: Released in the first year of The Transformers, Skywarp transforms into an F-15 Eagle fighter jet, by a process which essentially involves removing and reattaching most of his plane parts. Though it is possible to do so without removing all of them, this rather piecemeal design and the fact that neither mode uses all his parts means it can be quite difficult to find a complete original Skywarp on the secondary market. He began life as a Diaclone "Jet Robo", but unlike team-mates Starscream and Thundercracker, with whom he shares his mold, his distinctive black-and-purple deco did not originate in that line.

: Skywarp is armed with a pair of missile launchers that mount on his arms in robot mode, and under his wings in jet mode, with a pair of specialized projectiles for each. In jet mode, two short rockets are fitted into the launchers to make them resemble the drop tanks a real F-15 carries, while in robot mode, they are replaced with the long barrels of Skywarp's machine guns. The original Diaclone version of the mold featured spring-loaded firing mechanisms in these launchers; while this feature was removed for the Hasbro release of the toy, it was left intact for the Takara version, and all subsequent reissues.

: While the earliest releases of Skywarp were basically identical to the Diaclone mold, some small modifications were soon made to the figure which became the standard for all subsequent reissues of the mold. These included the hollowing out of the inner edges of his wings and the tips of his tail-wings, the lengthening of the pegs on his wings to make them fit more securely, and the addition of extra clips on the inner sides of his fist-gauntlets, allowing them to grip his arms better. Like all his 1984 brethren, Skywarp gained a factory-applied rubsign in 1985, which was added to the left side of his fuselage.

: Presumably by mistake, the stats on Skywarp, Starscream and Thundercracker's Tech Specs were switched around. Skywarp's box was given Starscream's numbers, giving him a high intelligence and rank that stood in contrast to the bio printed next to them.

:Skywarp is armed with a pair of missile launchers that mount on his arms in robot mode, and under his wings in jet mode, with a pair of specialized projectiles for each.
: Early Hasbro stock photos of Skywarp used for his instructions, his packaging and the 1984 pack-in catalog (right) show him with a purple plastic nosecone. This was changed to a soft, black rubber nosecone when the toy was actually released. The same stock photos also show him with purple launchers with black triggers and muzzle rings, black feet, black shins, black outer arm panels, purple horizontal stabilizers, and both sets of missiles in purple rather than black. These stock photos were also later used to promote Takara's 2001 reissue (see below).

:While the earliest releases of Skywarp were basically identical to the Diaclone mold, some small modifications were soon made to the figure which became the standard for all subsequent reissues of the mold. These included the hollowing out of the inner edges of his wings and the tips of his tail-wings, the lengthening of the pegs on his wings, and the addition of extra clips on the inner sides of his fist-gauntlets, allowing them to grip his arms better but creating a visible slit on them. Like all his 1984 brethren, Skywarp gained a factory-applied rubsign in 1985, which was added to the left side of his fuselage.

:For some reason, the stats on Skywarp's, Starscream's and Thundercracker's Tech Specs were switched around. Skywarp's box was given Starscream's numbers, giving him a high intelligence and rank that stood in contrast to the bio printed next to them.
: The Mexican version by Plasticos IGA retained the purple plastic nosecone, which was made out of solid plastic in this version (and had a slightly rounded off tip). Additionally, the front landing gear was made out of plastic as opposed to the die-cast metal version found on the Hasbro release.

:Early Hasbro stock photos of Skywarp (left) show him with a plastic purple nosecone. This was changed to a soft, black rubber nosecone when the toy was actually released. However, a Mexican variant retained the purple plastic nosecone. The same stock photos also show him with purple launchers with black triggers and muzzle rings, black feet, black shins, black outer arm panels, purple horizontal stabilizers, and both sets of purple missiles. These stock photos were also later used to promote Takara's 2001 reissue (see below).
: The Italian release of Skywarp (as "Corvo") by GiG put him in a generic "Distructor Planes" box, featuring names and tech specs for all three planes in the assortment.

: Sharing a mold once again with Thundercracker, Skywarp transforms into a white Rafale fighter jet with spring-loaded one-step transformation from jet to robot. The two halves of his rifle store in his lower legs. Like all Machine Wars toys, Skywarp was an exclusive to KB Toys stores and related stores like Toy Liquidators.

: This toy is gang-molded with the other three Basic molds in the line. Specifically, his head and inner robot parts share plastic with Hubcap, and his jet parts share plastic with Mirage, plus he shares the pearlescent-gray canopy plastic with, well, everyone.

: Curiously, Skywarp is the only Basic Decepticon to have a Decepticon symbol on him... and it's the Generation 2 Decepticon symbol at that. Which is appropriate, given this mold was originally developed for Generation 2 as Thundercracker.

: Robotmasters Skywarp is a redeco of Starscream from the same series, a smaller yet more advanced version of the original toy, adding more articulation and reducing the amount of part-forming required. He was available only in a two-pack with Thundercracker, which also came with a Decepticon sigil pin and chromed missile pods. This set was the very last product released in the Robotmasters line and wasn't even strictly sold in a box from that series; instead, it used an e-HOBBY Generation 1 reissue box, with a small Robotmasters sticker in the corner tab noting its origin from the front.
: Robotmasters Skywarp is a redeco of Starscream from the same series, a re-imagining of the original The Transformers figure retaining its basic transformation scheme, but designed to be closer to the animation model, with longer legs, greater articulation, and integrated parts that do not require detachment during transformation. The only pieces that now need to be removed are Skywarp's rifles, which move from his wings to his arms. He has peg-holes on each outer bicep, top of the tricep, and one on the inner right fist, allowing the rifles to be mounted in multiple positions. These holes are also compatible with the various other weapons used throughout the Robotmasters line.

: Skywarp also came with two "missile pods" based on weapons Starscream used but once, in the original cartoon episode "Fire on the Mountain". These chromed accessories plug into the square holes in his chest, and feature opening covers that reveal (non-firing) missiles within.

: He was available only in a two-pack with Thundercracker, which also came with a Decepticon sigil pin. This set was the very last product released in the Robotmasters line, and wasn't even strictly sold in a box from that series; instead, it used an e-HOBBY reissue box (most likely the one used by Magnificus), with unique stickers applied to add the Robotmasters branding, Skywarp and Thundercracker's names, and advertizing the pin.

: Classics Skywarp is a Target-exclusive redeco and slight retool of Classics Starscream, transforming into an F-15 Eagle fighter jet, though with a canopy like that of an F-14 Tomcat. As with most Classics toys, he also features a heat-sensitive rubsign.

Unlike previous (and future) figures, the shade of purple used for this figure has a more reddish tint to it. He comes with a pair of spring-loaded missile launchers that can be mounted on his biceps or used as hand-held weapons in robot mode and can attach under his wings in vehicle mode. As with most Classics toys, he also features a heat-sensitive rubsign.

: Skywarp was slightly retooled from the earlier Starscream figures. The retool is present in the jet intake area. The slope of his shoulders was decreased from Starscream's, and a fifth rectangle was added to the vertical area. This retooled version was used for all subsequent releases of the mold: Ramjet, Thundercracker, Thrust, and Dirge, as well as Acid Storm from Universe. At the end of Classics Starscream's production run, he too used this version of the mold.

: Stock photography of Classics Skywarp showed a more detailed color scheme than the actual released figure. Much like Classics Ultra Magnus, the changes were most likely due to an overabundance of paint operations. This more detailed version was shown at 2006, and at least one sample found its way to a collector's hands. The sample also used the original Starscream mold, and not the retooled version mentioned above.

:As a redeco of the MP-11 release, Skywarp is likely to be plagued with the same quality control issues.

:Skywarp was only released in China via Hasbro Asia under the TakaraTomy label; marking the second time an original TakaraTomy Masterpiece toy wasn't released for the Japanese market (Masterpiece Megatron Gold Version was the first).

