Waspinator is a Predacon from the Beast Era portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Waspinator: chew-toy of fate.

Waspinator (aka Wasp, Thrustinator, or Waspscream) is the universe's whipping boy. If something goes wrong, it happens to him. If something blows up, he's usually at the epicenter of the explosion. He has been blasted, burned, shot down, torn up, crushed, slashed, smashed, bashed, and otherwise reduced to his component parts times beyond counting. Disturbingly, Rattrap has taken to collecting his severed components.

Waspinator's not the brightest 'bot in the Beast Wars. Megatron has classified the harebrained Predacon as expendable, much to Waspinator's dismay; he doesn't get much more respect from anyone else, either. His speech quirks don't help: he tends to refer to himself in the third person and to most other people by nicknames like "cat-bot" and "two-head." He's also a bit too fond of the letter "Z". (Those prone to witticisms might say he has a "liszzzzp.")

Waspinator may be dumb, but he's not stupid. He has caught on to his lot in life and tries to avoid his fate as often as possible... but fate always finds him. Thankfully, he's almost supernaturally durable and has survived the most devastating and humiliating of defeats.

The Waspinator was a fearsome warrior of monstrous appearance, striking fear with the eerie sound of his ominous buzzing. When the Maximals located the Predacons' genetics lab, Waspinator was present along with Megatron and Tarantulas to fend them off. Remember when Waspinator used to be a threat? Because he doesn't, the poor guy.

Waspinator, part of Megatron's rogue band of Predacons, landed on an unknown planet with dangerous levels of unstable energon. To protect themselves from the energon, the Predacons took organic beast modes. In Waspinator's case, he now transformed into a large, green wasp. The first conflict between the stranded Predacons and their Maximal pursuers came when the Maximal Cheetor stumbled across Waspinator. In a stark contrast to his later career, he actually proved to be a serious threat and had the advantage over the inexperienced Cheetor, pinning the young Maximal down in a canyon. Beast Wars (Part 1)

The Predacons pursued the Maximals and interrupted a fight between Optimus Primal and Dinobot. When a stray shot exposed a cache of energon atop a nearby mountain, the Predacons headed for it. Waspinator was teamed with Terrorsaur for the first time, in an attempt to slow the Maximals down. They were chased off by a missile from Primal and rejoined the others for a mountaintop battle, wherein Cheetor attempted to have a rematch with Waspinator. Beast Wars (Part 2)

Waspinator helped Scorponok and Terrorsaur install some perimeter defenses around the Predacon base. The Web When Cheetor ended up in the Predacon base through some sort of freak teleportation system, Waspinator and Scorponok tried to kill him, but only succeeded in blowing themselves up with their own missiles. Little did Waspinator know that he would be blown up numerous times in the adventures to come. Equal Measures

Waspinator was part of an attack on the Maximals at the Standing Stones. He survived that battle, but when an alien probe appeared at the circle, he and Megatron attempted to take possession of it, and a pulse of energy zapped them. They turned up, badly damaged, back at the Predacon base. After repairs, Megatron sent Waspinator and Scorponok to guard the circle. The Maximals soon turned up to try and extract Primal from the probe. Waspinator attempted to sneak up on Rhinox, only for the Maximal to see his reflection on the probe and ventilate him with a chaingun. Waspinator fell backwards against a standing stone, activating a sequence which freed Primal from the probe. Chain of Command

After Terrorsaur managed to slag Megatron and take leadership of the Predacons, Waspinator and Scorponok promptly fixed Megatron. Power Surge When a stasis pod crashed, Waspinator and Terrorsaur went directly to the Axalon and ambushed Optimus Primal when he emerged to look for the pod. Though they succeeded, Dinobot dropped a huge rock on Waspinator, and Terrorsaur had to help his fellow. Waspinator was still healthy enough to report to Megatron, who sent the pair to capture the pod. On the way, they managed to slow down the Maximals by destroying an ice bridge, but by the time they reached the pod, Tigatron had already been activated. The new Maximal fought them off. Wazzzzpinator not want to know "who'zzzz there?"

