty stickers.