:On November 30, 2016 MP-11SW Skywarp was released in Japan for the first time as a Mall exclusive. There are notable differences between this release and the original almost two years prior. The shade of purple used on the later release is more warm and less cool in tone. His biceps and knee flaps are now molded in black plastic rather than in purple plastic painted a glossy black. The inner portion of his upper chest is no longer painted silver, but molded in silver plastic. Many of the paint operations are also slightly different in color from the earlier Hasbro Asia release. Hasbro Asia also re-released the figure to coincide with the Japanese release.

:When purchased from a seller supplied by Hasbro Asia, Skywarp comes with a collector coin, mounted on a card resembling his wings, complete with his signature wing stripes. The coin was reissued in 2016, without change, alongside the figure.

:Soon after release, there were numerous complaints from both Japanese and Western collectors about the poor quality control for both Thundercracker and Skywarp. Skywarp's most common fault was missing paint for one of his shoulders. Some reported both toys suffering misassembly issues such as having two left or two right thighs.

:Several minor changes were made to this mold for this release. The holes for his missile launchers in his arms were widened, as were the launcher's insertion pegs. : A Walmart exclusive redeco of the original Masterpiece Starscream mold. Just like Starscream, Skywarp is able to switch between two different faces. This release uses the Starscream's stoic and smirking alternate faces rather than the Takara Masterpiece Skywarp's newly-tooled stoic and snarling faces. Hasbro designer Joe Kyde felt the alternate snarling face did not fit Skywarp's prankster personality, so he went with the Starscream smirk face instead when designing the deco for Hasbro's release. As a result of gang molding, Skywarp also uses Starscream's stoic face, the decision being the difference between Skywarp and Starscream's stoic face was negligible enough not to make a significant difference. The toy also features a more G1 toy styled deco rather than cartoon-based, particularly in the yellow eye color and wing stripes. His purple more closely matches that of the original toy than the purple used on the Takara version, and features a lighter flat black, like the original toy, instead of Takara's darker glossy black. The Hasbro version replaces some of the dark gray of the Takara version with a dark silver, removes the arm and chest striping, but adds additional red detailing, while removing some as well. Much like Hasbro's Starscream, he does not feature any of the warning or slogan tampographs, but features tampographed striping, Decepticon symbols, and some additional paint details not present on the Takara version. The nosecone features black paint over purple plastic, allowing for easy customization of "Mexican Masterpiece Skywarp".

:In car mode, small wings are supposed to be able to flip out from under Skywarp's rear wheels, giving him the appearance of a flying car. Unfortunately, this gimmick suffers from a rather nasty design flaw: there is simply not enough clearance under the car for the wheels to be able to pass and hinge through, and attempting to do so will result in the plastic reinforcement struts underneath deforming the rims and chipping the tires. His door panels also tend to detach from their ball joints very easily.

:This Siege four-pack version of Skywarp is a retool of Voyager Class Starscream from the same line with a new slightly sneering face, transforming from a heavily Generation 1-inspired robot to a Cybertronian "tetrajet" based on the Seekers' appearance in "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1" and back; although the jet mode has the robot legs sticking out from the undercarriage. In an unusual move, Skywarp's plastic is molded in a light charcoal gray rather than his traditional black. He includes two "HPI Null-Ray Laser Launchers," which can mount on his upper arms, or under the wings in jet mode, and three Battle Master figures, Fracas, Shrute, and Terror-Daxtyl, respectively redecoed from Firedrive, Aimless, and Pteraxadon, each with their respective Fire Blasts.

:This set was an Amazon exclusive for North America, which also labelled the set as "Final Strike Figure Series: Part 2", and a Mall exclusive in Japan. In an uncharacteristic irony, Skywarp's face features a sneer, but with the help of customizing, you can swap his head for Thundercracker or Red Wing's to patch things up a bit.

:The set was reissued in 2025, now no longer an Amazon exclusive. While most of the set remains unchanged, the transparent red paint on Skywarp’s eyes is significantly thinner than on the original, causing his eyes to appear orange instead of red.

:Earthrise Skywarp is a redeco and very slight retooling of Voyager Class Starscream from the same line, transforming into an F-15 jet based on his traditional alternate mode, and features a pair of G1-accurate null-rays in cartoon-accurate purple. His design and transformation scheme is heavily based on his 2006 Classics figure while adding points of articulation the earlier figure did not have such as pivoting ankles, a more expressive ball-jointed head, and hinges that allow the wings to fold backward in robot mode. He uses Starscream's pre-tooled alternate head. His head and chest are susceptible to paint chipping due to the transformation scheme. While the null-rays can be wielded by his pair of hands, it's almost impossible for him to properly hold them due to the size of his forearms.

: Skywarp was packaged with Thundercracker as part of a Cybertronian Villains set exclusive to Target in the United States, and Toys"R"Us in Canada. It was also available at general retail in Hong Kong. In Japan, the set was released as a Mall exclusive.

:Like many of the toys since the War for Cybertron trilogy line, Skywarp suffers from a case of photodegradation, as his unpaintable purple pieces discolors to a maroon shade.

:Like all Earthrise toys, the inside of the back of the Seeker two-pack package includes an exclusive clip-and-save piece of a larger star map. Also in the box is a thin red piece of transparent plastic with which to read the star map. The two-pack contains the unlabelled location of Quintessa.

:Like all other uses of the mold, Skywarp has a missing molded panel-line detail on the right wing hinge that is supposed to curve in towards the body of the jet. The reason for this missing detail is likely due to it missing from the metal mold itself.

:*Accessory: "Energon Warp Fork"
Mark Maher (Hasbro)

: Part of the first wave of Legacy Core Class toys, Skywarp is a redeco of Kingdom Starscream. Frankly, we're surprised he didn't come sooner.

: A roughly Legends-sized toy that can interact with Titan Class figures, Legacy Skywarp's sculpting is heavily inspired by his larger Earthrise counterpart, though featuring a black pelvis instead of a silver one. Instead of coming with a redeco of Starscream's Null Ray accessories, Skywarp comes with a... some kind of a tuning fork-like weapon called the "Energon Warp Fork", which can be plugged into the underside of his nose cone while in vehicle mode.

: Skywarp retains the hexagonal peg holes molded into Starscream's shoulders, so the figure can still support Starscream's Null Ray armaments. However, the Null Rays are prone to popping off when inserted into the peg holes due to their hexagonal shape. The stock render seen in the character bio (unlocked by scanning the QR code) also depicts him with both the Null Rays and the Warp Fork, with the former being removed for budget reasons. It should be noted that the Warp Fork was likely meant to have extra grey paint operations on the red paint details.

: Skywarp's head is molded in black, greatly reducing the risk of paint chipping and scratching suffered from Kingdom Starscream.

: As seen on Kingdom Hot Rod's card illustration and Skywarp's instructions, the Energon Warp Fork is one of the three components of a combined sword. The horizontal 3mm post on the fork also prevents it from being adequately positioned when attached. This can be amended by slightly trimming off the post, though this method prevents the accessory from attaching to Skywarp's nose cone.

:For Japanese collectors, 2 out of the 3 components of the combined sword were not domestically available in Japan, as TakaraTomy did not release Iguanus and Skywarp, requiring those figures to be imported in order to complete the weapon.

: This mold was also redecoed into Core Class Thundercracker.

Unlike the Vintage G1 release, however, Retro Skywarp has been redecoed to match his appearance in the original Transformers animated series, more specifically The Transformers: The Movie. He remains a mash-up of Starscream's Commemorative Series and The Transformers Collection reissues, with the former's elongated null rays and cluster bombs (which, due to their new length, can be fired from the now-functional spring-loaded missile launchers) and the latter's gun mode Megatron accessory. Said gun splits at the handle to fit in the retooled fists, and can be "stored" underneath Skywarp's jet mode by slotting a squared bracket on the handle into one of the square holes in his chest.

: Part of the thirty-first wave of Studio Series Voyager-class toys (the second wave released in 2026), Skywarp is a redeco of that line's Thundercracker, transforming from highly cartoon-accurate robot to F-15 Eagle-esque jet and back, with his robot mode proportions hewing very closely to his third Masterpiece iteration. He includes two Null-Rays which can mount on his biceps, or underneath his wings in jet mode. The stabilizer fins on his legs are attached using a standard 5mm connection, but can optionally be removed and attached to his back for a cleaner silhouette.

