The uniqueness of American [[The Transformers (franchise)|Generation 1]] Transformers commercials helped the line become a cultural phenomenon in the U.S. By contrast, [[TakaraTomy|Takara]]'s G1 commercials, or "'''CM'''"s, were considerably more generic. Commercials for ''[[Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers (toyline)|Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers]]'' and ''[[Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010 (toyline)|Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010]]'' have a distinctive Gregorian style "Trans-for-mer" chant at the end of them, but there was not much else to set them apart from other mecha toy commercials. They made use of the same type of stop motion animation that was used not only in commercials for Takara's Transformers predecessors ''[[Micro Change]]'' and ''[[Diaclone]]'' but for various other mecha toys including {{w|Gundam}}'', ''{{w|Voltron|GoLion}}'', and even as far back as 1975 for ''{{w|Himitsu Sentai Goranger}}''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s toyline. The stop motion style of commercial is still used by TakaraTomy as evidenced by the advertising for ''[[Transformers Animated (toyline)|Transformers Animated]]''. Curiously, Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers and Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010 commercials (even some of those not re-using US commercial footage) made use of several variations of the US [[theme song]]s, despite the fact that said theme songs were not used for the Japanese dubs of the [[The Transformers (cartoon)|cartoon]]. A few variants were even recorded specifically for the Japanese commercials, such as the one used in the first Airbots and Stuntrons ad. Later on, ''[[Beast Wars: Super Lifeform Transformers|Beast Wars]]'' and ''[[Super Lifeform Transformers: Beast Wars Metals (franchise)|Beast Wars Metals]]'' ads would also make use of the theme song from their American counterpart. | Curiously, ''Fight! Historically, Takara's advertising strategy has been to cover the entire toyline in some way, shape or form. This has resulted in some commercials where the toys get the bum's rush, staying on screen just long enough to show off both modes. The Beast Era has several egregious examples, in particular one ad that covers Scuba, Tasmania Kid, Big Horn, Apache, Dirge, Thrust, Starscream, BB, Megastorm and all four Autorollers for a grand total of thirteen toys! The whole line philosophy has been maintained as recently as the ''[[Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001 toyline)|Car Robots]]'' line. | Historically, Takara's advertising strategy has been to cover the entire toyline in some way, shape or form. Latest revision as of 18:41, 14 May 2026

The uniqueness of American Generation 1 Transformers commercials helped the line become a cultural phenomenon in the U.S. By contrast, Takara's G1 commercials, or "CM"s, were considerably more generic. Commercials for Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers and Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010 have a distinctive Gregorian style "Trans-for-mer" chant at the end of them, but there was not much else to set them apart from other mecha toy commercials. They made use of the same type of stop motion animation that was used not only in commercials for Takara's Transformers predecessors Micro Change and Diaclone but for various other mecha toys including Gundam, GoLion, and even as far back as 1975 for Himitsu Sentai Goranger's toyline. The stop motion style of commercial is still used by TakaraTomy as evidenced by the advertising for Transformers Animated.
Curiously, Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers and Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010 commercials (even some of those not re-using US commercial footage) made use of several variations of the US theme songs, despite the fact that said theme songs were not used for the Japanese dubs of the cartoon. A few variants were even recorded specifically for the Japanese commercials, such as the one used in the first Airbots and Stuntrons ad. Later on, Beast Wars and Beast Wars Metals ads would also make use of the theme song from their American counterpart.
The whole line philosophy has been maintained as recently as the Car Robots line.
In addition to toy commercials, Takara has also advertised via promotional videos, which occasionally offered as magazine or DVD extras, that tease an upcoming series or give supplemental information. Commercials for music singles and soundtracks for the various series have also aired on TV, possibly as early as Beast Wars. And of course there's the commercials for Beast Wars sausages. Really. We wouldn't lie to you.
Generation 1
[edit]
- Toyline [1]
- Toy segment: A presumably crystal castle of unknown location and origin, holding Convoy trapped within, dissolves into thin air. Somewhere else, the Cybertron forces spread apart to reveal a rising and not-dissolved Convoy. The Destron forces do the same for Megatron. Warp and Meister fire shots which collide in a midair explosion.
- Notes: A red Bumble and yellow Cliff are used.
- Convoy & Megatron [2]
- Notes: This is a dubbed version of the American ad with some of the animation removed. The theme song is undubbed.
- Convoy & Megatron [3] - Edited-down version of the previous commercial.
- Secret Emblem [4]
- Notes: Uses clips from the American rubsign ad (with some reordering) mixed with clips from the "Toyline" commercial.

- Dinobots & Buildrons [5]
- Toy segment: The Dinobots and Buildtrons square off on an ice planet in the middle of a solar eclipse.
- Laserwave [6]
- Notes: This commercial is the Shockwave/Laserwave segments of the U.S. "Jetfire & Shockwave" ad dubbed over. Naturally, the Jetfire segments were dropped due to Takara's legal inability to sell the Bandai-owned Jetfire mold in the Japanese market. Includes an end tag for the Devastor giftset.
- Soundwave [7]
- Notes: Same as the U.S. Soundwave ad with the narration and kids dubbed over.
- Toy segment: Kits for Ultra Magnus, Convoy, and Blitzwing are shown stop-motion transforming. Shots of the Broadcast, Frenzy, Jaguar and Silverbolt kits in one mode fade into shots of their other mode.
- Notes: The Jaguar kit is shown in flipped colors that are accurate to the original toy instead of the final production colors.
- Airbots & Stuntrons [9]
- Toy segment: The Airbots take off from Metroflex and fly over a desert. They all transform to robot mode and then combine into Superion. Firebolt and Air Rider disconnect, rotate diagonally around Superion's torso, and then reconnect as his right arm and left leg, respectively. Meanwhile, the Stuntrons have been driving in the desert below. They too transform to robot mode before combining into Menasor. Dead End and Drag Stripe disconnect and rotate around Menasor's torso to become his left and right arm, respectively.
- Scramble Power!
- Airbots & Stuntrons [10] - Edited down from the previous commercial.
- Airbots & Stuntrons 2 [11]
- Notes: Combines animation and footage from the U.S. Stunticons and Aerialbots commercial with footage from the Airbots and Stuntrons ad, along with a new clip of the Stuntrons designed to be a parallel to the segment where squares flip to reveal the individual Airbots.