In one of Waspinator's few victories, he managed to retrieve the stasis pod which gave birth to Blackarachnia. When Terrorsaur again deposed of Megatron, Waspinator seemed happy to follow his fellow Predacon. Double Jeopardy Perhaps that was why he was subsequently assigned with Blackarachnia and Terrorsaur to deliver a sonic emitter to a location below the Axalon. Dissatisfied with the task, he went to fly around for a bit and mutter to himself, only to give away their position accidentally. Though he returned to the other two Predacons, they were discovered by Tigatron, who destroyed the sonic emitter. A Better Mousetrap After Primal was inadvertently turned into a berserker by Scorponok's cyberbee, Waspinator attempted to track down Optimus in the Predacon base, but found himself pulled through a wall and blasted. Waspinator acted as bait for the first test of Tarantulas's transformation lock lens. The test was a success, but Waspinator was slagged by Tigatron. The Probe He was later one of the trio who mounted a mock revolt against Megatron to fool the Maximals. The Predacons concealed themselves in a crevasse (where Waspinator apparently spent his nights cuddling Tarantulas like a soft toy) while the Maximals repaired the Axalon. They were discovered by Dinobot, who dropped a large rock on Waspinator and Terrorsaur. Though the latter survived to battle on, Waspinator apparently didn't. Victory

Dancing Queen Bee

When Rhinox had his personality program converted to that of a Predacon, he started surreptitiously taking out the various Predacons. He swung a cargo crate into Waspinator, giving him a concussion. As a result, Waspy flew around in a daze, claiming to be the Insecticon Shrapnel as well as the great Wonko the Sane. This dementia was apparently reversed when Cheetor later got annoyed at his yammering and shot him down. One of Waspinator's stray shots subsequently hit the Transmuter, causing it to explode. Terrorsaur and Waspinator were hanging around outside the Predacon base during Megatron's experiment to create a clone of Dinobot. Double Dinobot The pair attacked Cheetor when the young Maximal was protecting a stasis pod. Cheetor managed to lure Waspinator into flying over an energon geyser, frying his circuits. The Spark Perhaps a sign that they hadn't learned their lesson, Waspinator and Terrorsaur attacked Tigatron, only to be blasted by the defense system of a strange flying island. Though injured, they were able to return to base to report the find, just in time before Terrorsaur fainted on top of Waspinator. The Trigger, Part 1 Following another bout of repairs, the duo headed back for the island, only to run into Primal and Rattrap, who were headed in the same direction. Eventually, they did each the island... only for Blackarachnia to trick them into triggering the island's defenses again, resulting in them both being blasted. Waspinator blamed the "pterodactyl idiot" for this. The Trigger, Part 2

Tigatron was ambushed on his way to another stasis pod by Waspinator, who managed to get a drop on the tiger. Waspinator's victory was short-lived, as Airazor promptly shot his wings off, and he crashed to the ground. Spider's Game Waspinator and Terrorsaur stole the Axalon's rectifier coil, forcing the Maximals remain in their beast modes. Once the Maximals had gone feral and wandered off into the jungle, the Predacons mounted a hunting expedition. The Maximals were able to overcome their programming block, and during the subsequent fight, Rhinox swatted Waspinator out of the air with a tree, as if it were a baseball bat Call of the Wild

After an apparently victorious battle, Waspinator and Scorponok returned to base. However, the Maximals they had attacked were not dead, merely blinded, and Waspinator was soon sent out again, teamed with Terrorsaur, to eliminate them. Unfortunately, even four blind Maximals were more than enough match for them, and both Predacons were sent packing. Dark Voyage Things continued to go badly for Waspinator, as during a violent storm, he was possessed by the immortal spark of Starscream. It took a major energon explosion to dislodge Starscream's immortal spark from Waspinator's body. It also had the after-effect of giving Waspinator a headache in his whole body. Possession

Waspinator was part of a diversionary attack while Tarantulas tried out his new weapon, an energon discharge virus. Later on, the Predacons attempted to stop the Maximals getting the antidote and were blasted by Rhinox's enormous fart. The Low Road Waspinator teamed up with Inferno and Terrorsaur for a fight, only to be roundly trounced by Tigatron. The trio were later able to defeat Dinobot, with Waspinator dealing the final blow, but Optimus Primal turned up and blew both him and Terrorsaur away with one shot. Law of the Jungle

"Wazzzzpinator having flashbacks to grammar zzzzzchool!"

Waspinator caught Tarantulas stealing a transwarp cell from the Darksyde, but he was unable to stop the spider from leaving, as Tarantulas tossed him a bomb and locked the door behind him. Trapped inside, Waspinator was soon in a multitude of separate pieces. Before the Storm Recovered and ready to take revenge on Tarantulas, he was instead sent by Megatron to secure a new alien site. Unfortunately, once he got there, he encountered Rattrap, who saw him off with a "robonoogie" and a kick to the unmentionables. Other Voices, Part 1 He retired to the Darksyde, where the Predacons monitored the situation with the Planet Buster weapon which had been revealed from the planet's second moon. Other Voices, Part 2

Rube-ik's Cube

After the Planet Buster was destroyed, the strange energies of a quantum surge saturated both ships. Waspinator lost control of his hoversled and was tipped into one of the restoration pools. Bathed in the regenerative fluids, he was prevented from becoming a Transmetal. He and his newly upgraded leader mounted an attack on the Axalon, but once Waspinator faced a similarly upgraded Cheetor, he soon retreated. Aftermath Waspinator was the first to realize that the seemingly unknown planet on which they'd landed was, in fact, Earth. Dinobot had made the same realization and stole into the Darksyde to retrieve both of Megatron's disks. Waspinator proposed the two work together to steal the disks, and much to his surprise, Dinobot agreed... and threw him into the security shield. Waspinator was crushed into a cube by the disks' security contraption, leaving Dinobot free to steal the disks unharmed while Waspinator crawled away to the CR chamber using two fingers.