: Unfortunately, his shoulders are black instead of the cartoon-accurate purple, thanks to Thundercracker and the inevitable Starscream needing their shoulders' color to match their biceps.

A redeco of Threezero's MDLX Starscream, Skywarp is an original design inspired by the original cartoon but with aesthetics in the vein of the live-action movies. Skywarp is a smaller-scale, non-transforming action figure in the vein of contemporary collector-oriented lines like Figma and S.H. Figuarts. Like those lines, the figure is extremely well-articulated and detailed, with interchangeable hands, faces, and accessories. He features his ever-present null-ray cannons and two dagger-like blades.

Skywarp has always looked and will always look a lot like Starscream. There are many toys of Starscream and where there is a Starscream toy, a Skywarp toy soon follows.

Toys

[edit]

The Transformers

[edit]

"He's a Starscream redeco, Thew, there's a hundred million just like him!"
"Not to me there's not."
  • Skywarp (Decepticon Plane, 1984/1985)
  • Takara ID number: 23
  • Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 missiles, 2 "Machine Guns", left & right wings, left & right rudders, left & right tail fins, landing gear
  • Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy), Jeffrey Mangiat (packaging artist)
Released in the first year of The Transformers, Skywarp transforms into an F-15 Eagle fighter jet, by a process which essentially involves removing and reattaching most of his plane parts.
Skywarp is armed with a pair of missile launchers that mount on his arms in robot mode, and under his wings in jet mode, with a pair of specialized projectiles for each.
While the earliest releases of Skywarp were basically identical to the Diaclone mold, some small modifications were soon made to the figure which became the standard for all subsequent reissues of the mold.
Presumably by mistake, the stats on Skywarp, Starscream and Thundercracker's Tech Specs were switched around. Skywarp's box was given Starscream's numbers, giving him a high intelligence and rank that stood in contrast to the bio printed next to them.
Early Hasbro stock photos of Skywarp used for his instructions, his packaging and the 1984 pack-in catalog (right) show him with a purple plastic nosecone.
The Mexican version by Plasticos IGA retained the purple plastic nosecone, which was made out of solid plastic in this version (and had a slightly rounded off tip). Additionally, the front landing gear was made out of plastic as opposed to the die-cast metal version found on the Hasbro release.
The Italian release of Skywarp (as "Corvo") by GiG put him in a generic "Distructor Planes" box, featuring names and tech specs for all three planes in the assortment.
This mold was redecoed into Sunstorm and retooled to make Dirge, Ramjet, and Thrust.

Machine Wars

[edit]
After his near-fatal encounter with the Invert Colors function.
  • Skywarp (Basic, 1997)
    • Accessories: 2-part rifle
Sharing a mold once again with Thundercracker, Skywarp transforms into a white Dassault Rafale fighter jet with spring-loaded one-step transformation from jet to robot. The two halves of his rifle store in his lower legs. Like all Machine Wars toys, Skywarp was an exclusive to KB Toys stores and related stores like Toy Liquidators.
This toy is gang-molded with the other three Basic molds in the line. Specifically, his head and inner robot parts share plastic with Hubcap, and his jet parts share plastic with Mirage, plus he shares the pearlescent-gray canopy plastic with, well, everyone.
Curiously, Skywarp is the only Basic Decepticon to have a Decepticon symbol on him... and it's the Generation 2 Decepticon symbol at that. Which is appropriate, given this mold was originally developed for Generation 2 as Thundercracker.
The toy was repurposed as the Skywarp drones.

Collector's Edition

[edit]

  • Skywarp (reissue, 2001)
    • ID number: Set C
    • Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 missiles, 2 "Machine Guns", left & right wings, left & right rudders, left & right tail fins, landing gear
The original Skywarp toy was reissued for the first time in 2001 as part of Takara's small "Collector's Edition" series, which made several Generation 1 toys available as convention exclusives. Sold in new open-faced packaging with no notable changes from the original figure, Skywarp was an exclusive at the Japanese science fiction convention "Super Festival 21", available only in a set with Thundercracker and limited to 1000 pieces. The pair are often mistakenly identified as e-HOBBY exclusives.

Commemorative Series

[edit]
The Commemorative Series retooled Skywarp. Robot mode... that's okay. Jet? Not so much.
  • Skywarp (reissue, 2003)
    • Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 missiles, 2 "Machine Guns", left & right wings, left & right rudders, left & right tail fins, landing gear
The original Skywarp toy was made available again as part of Hasbro's line of Commemorative Series reissues. Released in the fourth wave of the series, it featured functional missile launchers for the first time on a Hasbro version of the toy, but because the launchers now worked, both sets of missiles had to be lengthened for safety reasons. His machine guns didn't turn out too bad; the missiles didn't fare so well. Rather than correct the erroneous Tech Spec numbers from Skywarp's original release, this reissue retained them and instead features a slightly re-written bio to remove the contradictions.

Universe (2003)

[edit]
Like Mirage, except he can fly.
  • Skywarp (Deluxe, 2003)
    • Accessories: 2 missiles
Universe Skywarp is a redeco of Beast Machines Jetstorm in his Generation 1 colors. He transforms into a Cybertronic fighter jet, armed with two spring-loaded projectile launchers that can fire orange "energon" bolts. These launchers end up in his arms in robot mode. He has a third robot mode that collapses the legs around the cockpit (oh hush), with flip-out panels revealing an extra pair of thrusters. His spark crystal is revealed by flipping the purple hatch on his back. The crystal is molded with the Dinobots design (by that point this was the only style being manufactured anymore) with a Decepticon insignia tampographed on top of it, oddly facing the opposite direction from the design molded into the crystal.
Although most previous versions of the mold have the wingtips swept forward in vehicle mode, Skywarp was packaged and depicted in his instructions with the wingtips swept back. His fictional appearances, however, use the conventional arrangement shown here.
Skywarp was also used to make Beast Machines Sonic Attack Jet, Robots in Disguise Storm Jet, and Robots in Disguise Jhiaxus.

Smallest Transforming Transformers

[edit]
  • Skywarp (2003)
    • ID number: GTF X-1
    • Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, left & right wings, left & right tailfins, landing gear
Part of the first wave of Smallest Transforming Transformers product, Skywarp is, of course, a redeco of this line's Starscream. Like all toys in the series, he is a tiny, simplified version of the original Generation 1 toy, transforming into an F-15 fighter jet, with most of the accessories from the original toy faithfully translated save for his machine guns. As with all previous waves of Smallest Transforming Transformers, these figures were sold blindpacked, with Skywarp as one of the wave's two rare chase figures
This mold was redecoed into Smallest Transforming Thundercracker, and retooled to make Thrust.

Robotmasters

[edit]
Now with the proper articulation for down-stair-pushing.
  • Skywarp & Thundercracker (Multi-pack, 2005)
  • Release date: August 11, 2005
  • Accessories: 2 rifles, 2 missile pods
Robotmasters Skywarp is a redeco of Starscream from the same series, a re-imagining of the original The Transformers figure retaining its basic transformation scheme, but designed to be closer to the animation model, with longer legs, greater articulation, and integrated parts that do not require detachment during transformation.
Skywarp also came with two "missile pods" based on weapons Starscream used but once, in the original cartoon episode "Fire on the Mountain". These chromed accessories plug into the square holes in his chest, and feature opening covers that reveal (non-firing) missiles within.
He was available only in a two-pack with Thundercracker, which also came with a Decepticon sigil pin.

