The Galvaburg II is a Predacon starship from the Beast Wars II portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Galvatron borrowed this ship from Ludwig Von Koopa.

The Galvaburg II (ガルバブルグII ()Garubaburugu Nisei) is the starship used by Galvatron and his Predacons as their mobile fortress. The Command Center is located at the top of the tower in the back, its full length is 300 meters, its width is 150 meters, it weights 16,000 tons, and it can go faster than Mach 3. It is also equipped with a Death Alp Engine (デスアルプエンジン) to reach warp speed.

As the home of the Emperor of Destruction, the Galvaburg II houses heavy armaments capable of shooting spacecraft down from orbit. A quaint design feature is that the bow of the ship is shaped like a grinning face, but it's not merely decoration. For one, to enter or leave the Galvaburg II, two hatches are available. One is a gravity beam for robot modes at the bottom of the hull and the other is that the face's teeth can open for the passage of flying bodies. For two, the face's eyes contain the tech behind the elementary particle control beam, a means to shrink and enlarge Transformers in case they otherwise couldn't enter the starship. The spikes on the face's forehead also have a purpose beyond intimidation as it is through them that the Galvaburg can collect Angolmois Energy.

The Emperor of Destruction, Galvatron, had the Galvaburg II disguised as a large asteroid and hidden in an asteroid belt. From there, the crew sent out a SOS that was picked up by the Maximals and answered by the arrival of Convoy and Apache, who came investigating the nature of the SOS in Maximal Reconnaissance Ships. As they neared, the ship's engines were activated and the sudden motion doomed Apache to a deadly crash until Convoy opened fire, causing an explosion that sent the both of them backwards out of the fake asteroid's path. Though the plan for a few easy kills was foiled, the Galvaburg II set course to Gaia and lost its disguise during atmospheric entry. The destination of the journey was an energy reading that promised the kind of energy that would allow the Predacons to conquer the universe. They found their prize as a pillar of light in the planet's North Continent. With the bow of the Galvaburg II, the energy was collected and thick fog that enveloped the mobile base poured out of the numerous exhausts as a byproduct. The Predacons' activity drew the attention of the Convoy Unit, who came to Gaia aboard the Yukikaze. Their approach was registered by the Galvaburg II and the Predacons' response was to shoot the Maximal spaceship down. The five Maximals saved themselves from the subsequent crash by means of the Yukikaze's lifeboats and made their way to the suspicious black fog. This ended with them on the deck of the Galvaburg II, trapped in an energy field that kept them in place while the Combatrons opened fire. The Predacons had everything going for them until a mysterious white lion jumped up on the deck of the parked ship and destroyed the field-generating pillars. The freed Maximals picked up their weapons, causing several explosions as they covered their escape alongside the lion. The New Forces Arrive!

The Predacons discovered the ruins of an old facility and parked amidst them so that Galvatron and Megastorm could exit and continue on foot. They discovered the Mother Computer and Galvatron had it bestow the strongest forms in Gaia's history on him. This, however, knocked him out cold, whereupon Megastorm took control. He contacted the Autorollers and the Combatrons aboard the Galvaburg II and ordered them to accept the new vehicle modes from the Mother Computer he was about to send over. White Lion, Run! Megastorm had Galvatron brought back to the Galvaburg II to wait for him to reawaken. The ship was set moving again with the goal of finding and capturing Lio Convoy. This task was given to the Combatrons, but when it took too long for Megastorm's liking, he parked the Galvaburg II among some rocks and went out to search for the enemy himself. Bighorn's Rage Apparently having need of a stationary spot, the Predacons built a base at the bottom of a lake with room in the center to park the Galvaburg II. They used the Galvaburg II to escape when they blew up the base in an attempt to kill the Lio Convoy Unit. The Lake Trap