He got himself repaired in time to join Megatron's forces on the battlefield, where they outnumbered Dinobot, Cheetor and Rattrap. Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1) He was teamed up with new recruit Silverbolt to attack the Axalon by air. After asserting his authority over the Fuzor, he was promptly knocked out of the air by Cheetor. After piercing Sentinel's defenses (and shooting Dinobot in the crotch), he joined the other Predacons as they prepared to finish off the Maximals for good... but was the first victim of a reborn Transmetal Optimus Primal. Waspinator and Inferno were tasked with constructing a new jamming tower. They constructed it successfully, but while Waspinator proudly reported their success to Megatron, Inferno playfully knocked the tower over on him. Tangled Web Another of Waspinator's rare victories came when he shot Silverbolt from behind, causing the Maximal to crash into Dinobot, effectively taking both out. While Inferno took off with Dinobot's prone form, Quickstrike refused to help Waspy carry Silverbolt. A short time later, Rattrap mimicked Quickstrike's voice, tricking Waspinator into picking up a gas mine, and Waspinator's victory was no more. Maximal, No More

Waspinator and the rest of the Predacons installed shield generators around another alien site, but the alien construct which appeared zapped everyone, sending him into stasis lock. Other Visits (Part 1) Megatron took control of the construct and restored all of the Predacons to working order. Waspinator and Inferno retrieved transwarp cells to give the ship transwarp capability. They were later sent out to defend the construct against the Maximals. Other Visits (Part 2)

Sent with Blackarachnia to claim another pod, Waspinator didn't last long before he was shot down by Cheetor and landed head first. Bad Spark He also took part in the attack on the valley where the protohumans were living, but his contribution ended when Dinobot stuffed him head-first into Rampage's main cannon and Rampage exploded. As by Megatron's calculations, the transwarp wavefront from the Planet Buster explosion would soon be reaching Cybertron, the Predacons mounted an attack on the Axalon. The Maximals received reinforcements in the form of Predacon covert agent Ravage, whose transwarp cruiser saw the Predacons off. Waspinator was subsequently given a new solo mission by Megatron, and he departed when the Maximals next attacked. The Agenda (Part 1) Just as he arrived at his destination, Blackarachnia accidentally hit him with her hoversled, knocking him apart. Waspinator once again started gathering himself together. Waspinator pulled himself together in time to aid Megatron's escape, after the Predacon leader badly damaged Optimus Prime. He, Megatron and Inferno headed for the Axalon, but Cheetor and Primal caught up with them, and Waspinator was downed by one shot from Cheetor. Optimal Situation After Inferno was blown to bits while attacking the Maximal base, Megatron sent Waspinator to salvage him. Waspinator was less than happy, complaining that no one ever salvaged him. Deep Metal He was able to get the drop on Silverbolt when the Maximals were attempting to salvage Sentinel, and he happily flew off with the module. He was so excited, he figured Megatron would give him a vacation for this.

Sadly, he didn't get very far before Silverbolt and Rattrap caught up, blasting him out of the air so they could reclaim Sentinel. Changing of the Guard After Megatron developed cyber raptors, Waspinator and Tarantulas were sent out with a group of them to attack Cheetor and Blackarachnia. The Maximals soon discovered that destroying the raptors' control components sent them wild, and Waspinator was stomped into the ground by an out-of-control dinosaur. Cutting Edge Another of Waspinator's increasingly few victories came when he managed to snatch a stasis pod from under the Maximals' noses. He acted as lab assistant as Megatron utilized the blank protoform contained in the pod, plus a transmetal driver, to create a new Dinobot. Unfortunately, even this victory was short-lived, as a short time later, the device Megatron was using exploded, and Waspinator was caught in the blast. After getting repaired, he made his way to where Megatron was interrogating Depth Charge... only to be blasted by his own trigger-happy leader. Feral Scream Part 1

After Megatron discovered that Cheetor had upgraded himself into a Transmetal 2, he sent Waspinator and Dinobot out to find and capture the kitty. The pair located him in a cave, but as Dinobot began to move in, Waspinator asserted his own leadership...and was shredded by Dinobot. Following another bout of repairs, Waspinator rejoined the hunt, and they eventually found Cheetor again. Waspinator was offhandedly slagged by the Maximal while trying to sneak up. Feral Scream Part 2

"Oh, Waspinator want to renegotiate contract..."