Classics

[edit]

"TARGET acquired, lol".
  • Ultra Magnus vs Skywarp: Battle For Autobot City (Multi-pack, 2006)
    • Accessories: Left & right missile launchers, 2 missiles
Classics Skywarp is a redeco and slight retool of Classics Deluxe Class Starscream, transforming into an F-15 Eagle fighter jet, though with a canopy like that of an F-14 Tomcat.
Skywarp was slightly retooled from the earlier Starscream figures. The retool is present in the jet intake area. The slope of his shoulders was decreased from Starscream's, and a fifth rectangle was added to the vertical area. This retooled version was used for all subsequent releases of the mold, and was also used as a running change on Starscream.
Skywarp was only available as part of a two-pack with Ultra Magnus exclusive to Target in the United States. The set's price was $19.99, despite including both a Voyager Class and Deluxe Class mold in it, which would be approximately $30 worth of toys if they had been sold separately. The pack was also available in Woolworth stores throughout the United Kingdom.
Stock photography of Classics Skywarp showed a more detailed color scheme than the actual released figure. Much like Classics Ultra Magnus, the changes were most likely due to an overabundance of paint operations. This more detailed version was shown at BotCon 2006, and at least one sample found its way to a collector's hands. The sample also used the original Starscream mold, and not the retooled version mentioned above.

Masterpiece

[edit]

Takara finally remembered what colors the Seekers are supposed to be.
Masterpiece Skywarp was released in Japan in September of 2007. He is a redeco of the Masterpiece MP-3 Starscream mold in black, gray, silver, and purple, though the purple and silver are more minimal than usual. Skywarp is able to switch between a minimally retooled stoic face and a new snarly face, retooled from Starscream's previous smirk. The tiny Doctor Arkeville pilot figurine (this time molded black) is also included, as well as a clasp for jet mode Skywarp to hold the gun mode Megatron that came with Masterpiece MP-1 Convoy/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime.
He admits to being Cyclonus? Haha, what a prankster!
The sticker sheet includes Skywarp-esque stripes, as well as several whimsical squadron markings.
The second pressing of Masterpiece Skywarp (released in October 2008) features an assembly error: his left and right pectorals are flipped. This misassembly does not affect transformation at all, and is really only noticeable when compared to prior Masterpiece Seekers. The September 2007 pressing of Masterpiece Skywarp is assembled correctly. Masterpiece Thundercracker is misassembled as well.
It is a common misconception that the stoic face on Takara's Masterpiece Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker are the same, when all of them are in fact different sculpts.
This mold was later used for the Masterpiece version of Thundercracker. It was also redecoed and retooled to create the eleventh Masterpiece figure, Starscream.

Just to fool you into thinking that there isn't a third Masterpiece Seeker mold being developed.
A redeco of the newer Masterpiece MP-11 Starscream mold, Skywarp features some extensive retooling to wind the Masterpiece Seeker design back into the more Generation 1-accurate look, with most of the robot mode being newly tooled parts, including chunkier legs that now incorporate his tail-fins, retooled shoulders and wingtips that no longer curve into one another, a new head (with collapsible head fins), new heel spurs that flip out for added support in robot mode, and re-engineered Machine Guns attached to extending armatures that mean they no longer have to be removed for transformation.
The figure features flip-up missile racks built into his pectorals. He comes with the original version of the Megatron gun that first came with Masterpiece MP-1 Convoy. He also comes with a Doctor Arkeville pilot figure identical to the previous MP-6 release.
Skywarp's deco is heavily based on his cartoon appearance and features the rarely reproduced in toy form entirely purple shoulders and arm cannons. Despite the focus on cartoon accuracy in his deco, he carries over the striping on his forearms, shoulders, and pectorals similar to his original MP-6 Masterpiece release.
As a redeco of the MP-11 release, Skywarp is likely to be plagued with the same quality control issues.
Skywarp was only released in China via Hasbro Asia under the TakaraTomy label; marking the second time an original TakaraTomy Masterpiece toy wasn't released for the Japanese market (Masterpiece Megatron Gold Version was the first).
On November 30, 2016 MP-11SW Skywarp was released in Japan for the first time as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive.
When purchased from a seller supplied by Hasbro Asia, Skywarp comes with a collector coin, mounted on a card resembling his wings, complete with his signature wing stripes. The coin was reissued in 2016, without change, alongside the figure.

Back in Black (and purple)!
  • Skywarp Ver. 2.0 (December 25, 2021)
    • ID number: MP-52+SW
    • Accessories: 3 alternate faces, 5 effect parts, 2 null rays, 2-part display base, Megatron gun
A redeco of Masterpiece Starscream Ver. 2.0, the second version of Masterpiece Skywarp was first announced by TakaraTomy as part of a competition—those who purchase all three Ver.2.0 Seekers will receive an add-on kit for Starscream; giving him his iconic crown and cape from The Transformers: The Movie. The toy's stock photography was unveiled a few months after the competition was announced.
Skywarp comes with many accessories, including 3 alternate faces, 5 effect parts, a stand for his jet mode, a pair of null rays, and a non-transforming figure of Megatron in his gun mode. His jet mode can half-transform into a Gerwalk-styled "Alternate Transformation" which is based on the episode Dinobot Island, Part 2, as seen in the figure's stock photography. Skywarp is colored in a cartoon-accurate lilac color, as opposed to the neon purple found on most of his toy releases.
Like Thundercracker, Skywarp was released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive to Japan.
This mold was also used to make Thundercracker.

Titanium Series

[edit]
Titanium Series War Within Skywarp is a redeco of Thundercracker, transforming into a Cybertronian "tetrajet" as reimagined by Don Figueroa. As with all 6-inch Titanium Cybertron Heroes, he is constructed mostly of fully painted die-cast metal. He was available only at Hasbro Toy Shop after the Titanium line had already been cancelled, and also Hasbro Toy Shop's booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2008.
This mold was also used to make War Within Starscream, Sunstorm, and Thrust.

Henkei! Henkei!

[edit]
Good luck finding me.
  • Skywarp (September 2008)
    • Accessories: 2 missile launchers (left and right), 2 missiles
Henkei! Henkei! Skywarp is a Toy Hobby Market exclusive redeco of Henkei! Henkei! Starscream. Skywarp and his fellow Seeker Thundercracker were opened for pre-order on May 22 through June 20, and mailed out in September 2008.
Soon after release, there were numerous complaints from both Japanese and foreign collectors about the poor quality control for both Thundercracker and Skywarp. Skywarp's most common fault was missing paint for one of his shoulders. Some reported both toys suffering misassembly issues such as having two left or two right thighs.
Several minor changes were made to this mold for this release. The holes for his missile launchers in his arms were widened, as were the launcher's insertion pegs. The wing's missile launcher insertion points were lengthened and are now curved at the end. The last rectangle on his air intakes was further modified from the Classics version, this time the bottom most rectangle goes completely across the air intake's surface rather than just the center. Henkei! Henkei! Thundercracker and Universe Starscream also saw most of these changes.

Universe (2008)

[edit]
What is weirder than a Hasbro release having more accurate colors than its Takara original? Why, that this is the second time it happened with this exact same mold!
  • Masterpiece Skywarp (2009)
    • Accessories: 2 "Machine Guns", 2 missile racks, Doctor Arkeville pilot figurine, gun clip, two-piece display stand
A Walmart exclusive redeco of the original Masterpiece Starscream mold.
The tiny Doctor Arkeville pilot figurine (molded in black with no paint applications) is also included, as well as a clasp for jet mode Skywarp to hold the gun mode Megatron that came with Masterpiece Convoy/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime and a stand (featuring Skywarp's name) with a support beam for jet or robot mode.
Masterpiece Skywarp was also available as an Argos exclusive in the United Kingdom.

Encore

[edit]

  • Skywarp & Thundercracker (reissue multi-pack, 2008)
    • ID number 11
    • Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 missiles, 2 "Machine Guns", left & right wings, left & right rudders, left & right tail fins, landing gear
Skywarp's original toy was reissued again as part of TakaraTomy's Encore series, this time in a two-pack with his erstwhile partner, Thundercracker. This release of the figure replaced his Decepticon symbol stickers with tampographs, and changed his purple stickers to a much bluer shade. Curiously, although Thundercracker's wing stripes were replaced with tampographs, Skywarp's remained factory-applied stickers.

