Occasionally a toy which had been sold as one character will be 'reassigned', to actually represent another, separate character. (This is distinct from redecos and repaints, in that the original toy no longer represents the character it was nominally intended to be.) This does not include characters simply placed in a different "continuity family".

Notable example: The 1999 Wal-mart exclusive Transmetal Rattrap toy was subsequently retconned into representing the character Packrat.