Requiring someone organic to complete the disruptor cannon, Megatron sent Waspinator and Inferno to pick up a protohuman. Waspinator was able to capture Una, but she did quite a bit of damage to him on the flight back. On reaching the mountain hideout, Waspinator reported success and promptly collapsed into a collection of parts. At some point, he got repaired and was able to join in the pursuit of Rattrap and Una as they escaped. He was hit in the face by mud, sending him out of control, crashing into first Inferno, then Dinobot, and allowing the Maximals to escape. The three Predacons were called back to the mountain, where Megatron attempted to use the disruptor cannon, which promptly exploded. Go with the Flow Waspinator's next glorious mission was an attack on the Maximal base. Unfortunately for him, his expected backup wasn't there, and he was swatted by Optimus Primal. It had all been a ploy to draw Primal out so that Tarantulas could deliver a device to take control of the Maximal leader. Master Blaster

During Quickstrike's trial for betraying Megatron, Waspinator was his defense attorney. He didn't do a very excellent job of defending his client as he wanted to see him get punished. However, before Quickstrike's sentence was cast, the Darksyde was destroyed at Tigerhawk's hands. In retaliation, Megatron ordered the Predacons to attack, but Tigerhawk summoned a tornado that swooped up Waspinator, Inferno, and Quickstrike. Waspinator looked on the bright side that he had company this time. Other Victories

With their base gone, Megatron sent Waspinator, Inferno, and Quickstrike on an errand to find a new base, which was really nothing more than pointless busywork while Megatron went to do more important things. As the trio staked out an early human tribe that had taken up residence in a series of caves, Waspinator decided he'd finally had enough and ripped off his Predacon symbol, declaring himself out of the Beast Wars.

Wazzzzpinator happy at last! ...until the next series.

I said no! Dragon-Bot command you, Sub-Commander Kiss-Butt! Dragon-Bot not command Waspinator! Not any more! Waspinator sick of being evil! Sick of being Predacon! And Waspinator especially sick of getting blown to scrap all the time! Sooo, Waspinator quit! His parts recovered by the protohuman tribe, Waspinator remained on Earth while all the other surviving Transformers set off for Cybertron, and led the tribe, declaring that he was finally... happy. Nemesis Part 2

Bug to be wiiii-iii-ild!

Waspinator grew bored of being a god to the Protohumans and started flicking rocks at their heads. The Protohumans he had ruled over grew tired of his presence and evicted him from their settlement by catapulting him from a tree. After this, Waspinator returned to Cybertron, which "took forever". Once home, his spark was removed and used to power the Vehicon general Thrust. He loved being a cool biker-bot as he now got respect and was finding chicks dig the new brooding bad boy schtick!

It turned out that Waspinator had a secret infatuation with Blackarachnia: influences from his inner spark caused Thrust to save her life several times. She thought this was because he carried Silverbolt's spark. Discovery She later tried to bring his original mind back and discovered, to her disgust, that she'd spent all her effort getting Waspinator back. Poor Waspinator was rather upset to find Blackarachnia no longer wanted to "go steady" with him, and briefly had a punch-up with a revived Silverbolt over her honour. The Catalyst

Why Oracle hate Wazzzzpinator?

Following Blackarachnia's unambiguous rejection of him (there's gratitude for you!), Waspinator remained in the "background" and let Thrust run the show, and nobody ever expressed interest in reformatting Thrust to free Waspinator. In the final battle, Cheetor used an extractor to remove Waspinator's spark from the body shell. When Legends Fall After Cybertron's technorganic reformatting (thanks to Optimus Primal, through the cost of his and Megatron's lives) Waspinator returned in his beast mode with Thrust's head, now the size of a standard wasp. He complained to Rattrap about how much he wanted glory and power and never gets what he wants... at which point Rattrap swatted him away. Seeds of the Future

Soon after his encounter with Starscream, Waspinator was part of an initially ordinary skirmish between the Maximals and the Predacons. Optimus Primal Chapter He personally attacked Cheetor with his Beebee Shot, but the cheetah countered with a Laser Shot. Cheetor Chapter Waspinator struck with another Beebee Shot. Waspinator Chapter The battle was later joined by Transformers from another universe. The Decepticons allied themselves with the Predacons, while the Autobots did the same with the Maximals. The time-traveling human Atari Hitotonari and the Sparkbot Star Dust witnessed a battle between Waspinator and Optimus Primal. However, the two interlopers could not be seen by either of the warriors. Sparkbots Volume 2

