Let's see what you can see...

There are so many variations of insignia across the breadth of the Transformers brand that it might be a fool's errand to try and list them all — but we are those fools!

While many of these insignia, such as that of the Wreckers, are used in multiple continuities or families, others, such as the Dinobot insignia, are confined to only one.

Factions

[edit]

Autobots

[edit]

In the real world, the Autobot insignia was derived from the head of Prowl's toy.

Its in-universe origin varies: in Generation 1 cartoon continuity it was applied by the Quintessons to their "consumer good" creations, while in Marvel Comics continuity it is seemingly based on the Last Autobot. In 2005 IDW continuity it was "created" by Shockwave, who claimed it to be the face of Primus, as part of an ontological paradox.

Decepticons

[edit]

In the real world, the Decepticon insignia was based on Soundwave's toy head. In the 1980s the crest of the symbol usually had a "squared-off" bottom, while modern portrayals generally have the crest pointed at the base.

Its origin in-universe is generally less-explored than that of the Autobots. In the Generation 1 cartoon continuity it was a symbol applied to the Quintessons' "military hardware", while in the live-action film series, Aligned continuity family, and One, it is based on the face of Megatronus.

Maximals

[edit]

The Maximal insignia is a stylised canine or feline face, reflecting the Maximals being primarily made up of mammals and birds.

Predacons

[edit]

The Predacon insignia is a stylised insect head, as the Predacons consist mainly of invertebrates and reptiles.

[edit]
Generation 1 Predacons

These symbols appeared on the walls of a transwarp shunt room in IDW's Beast Wars: The Gathering. They depict the beast modes of the original Predacon combiner team.

Sparkbots
Transformers: Devastation

Each playable Autobot has a Generation-1 style insignia next to their name on the character select screen, combining details of the classic Autobot symbol and the character's head (in Grimlock's case, his beast mode head). These symbols also serve as icons for certain character-related achievements. Other characters from the game also receive their own insignia as achievement icons.

Rise of the Beasts Maximals

These Mesoamerican-inspired symbols appeared on the packaging of the Maximals in the Rise of the Beasts toyline.

Religious symbols

[edit]
The Thirteen

This unified set of symbols was created by Transformers brand legend Marcelo Matere to represent the Transformers' long-gestating "definitive" pantheon of deities as part of the 2018 Power of the Primes franchise.

  1. Before you get too excited, it is worth noting that while this symbol did initially surface in unused Power of the Primes assets displayed alongside the other thirteen, it consistently appears in published Age of the Primes materials specifically in place of the Thirteenth Prime, implying it may be some manner of pre-production version of that insignia grabbed in a rush rather than representing some super-secret fourteenth god.

The alternate reality of the Shattered Glass timeline posits an army of evil Cybertronians united under the leering visage of a purple insignia badge... though perhaps not the one you were expecting.