Alternity

[edit]
Mortal minds cannot even comprehend the four-dimensional hyperstairs he can push you down.
  • Skywarp [Witch Purple Pearl] (May 29, 2010)
    • ID number: A-04
Skywarp is a retool of the simultaneously released Alternity Starscream with a different head, transforming into a licensed 1:32 scale Mitsuoka Orochi. Like the other toys in the line, he features die-cast metal parts and rubber tires, as well as an opening hood, trunk and doors. This is also currently the only Alternity mold to feature a fake kibble chest.
In car mode, small wings are supposed to be able to flip out from under Skywarp's rear wheels, giving him the appearance of a flying car.
This mold, with Skywarp's head, was also used to make Thundercracker and Banzai Tron.

Chronicle

[edit]
Teleports right out of your pocket.
  • Skywarp (EZ Collection, 2011)
Chronicle Skywarp is a redeco of Reveal the Shield Legends Class Starscream. He transforms into an F-15 with many fuselage details borrowed from the Masterpiece version. This is also the first Seeker mold in many years to attempt an entirely new transformation, with the arms now forming the rear of the jet and the legs folding under the wings. Skywarp was available only in Japan, and like many Japanese "EZ Collection" toys, was blindpacked.
This toy was also EXCEEDINGLY rare to find. Think other toys have a high aftermarket price? This one has NO aftermarket price.
This mold was also used to make Chronicle Thundercracker.

Kre-O

[edit]
The Optimus Prime construction set comes with a Skywarp Kreon. He has a helmet, wing back that attaches around his neck, and two blasters that clip onto his arms. These same Kreon accessories were also used for Starscream and Thundercracker.
A variation of Skywarp exists where initial versions of the figure feature chrome purple toes. Later versions omitted this detail. The stock photography, by the way, shows him with purple-plastic legs rather than black.

  • Kreon Ultimate Collection 2 (2013)
    • Accessories: 2 clip-on blasters
Skywarp was later made available as the "Mystery Figure" figure packed with Bumblebee, Red Alert, Mirage, and Jazz. The identity of Skywarp is kept secret in the packaging, but his inclusion is consistent.
This version of Skywarp does not feature the purple chromed toes of the original release.

  • Kreon Class of 1984 (Kreon figure set, 2014)
    • Set number: B0090
    • Voted: Most Punctual
    • Accessories: 2 clip-on blasters
This version of Skywarp has much more extensive, toy-based tampographs than his prior version. Oddly, his limbs, wings and blasters are different shades of purple plastic, rather than a more accurate-to-anything black plastic with purple detailing.
He was only available in a San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive pack of 30 Kreons dubbed the "Kreon Class of 1984". Remaining stock was to be sold at Hasbro Toy Shop online, only there was no remaining stock after the show.

Bot Shots

[edit]
Confused by rock paper scissors.
  • Skywarp (2012)
    • Series: 1
    • Number: B016
      • Fist strength: 620
      • Blaster strength: 160
      • Sword strength: 830
Part of the fifth wave of Bot Shots Series 1 single-packs, Skywarp is a redeco/retool of the Starscream mold, being cast in black and purple in homage to Generation 1 Skywarp, and featuring a new chest and scowling head. He transforms into a tiny super deformed jet fighter resembling F-22 Raptor, and autotransforms into robot mode when his nosecone is pressed. He has a "spinner" in his chest that shows his three attack types and power levels.

And he's still scowling.
  • Skywarp (2013)
    • Series: 2
    • Number: Super Bot 003
      • Fist strength: 510
      • Blaster strength: 180
      • Sword strength: 925
Part of the third wave of Bot Shots Series 2 single-packs, Super Bot Skywarp transforms into a futuristic forward-swept wing fighter jet with two blasters at the front. As a Flip Shot, an impact to the front of his vehicle mode causes him to flip up when autotransforming. As a Super Bot, he has more lopsided stats, and is cast in translucent purplish-black plastic.
He was going to be redecoed into the unreleased Flip Shot Starscream Launcher. Yup, Skywarp came first owns this mold.

United

[edit]
Close but no cigar.
  • Seekers: Aces (December 21, 2012)
    • Accessories: Left & right launchers, 2 missiles
United Skywarp is a third redeco of the Classics Starscream mold, and the first time he is offered with both of his wing mates Starscream and Thundercracker.
This version of Skywarp is heavily based on his cartoon appearance. He features a glossy black, a medium warm purple, shiny metallic purple paint on most of his purple plastic, and an amber cockpit. Paint operations found on the Henkei! Henkei! release were shuffled around for the sake of cartoon accuracy, up to and including purple shoulders.
Original photos of Skywarp showed him with show-accurate all purple arm cannons, but due to gang molding (and lack of additional paint operations) only the upper most portion of his arm cannons ended up purple.

Generations

[edit]

Will use his guns to give you cold dead hands.
  • Skywarp (Deluxe Class, 2014)
    • Series / Number: 02 / #012
    • Accessories: Two assault cannons, tail-fin
Part of the eighth wave of 2012-onwards Generations Deluxe Class toys, Thrilling 30 Skywarp is a redeco of Generations: Fall of Cybertron Starscream, and transforms into a Cybertronian jet fighter. He comes with two spinning, triple-barreled cannons which can combine to form a larger hand-held weapon that is geared to spin its two triple-barrels together, and resembles the Neutron assault rifle from Fall of Cybertron. Each of the weapon halves features two 5 mm posts, as well as a peg-hole on their hollow sides, while the combined form features another peg-hole at the top, but makes the peg-holes on the hollow sides inaccessible. Skywarp features numerous 5 mm peg-holes, such as his hands, forearms, lower legs, and wing undersides.
Skywarp's tail-fin is attached via a 5mm post on its underside, and can be detached to reveal three additional peg-holes, with two of these peg-holes being just the right distance to accommodate the combined assault cannons/rifle, with the tail-fin pegging on the rifle's top peg-hole. This allows the weapon to mount on top of the vehicle mode, and store on his back in robot mode.
Skywarp is minimally mis-transformed in-package: his jet mode nosecone is extended, rather than folded in as it should be in robot mode. He comes packaged with a copy of IDW's Robots in Disguise #23.
Despite using a mold matching Skywarp's appearance in War for Cybertron, this toy technically represents G1 Skywarp, thanks to his IDW pack-in fiction. Consequently, the toy is listed in the former's page as a repurposing. This mold was also used for TakaraTomy's Fall of Cybertron Skywarp, itself repurposed as Cloud Skywarp, and as Generations Thrilling 30 Thundercracker.

Hero Mashers

[edit]
The most easily-lost Skywarp hand since 1984.
  • Megatron (Battle Upgrade, 2014)
    • Pieces: 18
    • Accessories: Backpack, spring-loaded cannon, missile, blaster, energy flail, 2 blaster-pods, "Skywarp" right forearm
Part of the first wave of "Battle Upgrade" Hero Mashers toys, Skywarp is represented as a spare forearm that is included with Megatron, but does not appear in the line as a complete figure. The arm is a redeco of Hero Mashers Starscream's.

Combiner Wars

[edit]

  • Skywarp (Legends Class, 2015)
    • Accessories: 2 cannons
A redeco of Thrilling 30 Legends Class Starscream, Combiner Wars Skywarp is roughly the same size as a Cyberverse Commander Class toy. Based on a Guido Guidi seeker concept for the first IDW ongoing series, he transforms from a hybrid F-15/F-22 style jet. He features a fold out front landing gear, 5 mm-compatible hands, and back/wings, and has 3 mm-compatible upper arm ports. He comes with two removable cannons that have both 5 mm and 3 mm pegs. As with Thundercracker his current stock photo is mistransformed: his wing assembly has not been folded up to the body.
This figure was also used to make Thrilling 30 Acid Storm and Combiner Wars Thundercracker.

And Warper Makes Three.
  • Skywarp (Leader Class, 2016)
    • Accessories: Missile launcher, missile, 2 arm cannons, 2 leg cannons, 2 "Seeker guns"
Skywarp is a redeco of Generations Combiner Wars Leader Thundercracker. He transforms from a robot into a jet fighter, and includes a missile launcher and four limb-mounted weapons, plus two guns based on the traditional Seeker arm rifles. He also features a faux cockpit. Skywarp does not include the original Jetfire mold's "Turbo Thruster" booster pack accessory, nor does he include Starscream's crown, but is still compatible with both.
Skywarp unfortunately became a massive shelfwarmer, prominently seen at U.S. Target stores in bulk among the Titans Return toyline.
The original version of this mold was used to make Generations Jetfire, and was redecoed into Combiner Wars Starscream.