Legends comic

Following the Great Reformatting, Waspinator overheard the Maximals talking about the Legends Universe, a dimension where they were all fictional characters. Believing he was a popular enough character to become a powerful ruler in this world, he decided to go there with Rattrap, who was searching for Rhinox. Reformatted into his original Earth mode by Cheetor, Waspinator traversed dimensions and located the Legends version of himself, intending to take control of the local Predacons at Tera-Kura Co.. Bonus Edition Vol. EX His takeover of the company was successful thanks to these Predacons being tiny and easy to bully, but he hadn't enjoyed his position for long before the ghost of Starscream appeared and possessed him again. Bonus Edition Vol. EX Waspinator's body was made to attack Metroplex until Rhinox appeared and rammed him so hard that his head flew off and Starscream's ghost was expelled. Antagony threatened to blast Waspinator if Megatron did not back down. Waspinator's warranty had expired, but it didn't matter as Antagony accidentally wasted her last shot when she sneezed. Do we even need to guess what happened to Waspinator? Visitations

Later, to his credit, Waspinator was the only Predacon aside from Megatron to not be paralyzed in fear at the sight of a Unicron-possessed Windrazor. Of course, Waspinator had just been blown up for the umpteen millionth time. None of the Maximals expressed satisfaction. They always got Waspinator. Always. Paradox

Although 3H Productions folded before the Primeval Dawn comic could be concluded, Dan Khanna revealed that the unproduced ending of Primeval Dawn would have concluded with Waspinator traveling with a victorious Primal Prime's team through the transwarp portal built by the undead Tarantulas to present day Cybertron, thus explaining how Waspinator was able to return to Cybertron to become Thrust.

After the reformatting of Cybertron, Waspinator came under the command of Galvatron. His tiny size and great speed made him an excellent scout and messenger, and he reported to Galvatron that the invading Quintessons had entered a particular canyon that the Predacons had booby-trapped. He seemed very giddy to have a commander who actually found him useful for once. Wreckers: Finale Part II

Later, Waspinator was part of a team of Children of Primus sent to rescue victims of Unicron who had been transported to an isolated, icy planetoid. He didn't really know what he was doing there and neither did Rattrap (who wasn't sure why they hadn't just whacked him on principle). When Sunstorm attacked, the Beast Warriors were luckily warped to the passing Autobot ship OTFCC before being wiped out. During the later battle, Waspinator was blasted his own side after he happily admitted he liked "Buster Witwicky and the Car Wash of Doom". Voice Actor Drama

IDW Beast Wars comics

Waspinator served under Megatron at the tail-end of the Great War. Though the Tripredacus Council sought to let hostilities between the Autobots and the Decepticons die out after Optimus Prime and Galvatron both fell in combat, Megatron had more aggressive plans. His squadron attacked Tigatron when he approached them to broker peace between the two factions. Waspinator wound up getting smushed when an enemy soldier threw another flier into him, which sent Waspinator tumbling underneath Predaking's foot as the gestalt stepped down. Dawn of the Predacus

As Magmatron surveyed the timestream, he witnessed several key moments during the Beast Wars. Among those moments was Starscream's possession of Waspinator's body. The Gathering #1

Waspscream continuity

Later, a divergent timeline's Waspinator was possessed by the immortal spark of Starscream of Primax 206.15 Gamma after the latter's defeat at the hand of the Maximals. When the Quantum Surge hit prehistoric Earth, Starscream was able to influence Waspinator's transmetalization so that the Predacon's third mode would resemble Starscream's own original fighter jet mode. This time around, Starscream permanently took over Waspinator's body, and killed the Maximals before seizing leadership of the Predacons for himself. On returning to Cybertron, 'Waspscream' was reformatted into a technorganic body by the Oracle which Starscream used to battle against Megatron for control of Cybertron's stolen sparks. Waspinator and Erector were walking along when they came across Grimlock, Jazz, and Shockwave, discussing the upcoming nomination for the 2011 Hall of Fame. The trio mistook Erector for Bumblebee, and so spared him any ridicule, but verbally tore in Waspinator, insisting he stood no chance against them. Waspinator countered that he was once ruler over all "fleshie-bots," but the other 'bots wouldn’t hear any of it, and walked off in a huff. Mini Mayhem!

The two had a contest to name the ship, but "Waspinator" lost, and thus the stolen ship was dubbed the Darksyde. "Waspinator" believed Buzzerbot would have been a better name. For reasons known only to Primus, Megatron agreed.