- Ultra Magnus & Galvatron [12]
- Toy segment: Ultra Magnus drives through the desert carrying Silverbolt while Galvatron fires on him from an overlooking cliff in cannon mode. Silverbolt takes off from Magnus's trailer, prompting Galvatron to transform to robot mode. Ultra Magnus transforms just in time to receive a REALLY ineffective flying clothesline from Galvatron.
- Notes: This is the same desert in which the previous commercial took place. Whatever celestial body this desert is on, it's in very close proximity to a ringed planet. Galvatron's cannon blasts are marked by explosions occurring near Magnus, accompanied by laser blast sounds from the cartoon. There's also a lighting effect that seems to have an external source, rather than Galvatron's own light-up gimmick. Ultra Magnus's eyes light up red despite the toy not having that ability.
- Ultra Magnus & Galvatron [13] - Edited down from the previous commercial.
- Ultra Magnus & Galvatron 2 [14]
- Notes: Combines the animation from the U.S. Ultra Magnus and Galvatron commercial with toy footage from the first Japanese ad. The scene of Galvatron firing on Magnus has had a visual laser effect added to it.

- Trailer [209]
- Uploaded April 24 2014. Similar to the first Japanese trailer for Transformers, this one begins with an introduction by a famous American associated with the film. Instead of Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay, this time it's new lead actor Mark Wahlberg. Unlike his predecessors, he speaks only English. This is accompanied by Japanese subtitles. The remainder of the trailer is a heavily edited down version of the US trailer with most of the footage unique to that trailer (i.e. the footage not found in the first two US commercials) removed. Notable exceptions are the brief scene with Tessa's "Dad, you can't keep spending money on junk" voice over, the pan past Lucas Flannery to Optimus Prime and the scene of a Stinger transforming in front of Bumblebee.
- Overdubbed Trailer [210]
- Uploaded July 3, 2014. A 48 second mini-trailer using dubbed footage instead of subtitled footage like the first trailer. It is soundtracked with the Imagine Dragons song "Battle Cry".
- Destroyer [211]
- Uploaded July 1, 2014 with the ESPN "Future of Soccer" ad. Uploaded July 2 on it's own. A slightly modified version of the English language Destroyer ad with Tessa's "Help me!" line removed and the clip of her being caught by Bumblebee extended. This ad has English audio with subtitles.

- Desperate Situation [214] (15 sec) - An edited down version of the previous ad with Japanese audio for the movie clips.
- Fate [215]
- Uploaded July 2, 2014. English audio for the movie clips with Japanese subtitles. "Humans are hunting us, but a greater threat is coming." "He needs our help." "Why are you willing to help me?" - Movie Advanced Series dio story [222]
- Uploaded May 20, 2014. Earth is shown floating in space. This is followed by Optimus Prime, Classic Bumblebee and Crosshairs transforming and rolling out from some rocky looking area. The Dinobots, Grimlock, Slug and Scorn stomp around a similar looking area until meeting up with the Autobots. The Autobots transform to robot mode, which seems to enrage the Dinobots. The Dinobots charge the Autobots and knock them down. Prime manages to get back up, prompting the Dinobots to transform to robot mode themselves. Prime and Grimlock charge and collide in battle, leading to Optimus delivering a final blow. The blow prompts Grimlock to decide to shake hands with Optimus and be friends. The remainder of the trailer highlights the first seventeen Movie Advanced Series figures, grouped by movie of origin.
- Lost Age Series dio story [223]
- Uploaded July 9, 2014. Advertises mostly the One Step Changers, but also Battle Command Optimus Prime, Big Grimlock, Battle Attack Scorn and Battle Attack Strafe. Lockdown is driving down a desert-ish road when he decides to stop and transform. This prompts the Autobots (except for Prime), who were driving the other direction the road, to stop and transform as well. Drift, Crosshairs, Grimlock, and Bumblebee all stand on top of Prime's trailer, which he has deployed into a battle station. The Autobots unleash a massive barrage of gunfire at Lockdown without making a dent. Lockdown returns the favor by blasting away the trailer and all the Autobots save Prime, who's still sitting there in truck mode. Optimus finally transforms and destroys Lockdown with a slash of his sword. The trailer ends with each of first eleven Lost Age Series toys being highlighted.
- Lost Age Series [224]
- Uploaded July 24, 2014. Battle Command Optimus Prime is driving along a desert road in the American southwest. Bumblebee and Drift deploy from Prime's trailer so that he can transform to robot mode for no real reason whatsoever. Bumblebee and Drift then follow suit and transform to their robot modes. This is followed by Hound, who was apparently there the whole time unseen, transforming. Lockdown then transforms on a black grid floating somewhere up in the clouds. Bumblebee then jumps on Prime's back before being replaced by his trailer, which is now in backpack mode. The end shot shows Optimus Prime and all the One Step Changers.