Transformers (2014)

[edit]

  • Skywarp (Legion Class, 2015)
Legion Class Skywarp is yet another redeco of Reveal the Shield Legends Class Starscream, which features the retooled wings and hands originally created for Generations GDO Legends Class Thundercracker. Aside from that, the figure's deco is mostly identical to the Chronicle EZ Collection figure listed above, although the purple paint operations sport a more blue hue, the purple paint operations on his shins are omitted entirely, and the tampographed Decepticon insignias on the wings are purple with silver outlines rather than completely silver.[2]
Skywarp comes in packaging that is based on the packaging design for the concurrently released Combiner Wars-era Generations figures, but replaces the name Generations with "Authentic Transformers". Since Skywarp and his wave-mates ship with three figures previously released under what we consider a generic Transformers (2014) toy line, all of them now in the new packaging style, we consider Skywarp to be part of that line as well. The wave that contains Skywarp has thus far been found at Fred's, Gordmans, Dollar General and Family Dollar stores in the United States, but was available at general retail in Hong Kong and from Australian Target stores.

Q-Transformers

[edit]
Fatwarp
A redeco and minor retool of Q-Transformers Starscream, Skywarp transforms from a super deformed F-15 to a cute chubby little robot. His facial expression has been changed from Starscream's smirk into a crazy grin.
This mold was also retooled into Q-Transformers Thundercracker and Jetfire.

  • Decepticons 3-Figure Set (2016)
    • ID number: QTFS-03
During the second Q-Transformers series, the Skywarp toy was available in a three-pack alongside Starscream and Thundercracker. He is identical to the original Q-Transformers toy.

Alt-Modes

[edit]
  • Skywarp (Alt-Modes, 2016)
    • Series: 1
    • Collection: 1, 2
A redeco of Alt-Modes Starscream, Skywarp is a super deformed toy whose body transforms into a jet when the Decepticon faction symbol on his head is flipped. He was blind-boxed and available in the first two cases of the toyline.
This mold was also used to make Alt-Modes Thundercracker, Acid Storm and Sunstorm, and would have been retooled into Dirge.

War for Cybertron: Siege

[edit]
The fourth Siege Seeker to be revealed!? He's losing ground!
This Siege four-pack version of Skywarp is a retool of Voyager Class Starscream from the same line with a new slightly sneering face, transforming from a heavily Generation 1-inspired robot to a Cybertronian "tetrajet" based on the Seekers' appearance in "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1" and back; although the jet mode has the robot legs sticking out from the undercarriage.
This set was an Amazon exclusive for North America, which also labelled the set as "Final Strike Figure Series: Part 2", and a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive in Japan. In an uncharacteristic irony, Skywarp's face features a sneer, but with the help of customizing, you can swap his head for Thundercracker or Red Wing's to patch things up a bit.
The set was reissued in 2025, now no longer an Amazon exclusive. While most of the set remains unchanged, the transparent red paint on Skywarp’s eyes is significantly thinner than on the original, causing his eyes to appear orange instead of red.

War for Cybertron: Earthrise

[edit]
Teleporting directly to eBay.
  • Skywarp & Thundercracker (Multi-pack, 2020)
    • Hasbro ID number: WFC-E29
    • TakaraTomy ID number: ER EX-16
    • TakaraTomy release date: January 20, 2021
    • Accessories: 2 "Null-Ray blasters"
Earthrise Skywarp is a redeco and very slight retooling of Voyager Class Starscream from the same line, transforming into an F-15 jet based on his traditional alternate mode, and features a pair of G1-accurate null-rays in cartoon-accurate purple.
Skywarp was packaged with Thundercracker as part of a Cybertronian Villains set exclusive to Target in the United States, and Toys"R"Us in Canada. It was also available at general retail in Hong Kong. In Japan, the set was released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive.
Initial samples provided by TakaraTomy depict Skywarp's head being replaced with the same piece used for Thundercracker,[3] though this was likely to be a production error as a later sample shows that he retains the original head.[4]
Like many of the toys since the War for Cybertron trilogy line, Skywarp suffers from a case of photodegradation, as his unpaintable purple pieces discolors to a maroon shade.
Like all Earthrise toys, the inside of the back of the Seeker two-pack package includes an exclusive clip-and-save piece of a larger star map. Also in the box is a thin red piece of transparent plastic with which to read the star map. The two-pack contains the unlabelled location of Quintessa.
Like all other uses of the mold, Skywarp has a missing molded panel-line detail on the right wing hinge that is supposed to curve in towards the body of the jet. The reason for this missing detail is likely due to it missing from the metal mold itself.

Legacy

[edit]
Hit the beat! Keep your beat!
  • Skywarp (Core Class, March 2022)
Part of the first wave of Legacy Core Class toys, Skywarp is a redeco of Kingdom Starscream. Frankly, we're surprised he didn't come sooner.
A roughly Legends-sized toy that can interact with Titan Class figures, Legacy Skywarp's sculpting is heavily inspired by his larger Earthrise counterpart, though featuring a black pelvis instead of a silver one. Instead of coming with a redeco of Starscream's Null Ray accessories, Skywarp comes with a... some kind of a tuning fork-like weapon called the "Energon Warp Fork", which can be plugged into the underside of his nose cone while in vehicle mode.
Skywarp retains the hexagonal peg holes molded into Starscream's shoulders, so the figure can still support Starscream's Null Ray armaments.
Skywarp's head is molded in black, greatly reducing the risk of paint chipping and scratching suffered from Kingdom Starscream.
As seen on Kingdom Hot Rod's card illustration and Skywarp's instructions, the Energon Warp Fork is one of the three components of a combined sword. The horizontal 3mm post on the fork also prevents it from being adequately positioned when attached. This can be amended by slightly trimming off the post, though this method prevents the accessory from attaching to Skywarp's nose cone.
For Japanese collectors, 2 out of the 3 components of the combined sword were not domestically available in Japan, as TakaraTomy did not release Iguanus and Skywarp, requiring those figures to be imported in order to complete the weapon.
This mold was also redecoed into Core Class Thundercracker.

  • Decepticon Nemesis (Titan Class, 2023)
A tiny slug figure of Skywarp in his Siege Cybertronian "tetrajet" mode was included with Titan Class Nemesis. Though the package art depicting this piece was actually based on the unlicensed "Prankstor" figure -- whoopsie!

Transformers Retro

[edit]
Ayo, the pizza here!
  • Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear, two-piece gun mode Megatron
Walmart once again reissued the original Skywarp toy (or is it a recolor of Starscream from the same line?) in 2023 under the Transformers Retro label.
The box features new art of Skywarp with Earthrise-inspired detailing in robot and vehicle mode laid over a scene of Autobot City.
Transformers Retro Skywarp was officially revealed on Walmart's website[7] on July 12, 2023.

Dramatic Capture Series

[edit]
  • Decepticons Part 2 (Multi-pack, 2026)
  • Release date: February 26, 2026
  • Accessories: 2 arm cannons, 2 large Energon cubes
  • Known designers: Yūkiya Amano (TakaraTomy)
The Dramatic Capture Series representation of Skywarp is a redeco of the Earthrise version above but now uses the stoic head first seen with Starscream, replacing the silver paint with a more matte grey, the black with charcoal gray, and a lighter cooler purple. Several additional paint operations and color changes have also occurred. Skywarp came in a set with Shrapnel, Kickback, and Bombshell, as well as handheld accessory versions of Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, and Reflector, and 8 Energon cubes (2 larger cubes for Skywarp and 6 smaller ones for the Insecticons).
Unlike the previously released Dramatic Capture Series Starscream and Thundercracker, Skywarp lacks any stripes on his tail fins. This is done to match his animation model.