After escaping Cybertron, the Darksyde was intercepted by the Axalon and the Chromia 10, but after an intense space battle, only the Darksyde and the Axalon remained. Megatron ordered "Waspinator" to excecute their planned transwarp jump, opening up a portal which both ships entered. Dawn of Future's Past

When Starscream possessed Waspinator, he granted the Predacon his longevity and the ability to travel through time. Much later, after Cybertron became a technorganic world, the fused Thrust-Waspinator entity, now calling himself Thrustinator, gained a new body, but somehow got separated from his native universe. He met up with Heinrad, and Thrustinator's chronal phase from Starscream helped Heinrad master his own time abilities. In return for aid in "fixing" the past, Heinrad promised to Thrustinator that he would be returned to his home universe. Timeless

Thurstinator was next sent to a prehistoric post-Beast Wars Earth to stabilize the damaged timeline by removing the "anomaly": Packrat. Surprising Packrat by not showing up on Sentinel's scans for Predacon intruders, Thrustinator offered to take Packrat to a Cybertron. The Predacons crashed on Earth in Mexico around 1,000 BC. Acting on Megatron's orders, Tarantulas and Waspinator enslaved the local Natiltec tribe, who saw Waspinator as some sort of "wasp-god", and forced them to mine energon. Silverbolt mounted a heroic rescue, struggling with Waspinator as the humans escape. During the early days of the war, Waspinator served under Bludgeon as part of a team sent to find the lost Titan, Metroplex. On the two-hundred-and-thirty-eighth day of this grueling campaign, Waspinator and his colleagues destroyed a Nibarian outpost because they believed it was between them and their quarry. A hunch from Thundercracker led them further to a planet inhabited by Urtuskians. As Waspinator and the other Decepticons started obliterating the primitive outpost, believing Metroplex was underneath (and also because it was fun), their team was caught up to by a team of Autobots who had been trailing them. Waspinator was the first casualty of this battle, blasted from behind and left stunned. The Hunting Party

Waspinator carried on as a Titan Hunter, even after Bludgeon and Thundercracker were no longer with the team. When the hunters at last found a Titan, Waspinator managed to be the one to deliver a mortal blow—much to his misfortune. The Titan panicked and opened a space bridge, flinging itself and Waspinator through time and space. Eventually, after the Titan's functions had ceased, Waspinator managed to take control of it and was able to use its space bridge-generating power to return to reality. Long afterwards, when Waspinator was drowning his sorrows at a seedy bar somewhere within the universe, he found himself confronted by his old superior, Bludgeon, and Jhiaxus. Upon hearing Waspinator's tale, Jhiaxus convinced the hapless Decepticon to join his party, seeing that his titan-controlling ability could be useful. The group went to Gorlam Prime, where Waspinator pretended to be chased by the Monstructor Six so as to lure Orion Pax and his friends into coming to his "rescue." The ploy worked, and as Pax and the others struggled to hold off Monstructor, Waspinator said he had been brought to the planet to do something "terrible" and made the former Autobot leader realize that the ancient ruins beneath Gorlam Prime's surface were a slumbering Titan. When Pax awakened the Titan to battle Monstructor, Waspinator made his move and connected himself to the Titan so as to take control of it like he had in the past. Under Jhiaxus' orders, Waspinator forced the Titan to teleport to Cybertron. Homecoming

Guiding the Titan to Crystal City, Soundwaves Waspinator was quick to pledge allegiance to Jhiaxus's ally, Shockwave, who used Ore-14 to transform the Titan into the undead Necrotitan. Dark Dawn When the combined forces of Bumblebee's Autobots and Soundwave's Decepticons attacked Crystal City to put a stop to their plans, Shockwave had Waspinator relinquish his stinger, recognizing that the weapon had forged Waspinator's link to the Necrotitan when he had used it to deliver its killing blow. While Waspinator's limited intelligence had been unable to make much sense of the link to the giant's mind, Shockwave used the weapon to much greater effect, taking direct control of the Necrotitan and using it to scatter their attackers. Finest Hour Shockwave then tasked Waspinator with bringing the useful body of Megatron to his chambers, but Galvatron took over this duty as he didn't trust "modern" Cybertronians. Waspinator accompanied him, carrying Megatron's legs, only to be knocked out when Megatron revealed himself to still be alive. The Dead Are Not Enough

"Sigh...why doezz Wazzpinator bother?"

As Waspinator had already served his purpose by providing the Necrotitan, Shockwave punished him for letting Megatron escape by ordering Metalhawk to execute him, but Metalhawk resisted his control and spared the bug. Finis Temporis The two spied on Shockwave as he revealed the disastrous end goal of his plan, after which they were approached by Skywarp who teleported them out to warn the other Transformers. The Becoming As the Autobots and Decepticons formed a group to oppose Shockwave, an unwilling Waspinator was dragged along thanks to his knowledge of Crystal City's layout. As soon as they were teleported into Shockwave's lair, however, he was impaled by Bludgeon and left on the sidelines to lament his lot in life. Black Planet