From the Galvaburg II, a swarm of small spaceships was sent out of which each was capable of building the kind of fortress the Predacons needed for the next phase of their plan. Megastorm's reasoning was that with only six Maximals out and about, they didn't have the numbers to stop the spaceships. The Combatrons commented that Galvatron would be proud of Megastorm once he'd wake up, which soured Megastorm's mood because he wanted to remain in charge. Thus reminded of the threat to his reign, he sealed his sleeping brother in a sarcophagus and took him off the ship to be dumped in an Angelmois Energy pit. However, due to intervention from the Maximals and Starscream Galvatron Revived Galvatron was returned to the Galvaburg II encased in a block of hardened magma. Megastorm wasn't happy about that, but rolled with the flow. Because of a promising energy reading in the South Continent and the Maximals' movement there towards, the Predacons also flew the Galvaburg II down south. Mystery of the Ancient Ruins A first attempt to set up a fortress in the South Continent was thwarted by the Insectrons living there, which Dirge and Thrust reported on upon return to the Galvaburg II. Consequently, Megastorm made destroying the Insectrons or converting them to the Predacon side the new priority. The Insect Corps Arrive Starscream reported to the Galvaburg II when one such attempt made it possible to destroy Insectron and Maximal alike, so Megastorm ordered a full-out attack. Friend or Foe? The Insect Robos With as much time as had passed since Galvatron's dip in the magma, he began showing signs of coming to. This worried Megastorm because no progress had been made in the meantime. In a last-ditch effort to at least end the Insectrons, Starscream threw them an oil party with highly potent oil that would have them drunkenly turn on each other. Everything went in the Predacons' favor as they watched the chaos unfold from the Galvaburg II until Galvatron woke up. Groggy and confused, he stumbled into the Command Center and spotted a stash of oil Starscream hadn't given to the Insectrons. Always in for a drink, he downed several cans before the other Predacons noticed him and by then it was too late. They had to evacuate the ship quickly to avoid his volatile drunken rage. The Strongest Tag Team?

After going through footage of the failure that was the oil party and berating the Combatrons, the Autorollers offered Megastorm that they would deal with the Insectrons. Against the Combatrons' wishes, Megastorm gave them the job. A little worried about their position in the army, the Combatrons kept watch of the Autorollers' doings through the screens in the Command Center of the Galvaburg II. Autorollers Roll Out! On another occasion, the Autorollers captured Tasmania Kid and Scissor Boy and delivered them to the Galvaburg II. Megastorm came to meet them outside and called the Combatrons to immediately return to the ship to assist with the captives. However, both the Maximals and the Insectrons came to save their colleagues and Megastorm had to call a retreat. He and the Autorollers had the Galvaburg II only just in the sky when the Combatrons finally arrived, adding insult to injury. Danger! Scissor Boy From the Galvaburg II, Megastorm, Dirge, and Thrust observed Galvatron's Angolmois Energy-fuelled return and unhappily recalled his earlier drunken rage. Galvatron Rampages Galvatron made it back to the Galvaburg II and seized back control. Through the screens, he and the others observed the arrival of an unknown ship in the East Continent of Gaia and flew the ship over. Starscream and BB went out to investigate and returned with a report on a giant Transformer that Galvatron subsequently ordered destroyed. Fortunately for him, said giant Transformer was the combined form of the Jointrons and they were eager to defeat the Predacons so while the Predacons failed to find them, they found the Galvaburg II. They fought Megastorm, Starscream, and BB outside of the ship and had to be saved by the other Maximals. The Predacons flew their ship away in defeat. The Combined Giant, Tripledacus Dirge, Thrust, and the Autorollers went radio silent during a job building a front-line base, which made those remaining in the Galvaburg II wonder what had happened. What had happened was that the group had taken over two Maximal spaceships and were trying to get them repaired to fly over to the Galvaburg II, but they got defeated before they could. The Festive Jointrons While the other Predacons were enjoying some Jointron beats coming over the radio waves, Galvatron's patience reached its end. To calm him down, Starscream offered another plan that surely would succeed in eliminating the Jointrons, but didn't. A Fearsome Combination Plan? The failure, however, convinced Galvatron that what the Predacons lacked was combination. After looking over computer-generated combination proposals for the Combatrons in the Command Center, Galvatron ordered that the Jointrons were to be captured to be studied. That too failed. Who Is the Leader!? Apparently done with the Jointrons, the Predacons flew back to the North Continent and returned to building fortresses. While looking for materials, the Autorollers found a curious device amidst some ruins and brought it over to the Galvaburg II. There, Starscream figured out that it was a machine capable of copying living creatures and demonstrated it on BB. When Copy BB became hostile, the Predacons destroyed him and inspiration hit Galvatron to give the machine to the Maximals and let nature run its course. The Black Lio Convoy

Over on the Galvaburg II, Galvatron felt the explosion of Angolmois Energy that destroyed the Seacons' photon sailer in the Sea Continent The Space Pirate Seacons! and the release of energy was also picked up by the ship's radars. Dirge and Thrust were first sent out to observe the newcomers and when they returned with initial findings, Starscream and BB were sent out to investigate if the Seacons would be worthwhile allies. The Tentacular Scuba Presumably, the Predacons took the Galvaburg II to the Sea Continent when the Seacons proved interesting. Megastorm went to make a deal with them to kill the Maximals and proudly reported on his negotiation skills back on the ship. Although he was initially praised, Starscream pointed out that the deal would cost the Predacons all of their Angolmois Energy, illustrating his calculations with a display of apples on the big screen. This revelation put Megastorm in a bad spot but as he went to fetch the decoy energy transmitters that the Seacons would use from the storage room, he came upon the idea to rig them up with explosives to destroy Maximal and Seacon alike. Megastorm's Reckoning When that didn't work out, Galvatron personally contacted the Seacons screen-to-screen and negged them into killing the Maximals for free. He then sat back and watched the proceedings. Showdown in the Sea What with the Maximals still being alive, the Predacons piloted the Galvaburg II to the photon sailer and used the ship's scanners to analyze the Seacons' vessel and realized just how badly damaged it was. They used this to negotiate another assassination attempt for a few sheets of super death steel. Face the Setting Sun With their submarine, Starscream and BB eavesdropped on Lio Convoy's and Halfshell's terms for a duel and reported on this to Galvatron and Megastorm inside the Galvaburg II. The Final Battle