Studio Series

[edit]
There's only one explanation for that face.. somebody called Skywarp a clod.
  • Skywarp (Voyager Class, 2026)
Part of the thirty-first wave of Studio Series Voyager-class toys (the second wave released in 2026), Skywarp is a redeco of that line's Thundercracker, transforming from highly cartoon-accurate robot to F-15 Eagle-esque jet and back, with his robot mode proportions hewing very closely to his third Masterpiece iteration. He includes two Null-Rays which can mount on his biceps, or underneath his wings in jet mode. The stabilizer fins on his legs are attached using a standard 5mm connection, but can optionally be removed and attached to his back for a cleaner silhouette.
Unfortunately, his shoulders are black instead of the cartoon-accurate purple, thanks to Thundercracker and the inevitable Starscream needing their shoulders' color to match their biceps.

Merchandise

[edit]

Decoy

[edit]
Mini-wave in celebration of me! WooOOoo!
  • Destron Hero Collection 22 (multi-pack, 1986)
Skywarp was among the many characters rendered by Takara as part of their series of 1.5" keshigomu figurines. Like all the Decepticons in the series, Skywarp was molded in soft purple rubber, and featured a number sculpted into his back that was the sum total of his Tech Specs, for use in the various games that could be played with the figurines. He is, surprisingly enough, not identical to either Starscream or Thundercracker: the stance of his legs and the position of his Decepticon symbols differ, but he is, of course, most prominently distinguished by his raised arms.
Skywarp was available as part of a 22-piece box set of Decepticon figures, in a peach coloration randomly packed in several box sets and with other products produced by Takara subsidiary Seven, and in a wide variety of colours in "gachapon" capsule machines.
  • Skywarp (1987)
    • Decoy number: 33
The Skywarp figurine was later brought over to Hasbro markets as part of the Decoy promotion, largely identical to the Japanese release except for the fact that the number on his back was replaced with a simple "checklist" number (33, in Skywarp's case). Like all Decepticon Decoys, he was a randomly-chosen pack-in available with the carded Throttlebots, Aerialbots, Protectobots and Technobots, and was, very early on in the promotion, available in an alternate red coloration that was only packed in with the Throttlebots. Unsurprisingly, this red figurine is much rarer.

Super Collection Figure

[edit]
  • Skywarp (Lucky Draw figure, 2001)
Super Collection Figure Skywarp is a non-transforming three-inch tall PVC figurine, redecoed from SCF Starscream. Limited to 200 pieces, he was only available as the second place prize in a Lucky Draw contest held in conjunction with the first edition of Transformers Generations (with the "Secret Starscream" toy as the first place prize).
However, due to the bankruptcy of the Transformers: Generations publisher, Keibunsha, it is unknown whether this Skywarp was ever actually sent out or not.
This mold was also used to make Super Collection Figure Thundercracker and Heroes of Cybertron (see below) Starscream, Thundercracker, Sunstorm and the Air Warriors. This mold was retooled to make SCF Ramjet, Thrust, and Dirge.

Heroes of Cybertron

[edit]
  • Skywarp (2002)
When the Super Collection Figure line was brought to the US as Heroes of Cybertron, Skywarp was widely released as part of the first wave. As was the standard for the line, Skywarp was made from translucent red plastic that was mostly painted over, giving him light-piped eyes. In addition, he is distinguished from his Super Collection Figure counterpart by grey knee-vents and black foot-panels, versus the respective purple and grey applications on the original (though several samples of the figure were missing the foot-panel paint, including the one shown at the TFU link below).
  • Decepticon Air Cavalry Troop Builder Set (2003)
The original Skywarp figurine was re-released again in this six-pack of figures available exclusively at OTFCC 2003. He came packaged with Heroes of Cybertron versions of Starscream, Thundercracker, and three Air Warriors.
While the three named Seekers in the set were originally intended to have a sparkly paint job to differentiate them from the normal retail versions, that ended up not happening and they ended up basically the same.

Legends of Cybertron

[edit]
Doesn't so much teleport as not exist in the first place.
  • Skywarp (2004, unreleased)
A redeco of Mega Super Figure Collection G1 Starscream (minus the extra coronation accessories), Skywarp was to be among the first of the fan club exclusives offered by OTFCC as well as the first in their Legends of Cybertron line. The figure was delayed and never saw a full release due to 3H Enterprises losing the license to run the official Transformers fan club. At least a couple of sample versions were produced, of those most (but not all) had the open-palm hands and the hand wielding Megatron in gun mode painted blue rather than the correct purple.

Palisades

[edit]
Decepticon on a stick! Get yer Decepticon on a stick!
  • Skywarp (Palisades, 2005)
A SmallBluePlanet-exclusive redeco of the Starscream statue, Skywarp is a six inch tall polystone statue with articulated head and arms. He can stand normally or use a stand to take on a "hovering" pose. Skywarp was limited to 300 pieces, and sculpted by 3L Creation Group from a design by George Tremarco.
This mold was also used to make Thundercracker and the Ghost of Starscream.

Attacktix

[edit]
  • Skywarp (Booster, 2007)
Skywarp was among the planned Transformers Attacktix game pieces that were showed at some conventions, but went unreleased as the line was canceled. He was to be a retool of sorts of the similarly unreleased Energon Starscream, using the same weapon and base but a brand new jet mold. Skywarp would've been able to detach from his base and fly on a string, enabling him to get better shots at opposing pieces. Any other details about his role in the game are unknown.

Game over.
This Attacktix item has been canceled, with no current plans for release.

Titanium Series

[edit]
  • Skywarp (unreleased)
  • Accessories: Decepticon stand?
The final Titanium Series catalogue listed a number of "Micro Figures" intended for release, though many of them never saw the light of day. Among those listed was a 3" Robot Masters Skywarp, which was probably a redeco of Starscream, complete with Decepticon badge display stand.

Robot Heroes

[edit]
Clearly just after shoving Starscream down a flight of stairs.
  • Decepticon Sneak Attack (Multi-pack, 2007)
Skywarp is -of course- a redeco of Robot Heroes Starscream, with swivel articulation at the neck and shoulders.
He was only available in a Walmart exclusive multi-pack, along with Cliffjumper, Hologram Mirage, and "Supermetal Finish" versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
This mold was also used to make Thundercracker.

  • Skywarp (Single-pack, 2008)
In some countries outside of North America, Skywarp was released individually in a blindpack with no notable changes.

3D Battle-Card Game

[edit]
  • Skywarp (2007)
A 25-point "uncommon" character in the 3D Battle-Card Game's "Energon Wars" expansion, Skywarp "transforms" into a black and purple jet. He uses the same parts layout as Movie Starscream, Dreadwing, Thundercracker and Jetfire, along with Classic Starscream and Ramjet. In addition to his standard abilities such as teleportation, one of Skywarp's weapons is the obscure bouncer bomb, which he used only once in the cartoon episode "The Immobilizer".

Transformers Mini-Busts

[edit]
  • Skywarp (San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, 2008)
Retooled and redecoed from Art Asylum's Starscream mini-bust, this statue depicts Skywarp in mid-teleport via translucent purple extremities. He was offered exclusively by Diamond Select Toys through the Action Figure Xpress booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2008, limited to 400 pieces.

The Loyal Subjects

[edit]
  • Skywarp (2014)
    • Accessories: Gun
Skywarp was one of the chase figures in the second wave of 3-inch tall blindpacked vinyl figurines produced by The Loyal Subjects. Featuring eight ball-jointed points of articulation. Unlike the other 1984 style Seekers, a Skywarp is not a redeco of the Starscream and Thundercracker figurine from the first wave (who were later redecoed to create the Rainmaker trio and Sunstorm), but an all new mold with different construction and parts than his predecessors. He is slightly larger than the other '84 Seekers and features more moving parts. He does share some parts with the simultaneously released Ramjet, Thrust, and fellow chase figure Dirge. For every 96 figures from wave 2 of The Loyal Subjects, there is 1 Skywarp.