Six months after the battle with Shockwave, a recovered Waspinator was drinking at Maccadam's Old Oil House when Windblade stopped by. A 'Bot and Her City At some point he had located and gotten thrown out of Starscream's Regenesis mine within Metroplex, and following an attempt on Windblade's life, he commented that she shouldn't have been snooping around in Metroplex either. When this comment caught the attention of Windblade, he assumed she wanted to hurt him and tried to flee, only to be taken down by Chromia. Windblade herself proved more sympathetic to Waspinator's plight and comforted the paranoid 'bot until he agreed to show her the mine. Windblade vol. 1 #2 Their investigation into the mine eventually got them captured by Starscream, but fortunately Chromia, Blurr, and some other neutrals broke them out of jail. Windblade vol. 1 #3

EVERY NOW AND THEN I FALL APAAAARRT

Waspinator later partied it up at Maccadam's some time after Wheeljack's reactivation, sharing a song with Sky-Byte. The World of Tomorrow After a disastrous first contact with Caminus, Waspinator was one of the Decepticons who went to the colony to help the locals. He was confused to find the locals were glad to see him and even asked why they were being nice to him. The Possible Light When Prowl and Devastator attempted to force the Cybertronians off Caminus, Waspinator was the first to see him coming (and to run away). His contribution to the battle was mainly to run around screaming, but he managed to avoid getting stepped on, impaled, or blown up, which is a pretty good outcome for him. Mistakes and Mayhem After the battle was over, Waspinator and Sparkstalker helped repair the damage to Caminus, earning the Decepticons respect from the Camiens. You, Me, and the Universe He was then caught up in the combiner war between Devastator, Superion, Defensor, and Optimus Maximus and was urged to get to safety by Chromia. All That Remains Once the situation finally cooled down and an alliance between Cybertron and Caminus was brokered, Waspinator attended a "Not the End of the World" party at Maccadam's where he danced with Tall and Fat Tankor. A resident of the Legends World, Waspinator attended Transformers Celebration 2014 where he bought some Transformers toys. Legends Bonus Vol. A huge Transformers fan and employee of Tera-Kura Co., Rivals! Tera-Kura Co.! he claimed to know everything about Transformers but also refused to talk about anything else, even with clients. After an incident where he hung up on a client who didn't want to talk Transformers, his boss Megatron broke him into pieces. Buzz Buzz Buzz, Wasps Flyyy At one point, Waspinator was standing behind Rattrap in line at Ravage's toy shop. Bonus Edition Vol. 1

After being beaten again for playing with toys during work hours, Waspinator was approached by a bashful Megatron who asked to see him after work. Believing his boss was hitting on him, he protested that he didn't swing that way, unaware that Megatron just wanted to learn more about Transformers and impress Blackarachnia. President Mega's Requests Agreeing to be Megatron's personal Transformers teacher, Waspinator taught him various Transformer names through use of a song and provided him with material to study on the train. President Mega's Studies When Tankor attacked Tokyo with Roadbuster and Whirl, Waspinator recognized the latter two as Wreckers from a UK Transformers comic, interrupting Tankor's own claims that they were from an '80s mecha anime. During a subsequent lesson, Waspinator attempted to teach his boss about Roadbuster and Whirl's origins, but didn't get far since Megatron was distracted by fantasies about what British Transformers must be like. Waspinator and Rattrap were present when Gelshark arrived in the Legends World, explaining Transformers were fictional in their world and breaking it to him that he wasn't as popular as he hoped. When Windblade appeared in the Legends World, Waspinator initially mistook her for Nijika from Transformers 2010 and, to Megatron's frustration, was the only one to understand her explanation about the Legends World's status as a Zamojin creation. Bonus Edition Vol. 12 His nerdy knowledge came in handy again when Tera-Kura was invaded by another Megatron, as he was able to teach his own Megatron everything there was to know about the newcomer's history. Bonus Edition Vol. 13 He was present at Tokyo Toy Show 2015 where he witnessed Black Convoy causing trouble. Bonus Edition Vol. EX A third Megatron known as Armada Megatron later showed up and started stealing Mini-Con toys from everyone, including Waspinator. Waspinator later bothered the "original Megatron" after he'd assumed the position of chairman of Tera-Kura Co. The Autumn Megatron Festival Chapter Waspinator was present at the show floor where Tera-Kura unveiled their latest product, Nightbird Shadow, to the public. Waspinator watched with envy when Armada Megatron began stealing all the world's Transformers toys, and was shocked to learn that he and the other toy nerds were empowering the Zamojin with their desires. He celebrated when Megatron gave up the toys, and was quick to try and claim a Unicron of Light for himself. Bonus Edition Vol. 18 When the Deadlock of Cloud World showed up, Waspinator was the only fan hardcore enough to recognize him from Transformers Cloud, which he taught the others about. He and the others were then sent to Cloud World themselves when SARA messed up. Bonus Edition Vol. EX The next interdimensional visitor to run into Waspinator was the original Waspinator from another dimension! Meeting his counterpart outside of Tera-Kura Co., Waspinator offered to introduce him to President Megatron. Bonus Edition Vol. EX This turned out to be a mistake, as the much larger and stronger Waspinator proceeded to take over the company and force its employees into servitude. When Chairman Megatron was seemingly killed protecting his employees from Skids, Waspinator commented that he must have been influenced by his time as a good guy in his G-2 days. Bonus Edition Vol. 20 After his company merged with the Decepticon Headmasters, forming the "Decepticon Tera-Kura Co.", Waspinator was included on a chart showing its employees. Bonus Edition Vol. 22 He later attended a meeting during which Chairman Megatron scolded the Headmasters. Waspinator was part of a crowd that cheered for Ginrai after he drove off Devil Z, and was presumably the only person there who knew their savior wasn't Optimus Prime. Bonus Edition Vol. 35 At work, he was among the unlucky employees that an enraged Devil Z took out his anger on, Bonus Edition Vol. 36 and got thrown around by a telekinetic Apeface. Bonus Edition Vol. 38 When a Scorponok attacked Tokyo, Waspinator correctly identified it as the Scorponok from "The Rebirth" and not The Headmasters. When Ginrai's body turned into that of Magna Convoy, Waspinator explained who Magna Convoy was. Even he didn't know which universe Convoy came from, however, so he borrowed Alpha Trion's ultra-drill to summon Delta Magnus and interview him on the matter. Bonus Edition Vol. EX Waspinator was among the employees charged with hiding Metroplex's transformation cog during an attack on Tera-Kura, but failed to protect it from Full-Tilt. Decepticon Civil War When Trypticon was revived, he transformed into a monstrous mobile base mode that Waspinator couldn't identify from any previous fiction. Notes