After having flown back the Galvaburg II to the North Continent, Galvatron became gravely injured in battle against Magnaboss. He fled back to the Galvaburg II and had Starscream and BB perform surgery on him. The operation was a success, but it'd take time for Galvatron's systems to recover, so as he lay unconscious in the operating theater Megastorm was in charge again. Megastorm Reborn Due to Angolmois Energy exposure, Megastorm was reborn into the gigantic Gigastorm, which made it fortunate that the Galvaburg II was equipped with an elementary particle control beam. He visited his older brother in the operating theater, hoping for signs that Galvatron would not recover and reclaim his role as leader. In any case, Galvatron would not awaken for the time being and after asserting dominance in the control room, Gigastorm set out to use his new powers to destroy the Maximals, but ended up trapped in the ground. The Galvaburg II was summoned to pull him out and then he ended up trapped in the ground again. The Galvaburg II had to pull him out again and when that led to another defeat, the Combatrons threw in the towel and used the spaceship to drag Gigastorm away from the battlefield before he could humiliate himself further. The New Weapon, Tako Tank With things as they were, Starscream was eager to get Galvatron awake again to put a halt to Gigastorm's antics while Gigastorm was desperate to ensure that his brother would stay put or worse. While Starscream and BB fed Angolmois Energy to Galvatron through the operating theater's tubes attached to his body, Gigastorm picked up a chainsaw and unsuccessfully tried to kill Galvatron. Starscream and BB fought to stop Gigastorm, but the latter succeeded in overfeeding Galvatron with Angolmois Energy, which all thought would kill him. Instead, it awakened Galvatron and he resumed command. A later fight with the Maximals resulted in Galvatron learning about Gigastorm's treachery and the two brothers fought. Galvatron undid Gigastorm's size advantage by ordering the ship's elementary particle control beam to shrink him down. Hereafter, Galvatron decided it was wiser to retreat and returned to the Galvaburg II with Gigastorm. Gigastorm's Treachery Nemesis had come close enough to Gaia that footage of the artificial planet was available for Galvatron to show his soldiers. On threat of being fired, he urged them to destroy the Maximals before Nemesis would arrive so that his plans would proceed smoothly. This prompted Starscream and BB to find a quiet spot inside the ship to talk about their job security and Starscream brought up how it was a boon that Gigastorm didn't know they'd tried to kill him earlier. This admission, however, was recorded by Dirge and Thrust, who handed the information to Gigastorm. Furious, Gigastorm concocted a plan to kill the two traitors, but this resulted in Starscream and BB becoming powered up into Hellscream and Max-B and ready to duke it out with Gigastorm at the bottom of a valley. The only reason no fighting occurred was that Galvatron steered the Galvaburg II over in time to order them to stand down and come back on board. The End of Starscream Dirge and Thrust weren't happy with Hellscream and Max-B instead of two corpses either. As they looked at footage of the powerful Cyborg Beasts on the screens of the Galvaburg II, they decided to go kill Lio Convoy to secure their positions in the army. They failed, but became Dirgegun and Thrustor. The Lio Convoy Assassination Plot Dirgegun and Thrustor discovered the Maximals' attempt to freeze the volatile Angolmois Energy and reported this to Galvatron back at the Galvaburg II. Galvatron made Nemesis provoke the Angolmois Energy more intensely and sent out the Predacons to thwart the Maximals. The Great Angolmois Freezing Tactic

Notes

  • The Galvaburg II was never named in the Beast Wars II cartoon, only being referred to as the "fortress spaceship" (要塞宇宙船 yōsai uchūsen) and "Predacon Headquarters" (デストロン本部 Destron Honbu). Its name instead comes from the Beast Wars II Super Encyclopedia.
  • "Galvaburg" is a portmanteau of "Galvatron" (ガルバトロン) and "Hindenburg" (ヒンデンブルク), while the ordinal is in reference to its originating franchise.