D-Style

[edit]
  • Skywarp (09-2015)
    • ID number: 48
    • Accessories: Scowling face, smirking face, shouting face, open hand, closed hands, mini F-15 jet
A super deformed Skywarp model kit produced by Kotobukiya as part of their franchise-spanning D-Style line. Like Megatron he comes with three different faces and in line with the rest of the line, comes with a mini alt mode figure, in this case an F-15 jet. He also contains a replaceable open hand. His chest contains flip-up panels in his chest that reveal missile racks based on the weapons seen in the Generation 1 episode "Fire on the Mountain". The null rays can be removed and wielded as guns, and he can also hold Megatron's gun.
In order to get the figure looking like the promotional photos, required paint applications include coloring the screaming mouth, chest fans and panel lines, missile rack surrounds, null ray panel lines, and knee vents all in black. Eyes and cockpit come in translucent colored plastic and can also be painted to improve their look. Finally, the mini F-15 jet comes as a single black piece and is missing all coloring.
He comes in a two pack along with Thundercracker.
This mold was also used to make D-Style Starscream.

Flame Toys

[edit]
Cue the inevitable Bandai Hobby Online Shop Selects Event exclusive "Invisible Mode" transluent redeco.
  • Skywarp (December 2019)
    • Number: 09
    • Additional parts/accessories: 1 pair of Trigger-finger hands, 1 pair of open-palm hands
Released as part of the Furai Model line by Flame Toys, This Skywarp is an articulated, non-transforming, Voyager Class-sized Gunpla-style model kit, redecoed from the Starscream mold. Skywarp is molded in primarily black, purple, and silver-ish gray ABS plastic. His translucent yellow plastic still remains. Like Starscream, his Null-rays can be detached for use as handheld blasters.
For straight-assembly builders, Skywarp features a sheet of foil stickers for detail (notably the wings), though the kit can be panel-lined and touched-up with several panel-lining and paint markers (water/acrylic-based markers are recommended, as alcohol-based markers like Gundam Markers can potentially damage the ABS plastic). If one desires; the kit's pieces, aside from the translucent parts, can be fully coated with spray paints to recreate the finished sample seen in the stock photos.

  • Skywarp (2021)

Skywarp was released as a "chase variant" and was only exclusive to Target.

Yolopark

[edit]
  • Skywarp (AMK Mini Series, 2024)
  • Accessories: 2 additional pairs of hands (Splayed, Pointing)
Released exclusively for the blind box lineup, this AMK Mini Series kit of Sunstorm is a redeco of the same line's Starscream, and can be only completed by snapping the pre-painted pieces together. He also utilizes the identical hand parts used for most of the AMK Minis.
The lineup had a 1/30 probability of getting Skywarp, which is 30 less than the same line's Nemesis. However, Skywarp has also been released individually in a single box, with initial sightings in the Filipino market in July 2025.

Blokees

[edit]

Galaxy Version

[edit]
  • Skywarp (2023)
  • Series: Galaxy Version 01 - Roll Out
  • Accessories: 2 pairs of hands (Weapon-holding/fists, open-palm), spare peg-and-ball piece, spare ball-and-ball piece, black stand, 1 pair of Autobot/Decepticon symbols
Released in the first wave of Blokees' Galaxy Version line of blind boxes along with his mold-mate Thundercracker, this Skywarp is a four-inch-tall, articulated, and non-transforming snap-on model kit of the Decepticon Seeker. Like many other Blokees figures, Skywrp uses a "Standard Body" as a skeleton, in which pieces are attached to make it look like different characters. Skywarp also has a figure stand with either four studs (China release/Chinese logo) or two studs (Global release/English logo) on top, which he can plug into and connect to similar stands.

Defender Version

[edit]
Every case before Wave 5 comes with a random Commemorative Card, with 10 Common, 1 Gold, and 1 Silver for each out of every 12 cards.
  • Skywarp (Defender Version, 2025)
  • Series: Defender Version 03 - Heavy Metal War
Released as part of the second wave of the Galaxy Version Defender line of blind boxes, this Skywarp is a 2.2-inch (5.5cm) figure redecoed from the first entry's Thundercracker, and he's a few inches smaller than the Galaxy Version kits, but still articulated. As with all robot mode kits from this line, Skywarp features color-coded eye parts that also serve as the neck's socket joint.

X Yearly Version

[edit]
  • Exclusive Yearly Version - Dinobot Desertion (2026)
Released as part of the Dinobot-themed 2026 Yearly Box Set, this kit of Skywarp is a redeco of the individual Defender Version Thundercracker Vehicle mode kit in shiny gold and silver paint and plastic, loosely inspired by the iconic color scheme of the Dinobots. This differs from previous X Yearly Version sets that were all-gold redecoes of exclusively Galaxy Version kits.
In addition to the gold and silver, the printed details are rendered in black and white, with his Null-Ray's tips featuring an orange fade.
Skywarp also comes with redecoes of Galaxy Version beast mode Grimlock, Slug, Sludge, Snarl, and Swoop, as well as Defender Version Optimus Prime and Wheeljack. The combination of differently sized kits is presumably to represent the Dinobots' typically large sizes.
While solicited as Skywarp, due to the nature of the deco, you could repurpose it as any of the Seekers, if you so wished.

Threezero

[edit]
  • Skywarp (MDLX, 2024)
    • Known designers: Kelvin Sau
    • Accessories: wing assembly, two null-ray cannons, more TBA

A redeco of Threezero's MDLX Starscream, Skywarp is an original design inspired by the original cartoon but with aesthetics in the vein of the live-action movies. Skywarp is a smaller-scale, non-transforming action figure in the vein of contemporary collector-oriented lines like Figma and S.H. Figuarts. Like those lines, the figure is extremely well-articulated and detailed, with interchangeable hands, faces, and accessories. He features his ever-present null-ray cannons and two dagger-like blades.

He and Thundercracker were revealed in a teaser posted to Threezero's Instagram account showcasing Starscream.
Skywarp retains Starscream's functionality with the MDLX Optimus Prime mold, specifically the detachable wings and swappable heads.

Kotobukiya Bishoujo Series

[edit]
"What up, Seeker Nation? In today's video, we're looking at the effects of gravity on this chump and this staircase!"
  • Bishoujo Series Transformers Skywarp (July 2024)
Kotobukiya Bishoujo Series Skywarp is a repaint and slight retool of Starscream from the same line of PVC figures. In addition to being recolored in Skywarp's usual black and purple, the statue has received some minor resculpts, tweaking the face slightly and filling in her navel so she appears to be wearing a black skintight suit beneath her clothing.
Like Starscream, Skywarp is attached to a purple display base designed after the Decepticon insignia, but she does not include any alternate headpieces like her fellow seeker.

Auldey

[edit]
  • Skywarp (Alpha Action Elite, 2025)
  • Series: Attack on Earth
  • ID Number: AAE-014
  • Accessories: 4 pairs of hands, 1 pair of Null-rays
  • Known designers: Lam Ahtek
Sold as part of Auldey's "Alpha Action Elite (AAE)" series of blindboxes, this Skywarp is a 5-inch non-transforming but highly articulated action figure.
Skywarp comes with multiple pairs of hairs and his trading card. As advertised in the box, the lineup had an 12/72 probability of getting him. This mold was also used to make the Starscream and Sunstorm chase figure. As such, he is compatible with the Starscream Coronation Set, but more fittingly, also Nemesis Prime's black set

Notes

[edit]
  • During the development of the Coneheads, Dirge was initially planned as new wing tooling attached to an unchanged Skywarp body. This plan lasted long enough to receive package art, which was published decades later in Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging.
  • In a possible fit of madness, a triple changer was proposed that would switch between Skywarp (possibly mistaken for Starscream), Megatron, and Skywarp's jet mode.
  • In modern times, Skywarp is often the last of the three primary Decepticon Seekers to see the use of a toyline's respective Seeker mold. Consequently, his figures may become prominent shelfwarmers at the tail end of a line's run, as notoriously seen worldwide with Combiner Wars Leader Class Skywarp.
  • Short of the Super Bot Shot, Skywarp has always been a redeco, a retool, or a simultaneous release of a Seeker mold and not the first use; Starscream typically gets the first use, with Thundercracker occasionally taking that honor.