• It is unclear just how Waspinator traveled from prehistoric Earth to future Cybertron in Beast Machines, presumably under his own power. Perhaps if he somehow managed to reach escape velocity and traveled to Cybertron at sub-light speed, it would have taken long enough that he would have "caught up" to the main timeframe. A concrete explanation would have been provided in the "Primeval Dawn" comic, with Waspinator (among many other Earth-bound characters) traveling back to Cybertron via transwarp portal. However, the bankruptcy of 3H meant these final issues were never fully written, much less published, and all we really know about what they were going to say came from message board posts from author Dan Khanna. Since the material was never completed or published, fans may not necessarily accept them as storyline facts and could thus leave the mechanics of Waspinator's return an unsolved mystery. Bob Skir said in 2013 that it's a story he'd like to tell, joking Waspinator's journey must have been "worthy of Homer".
• Ever wonder why Waspinator became the whipping boy of Beast Wars? Early in the series, his buzzing, drawling method of speaking frustrated story editors Larry DiTillio and Bob Forward, as they found it was taking up too much time out of the episodes. To get around this, but still meet with the requirement that he appear regularly, they took to blasting him to bits so that he wouldn't have to talk! Of course, this only wound up endearing him to the writers and the fans, and his frequent brushes with destruction became a running gag done for fun, rather than a script requirement.

• Waspinator was originally chosen by Hasbro to be one of the characters killed off for the second season of the Beast Wars cartoon to help make way for new characters (read: product). However, Forward and DiTillio convinced them to spare Waspinator on the grounds of his popularity with the online fan-base, so Terrorsaur and Scorponok took the plunge instead.
  • His popularity was shown again when he won the Transformers Hall of Fame 2011 fan vote, beating three iconic 1984/5 characters and a guy with an entendre for a name.
• Waspinator was originally slated to appear in the very first Beast Wars video game, and even had a character model built. However, he was ultimately unused and only appeared in footage taken from the Beast Wars cartoon.

• Waspinator has a yellow tongue in robot mode.
• While Waspinator usually refers to other characters by nicknames, he is fairly consistent about calling Megatron and Optimus Primal by their real names. (Fairly.) He also refers to Inferno by name at least twice, and Tarantulas at least once.
• Waspinator is the only member of the Beast Wars Predacon lineup who was there from the beginning and remains alive for the entire course of both shows.
• He also has the honor of having the last line in Beast Wars, and just barely misses the last line in Beast Machines.
• Waspinator never once makes a proper landing while in his beast form.
• Technically, Waspinator's beast mode is that of a female wasp, given that males do not possess a stinger. He would probably find this objectionable, along with everything else in his life.
• In the Japanese dub of Beast Wars, Waspinator retained his verbal tic of making a buzzing noise while speaking, but it was rendered differently. Instead of stressing syllables of certain words to make a buzzing noise, he would end and punctuate sentences with bun, which is the Japanese onomatopoeia equivalent for "buzz".
